Margaret F. Mobley
OVERTON — Funeral services for Margaret F. Mobley, 65, of Overton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wesley Veazy and Charles Marshall officiating.
Burial will be in Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Henderson.
Mrs. Mobley died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 in a Henderson hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1936 in Adell to the late Jack Culberson and Maggie Lee Pendergraft Garland. She married Donald J. Mobley June 6, 1959 and moved to the Overton area in 1965 from Breckenridge. She was a homemaker and had worked as a nursery attendant for Arp Emmanuel Baptist Church. She was a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church and had served as church treasurer and an avid supporter of the grandchildren’s sports activities clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mobley on April 26, 2000. She was also preceded by six brothers, Charlie Garland, Orville Garland, Jack Vernon Garland, Ray Dean Garland, Randall Garland, and Billy Garland; and one sister, Annie Jewel Spurlock.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Marsha and Doug Swaim, Kilgore; one brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Norma Garland, Weatherford; one sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Melvin Nelson; two grandsons, Dustin and Daniel Swaim, Kilgore; numerous nieces and nephews; and three special friends, Cheryl Mulligan, Delanie Briggs and Debbie Goff.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Livingston and Pete Goff.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Lucille Philpot Smith
Services for Lucille Philpot Smith, 87, of Liberty City, were held at 10 a.m. today, Sept. 17, 2002 at the Rader Funeral home Chapel in Kilgore with Minister Leamon G. Keele officiating. Burial followed in the Friendship Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joseph Scott Smith, Michael Kevin Smith, Jeff Pearson, Donald Wilson, L.H. Elmore, and John Edward Philpot.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday at her residence.
She was born Nov. 2, 1914 in the Joy Community in Smith County, the daughter of William and Kate Philpot. She was a graduate of Sabine schools, a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul “Bud” Smith; a son, Joe Jack Smith; and her parents.
Survivors include a daughter, three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a brother, several nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

Annie Marie Manning
Services for Annie Marie Manning, of Kilgore, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at Westview Church of Christ with Brother John Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Pirtle Cemetery under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.
Ms. Manning died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
She was born April 6, 1956 to Arthur James Manning and Annie Mae Smith. She attended CB Dansby and Kilgore High School. Ms. Manning was a member of the Tigerettes Drill Team at CB Dansby. She also attended Kilgore College.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, and one brother.
Survivors include a daughter, April Lawler of Kilgore; her mother and step-father, Annie Mae and James Smith, both of Kilgore; father, Arthur James Manning of Kilgore; two sisters, Regina Bush of Kilgore and Wilma Manning of Waco; two brothers, Curly James Manning and James Smith, both of Kilgore; nine aunts; six uncles; three nieces; two nephews; and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.

Charles R. Smith
Graveside services for Charles R. Smith, 74, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Kilgore with the Rev. Roy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mr. Smith died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at his home in Kilgore.
He was born July 7, 1928 in Muleshoe, the son of Clarence and Mary Smith. Mr. Smith had lived in Kilgore since 1935. He was a retired truck driver from Bolt Fuel Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Chuck Copeland.
Survivors include his wife, Della Fae Smith of Kilgore; two sons, Aaron Smith and Jesse Davis; four daughters, Caroline White, Martha Copeland, Jeannie Smith and Rose Esquivel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 until 8 p.m.

Kenneth W. Jordan
Graveside services for Kenneth W. Jordan,71, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Earl W. “Buddy” Duggins officiating. Burial will follow under the directions of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore
Mr. Jordan died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at his home in Kilgore.
He was born Dec. 10, 1930 in Lamesa to G.M. and Irene Jordan. He was a longtime member of the Forest Home Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was the owner and operator of Bee Line Well Service, Inc. in Kilgore and was very instrumental with the merger between Bee Line Well Services, Inc. and Tetra Applied Technologies, L.P. of Houston. He attended the Gaston School. Mr. Jordan also served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.M. and Irene Jordan; one sister, Dorothy Goodwin; and one brother, George Jordan.
Survivors include his wife, Edalene Jordan of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lane and Joy Jordan of Kilgore and Kenneth W. Jordan, Jr. of Kilgore; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Billie Currie of Joliet, Ill. and Jo Terrier of Port Arthur.
Memorial donations may be made to the Marshall Taylor Scholarship Fund, Forest Home Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1340, Kilgore, Texas 75663.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Lainie Bea DeJong Ortega
Graveside services for Lainie Bea DeJong Ortega, 33, of Troup, will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Salem Cemetery near Wright City under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mrs. Ortega died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 in Austin.
She was born Nov. 6, 1968 in Grayling, Mich. and was a 1987 honors graduate of Jacksonville High Shcool where she was a member of the drill team, and later attended Tyler Junior College with honors.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin C. DeJong.
Survivors include her mother, Brenda Jones of Troup; her husband, Gregg Ortega of Troup; three daughters, Winona, Sally and Leah Ortega, all of Troup; one son, Jesse Ortega of Troup; a brother, Joe DeJong of Troup; a step-sister, Dawn Cucchia of Dickinson; a step-brother, Monte DeJong of Sioux Falls, S.D.; paternal grandmother, Mary DeJong of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and several other family and friends.
The family requests memorials be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 2050, Tyler, Texas 75710.

