Samuel Luckey
Samuel Luckey, age 71, passed away in Seymour, Texas on Sunday, November 25, 2001.
No services are scheduled in Seymour. Burial will be in California. Arrangements are under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Mr. Luckey was born April 27, 1930. He lived in California and worked for Safeway Food Stores for many years. He moved to Seymour in 1999.
Survivors include three daughters, Sammie Luckey, Lydia Luckey and Robin Luckey; two sons, Carl Luckey and Fletcher Luckey; three sisters, Minnie Lee Galloway, Doris Parrish and Leanna Luckey; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Jessie Shawver
Jessie Shawver, age 91, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2001 in Bartlesville.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, November 27, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry Crumpton, Pastor of First United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery, in Seymour.
Mrs. Shawver was born January 10, 1910 in Baylor County, Texas to Thomas Eugene Fancher and Sarah Bingham Fancher. She and Zerold Shawver were married December 24, 1927. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lawrence in 1996. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Sue Nichols of Grove, Oklahoma and D’Ann Wooldridge of Montgomery, Texas; one son, Jim Shawver of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Peggy Ford of Seymour, Texas, Lloyd Clark of Red Springs, Texas and Emma Gene Conner of Lipan, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

John Debs Wilson
John Debs Wilson, age 87, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2001, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2001, at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Edward C. Hart and Bob Hayley, Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Bomarton Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites conducted by Seymour Lodge #604 A.F. & A.M. Services are under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson was born April 11, 1914, in Alba, Texas, and moved to the Bomarton Community at an early age. He graduated from Bomarton High School in 1932. He married Mary Catherine Reed on April 1, 1939, in Seymour, Texas. He was a farmer and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Seymour Lodge #604 A.F. & A.M. and the Eastern Star $488. He was a former worshipful Master of Lodge #604, and was the district deputy grand master in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Wilson of Seymour, Texas; by one daughter and her husband, Deborah and Lynn McLarty of Snyder, Texas; by one son David Wilson of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; by four grandchildren, Daron Wilson, Reed Wilson, Erik Wagoner and Kirsten Lancaster; by seven great-grandchildren, Jessica Boyd, Victoria Wilson, Kevin Wilson, Blake Wilson, J.D. Wagoner, Wilson Wagoner and Jane Wagoner; and by one great-great-grandchild, Tristan Boyd.
The family rquests that memorials be made to the Seymour High School Building Fund and Library.

Charles Wayne Killian
Charles Wayne Killian, age 65, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2001, at his residence in Seymour, Texas. Services were held Saturday, December 1, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Reverend Glenn Shock, pastor, officiated. Interment was in the Riverview cemetery . Services were under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Mr. Killain was born March 10, 1936 in Munday, Texas to George J. Killian and Lora Crouch Killian. He worked for Western Crude Oil for over 20 years as a district superintendent. He was a member of the Downtown Men’s Bible Class.
Survivors include: two sons, Rickey Killian of Heflin, Louisiana and Chuck Killian of Seymour, Texas; one brother, Clifford Killian of Munday, Texas; and six granchildren.

