Martha R. Rossett

Martha R. Rossett, 82, of Runge, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004.
She was born in Runge on Dec. 15, 1921 to the late Pablo and Faustina Galvan Ramos. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Rosary Society and Guadalupanas.
She is survived by her sons, Roy R. Rossett of Cuero and Oscar Rossett of Houston; sister, Connie Garza of Tyler; brother, Natividad Ramos of Karnes City; six grandchildren, Jerald Rossett, Yvonne Medrano, Darryl Rossett, Erika Morria, Russell Rossett, and Ashley Rossett; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Rossett Sr.; son, Jerry Rossett; parents; sister, Natalie Rosenbaum; and brother, Augustine Ramos.
Visitation was Sunday, Sept. 5 at Janssen Funeral Home in Runge. A Rosary was said Sunday as well. Mass was held Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Rev. Paschal Bergin officiated. Janssen Funeral Home, Runge, 830-239-4862.
Pallbearers: Jerald Rossett, Darryl Rossett, Russell Rossett, Oscar Rossett, and Josh Medrano.
Honorary pallbearers: Robert Ramirez, Russell Osburn, Floyd Lott, and Robert Ramos.

Gregoria Sanchez Garza

Gregoria Sanchez Garza, 70, of Cuero, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004.
She was born May 18, 1934, in Victoria County, to the late Francisco and Francisca Sallavedra Sanchez. She was a seamstress and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She worked for Tex Tan Leather Products.
Survivors: husband, Nazario "Charlie" Garza; daughters, Esther Francis of Struthers, Ohio, and Terry Thomas of Cuero; sons, Emil C. Garza Sr. of Cuero and Mario J. Garza of Austin; sisters, Dominga Gutierrez, Josephine Valdez, and Mary Ann Garcia, all of Victoria; brothers, Genaro Sanchez of DaCosta and Steven Sanchez of Victoria; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: parents and sisters, Aurelio Sanchez, Sara Sanchez, and Sabina Cavazos.
A rosary was recited Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Kirby Hlavaty officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, 361-275-2343.
Pallbearers: Rachael E. Hernandez, Stephanie L. Garza, Kristen M. Thomas, Emil C. Garza Jr., Mark A. Thomas, and Steven I. Francis.

Patricia Pitts

Patricia Pitts, 63, of Iola, passed away Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004.
She was born Dec. 8, 1940, in Waxahachie. She was a homemaker and a Past President and Past Secretary of the Keith Civic Club. She was also a member of the Grimes County Extension Club. She was a Lutheran.
Survivors: husband, Glenn Pitts of Iola; sons, Danny (Norma) Pitts of LaVernia and Jim Pitts of Rosenberg; daughters, Melissa Pitts and Kristen Matticks, both of Stafford; brother, Lee Conder of Joshua; sister, Nancy Hahn of Cuero; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Westside Cemetery in Yorktown, with Pastor Patti Byrne officiating. Arrangements with Hillier Funeral Home, Bryan, Texas.

Leonides Garcia

Leonides Garcia, 69, of Yorktown, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004.
He was born Nov. 6, 1934, in DeWitt County, to Amalia Garza Garcia of Yorktown and the late Federico Garcia. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for South Texas Construction Co. and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Survivors: wife, Mary Emma Salinas Garcia; daughter, Melinda Alvarez of Victoria; sons, Joe Garcia of Yorktown and Ray Garcia of Pleasanton; sister, Elisa Arguelles of Temple; brothers, Ysrael Garcia of San Antonio and Ynocencio Garcia of Yorktown; and eight grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: son, Jesse Garcia; sister, Guadalupe Salinas; and brother, Amador Garcia.
Visitation was Wednesday, Aug. 25 at Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home Chapel. A vigil service and rosary were recited Wednesday at the funeral home. Services were Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Burial was at San Luis Catholic Cemetery. Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home, Yorktown, 361-564-2277.

Edwin Schuenemann

Edwin "Monty" Schuenemann, 50, of Meyersville, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004.
He was born Nov. 26, 1953, in Alice to Peggy Cunningham of Victoria and the late Max Biddix. He was an oil field worker and Baptist.
Survivors: daughters, Ana Schuenemann and Jenita Schuenemann, both of Meyersville, and Destinee Verno of Victoria; son, Stephen Verno of Corpus Christi; sister, Cheryl Green of Corpus Christi; grandmother, Genita Gerland of Victoria; and two grandchildren.
Visitation was Monday, Aug. 30 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Tuesday at the funeral home. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-578-3535.
Memorials: America Diabetes Foundation or Crossroads Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Ervin F. Hilbrich

Ervin F. Hilbrich was born March 5, 1923 in Westhoff, and passed away Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004 at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Agnes and Gus Hilbrich, and sister, Lillie Hilbrich.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and stationed in Germany during World War II. He was a member of the Martinez Social Club since 1975, Hermann Sons, and charter member of of Lord of Life Lutheran Church. He retired from kelly Air Force Base after 30 years of service in 1981.
Ervin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Loraine Hilbrich; daughter, Brenda Albrecht and husband Leroy; daughter, Donna Scheel and husband Bob; son, Arlen Hilbrich and wife Beverly; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sister, Audrey Jean Wendel of Cuero.
Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 26 at Sunset Funeral Home in San Antonio. Services were Friday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Pastor Michael W. Lawrence-Weden officiated. Interment with military honors followed at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio, 210-828-2811.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 5955 FM 78, San Antonio, Texas 78244.

