Helen Krause Perkins
Helen Krause Perkins of Hobbs New Mexico passed away Monday, July 9, 2001 in Hobbs New Mexico.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 14, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. officiated by Reverend Carol Tuck, Pastor Jack Lott and Pastor Chuck Ferina. Burial was in the Prairie Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home, Inc.
Helen was born and raised in Hobbs, New Mexico. She graduated from Hobbs High School and was married in Hobbs. She was the post mistress of the Monument Post Office. Helen enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. She was a current member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Rubye Mae Garner Krause, Grandparents J.R. and Mandy Lee Kennedy Garner; two uncles, J.C. Garner and Morris Garner.
Survivors include: her husband, L.C.; one sister Freida Maye Crawford of Las Vegas, Nevada; nephews, one uncle and two cousins.
Memorials can be to the Cancer and Heart Fund of First United Methodist Church in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Ara Estelle Barton
Ara Estelle Barton, age 95, died Sunday, July 1, 2001, in Lewisville, Texas.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, in Frederick, Oklahoma, Memorial Cemetery, with the Reverend Buddy Bryant officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Dalton & Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barton was born February 6, 1906, in Denton County, Texas, and grew up in Westover, Texas. She was a daughter of the late Porter and Polly Staples. She was married to Charles H. Barton and they lived in Levelland, Texas, for many years before moving to Earth, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 2, 1955, a daughter, Polly Nita Barton on August 24, 1946; and a brother, William Richard Staples in 1912.
She moved to Seymour, Texas, in 1968 and was employed as a ward clerk at the Seymour Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour where she had been active in Sunday School and the Senior Adult Choir. She moved to Lewisville, Texas, in 1997.
Mrs. Barton is survived by a daughter, Joy Simmons and her husband Daryl, of Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Christene Jones and Mrs. Zelma Taylor, both of Seymour, Texas; two grandchildren, Ami Ruppman of Frisco, Texas, and Stephen Simmons of Copperas Cove, Texas; two nephews, Leo D. Jones and Jack H. Taylor, both of Wichita Falls, Texas; a niece, Virginia Pfau, of Seymour; and four great-grandchildren, Trenton, Lindsey, McKenna, and Savanna.

Kenneth D. Warren
Kenneth D. Warren, age 77, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2001, in a Wichita Falls, Texas, hospital. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, with Reverend Larry Crumpton, Pastor and Reverend Lee Roy Collins, brother-in-law of Mr. Warren, officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Warren was born March 3, 1924, in Seymour, Texas, to Raymond T. and Louise Hardy Warren. He married Hester Collins on May 14, 1960 in Aredale, Iowa. He was a helicopter tech rep for the Department of Defense and lived and worked in many places around the world. After his retirement he returned to Seymour in 1990. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Seymour, and a 50 year member of Seymour Masonic Lodge #604 AF & AM.
He is survived by his wife Hester of Seymour, Texas; by one daughter, Ann McClintock of Hesperia, California; by one son, Dale Warren of Maineville, Ohio; by his mother, Louise Warren of Seymour, Texas; by two brothers, Travis Warren of Seymour, Texas, and John Warren of Lovington, N.M.; by one sister, Anna Beth Gray of Flourrisant, Missouri; and by two grandchildren, Michelle and Jesse McClintock of Hesperia, California.
Mr. Warren was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Warren; by an infant sister, Bettie Ruth Warren; and by an infant son.
The family request that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to Alzheimer’s Research.

Olen Clifft Boatright
Olen Clifft Boatright, age 63, of Lamesa died Friday, July 13, 2001 at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center in Alamagordo, N.M. Services were held Tuesday, July 17, 2001 at the First Baptist Church in Lamesa. Burial was in the Lamesa Memorial Park.
Mr. Boatright was born on July 14, 1938 in Lamesa, Texas. He married Connie Morrison on July 13, 1963 in Plainview, Texas.
Mr. Boatright grauated Lamesea High School in 1956 and later Sul Ross State University in 1964. Life long member of First Baptist Church, member of Masonic Lodge #909, Lamesa Rotary Club and the Medical Arts Hospital Auxillary.
He is survived by: wife Connie; two daughters, Kristi Boatright of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jana Boatright of Stephenville, Texas; one son, Michael Boatright of Bridgeport, Texas; one sister, Tawana Arnett of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren; one aunt, Opal Leatherwood, Lamesa, Texas.