O.V. Hampton
O.V. Hampton, 89, of Megargel, Texas died Tuesday, November 27, 2001 at his residence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 30, 2001, at the First Baptist Church in Olney, with the Reverend Cliff Sims, pastor, and Harvey McQueen of Megargel, Texas, officiating. Interment was in the Megargel Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mr. Hampton was born March 31, 1912 in Westover, Texas to the late John H. and Josephine (Riley) Hampton. He graduated Megargel High School in 1929. He and Bessie Maye Baker were married June 25, 1934 in Jacksboro, Texas. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army 9th Division. He was a verteran of World War II. He was stationed in Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of the Mergargel Masonic Lodge No. 1038 A.F. & A.M. He served every office in the Lodge, serving twice as master and was secretary for many years. He was a retired oil filed pumper. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Olney. He had lived in Megargel most of his life.
Survivors include his wife: Bessie Maye Hampton of Megargel, Texas; one son, Riley Hampton of Megargel, Texas; one sister, Irue Routon of Olney, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Alden J. Smith
Alden J. Smith, age 64 of Abbott, passed away Wednesday evening, November 14, 2001 at this residence.
Rosary was recited 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 6:45 p.m. Friday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Father Stephen Nesrsta as celebrant. Mass of Christian Burial was held 1 p.m. in St. Jude Thaddeus Church in Burkburnett. Burial followed in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wichita Falls.
Mr. Smith was born November 14, 1937 at Bethania Hospital in Wichita Falls. The 100th child born in this hospital, to Alden Hirim (Buzzy) and Bettie Blanar Smith. He was the grandson of pioneer Wichita county settlers, Willis Winston and Lula Belle Smith of Electra and Rudolph and Mary (Michna) Blanar of the Clara community near Burkburnett. He was received into the faith by baptism November 24, 1937 by Father Peter Malloy.
Mr. Smith was a honor graduate of Burkburnett High School Class of 1956. A distinguished graduate of Texas A&M Class of 1960 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts. He was a holder of Masters Degrees from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, and the University of Maryland College in Park, Maryland, Additional studies at the University of Texas in Austin, Radford University, Xavier University of Ohio and Slovak National Academy Zvolen Grand University in Vienna.
His teaching included Social Studies and English at Burkburnett High School and Social Studies and Drama coach at Kimbell Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire. For 35 years he was an instructor of history and government at Hill College in Hillsboro, the director of Social and Behavioral Science and served as president of the Hill College Faculty Association. He was on the Professional Development Committee for TJCTA. Mr. Smith was named distinguished professor and NISOD winner in 1994.
He was active in the Czech and Slavic groups. He was a director of the National Alliance of Czech Catholics in Chicago and a member of the Czech Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was the current president of St. Charles K.J.T. No. 107 of Abbott for 20 years. President of the Order of Sts. Cyril and Methodius RVOS Marak Lodge No. 47, Catholic Life Union No. 4 of West and Tours, and Catholic Workman St. Wenceslavs No. 77 of West. He was a former and lecture of West Knights of Columbus No. 2305 and was a charter member of St. Wenceslav Knights of Columbus Council No. 11230 of Abbott and served as Council Recorder.
He was a member of the Board of Directors Dallas-Brno Sister Cities, founder of the American Moravian Culture Center in Brno, past vice-president and international director of McLennan Hill Czech Heritage Society, member of Texans of Czech Ancestry, Czech-Moravian Beseda Dancers of Texas, and served as commentator, Czech Cultural Society of Dallas and member of Dallas Czech Singers and also a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 130 of Dallas.
He was active in the Association of former students. Alden was a past officer of the County-Line Aggie Club, member of Hill County Farm Bureau, election judge of precinct No. 7 in Abbott and precinct chairman of the Democratic Party and was elected delegate to the State Democratic Convention.
An active member in the Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Abbott, Alden was a former parish council member and served as secretary. At present time, he was a lecturer, Eucharist minister, cantor/soloist and a member of the choir, both English and Czech.
Alden is survived by one aunt, Jimmie (Smith) Jordan of Pampa, cousins, Charlotte Pearcy of Hico, Patricia Keith of Dimmitt, several cousins and godchildren, godchild, Mary (Strokes) Kirk of Hillsboro and close friends.
Active pallbearers were Emil Pustejovsky, Jr., Frank Marak, Charlie Pavlas, Jody Lenart, Kenneth Beene, Barney Fudge, Danny Snooks, and Bob Treadwell.
Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Pustejovsky, Paul Harvey, Jr., Alfred Vrana, Ronnie Marak, Thom Smith, Henry Gerlich, Ray Roberts, Stephen Vrana, Terry Timmons, Joel Atkins, David Hartmann, Larry Armstrong, Johnnie Pustejovsky, members of St. Charles Borromen KJT No. 107, members of St. Wenceslavs Knights of Columbus Council No. 11230 and members of Msgr. George Doskocil 4th Degree Assembly of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2391.
Memorials may be made to the Arch Bishops Seminary Fund of Olomouc in Care of St. Charles K.J.T. No. 107, Box 205 Abbott, TX 76621 of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott.
Kotch Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Douglas
Linda Douglas, age 65, of Dallas, Texas, died December 9, 2001. Services were held Friday, December 14, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Seymour Church of Christ officiated by A.B. Martin. Interment was in the Cache Creek Cemetery with services under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas.
Linda Larue Douglas was born December 21, 1935 in Seymour, Texas. She graduated from Seymour High School and has lived in Dallas since 1978. She worked for the State of Texas, Childcare, Inc. for 19 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mildred Dykes Douglas and a brother, Walter Douglas in 1997.
Survivors include: two sons David Lee Hulcy and wife, Cathie of Summerfield, Florida; and Steven Ray Hulcy and wife Sharon of Wichita Falls, Texas; two brothers, Gene Douglas of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Howard Lee Douglas of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Donna Kay House of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Jennifer Elaine Hulcy and Michael Hulcy.
Memorials can be made to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

Vernie Leon Feemster
Vernie Leon Feemster, age 75, died December 18, 2001, at his residence in Iowa Park, Texas after a battle with cancer. Graveside services were held at Vera Cemetery, Vera, Texas, December 20, 2001 under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home with Larry L. Dutton officiating.
Vernie Leon was born in Vera, Texas, August 30, 1926, to Vernie and Ida Stockton Feemster. He lived most of his early years in Knox County including Vera, Benjamin, Knox City and later moving to Seymour, Vernon and Iowa Park.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dan David.
Survivors include his wife of the home and a stepdaughter and a stepson and many cousins.
