Ofelia Flores Garcia, 77, of Cuero died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004.
She was born Aug. 19, 1927, in Cuero, to the late Leandro and Elvira Longoria Flores. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Survivors: companion, Felipe Gutierrez; daughters, Estolia (Toya) Garcia, Linda Garcia, and Yvonne Rodriguez, all of Victoria; son, Jerry L. Garcia of Beeville; sister, Ernestina Gutierrez of Edna; brother, Louis Flores of Brownsville, and Henry Flores of Cuero; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Domingo Garcia; sons, John F. Garcia, Domingo Garcia Jr., Anthony Garcia, and Armando F. Garcia; sisters, Celidina Basquez and Catilda Vasquez; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A rosary was recited Thursday, Nov. 18 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Friday at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, the Rev. Wolfgang Mimms officiated. Burial was at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-578-3535.
Pallbearers: Jamie Garcia, Edward Garcia, Gilbert Garcia, Sam Garcia, Michael Rodriguez, and Nathan Garcia.

Isabel Herrera

Isabel Herrera, 54, of Nordheim, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004.
She was born July 7, 1950, in Sydney, Montana, to the late Jesus and Petra Deleon Castro. She was a homemaker and a member of Apostolic Church.
Survivors: husband, Juan Herrera; daughters, Debra A. Herrera of Victoria, Jerri J. Herrera and Imy D. Herrera, both of Nordheim; sons, John Wayne Castro of Mather, California, Juan Herrera Jr. and David Herrera, both of Victoria, and James Herrera of Nordheim; sister, Gina Castro of Corpus Christi; brothers, Jesus Castro Jr. of Nordheim, and Celestino Castro of Austin; and two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, Jesus Guadalupe; and one brother, Francisco Castro.
Visitation was Thursday, Nov. 18 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. A prayer service was also held Thursday at the funeral home. Services were Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial was at St. Ann Cemetery. Lamprect-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Roseline Guenther

Roseline Guenther, 81, of Cuero, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004.
She was born June 1, 1923, in Westhoff, to the late Henry J. and Josephine Mader Schaffner. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Westhoff.
Survivors: daughters; Rose Dueitt of Conroe, Martha Bludau of Hallettsville, and June Guenther of Cuero; and five grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Harry O. Guenther; sister, Lillie Copeland; brothers, Alfred Schaffner, Robert Schaffner, Henry Schaffner, and Johnnie Schaffner; and granddaughter, Rachel Dueitt.
Visitation was Monday, Nov. 22 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Tuesday at the funeral home, the Rev. William Hill officiated. Burial was at Westhoff Cemetery, Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Jerry Dueitt, Matthew Bludau, jerry Dueitt Jr., Edward Schwenke, Leland Copeland, and Durwood Branstetter.

Jacob Stehling, 83, of Yorktown, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004.

Rev. Dr. B. T. Cherry

A memorial service for Rev. Dr. B. T. Cherry, moderator of Mt. Zion District Association, was held Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the L. E. Meador Encampment Grounds in Cuero. Visitation for Dr. Cherry was Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Lewis Funeral Home, 811 S. W. W. White Rd. in San Antonio, from 5 - 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in San Antonio, Rev. R. L. Archield Sr. will officiate.

Nancy Keese

Nancy Keese, 89, of Cuero, and formerly of Bay City and Sweeny, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004.
She was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Meridian, Mississippi, to the late George Lester Sr. and Launa Gladney Williams. She was a clerk for International Harvester.
Survivors: daughter, Nanetta Ryman Mingus of Boerne; son, Buzz Edge of Cuero; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: husband, Raymond Keese; parents; sister, Maxine Wardlaw; and brother, George L. Williams.
Visitation was Thursday, Dec. 16 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Friday at the funeral home, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Todd Ryman, Rickey Edge, Trey Walton, Chris Maynard, Dwayne Ryman, and Kyle Ryman.

Carolina Broll

Carolina “Carrie” Broll, 87, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004.
She was born Nov. 4, 1917, in Yorktown, to the late Nicholas and Ursula Biemer Warzecha. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: daughter, Bernice Zaiontz of Yorktown; sons, Robert Broll of Kenedy, and Daniel Broll and Leonard Broll, both of Yorktown; sisters, Rose Syzdek of Pasadena and Mary Parchman of San Antonio; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: husband, Leonard C. Broll; infant twin sons; and sister, Elizabeth Tam Kolodziej.
A vigil service was held Friday, Dec. 17 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Saturday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Oscar R. Orellana

Oscar R. Orellana, 48, of Cuero, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004.
He was born Aug. 21, 1956, in S.P.S. Cortez, Honduras. He was a craftsman for Superior Refinishing.
He is survived by his employer, Nadine (Dee) Henneke and other friends.
Graveside services were Monday, Dec. 20 at New Hope Cemetery, the Rev. Sam Jenkins officiated.