Wilma Christine Mitchell Patterson
Wilma Christine Mitchell Patterson, age 82, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at Benjamin, Texas. Services were held Monday, July 16, 2001 at Benjamin, Texas Memorial Building officiated by Reverend Wes Holland and Dennis Duke. Burial was in the Benjamin Cemetery, Benjamin, Texas under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Mrs. Patterson was born January 3, 1919 in Hall County, Texas to the late Ike and Hazel Mitchell. She graduated from Westover High School in 1937. She and Orel LaMoyne Patterson were married September 7, 1940 in Archer County. They made their home in the Hill County in Johnson City, Texas for nearly 25 years. They returned to the Benjamin area in 1967 to assume the family ranch duties. Christine was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benjamin, Texas, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter in Johnson City for 30 years, the Knox County Home Demonstration Club and many other community organizations.
She is survived by: husband, LaMoyne Patterson of Benjamin, Texas; two sons, Lynn Patterson of Amarillo, Texas and Kynn Patterson of Benjamin, Texas; one daughter, LaNay Patterson Cash of Gilliland, Texas; three sisters, Juanita Oliver of Littlefield, Texas, Viola Kunkel of Odessa, Texas and Movelda Mayes of Conroe, Texas; one sister-in-law, Jean Mitchell of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren, Danneva Patterson, Kimberly Miller, Lynn Patterson, Tim Cash and Jason Patterson; and four great-grandchildren.

Marie Owen
Marie Owen, age 77, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, 2001 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Seymour with Rev. Glenn Shock officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Frankie Marie Owen was born March 6, 1924 in Haskell County, Texas to Tommy Floyd Jordan and Flossie Randolph Jordan. She attended and graduated from Seymour High School. She worked as a nurse at the old Seymour Hospital. She then worked as a lab tech and x-ray tech at the new hospital for many years. She later worked for the STEP program and then Archer Funeral Home until her death. Marie was a member of the First Baptist Church, VFW Auxiliary and the Eastern Star.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Floyd Jordan.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Robertson of Vernon; a brother, Charles Ray Jordan of Ozark, Arkansas; a grandson, Michael Robertson of Decatur; and two great-grandchildren, Austin and Samantha.

Billie Jo Stevens
Billie Jo Stevens, age 61, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001 in Seymour, Texas.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 22, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Northeast Baptist Church with Helen Roden and Kay Pruitt officiating. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stevens was born October 15, 1939 in Seymour. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Seymour. She and Richard Stevens were married November 8, 1954. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Mae Wright; a daughter, Phyllis Renae in 1958 and a son, Freddie Stevens in March, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Stevens of Seymour; three sons, Randy Thorn of Jacksboro, Texas; Monty Stevens of Lubbock, Texas and Barry Stevens of Wichita Falls, Texas; two sisters, Oleta Trussell of Aurora, Texas and Jackie Gleghorn of Seymour; one brother, Bobby Wright of Seymour and six grandchildren.

J.T. “Jake” Murdock
J.T. “Jake“ Murdock, age 92, of Seymour passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2001.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seymour, Texas with Rev. Glenn Shock officiating under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery in Hefner, Texas.
Mr. Murdock was born January 15, 1910 in Wood County, Texas. He moved with his family to Knox County at an early age. He married Opal Jackson and they lived at Hefner and were well known in the Hefner-Goree farming community. After he retired from farming, they moved to Seymour in 1978. Opal preceded him in death in 1985. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Henry Kinnaird. He married Lora Wisdom on February 14, 1987. Mr. Murdock was a member of the First Baptist Church in Seymour.
He is survived by his wife, Lora Murdock of Seymour; a son and daughter-in-law, Mackey and Joanne Murdock of Garland, Texas; a daughter, Gloria Kinnaird of Friendswood, Texas; a sister, Ernie Harpole of Mineola, Texas; a brother, Cecil Murdock of Georgia; four sister-in-laws; four grandchildren, Wayne Kinnaird, Sheri Murdock, Keri Kinnaird and Julie Murdock; one great-grandchild, Shane Chavoya; and numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
