Goldia Biggerstaff
Goldia Biggerstaff, 79, a homemaker, died Friday, January 26, 2001 in Granbury.
Funeral was at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Januray 29, 2001 at the First Baptist Church. Burial was at Granbury Cemetery under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home.
Goldia Biggerstaff was born May 7, 1921 in Vernon. She was preceded in death by a brother, Luke Morgan and a half-sister, Louise Morgan.
Survivors: husband, Homer Biggerstaff of Granbury; daughter, Martha Ann Blankenship of Heth; son, J. H. Biggerstaff, Jr. of Granbury; half-brother, Weldon Stokes Morgan of Huffman; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Bryan Quillin
Bryan Quillin, age 53, died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, in a Wichita Falls, Texas hospital.
Funeral Services were held Thursday, February 1, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ron Fox officiating. Interment was at Willbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Bryan was born October 13, 1947 in Crowell, Texas a son of the late Truman Bryan Quillin, Sr. and Carolita Quillin. He married Sherian Anderson on September 21, 1973 in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Bryan was a graduate of Vernon High School in 1965 and attended Baylor University. He served in the National Guard for six years. He owned Chicken Express from 1981 to 1999. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vernon.
He is survived by his wife, Sherian of Vernon; one son, Hudson Bryan Quillin, of Vernon; two daughters, Sherian Shawn Quillin of Wichita Falls, and Kelly Gail Quillin of Vernon; his mother, Carolita Quillin of Abilene, Texas; his step-mother, Floy Beth Binker Quillin of Seymour; and two sisters, Paula Ford of Abilene and Nancy Long of Austin.
Pallbearers were Clay Duke, Mike Baskerville, Monty Hall, Bob Bolton, Pat Knight, and Gene Howery. Honorary Pallbearers were the 2000-2001 Vernon Lion Varsity Football Players.
Memorials may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Vernon or Golden Wings Hospice Foundation.

Glen Maurice Shumate
Glen Maurice Shumate, age 74, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at his residence in Odessa, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 2, 2001, at the Red Springs Baptist church, with Reverend Jack Bennett, Pastor, and A. B. Martin, officiating.
Interment was in the Henson Cemetery in Red Springs, Texas, under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Shumate was born October 25, 1926, in Red Springs, Texas. He married Ruth Wood on May 17, 1950, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was a field operator for Phillips Petroleum for 30 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, of Odessa, Texas; three daughters, Cindy Clark of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Gay Gann of Gardendale, Texas, and Vicky Reel of Olive Branch, Mississippi; two sisters, Senna Jane Winn of Red Springs, Texas, and Lucille Coker of Ft. Myers, Florida; two brothers, John Shumate and Joe Shumate, both of Graham, Texas; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Charles W. Reagan Jr.
Charles W. Reagan Jr., 60, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, February 1, 2001, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Service were held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 5, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Shields officiating. Burial followed in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Reagan was born May 28, 1940, in Truscott to Charles Reagan Sr. and Ruth Hanley Reagan. He married Laura Louise Price on August 20, 1959, in Seymour. Mr. Reagan was employed by GTE for 30 years and was a reserve police officer in Georgetown for 13 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Louise Reagan of San Angelo; two sons, Charles D. Reagan of Wellington, Kansas, and Timothy D. Reagan of San Angelo; two special nephews, Ronnie and Richard Moore of Houston; a sister, Melba Griggs of San Angelo; three grandchildren, Nathan and Emily Reagan of McPherson, Kansas, and Jason Reagan of Galveston. Mr. Reagan was also a brother-in-law to Katheryn Opela and Annie Joe Copeland of Seymour.
The family requests memorials be made to VistaCare Family Hospice or a favorite charity.

Pauline Quisenberry
Pauline Quisenberry, age 85, of Seymour, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2001, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Graveside services were held at Masonic Cemetery, in Seymour, Texas, on Sunday, February 4, 2001, at 3:00 p.m. under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, with Dr. Ed Hart officiating.
Mrs. Quisenberry was born December 5, 1915, in Seymour, Texas. She married John Carl Quisenberry. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survivied by two sons, Carl Quisenberry and John Quisenberry, both of Seymour, Texas; two sisters, Gladys Bowman and Lucille Cole, both of Levelland, Texas; two grandchildren, Cody and wife Dana Quisenberry and Casey Quisenberry; one sister-in-law, Madelyn Eggleston; one brother-in-law, Roy Quisenberry, Jr. of Seymour, Texas.

