G. Graham Hamilton

G. Graham “Buzz” Hamilton, 76, of Cuero, passed away on June 16, 2004.
He was born Nov. 6, 1927 in Cuero to the late Thornton Graham and Mary Sue Graves Hamilton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana and the University of Texas where he was a Phi Gamma Delta. He was owner of San Jacinto Engraving Co. in Houston. He was a member of the Houston Chamber of Commerce and the Cuero Gun Club, a conservationist, a world-class Sporting Clay competitor, a rancher and game management enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Hamilton; sons, T. G. Hamilton of Victoria, Mike Hamilton of Port O'Connor, Bob Hamilton and Tom Hamilton, both of Austin; step-children, Maj. Bert Belisch of Copperas Cove and Ben Belisch of Columbia, South Carolina; sister, Susan Wallis of Cuero; and seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was Thursday, June 17 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Friday at the funeral home, the Rev. Canon Robert DeWolfe officiated. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Memorials: Cuero Gun Club or donor's choice.

Marian A. Ender

Marian Antoinette Ender 82, of Weesatche, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004.
She was born March 2, 1922 to the late Edmund and Nettie Dreier in the Weser Community of Goliad County. In 1926 the family moved to Weesatche, where she has lived all of her life. She married Alfred Ender in September 1942. They owned and operated Ender's Grocery in Weesatche from 1947 to 1971. She worked as secretary for the Goliad County Extension Service from 1968 to 1985, when she retired. She loved doing church work, including having been at different times, church organist, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer and president of the Women of the Church group. She was also active in the community with the Weesatche Volunteer Fire Department.
She leaves her beloved family, daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Michael Champagne of Austin and granddaughter Michelle Champagne of Corpus Christi.
She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Visitation was Thursday, June 10 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. Funeral service were Friday, June 11 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Weesatche, Mr. C. B. Suggs S.A.M. officiated. Interment followed at St. Andrew Cemetery. Arrangements by Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, Texas 361-564-2277.
Pallbearers: Michael Champagne, Jim Darby, Phil Albrecht Jr., Maurice Reitz, Warren Glen Borgfeld, and Art Dohmann.
Memorial can be made to St. Andrew Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.

Bernard C. Meischen

Bernard Carl "Ben" Meischen, 86, of Garfield Community, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.
He was born June 29, 1917 on a farm near Nordheim. His parents are the late Hugo F. and Annie Gaebler Meischen. The family moved to the Garfield Community in 1918. He grew up in the community and attended the Garfield School and then started farming and ranching, raising cattle, sheep and hogs.
He was active in the community, being a member of the Garfield Shooting Club and serving as the advertising manager for a number of years. He served on the board of directors of the Farmers Feed & Supply. He was good at dowsing, or water switching and found many locations for water wells. He was a trumpet player and vocalist and played with several dance orchestras. He joined the Yorktown Community band in 1936 and in later years played in the Nordheim brass Band. He enjoyed sports, like hunting, fishing, target and trap shooting and talking with friends and neighbors.
He is survived by a brother, Robert H. Meischen and wife, Anna of Yorktown; nephews, Robert T. Meischen and wife, Marilyn of Yorktown; James Meischen and wife, Yvonne of Victoria; and niece, Mary Steves and husband, Jerry of Yorktown and a number of great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Family visitation was Friday, June 11 at the Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. Funeral services were Saturday at the funeral home. Burial followed in Westside Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas.
Pallbearers are great niece and nephews: Deanna Roeder, Harlan Meischen, Robert Steves, David Steves, Jeffrey Meischen, and Charles Meischen.

Albert L. Sturm

Albert L. Sturm, 63, of Yorktown, died Sunday, June 13, 2004.
He was born on April 28, 1941 in Garfield to Herman Sturm and Elenora Warzecha. As a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, he attended Catholic School through the eighth grade and then went to Yorktown High School where he received his diploma. After graduation he joined the Army and served in Korea. When he came back, he started his welding career at Yorktown Machine Shop. He pursue a career at Victoria Machine Works and later went to York Welding after which he then started his own business, Sturm Welding Works. During this time, he also started ranching, which led to his designing and building of the Sturm Root Plow and Renovator. Throughout his life, he enjoyed great adventures in hunting and fishing.
Survivors: wife, Lorene Buendel Sturm of Yorktown; son, Ricky Sturm, also of Yorktown; stepdaughters, Renee Barry of Austin and Wynne Manning of Victoria; mother, Elenora Sturm of Yorktown; brothers, Wilbert Sturm of Yorktown, Herman Sturm, Marvin Sturm, and James Sturm, all of Victoria, Raymond Sturm of Devers, and Alvin Sturm of Pasadena; sisters, Sister Mary Ellen Sturm of New Mexico, Janet Sturm of Yorktown, and Linda King of Edna; one granddaughter; four step-granddaughters; four step-grandsons; and two step-great-grandsons.
Preceded in death by: father, Herman Sturm, and brother, Robert Sturm.
A rosary was recited Tuesday, June 15 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home in Yorktown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Wilbert Sturm, Herman Sturm, A. J. Sturm, Marvin Sturm, Tom Barry, and Alvin Sturm.
Memorials: Hospice of South Texas or Donor’s choice.

