Willie Adell O’Steen
Willie Adell O’Steen, 91, of Bowie, TX passed away June 10, 2002.
Mrs. O’Steen was born on October 30, 1910 in Stephen Co., TX She worked many years at Howard Wolf Sewing Factory as a seamstress. She married Guy O’Steen on January 19, 1982 in Wichita Falls, TX. Mrs. O’Steen attended First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. O’Steen were held on Thursday, June 13, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Cox officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Guy O’Steen, Bowie, TX; one son, Jimmy Dale Burnett, Mesquite, TX; four step-children, Danny O’Steen, Kaufman, TX, Terry O’Steen, Dallas, TX, Paul O’Steen, Bastroph, TX and LaNita Joyner, Odessa, TX; one son-in-law, Earl Gee, Early, TX; one sister, Wilma Patterson, Rising Star, TX; four grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; eleven step-great grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Jim Burnett and Ernest Gee, one daughter, Nona Gee and two sons at childbirth.
Pallbearers included: Earl Gee, Ronnie Gee, Larry Gee, Danny O’Steen, Terry O’Steen and Pual O’Steen.

Mary Anna Slater
Mary Anna Slater, 78, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on June 11, 2002.
Mrs. Slater was born on May 16, 1924 in Aubrey, TX to William Jackson and Effie Mae Nix. She married Alvin Ronald Slater on April 19, 1942 in Walters, OK. She retired after 20 years at Midwestern State University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Nocona where she taught children’s Sunday School classes for many years. She was a member of the American Business Women Association and was honored by being elected Woman of the Year. Mr. and Mrs. Slater were in the Roadrunners Square Dance Club and the Big Country Chaparrals and Holiday Ramblers Travel Club. Mrs. Slater held various offices in each of these organizations Thirty years of her life she spent moving from place to place as a military wife.
Funeral services for Mrs. Slater were held on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Nocona, TX with Rev. Keith Barbee officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Carolyn Spencer, Wichita Falls, TX and Patricia Ann Dixon, Highland Village, TX; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Peggy Jo (Sandlin) Gaston
Peggy Jo (Sandlin) Gaston, 72, of Saint Jo, TX passed away on June 15, 2002 at Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster, TX.
Mrs. Gaston was born on June 26, 1929 in Gainesville, TX to Jesse Johnathan and Era Mae Nichols Sandlin. Peggy met and later married Billy D. Gaston on October 26, 1949 in Gainesville. She was a homemaker, who devoted her life to her home and family and a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gaston were Tuesday, June 18, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Kerr officiating. Interment followed in Union Cemetery in Montague County, TX.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Tracy Davis, Saint Jo, TX and Tammy Morris of Pauls Valley, OK; one son, Mike Gaston of Rowlett, TX; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Boatman of Gainesville, TX; two brothers, Johnny Sandlin of San Jose, CA and Ricky Sandlin of Florida. Mrs. Gaston was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Doyce Gaston on Jan. 25, 2001; her parents; one son, Eric Dale Gaston; and one daughter, Pamela Gayle Gaston.
Pallbearers included: David Gaston, Doug Gaston, John Gaston, Mike Preuninger, David Hillard and W.J. Lofland.

Peggy (McGriff) Bednorz
Peggy (McGriff) Bednorz, 61, of Muenster, TX passed away on June 16, 2002 in Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton, TX.
Mrs. Bednorz was born on January 26, 1941 in Risen, AR to Abney Matthew and Mary John Lundsford McGriff. She married Norbert Bednorz on June 28, 1960 in Houston, TX. Mrs. Bednorz was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Saint Annes Society. She was a homemaker most of her life, but loved sewing and worked several years for a sewing factory.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bednorz were Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX, with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Norbert Bednorz of Muenster; one daughter, Rhonda Pagel of Riverside, CA; one son, Norbert Brian Bednorz of Watauga, TX; six grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ellen Peterson of Risen, AR; two brothers, Alton McGriff and O.G. McGriff, both of Risen, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Billy Ray McGriff and Eugene McGriff; and one sister, Evelyn McGriff.
Pallbearers included: Leonard Haverkamp, Randy Chappell, John Peters, George Richey, Jack Kidwell and Jim Kidwell.

