Linda Marie Reamy

Linda Marie Reamy, age 58, of Cuero, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004.
She was South Texas Cluster Nurse Manager, RN/BSN for the UTMB, Galveston.
She was a Captain in the Vietnam War serving in Field Hospital in the Nurses Corp.
She was born in Aberdeen, Washington, on Oct. 21, 1945 to Tom and Diane Thestrup DiFazio of Bellevue, Washington.
Linda is survived by her husband, Michael Reamy of Cuero; daughters, Elizabeth (Matt) Darden of Dallas and Monica Reamy of The Woodlands; grandchildren, Preston and Bennett Darden; and sister, Angelina DiFazio of Cypress.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 18 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Glenn Robertson officiated.

Hilda Ella Burnett

Hilda Ella Wisian Burnett, age 89, of Cuero, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004.
She was born June 20, 1915 to the late August Theodore and Anna Julia Wundt Wisian in Robstown.
She was a homemaker and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Hilda is survived by two brothers, Edwin Wisian of Nordheim and Ernest Wisian of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Victoria Janis Burnett of Cuero, Dinah Frances Burnett-Mueller, David Wayne Burnett, Anthony Paul Burnett, Rodney Wayne Burnett, all of Victoria, and Leslie Carol Burnett-Deal of Yorktown; and 14 great-grandchildren, Monica Lee Stary-Schustereit of Inez, Kolle Wayne Otto of Cuero, Austin Max, Drew Wayne, Zachery Clayton Mueller, Alyssa Marie, Charli Renee Burnett, Jamie Marie, Jacob Paul, Christopher Ryan Burnett, Meagan Renee, Clara Ann Burnett, all of Victoria, and Colten Jay and Heather Marie Randall of Yorktown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Burnett, and three children, Georgina Burnett, Carlene Burnett-Garrett, and George Wayne Burnett.
Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 19 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel in Cuero, Rev. Steve Byrne officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Christopher Schustereit, Mike McDonough, James R. Deal, Colten Jay Randall, Austin Mueller, and Drew Mueller.
Honorary Pallbearers: David Wayne Burnett, Anthony Paul Burnett, and Rodney Wayne Burnett.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or donor's choice.

Arjorie Franklin Haynes

Arjorie Franklin Haynes, 66, of Cuero and formerly of El Campo, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004.
She was born July 11, 1938 to the late Elroy and Ardelia Cook Franklin. She was a sales clerk and a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of El Campo.
She is survived by her step-daughters Marcella Gile of Pearland and Erma Jean Fitzpatrick of San Francisco, California; step-son, Keathel Haynes Jr. of Sickleville, New Jersey; sisters, Byrta Franklin, Alice Brown, and Josephine Franklin, all of Cuero; and brothers, Andy Franklin of Cuero and George Franklin of Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keathel Haynes; parents; sisters, Leoma Johnson, Georgia Bell Denson, and Hazel Robinson; and brothers, Elroy Franklin Jr., Amos Franklin Sr., and Billy Franklin Henderson.
Visitation was Tuesday, Sept. 14 at Freund Funeral Chapel. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero, with Rev. Robert L. Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Troy Duruisseau, Andy Franklin, Amos Franklin Jr., Qwentel Denson, Barbara Mondrike, and Alice Laitkep.
Honorary pallbearers: Y’Kuiam Denson, John Denson, Elroy Denson, Carlton Franklin, Kenneth Denson, and Terry Nobles.

Richard Alvarez Jr.

Richard Alvarez Jr., infant son of Richard Alvarez Sr. and April Kubala, of Nordheim, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004.
Richard was born Sept. 4, 2004, in Victoria.
Survivors: half sister, Azaleha Alvarez of Runge; and brothers, Dilon R. Alvarez and Matthew Kubala, both of Nordheim.
Services are pending at Janssen Funeral Home, Runge, 830-239-4862.

Mack L. Gonzales

Mack L. Gonzales, 89, of Cuero, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004.
He was born April 24, 1915, in Inez, to the late Manuel and Aleveda Liendo Gonzales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a commercial photographer in San Antonio. He was also a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a life member of Cuero VFW Post No. 3972.
Survivors: sister, Margaret Garcia of Houston; and brother, Alfonso Gonzales of Cuero.
Preceded in death by: sister, Josephine Aleman; and brothers, Alfred Gonzales, David Gonzales, and Felix Liendo.
A rosary was recited Monday, Sept. 13 at Freund Funeral Home. Services were Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial, with military honors, was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Michael Gonzales, David Garcia, Ricky Dowlearn, Anthony Garcia, Manual Garcia, and Drew Dowlearn.

Joe W. Meuret Sr.