Hilda Ligon Gildart
Services for Hilda Gildart, 96, longtime resident of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore with Rev. Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Burial will be at Kilgore City Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral home. She died Sunday, May 6, 2001 in Longview, Texas.
Born Sept. 20, 1904 at Kerrville, Texas, Mrs. Gildart was married to Gordon Gildart at Electra, Texas on April 8, 1924. The family moved to Kilgore in April, 1931. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987, youngest daughter, Joann Hill in 1989 and oldest daughter, Emagene Wind in 1996.
Mrs. Gildart was an Elder Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore and had also served for six years as a deacon. She had been chairperson of the worship committee and had served on many other church committees. She was a past president of the Women-of-the Church where she had served two years. She had also been a circle chairman and Bible Moderator several times.
Mrs. Gildart was First Lady of Kilgore in 1983. She was a volunteer at Laird Hospital over nine years and was a life member at the time of her death. She was a volunteer at Helping Hands of Kilgore for several years.
In earlier years she had been active in PTA, serving one year as president of Laird Hill PTA in 1935-36 and for two years as President of Campus Ward PTA in 1938-40. She was also presented a life membership in PTA in December, 1983.
Mrs. Gildart was twice president of the Kilgore Woman’s Club and had served as President of the Magic Windows Art Club of Kilgore, the Gregg Shrine Club and the Social Order of the Beauceants in Kilgore. She was a 50 year member of Kilgore Chapter No. 530, Order of the Eastern Star of Kilgore and was a charter member of Sharuhan Temple No. 127, Daughters of the Nile at Tyler.
The Gildarts had three daughters, all school teachers. She is survived by one daughter, Frances Robinson of Memphis, Tenn. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Linda Dowdy of Wichita Falls, Janet and Wes Hennard of Plano, Ken Umbarger of Nacogdoches, Elton Robinson and Debra Robinson of Memphis, Tenn., David and Nancy Robinson of Covington, Tenn., Donna Evanoff of Carthage, and Jimmy and Jana Hill of Longview. There are also 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the scholarship fund at the First Presbyterian Church of Kilgore or to a charity of choice.

Josephine “Jo” Perkins
Services for Josephine “Jo” Perkins, 87, of Longview will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home, 1617, Judson, Road with Dr. Harry Lucenay officiating. Entombment will be in Lakeview Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Ted Roberts, Marion Turner, Bobby Bittick, Gary Sullins and Jim Crouch, all of Kilgore; and Louie Hubbard, Glen Brown and Bob Cain, all of Longview.
Mrs. Perkins passed away Sunday morning in a Longview hospital.
She was born Feb. 5, 1914 in Elizabeth, La. and had been a resident of Longview since 1986, coming here from Pitkin, La. She was a substitute teacher and for 15 years she worked in the school cafeteria in Pitkin, La. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Longview, where she was in the Saints Alive Choir. She was also a member of BXYZ and Keep In Touch (K.I.T.).
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gertrude and Charles Bisese of Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Perkins of Kilgore; brother, Dudley Austin of Cushing, Texas; sister, Leah Austin of Lafayette, La.; grandchildren, John C. Bisese, Nancy Bisese Lanham, Penni Perkins and Jana Perkins; and one great-grandchild, Jasan Lanham.
Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions to the Saints Alive Choir, c/o First Baptist Church, 209 E. South Street, Longview, Texas 75601.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday.

LARRY CHARLES SMITH
OVERTON — Services for Larry Charles Smith, 48, of Overton, will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2001 at Scott’s Memorial C.M.E. Church with the Revs. Billy Medlock, Emen Umah and Jimmy Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the Overton City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Cory Shackelford, Earnest Roy, Charles Shackleford, Wayne McFarland, Edgar Curry and Sambo Moody, Jr. The honorary pallbearers will be Pak-Sher employers and “My Dogs.”
Mr. Smith died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 as the result of an automobile accident southwest of New London.
He was born Sept. 9, 1952 in Overton and attended West Rusk schools. He was a supervisor at Pak-Sher, Inc. in Kilgore, where he was employed for 23 years. He was a member of Scott’s Memorial C.M.E. Church as well as the Young Men Lodge, No. 93 in Overton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John V. “Jack” and Mrs. Mae L. Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Smith; one son, Mark Smith of Overton; one daughter, Jennifer Smith of Houston; three brothers, J.V. and Cheryle Smith of Red Oak; Vertis Garrett of Dallas and James and Gloria Cary of Fort Worth and two sisters, Laverne and Ronald Watson of Dallas and Christine and James Domino.

William Carel Cagle
Services for Mr. William Carel Cagle, 58, of Leverett’s Chapel were 2 p.m. today, Nov. 9, 2001 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hoffpowier officiating. Burial followed in the Danville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Denver Cagle, Desmond Cagle, Ken Sackobson, Jerry Woods, Raymond Reynolds and Wavie “Shot” Goff.
Mr. Cagle died in Leverett’s Chapel Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001.
He was born in Pollard, Ark. He had lived in the East Texas area more than 55 years, and was a member of the Assembly of God faith. Mr. Cagle was a mechanic at C&H Engine in Kilgore for the past 15 years.
Survivors include his mother, Ora Mae Cagle of Kilgore; son and daughter-in-law, Clint and Mandy Cagle of Kilgore; daughter and son-in-law, Carlena and Charles Reddic of Baytown, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Burt and Connie Cagle of Kilgore and Mike and Janice Cagle of Kilgore; seven grandchildren, three nephews and a niece.
