David Clyde Moore
David Clyde Moore age 84, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away Thurs. April 18, 2002 in Denton Texas. Mr. Moore was born October 28, 1917 in Blanco.
He is survived by one sister; Lillian Peace of San Antonio; one daughter; Wendy Moore of Richardson; and four sons; Adrian Moore of Little Elm, Norm Moore of Payne Springs, Wendell Moore of Carrollton, and Winston Moore of Spring Branch. He also has 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services were be held at Crofts Funeral Home on Monday April 22, 2002 with Bro. W.B. Hiller officiating.
Burial followed at Blanco Cemetery on Spur 163.
Pallbearers were the grandsons of Mr. Moore.

MOURSUND, ALBERT WADEL, III, lawyer, rancher, banker and statesman; born in Johnson City, Texas, May 23, 1919; son of Albert Wadel Moursund, Jr. and Mary Frances (Stribling) Moursund; passed away at his home in Round Mountain, Texas, on April 22, 2002, at the age of 82.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Allen Moore Moursund; a son, Will Stribling Moursund; a daughter, Mary Moore Moursund; a daughter-in-law, Ingrid Weltge Moursund; a granddaughter, Autumn Marie Moursund; a grandson, Albert Wadel Moursund, IV.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Elman Fuchs and wife, Rita Fuchs; a nephew, Harald Nielsen Moursund; a cousin, Lugenia Donop and husband, Gordon Donop; family members, Socorro Morales; Lorena Morales Blaylock, and husband, Monte Blaylock, and daughter, Ariel Blaylock; and a host of dedicated and loyal employees and friends.
A.W. Moursund, or Judge Moursund as he was commonly known, was a nationally recognized lawyer and statesman.
He graduated from Austin High School in 1936 and received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1941, and was admitted to the Bar of Texas that same year.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and opened his law practice in Johnson City, Texas after the war.
He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives for two terms and served from 1948 to 1952.
He began his service as General Counsel of Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc. in 1950 and continued in that capacity until his death. After leaving the Texas House, he was elected County Judge of Blanco County and served from 1953 until 1959.
He was a life long friend, business associate, counselor and advisor to President Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife, Lady Bird Johnson. President Johnson granted him an irrevocable power of attorney in 1963.
Judge Moursund was one of the original appointees to the board of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission in 1963, and served on that board until 1967. He was recognized as “A Texan’s Texan” by TIME magazine in 1964.
Judge Moursund owned various and varied businesses during his life, including banks, insurance agencies, abstract companies, and ranches in different states, to name a few. He owned the Arrowhead Bank in Llano, Texas, and the Cattleman’s National Bank in Round Mountain, Texas, at the time of his death.
Judge Moursund received many accolades during his long and storied life, which recognized him as the Texas Renaissance Man that he was.
In 1991, the Texas House of Representatives passed Resolution 778, honoring A. W. and Mary Allen Moursund’s 50th wedding anniversary, and that same year he received a 50 year certificate from the State Bar of Texas and a Golden Anniversary Diploma from the University of Texas.
A lifelong Mason, he was honored as a Master Mason for 50 years in 1995. The Texas Senate passed Resolution 1309 honoring Judge Moursund in 1995 and he was recognized by Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock as a “True Texan” in that same year.
He was appointed General Counsel to Lieutenant Governor Bob Bullock in 1996.
Funeral services will be held at Crofts Funeral Home, Johnson City, Texas, on Thursday, April 25, 2002, at 2:00 P.M., with graveside services in Round Mountain, Texas, immediately following.
Pallbearers are Bennie Fuelberg, W.W. (Bud) Burnett, Cecil Joe Scott, George Birck, Rory Boatright, F.M. (Fuzzy) Reagor, Glenn Lewis, Tommy Duncan, David Taylor, Lee Duncan, Wallace Herbert, Rudy Garcia, Jay Frasier, and Oliver Deike.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Directors, Officers and Employees of the Pedernales Electric Cooperative, Inc.; the Directors, Officers and Employees of the Arrowhead Bank; and the Directors, Officers and Employees of the Cattleman’s National Bank.
Memorial donations may be made in the name of Judge A.W. Moursund to the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center, Burnet, Texas; to the “Judge A.W. Moursund Scholarship Fund”, LBJ High School, Johnson City, Texas; to the Shriners’ Children’s Hospital, Austin, Texas; to the Johnson City Little League, Johnson City, Texas; and to the LBJ Band Boosters, Johnson City, Texas.

Alvin Ernest Bravenec
Alvin Earnest Bravenec age 95, of Spring Branch, Texas passed away on Monday, April, 22, 2002 in New Braunfels.
Mr. Bravenec was born on October 20, 1906 in Bellville, Texas. He is survived by 3 sons; Alvin Bravenec, Jr. of New Braunfels, David L. Bravenec of Lampasas, Gene Bravenec of New Braunfels; one daughter; Leatrice Joy Duffin of Houston; and one sister; Annie Chumchall of San Antonio. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco on Thursday, April 25 between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Services will be held at Crofts Funeral Home on Friday April 25,2002 at 10:00 a.m. with a graveside service at 12:20 p.m. at Mission Burial Park South in San Antonio, the Rev. Doug Groen officiating.