Clara Lodene Williams
Clara Lodene Williams, 77, of Ringgold, TX passed away on June 18, 2002 at North Richland Hills Hospital.
Mrs. Williams was born on February 7, 1924 in Ringgold, TX to Lee and Jewel Beatrice Hudson Stout. She married Warner Wayne Williams on May 14, 1983 in Weatherford, TX. She was a hairdresser and a member of First Christian Church in Ringgold, TX. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Fort Worth, TX and a lifetime member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post #8558 in Nocona. Mrs. Williams was treasurer for First Christian Church of Ringgold, TX and Trustee #1 for Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8558, Nocona.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams were held on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eldon Johnson officiating. Interment was held in Ringgold Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: one son, David Strickland, Hurst, TX; one daughter, Jeanie Robertson, Fort Worth, TX; three sisters, Dottie Deloy, Nocona, TX, Sylvia West, Oklahoma City, OK, Ethel Duggan, Stamford, TX; one brother, Irby Stout, Wichita Falls, TX; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included: Tommy Stilwell, Eddie Read, Jake Ewing, Darrell Fuller, Gene Madison, and Larry Fenoglio. Honorary pallbearers included: Classmates of 1942, Sonny Fenoglio, Bunk Gilmore, Olin Merritt, Jerome O’Neal and Joe Staley.

Jack Wayne West
Jack Wayne West, 70, of Bowie, TX passed away on June 20, 2002 at URHCC in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. West was born on October 19, 1931 in Wichita Falls, TX. He married Margaret Davis in 1978 in East Cornith, MA. He was a painter in the construction business. Mr. West was an avid bowler, winning the Senior State Bowling Tournament and bowled in the National Bowling Tournament in Tulsa, OK. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 8789, serving as past quarter master and a lifetime member of DAV. Mr. West also served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. West were held on Monday, June 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. C. W. "Sandy" Sanderson officiating. Interment was held in Briar Creek Cemetery in Bowie, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Margaret West, Bowie, TX; three sons, Robert and Manford West, both of Bowie, TX and Audie West, Nocona, TX; two step-children, Michael Edington, Commerce, TX and Sharon Wroblewski, Wichita Falls, TX; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers included: Manford West, Levi West, Billy Wood, Kevin Durpee, Von Suagee, and Larry Kendall.

Charles D. Miller
Charles D. Miller, 71, of Bowie, TX passed away on June 21, 2002.
Mr. Miller was born on September 30, 1930 in Montague County, TX. He married Hazel Ruth Adams on March 26, 1947 in Bellevue, TX. He was a cowboy and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association for over 50 years. He was also a member and deacon of the Cowboy Church of Henrietta, TX.
Funeral services for Mr. Miller were held on Monday, June 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cowboy Church in Henrietta, TX with Rev. Buzz Timmons officiating. Interment was held in Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Ruth Miller, Bowie, TX; three sons, Larry Miller, Blue Grove, TX, Bobby Miller, Kearny, MO, and J. J. Miller, Bridgeport, TX; one daughter, Teresa Moody, Chico, TX; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters; and some honorary family members, Robert and Jan BanFleet, Chico, TX and Jerry and Lyn Chenault, Post Oak, TX. Mr. Miller was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Conely; one granddaughter, Missy Arrington and one brother, Sam Miller.
Pallbearers included: Darwin Adams, Tim Adams, Mike Adams, David Fincher, Steve Fincher, Richard Dunn, Kenny Stepp, and Jim Davis.
Honorary pallbearers included: David Hughes, Denise Gee, Denise Marketic, Bob Haney, Bill McCallip, Bob Davidson, David Wiese, Mike Fincher, Booger Walsh, Ed Givens, Dewayne Lane and Jamie Bowles.