Joe W. Meuret Sr., 87, of Nordheim, died Monday, Sept. 6, 2004.
He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Nopal, to the late Phillip and Louise Boerm Meuret. He was a farmer and rancher and worked for Norris Lumber Company, Home Lumber Company, and Gulf Coast Wood Products Company. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors: wife, Helga Buelter Meuret; daughter, Jolene Meuret of Corpus Christi; son, Joe W. Meuret Jr. of Freer; sister, Ida Mallory of Pinehurst; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: sisters, Elviria Meuret, Alma Dittfurth, and Pauline Buelter.
Visitation was Wednesday, Sept. 8 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services were also Wednesday at the funeral home, the Rev. Patti Byrne officiating. Burial was at Nordheim Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Minnie R. Moehrig

Minnie Rau Moehrig, 101, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
She was born June 20, 1903, in Wiedeville, to the late Fritz Sr. and Louise Kalkhake Rau. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wiedeville and attended Wiedeville School.
Survivors: daughter, Charlene Forster of Floresville; son, Elkhart Moehrig of Yorktown; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Elkhart Moehrig Sr.; numerous sisters and brothers; and one granddaughter.
Visitation was Friday, Sept. 10 at Brookehill Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Brookehill Funeral Home, San Antonio, 210-923-7523.

Larry G. Hyden

Larry G. Hyden, 57, passed away Jan. 24, 2005 In Cuero, Texas. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Dee Hyden. He is survived by his wife, Jacqui Hyden; his five, Heather Stokes and Kendra White (Jason), both of Atlanta, Georgia, Taylor Hyden of Corpus Christi, Claudia Schmidt Hyden of Cuero, and Erin Hicks of Houston; his father, A.G. “Glenn” Hyden (Mildred) of Corpus Christi; his brother, Kenneth Hyden (Lavonne) of Gonzales; his sisters, Sue Ellen Weiss (Timothy) of Austin and Lou Etta Hyden of New Braunfels; two grandchildren, Zakary and Hannah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was born in Corsicana, Texas on Dec. 7, 1947 and moved to Corpus Christi in 1961. He attended Ray High High School, Del Mar College, Texas A&I University, and St. Mary’s School of Law, graduating in 1974. He served in the United States Army National Guard. Larry further served as the briefing attorney for Judge Price Daniels of the Texas Supreme Court a year before ultimately returning to Corpus Christi to practice law. He practiced in Corpus Christi for 28 years before retiring to do public service work as an assistant District Attorney in Cuero. Larry gained tremendous respect from both his colleagues and clients. While Corpus Christi was his residence for many years and home to family and many friends, Larry and his family later moved to DeWitt County where he truly felt a connection with the people of Cuero. He loved his ranch, the outdoors (hunting and fishing), his family, and was a dedicated and true friend to many. Larry knew no stranger and greeted all with an infectious smile and warm embrace. Larry was a great provider, seeking and accepting responsibility as if it was just a part of his life’s plan. Larry was a doer, he turned thoughts into action and successfully fulfilled his dreams.
A celebration of life was held Friday, Jan. 28 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church. Services were handled by Seaside Funeral Home in Corpus Christi. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the DeWitt County Restoration project or the St. Mary’s School of Law, Larry G. Hyden Scholarship Fund.

Willie Johnson

Willie Johnson, 50, of Austin, formerly of Cuero, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005.
He was born June 15, 1954, in DeWitt County, to Pearline Johnson of San Antonio and the late Marion Johnson Sr. He was a stockman for H.E.B. Grocery.
Survivors: daughter, Keisha L. Ransom of Ft. Worth; son, Kendrick W. Ransom of Austin; sisters, Mildred Reed of Austin, Carolyn Watts of San Antonio, and Freddie Mae Harper of Hallettsville; brothers, Rev. Elvin Johnson and Marion Johnson Jr., both of Cuero, Albert Johnson of San Antonio, and Andrew Johnson of Lubbock.
Services were Tuesday at Little Zion Church in Cuero, the Rev. Jimmy Powell officiated. Burial was at Lockhart Community Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Travis A. Cain

Travis Ann Cain, 62, of Cuero and formerly of Temple Hills, Maryland, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005.
She was born Nov. 22, 1942, in Galveston, to Jethro Cain of Houston and Annie Mae Cain of Cuero. She was a retired program manager for the Department of Justice and a Catholic.
Survivors: mother, Annie Cain of Cuero; father, Jethro Cain of Houston; and aunt, Ernestine Kitchen of Cuero.
Visitation was Friday, Jan. 28 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Saturday at the funeral home, Deacon Tony Warzecha officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Alexander Kitchen, Corey Scott, Corion Scott, Stefon Hargrove, Roosevelt Hale, and Robert James Brooks.

Rose B. Parchman

Rose Biemer Parchman, 88, of Houston, formerly of Yorktown, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2005.
She was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Nopal, to the late Alois an Annie Volney Biemer. She was a school district employee and a Catholic.
Survivors: daughters, Barbara Parchman-Wong of Salt Lake City, Utah and Martha Willemsen of Fairfax, California; son, James Parchman of Montgomery; sister, Mary Anne Bianchi of Victoria; brothers, Paul Biemer and Leonard Biemer, both of San Antonio; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: sister, Hedwig E. Maurer; brothers, Bernard Biemer and Alexander Biemer.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.