William J. (Bill) Moore
William J. (Bill) Moore, a former Fed-Ex driver in the Blanco area, was born on December 15, 1966 in Palmer, Massachusetts and was killed in a hit and run accident in Austin, Texas on April 20,2002.
Bill is survived by his fiancee, Jeannie Ferrier; his mother, Alice Moore; his father, Bob Moore; his grandma Erin; his sister, Brenda; and his brothers, Bob and Brad. He is also survived by William Moore, Jr., Ashley Moore, Madelaine and Matthew Cockrean and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a friend to everyone he met and his absence will be felt by all.
All family and friends are invited to gather at their home, 8615 Thunderbird Rd., Austin, Texas, on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. for a celebration of Bill’s life. Bill requested a barbecue to follow the celebration.

SITTERLE
Jeannette Cecilia (Wakely) Sitterle, devoted wife and mother, passed away on April 10, 2002, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.
She was the beloved wife of Arthur Sitterle for nearly 50 years. Jeannette was born on May 6, 1931 in Santiago, Chile to Thomas and Bernadette Wakely and moved to San Antonio after the death of her father.
She graduated from Alamo Heights High School and attended The University of Texas where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority.
She also attended Louisiana State University and Maryknoll. She married Arthur S. Sitterle in 1952 and served as an officer and active participant in their business, Comet Neon Sign Company.
Nothing brought her more pleasure than spending time with her family and friends at their hill country ranch near Wimberley, Texas. She was a member of St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church in Blanco, Texas and St. Peter Prince of the Apostles in San Antonio. Deeply loved by all those who knew her, her positive attitude and personality were attributed to her deep love of God and her family. Jeannette was predeceased by her son-in-law, Louie Schreiner.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur, and their children: Dr. Karen Sitterle; Sharon Straus and husband, Steve; Lorie Oliver and husband, Bill; Chrisie Schreiner; and Pete Sitterle and wife, Andrea.
She was affectionately known as "Grandma Net" by her eleven grandchildren: Selia, Steven and Alyse Straus; Elizabeth, Ashley and Will Oliver; Griffin, Bobby Lee, and Luke Schreiner; and Suzannah and Peter Sitterle. Her brother, Thomas J. Wakely, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her.
Rosary was recited April 15 at St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church. Mass was celebrated April 16 at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church in San Antonio.

BIRCK
Alida Meta Birck, 86, of Johnson City, Texas passed away April 11, 2002 in Austin at the Seton Hospital. She was born on October 12, 1915 at Hye, Texas in Blanco County to Alex McDougall and Antonette Procknow McDougall.
She was baptized in to the Lutheran Faith on April 20, 1916 at Cave Creek, Texas. She graduated from Johnson City High School.
Alida married Walter Birck on June 28, 1939. They spent all their married life in the Cypress Mill Community.
Mrs. Birck is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son; Charles William Birck, brothers; Elgin McDougall and Edwin McDougall, sisters; Cora Fry and Elda Ahrens.
She is survived by her son Vernon Birck and wife Gretchen of Johnson City, daughter; Gladys McLean and husband Martin of Marble Falls, grandchildren; Blayne Birck and wife Ann of Johnson City, Kaiser Birck of Johnson City, Derek Birck of Stephenville, Kevin McLean of Marble Falls, Brenda Belk and husband Virgil of Marble Falls, and Scott McLean of Irving. Great grandchildren; Jason Belk, Logan Belk, William Bullock and Korbin McLean also survive her, sister-in-law Alma McDougall of Austin, brother-in-law Benno Ahrens of Austin, sister-in-law Amanda Lloyd of Austin, and brother-in-law Willis Hornberger of Austin.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Kevin Mclean, Blayne Birck, Scott McLean, Kaiser Birck, Brenda Belk and Derek Birck.
Services were held Saturday April 12, 2002 at Crofts Funeral Home in Johnson City, interment followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Johnson City.

BROWN
Colonel William M. Brown, Jr., age 88, of Blanco passed away April 4, 2002 at Fredericksburg. Col. Brown was born January 9, 1914 at Kenedy to William M. Brown, Sr., father, and mother, Hettie Linder Brown. Col. Brown served in the US Air Force, having served in WW II and Korea.
He was a member of Blanco Masonic Lodge and a Shriner.
Services were held Saturday, April 6, 2002 at Crofts Funeral Home in Blanco with Rev. W.B. Hiller and Rev. Rusty Hicks officiating. Interment followed at the Blanco Cemetery with full Military Honors.
Col. Brown is survived by his daughter, Diane Hostetler, of Blanco, three grandchildren; Laura McClinton, Linda Hostetler, Ken Hostetler, four great grandchildren; one brother; Earle Brown, of Kenedy, and one sister; Aileen Brown, of San Antonio.
Pallbearers were Randy McClinton, Ricky Haenel, Bobby Blomstedt, Wesley Joe Dechert, Clinton Dowdy, Gordon Dowdy and Manuel Garcia.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the William Hostetler Texas A & M Scholarship Fund, Blanco National Bank.