Irl J. Parr

Irl James Parr, 69, of Cuero, died Monday, June 2, 2003.
He was born June 17, 1933, in Westhoff, to the late Leonard Lonnie and Maggie Mae Casey Parr. He worked for Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. for 38 years. He served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Nelda Cooper Parr of Cuero; daughters, Laurie Ann Stokley of Conroe and Melody Borden of Houston; sons, Lesley Irl Parr of Yoakum, Kenneth Ray Parr of Leming, and Lonnie Dell Parr of Cuero; sisters, Mary Louise Michlek and Helen Jeannette Hoehne, both of Cuero; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents; sister, Lottie Parr Meitzen; and brothers, Oscar John Parr, Lesley Parr, Enis Parr, and Floyd Parr.
Visitation was Thursday, June 5 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Friday at Calvary Baptist Church in Cuero, the Rev. Bill Gleason officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Dominga R. Vidal

Dominga R. Vidal, 55, of Cuero, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
She was born September 14, 1947, in Cuero, to the late Johnnie J. Ruiz and Lucia Barbontin. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Survivors: husband, Candido G. Vidal; daughter, Adlea A. Anzualda of El Campo; sisters, Guadalupe Rios and Rosa Segura, both of Cuero and Lucia Cardenas of Waco; brothers, Juan J. Ruiz and Sabino Ruiz, both of Waco; and grandson, Rudy Anzualda Jr. of El Campo.
Preceded in death by: son, Miguel A. Ruiz; parents; and brother, Pedro Ruiz.

Alfreda Strait

Alfreda Strait, 102, of Cuero, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003.
She was born December 5, 1900, in DeWitt County, to the late William and Nancy Booker Henderson Battles. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Preceded in death by first husband, "Doc" Henderson; second husband, Mitchell Strait; one daughter; son, Sherman Henderson; parents; five sisters; and five brothers.
Visitation was Friday, June 6 at Freund Funeral Home Chapel. Services were Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church, Lockhart Community, the Rev. D. E. Wilson officiated. Burial was at Lockhart Cemetery. Freund Funeral Home, Cuero, 361-275-2343.

Joseph James Ross

Joseph James Ross, 84, of Cuero, died Thursday, June 5, 2003.
He was born March 6, 1919, in Victoria County, to the late William "Bill" and Cadelia Williams Ross. He was a forklift driver and warehouse foreman for the cotton mill and a Methodist.
Survivors: daughters, Jean Eldridge and Dorothy Faye Brown, both of Cuero, and Carol Annette Pickens of Austin; sons, Joseph Ray Ross of Victoria, Derrick Ross of Cuero, and Mitchell Ross of Nederland; sisters, Elisa Ross of Cuero, Marie Johnson of San Antonio, and Elene Williams of California; brother, Shirley Ross of Cuero and Curtis Ross of Placedo; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by wife, Doris Lee Littles Ross; daughter, Dee Etta Ross Johnson; sons, Leonard Roy Ross, Herman Ross, and Russell Ross; parents; sister, Addie Wilkins; and brothers, Glen Ross and Harold Ross.

Noyce Carey

Noyce Carey, 88, of Gonzales, died Feb. 9, 2004.
She was born Dec. 20, 1915 in McGregor to the late Edwin B. and Hazel Porterfield Fore. She was a homemaker and a member of Monthalia United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Westmoreland of Monthalia; sons, Don Carey, Preston Carey, and Alan Carey, all of Houston; sister, Camilla Copenhaver of Cuero; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul P. Carey, and brother, Edwin B. Fore Jr.

John M. Clark

John Milton Clark, 76, of Cuero, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004.
He was born May 20, 1927, in DeLeon, to the late Charles and Annie Margaret Estes Clark. He was a supervisor for Midwestern Gas and a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors: wife, Armande M. Clark; daughters, Michele Ray of Westhoff and Melissa Breeden of Webster; sons, Richard Clark of Waxahachie and Robert Clark of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters, Mary Hammond of Waco and Patricia Brown of Midlothian; brothers, Charles M. Clark of Miami, Florida, and Buster Clark of Houston; and seven grandchildren.
