He was a retired security officer at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church and Millennium Masonic Lodge No. 779 in Dayton, Ohio, and was a member of American Legion Post No. 526 in Fairborn, Ohio.

Bertha Morgan Jones, of Alexandria, Va., formerly of Dyersburg, died Sunday, March 10, 2002. She was a member of First Methodist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher during her residence in Dyersburg, and later transferred her membership to St. Luke's Methodist Church in Memphis upon her move there. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, an active leader in the Red Cross serving victims during the 1937 flood, active in the Cotton Carnival and the Summer Hill Garden Club as well as many other civic affairs.

Mamie Joyce Dycus, 84, of Ridgely, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Ridgely Rehabilitation & Care Center. She was a homemaker. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Ridgely First Pentecostal Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Henry and the Rev. Jamie Hodoe officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery. J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie Stoneburner and Barbara Henson, both of Ridgely, and Betty Prince of Dyersburg; four sons, Bobby Hodoe and Billy Joyce, both of Ridgely, James Joyce of Woodridge, Ill., and Finis Joyce of Dyersburg; two brothers, Arthur Manns of Ridgely and John Manns of Mississippi; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Joyce; a grandson, Michael Hodoe; and three brothers, Bill Manns, Cleo Manns and Ernest Manns. Pallbearers will be Gaylon Hodoe, Thomas Stoneburner, Tony Stoneburner, Jason Joyce, Dennis Henson, Finis Joyce Jr., Jarrod Prince and Jerald Prince.

Lera Treadway Bey, 44, of Gary, Ind., formerly of Ripley, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at Maryville Hospital in Chicago. She was a housewife. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Washington Street Church of God in Christ in Gary, Ind. Burial will be in the local cemetery of Gary, Ind. Guy & Allen Funeral Directors in Gary, Ind., is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Bey of Gary, Ind.; a daughter, Latoya Manns of Gary, Ind.; three sons, Jerry Manns, Sylvester Manns and Joshua Manns, all of Gary, Ind.; a sister, Gloria Simmons of Ripley; and three bothers, Elder Bobby Treadway and Roger Treadway, both of Ripley, and James Lee Treadway of Chicago.

Frances Lucille Partee Roberson, 69, of Danville, Ill., formerly of Dyersburg, died Sunday, March 10, 2002, at Kindred Hospital in Indianapolis. She was a house parent for Children Family Services, a former member of Eastern Star and Daughter of Isis and former director of The Neighborhood House. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she was a member of the sanctuary choir, the Senior Missionary Society, food service chairperson and originator of the A.C. New Generation Missionary Society (Elease Willing Workers) and the first Woman's Day Program. A 1953 graduate of Bruce High School in Dyersburg, she attended Lane College in Jackson.

He was a National Radio Evangelist for 18 years, a missionary to Haiti and Jamaica, former press secretary to the late Alabama Gov. George C. Wallace and former Gov. Guy Hunt. He was the last person to have a personal interview with Elvis Presley, interviewed the ambassador to Greece and also Alvin C. York. He was a published song writer and crated the first full gospel radio station in Miami, WGOS.