Vernon W. Hess Jr.

Vernon W. Hess Jr., 77, of Cuero, died Friday, June 11, 2004.
He was born Sept. 24, 1926 in Cuero to the late Percy Vernon and Bertha Hadamek Hesse. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and was a Master Carpenter for Texas Eastern Transmission for 23 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dovie DeDear Hess of Cuero; daughter, Dee Hall of Cuero; sons, Mike Hess of Cuero, Rick Hess of Highlands, and Jeff Hess and Johnny Hess, both of Buda; brothers, John P. Hesse of Yorktown and Little Buddy Riley of Gonzales; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Terry Hess and Jerry Hess; and grandson, James Alan Hess.
Visitation was Saturday, June 12 at Freund Funeral Chapel. Services were Monday at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Kevin Hogan, Ray Williams, Dale Clarke, Dennis Hesse, James Hesse, and Derek Hess.
Honorary pallbearers: great-grandchildren.
Memorials: National Kidney Foundation or donor's choice.

Juan Medina

Juan Medina, 52, of Runge, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2004.
He was born Aug. 18, 1951, in Runge, to the late Elberto and Gregoria Ramirez Medina. He was a member of the Runge Volunteer Fire Department and a night watchman for the City of Runge. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Survivors: wife, Modesta Medina; special companion, Dora Garza of Runge; daughter, Barbara Medina of Kenedy; sons, Juan Medina Jr., Julio Medina, and Jeremiah Medina, all of Victoria, and Noe Medina of Lubbock; sisters, Lupe Medina of Panna Maria and Mary Serna of Poth; brothers, Barney Medina of Kenedy and Lucio Medina of El Paso; and three grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: three brothers.
A rosary was recited on Friday, June 11 at Janssen Funeral Home Chapel in Runge. Services were held Saturday, June 12 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with Rev. Paschal Bergin officiating. Interment followed at Stockton Cemetery in Charco.
Memorials: Donor’s choice.

Johnnie L. Boysen

Johnnie L. Boysen, 76, of Cuero, died Monday, June 7, 2004.
He was born June 13, 1927 in Edinburg to the late Herbert H. and Leona E. Goehring Boysen. Johnnie served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. after 33 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #3972, American Legion Dinter Post 3, and the Telephone Pioneers. He was a Lutheran.
He is survived by an aunt, Nita Breitschopf of Austin and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three aunts, Lillian Fortune, Vera Boysen, and Willie Mae Koehler.
Graveside services were Friday, June 11 at the Westhoff Cemetery, the Rev. Stephen Byrne officiated. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Anna Boldt

Anna Boldt, 50, of Yorktown, died Friday, May 28, 2004.
She was born Feb. 2, 1954, in Erlangen, Germany, to the late Stefan and Maria Balabuch Typusiak. She was owner and manager of Boldt's Country Market and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: husband, Gary Boldt; daughter, Cierra Boldt of Yorktown; sons, Mark Boldt of Yorktown, Timmy Boldt of Austin, and Stefan Boldt of Victoria; sister, Nasta Kabl of Erlangen, Germany; brothers, Jurko Typusiak and Waisil Typusiak, both of Erlangen, Germany; and two grandchildren, Kortney and Zachary Boldt.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 2 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary was also recited Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Services were Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was at Westside Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Debra K. Krause

Debra Kaye Krause, 51, of Yorktown, died Friday, May 28, 2004.
She was born Jan. 24, 1953, in Yorktown, to the late Norman and Grace Ackermann Boldt. She was a secretary for Weischwill & Lemke Insurance Company, a clerk for the City of Yorktown, and a cashier for grocery stores. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors: husband, Wayne E. Krause; and brothers, Glenn Boldt of Cuero and Gary Boldt of Yorktown.
Preceded in death by: brother, Rodney Boldt.
Visitation was held Wednesday, June 2 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was at Westside Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Robert L. Terrell

Robert Lee "Rusty" Terrell, 79, of Cuero, died Thursday, June 3, 2004.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1925 in Clifton to the late Robert T. and Beulah Mae Williams Terrell. He worked as a tool pusher in the oilfield for Seller Lease Service in Flatonia. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Rodriguez Terrell; daughter, Barbara Shutter of Victoria; step-daughters, Shirley Alvarez, Jo Ann Anzaldua, Lillian Nava, and Judy Guerrero, all of Cuero; step-sons, Woodrow Salles and James W. Salles, both of Cuero; sisters, Ruby Faye Sparks of Waco, Betty Johnson of Geary, Oklahoma, and Carol Hunnicutt of Valley Mills; brothers, Donald Terrell and Jackie Terrell, both of Clifton, and Johnny Terrell of Valley Mills; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Deaver; brothers, Billie Joe Terrell, Vernon Terrell, and Kenneth Terrell; and one grandchild.
Visitation was Sunday, June 6 at Freund Funeral Home. Services were Monday at the funeral home chapel. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