Helen Miller Stiles
Helen Miller Stiles, 67 of Eastland, passed away Monday, February 5, 2001, at her home. Services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial was in Eastland City Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland, Texas.
Mrs. Stiles was born in Seymour, Texas, and lived in Red Springs until she married Alton Stiles in 1953. Her husband was in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and they lived in five different cities stateside and two foreign countries. They moved back to Eastland in 1974 where they were members and worked in the Preschool Department of the First Baptist Church until 1996. They owned and operated Stiles Air Conditioning and Appliance Store since 1985.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years Alton Stiles of Eastland; a son, Randy Stiles of Melissa, Texas; two daughters, Brenda Millican and Cheryl Busk both of Eastland; two sisters, Vernice Doyle of Seymour and Betty Hill of Abilene; two brothers, Eugene Miller of Odessa and Bob Miller of Seymour; nine grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Preschool Department of the First Baptist Church, or to Big County Hospice.

Robert M.“Bob” Cousins
Robert M.“Bob” Cousins, age 80, of Seymour, Texas, died Friday, February 9, 2001, at the Haskell Memorial Hospital, Haskell, Texas.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 12, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Seymour, Texas. Reverend Glenn Shock, Pastor of First Baptist Church and Reverend Larry Crumpton, Pastor of First United Methodist Church officated. Burial was at the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Mr. Cousins was born September 6, 1920 in Haskell, Texas. He graduated from Haskell High School in 1937. He was a World War II veteran. He served as sheriff of Haskell County, Texas for six years after the military. At the time he was elected as sheriff, he was the youngest sheriff in Texas. He then went to work for the Department of corrections in January of 1955 as Captain of the correctional officers on the Darrington Unit. In July of 1969 he began serving as Warden of the Ellis Unit. He later served as Sr. Warden of the Coffield Unit at Palestine, Texas until his retirement in 1984. He and Ella Grace Higgins were married November 8, 1977. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Texas Rangers Foundation Association. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sybyl King Cousins in 1976 and a son, Jesse Al Cousins in March of 1992.
He is survived by his wife Ella Grace Cousins of Seymour, Texas; one daughter, Judy Myers of Alvin, Texas; one son, Robert Chang Cousins of New Waverly, Texas; two step-daughters, Judy Hardin of Denton, Texas and Georgann Higgins of Frisco, Texas; one sister, Alberta Earnest of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Otis E. Thomas
Otis E. Thomas, 89, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2001, in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Crestview, with Mr. Charles Thomas Thomason of Faith Village Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview.
A son of the late Frank and Isabell Wright Thomas, he was born July 5, 1911, in Seymour, Texas. A resident of Wichita Falls since 1945, he was an active member of the community. He was a member of Faith Village Church of Christ for over twenty years. Otis was commissioned as an honorary Texas Ranger by Colonel Garrison in 1964 and was a member of the Maskat Shrine Temple, the Masonic Lodge and was the founder of the Alcoholics Anonymous program in the prison in Huntsville, Texas. He was a leader in criminal rehabilitation programs, giving a second chance to numerous individuals. Otis owned and operated Otis Thomas Auto Sales from 1952 until 1972. He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Luther, Roy and Lafoy and two sisters, Lilly May King and Elizabeth Harris.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 71 years, Roberta; his sons, Charles and Jake; daughter, Nancy Thomas Huddleston; one sister, Doris Jo Minton; brothers, T. J. and Virgil Thomas; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He will be sorely missed by friends and family alike although his positive influence on others will live on for generations to come.

Wallace K. Gore
Wallace K. Gore, age 71, passed away Monday, February 5, 2001, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2001, at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home, with Reverend Graig Whisnand officiating. Interment was in the Vera Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Wallace was born October 1, 1929, in Vera, Texas, to the late Johnnie B. and Mary Lou McKinney Gore. He married Clara Ileta Hughes on December 14, 1947, in Vera, Texas. He worked for Marathon Oil Company for 32 years, and in the past several years had worked as an independent consultant in the oil industry. He was an avid gardener, loved to cook, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ileta Hughes Gore of Seymour, Texas; one son, Ken Gore of Seymour, Texas; by two daughters and their husbands, Patti and Dusty Land of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Ginger and Joe Tijerina of Wharton, Texas; by a daughter, Marie Helene Toscani of Buda, Texas; by two brothers and their wifes, Jerry and Barbara Gore of Hobbs, N.M. and Doug and Marie Gore of Vernon, Texas; and by his grandchildren, Melissa Gore Wicker and her husband, Cody of Midland, Texas, Tawny Tijerina of Wharton, Texas, K. C. Gore of Midland, Texas, Micah Land of Lubbock, Texas, Tara Land of Wichita Falls, Texas and Nathan Tijerina of Wharton, Texas.