Johnnie C. Schlinke

Johnnie C. Schlinke, 90, of Weesatche, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004 in Goliad.
He was born Nov. 1, 1914 to the late Oscar and Johanna Wolter Schlinke Sr. in Cheapside. He married Emma Oehlke on Nov. 25, 1937.
He is survived by his sisters, Martha Oehlke and Agnes Oehlke, both of Goliad, and Johanna Wild and Lillian Roznovsky, both of Cuero; brother, Walter Schlinke of Nordheim; grandchildren, Tom and Derinda Fales of Victoria and John and Anglea Pittman of Norfolk, Virginia. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Christopher and Hunter Fales and Emma Pittman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma Schlinke; daughters, JoAnn Cobb and Charlene Herring; sister, Rosie Cross; and brother, Oscar Schlinke Jr.
Visitation was Monday, Dec. 20 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. Funeral services were Tuesday at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Weesatche, C. B. Suggs officiated. Interment followed in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Arrangements by Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.
Memorials can be made to St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.

Marie Voelkel Holy

Marie Voelkel Holy, 86, of Hallettsville, died Dec. 15, 2004.
She was born on Appelt’s Hill on April 1, 1918 to Otto and Leona Appelt Brogger, the oldest of four children. Marie was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Women’s Auxiliary -- Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include son, Paul Voelkel and wife Theresa of Hallettsville; son, Jim Voelkel and wife Cathy of Cuero; daughter, Linda Ward and husband Dave of Austin; four grandchildren; four great-grandsons; sister, Ann Birkner of Hallettsville; brother, Otto Brogger Sr. and wife Lazelle of Rockdale.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Arthur Voelkel and Alfred “Fritz” Holy; and brother, James Brogger.
Visitation was Saturday, Dec. 18 at Kubena Funeral Home Chapel in Hallettsville. A Rosary followed the visitation. A Funeral Mass was held Dec. 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, Father John Peters officiated. Burial followed at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Celestina P. Coronado

Celestina P. Coronado passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2002 at her residence in New Braunfels at the age of 66 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Coronado Martinez and husband Raul of LasCruces, NM; two sons, Francisco Coronado of New Braunfels and John Coronado and wife Olivia of New Braunfels; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa P. Munoz, Elena P. Lopez, Ramona P. Garcia and Dominga P. Vasquez; and four brothers, Daniel Partida, Paul Partida, Johnny Partida, and Jimmy Partida.
Visitation was Monday, June 3 at Zoeller Funeral Home. Services were Wednesday at the Zoeller Funeral Home, interment followed at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.

Richard H. Whitehead

Richard H. Whitehead, 74, of Thomaston died Sunday, June 2, 2002.
He was born March 7, 1928, in Taft, to the late Walter and Wilma McCammon Whitehead. He served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors: wife, May D. Whitehead; daughters, Vivian Preiss of Houston and Sharon Williams of Port Lavaca; son, Alan Whitehead of Victoria; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: sister, Grace Whitehead; brothers, Everett Whitehead, Walter Whitehead Jr., Marvin Edward Whitehead; one great-grandchild; and parents.
Services were Tuesday, June 4 at Colonial Funeral Home North, the Rev. Gene Rice officiated. Graveside services under the auspices of Victoria Veterans Council, VFW, CWV, DAV, American Legion, Marine Corps League, the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Crossroads Ex-POWs and the Military Order of the World Wars were at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Leona Rohan Stepanski

Leona Rohan Stepanski, 74, a long-time resident of Olivia, died Monday, June 3, 2002.
She was born November 26, 1927, in Sweethome, to the late Louis and Mary (Roller) Rohan. She lived her early years in Davy and Yorktown. She married Martin Stepanski on June 17, 1946.
She is survived by her husband Martin Stepanski of Olivia; son, Andrew Stepanski of San Antonio; daughter, Theresa Groll of Victoria; son-in-law, Dennis Groll, Sr. of Victoria; granddaughter, Camille Groll of Victoria; grandson, Dennis Groll, Jr. of Waco; sister, Martha Rohan Smith of McAllen; brother Sylvester Rohan of Point Comfort, and sister Letha Mae Rohan Borgfeld of Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Mary Rohan Mortellaro.
A rosary was held Wednesday, June 5 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. Funeral services will were Thursday, June 6 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown, Rev. Frank Lenz officiated. Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements by Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, Texas (361) 564-2277.

Carl A. Schellpepper

Carl A. Schellpepper, 76, of Yorktown, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002
He was born Dec. 17, 1925, in Arneckeville, to the late Wilhem F. and Hermine Luder Schellpepper. He was a tool pusher and member of the VFW.
Survivors: wife, Joyce Pawlik Schellpepper; stepdaughter, Bonnie German of Weimer; and two step-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: first wife, Gerdie Mae Seiler Schellpepper; son, Michael Scott Schellpepper; sister Emily Dickens; one infant sister; and parents.
Family visitation was Friday, June 7 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home chapel. Services were Saturday at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Billy Koinm officiated. Burial was at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.
