Jimmy Doyle Romine
Jimmy Doyle Romine, 55, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, passed away January 14, 2003 in Bowie.
He was born December 18, 1947 in Bowie. He was a dry wall contractor and a member of East Side Baptist Church of Bowie.
Services were Friday, January 17, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Interment followed in Montague Cemetery. Fry Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: one son, Shane Romine of Bowie, TX; two daughters, Tonya Mowery and Tammy Richardson, both of Bowie, TX; the mother of his children, Linda Romine of Bowie, TX; five grandchildren, Shayna Romine, Josh Mowery, Jered Mowery, Lana Richardson and Macey Richardson, all of Bowie; his father, Jack L. Romine of Bowie, TX; one sister, Linda Smith of Bowie, TX; one brother, Johnny Romine of Denton, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Romine in 1991 and one brother, Jacky Romine. in 1985.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Willett, Ricky Byas, Darell Curnette, Norman Ingram, Steve Milligan and Glen Chokas. Honorary pallbearers were J.J. Snider, Tony Gallia and Carl Reynolds.

James "Leonard" Walser
James "Leonard" Walser, 82, of Nocona, TX, passed away January 16, 2003 in Nocona General Hospital.
He was born March 7, 1920 in Montague, TX to James L. and Artie A. Sappington Walser. Mr. Walser was a bulk materials supervisor for Halliburton for 32 years. He was an Air Force veteran and served in WWII. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Nocona.
Survivors include: his wife, Fern Walser of Nocona, TX; two children, Belinda Hendrix of Nocona, TX and James Curtis Walser of Denison, TX; five sisters, Isle Skinner, Dovie Skinner, Peggy McBride, all of Nocona, Bonnie Weaver of Snyder, TX and Dixie Atkins of Ft. Worth, TX; three brothers, Red Walser and Joe Benton Walser, and Levi Walser, all of Nocona, TX; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Walser were Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Nocona with Rev. Lamoin Champ and Scott Moore officiating. Interment followed in the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Greg Hendrix, Pete Kramer, Heather Kramer, Tim Walser, Brad Walser, Brett Walser and Daniel Gomez.
Mr. Walser was preceded in death by two sons, Ernest Duane Walser and Richard Benton Walser and one brother, J.W. Walser.

Amos A "Dusty" Rhodes
Mr. Amos A. "Dusty" Rhodes, 71, a thirty year resident of Bowie, TX passed away on January 16, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 25, 1931 in Jacksboro, TX. He was a pumper in the oil field, and worked for several area drilling companies and dozer companies. He married Ileta Moss on November 12, 1971 in Jacksboro, TX. Mr. Rhodes was a member of the Missionary Baptist faith.
Services were conducted Monday, January 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. Joel Rumbaugh officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service. Interment followed in Prairie Branch Cemetery, Bowie, TX.
Pallbearers were Wylie Hopson, Jack Dow, Harold Haile, John Butler, Harry Shaw and Chris Davis.
Survivors include: his wife, Ileta Rhodes of Bowie, TX; one daughter, Mrs. Teresa Fant of Bluegrove, TX; four sons, Ronald Joe Rhodes of Omak, WA, Arnie Dean and Michael Wayne Rhodes, both of Bowie, TX and Brian Scott Rhodes of Alvord, TX; a special family friend, Stacy Swagger of Ft. Worth, TX; seven grandchildren, Steuart Fant, Kari Fant, James Rhodes, Maegan Rhodes, Anthony Rhodes, Ashten Rhodes and Isaiah Rhodes; his mother, Mrs. Eula Rhodes of Jacksboro, TX; one brother, Ben Rhodes of Gainesville, TX; four sisters, Ruthey Alcorn of Graham, TX, Julie Nunnely of Haltom City, TX, Blanche Wood of Weatherford, TX and Mary Maxey of Jacksboro, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Jean Jackson
Mary Jean Jackson, 54, a twenty-three year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on January 16, 2003 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 14, 1948 in Bowie and was a 1967 Bowie High School graduate. Ms. Jackson worked as a registered nurse in ICU at Ft. Worth’s Harris Hospital for over 20 years. She was a former resident of Joshua, TX. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of First Baptist Church of Bowie.
Services were on Saturday, January 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Interment followed in Brushy Cemetery. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Ray Angove, Curtis Garrett, Raymond Garrett, Fred Madden, Gene Park and Ray Walker.
Survivors include: one sister, Charlotte Miller of Townsend, TN; one brother, Charles H. Jackson of Choctaw, OK; two uncles, Horace J. Walker of Montague, TX and Raymond Lee Walker of Nocona, TX; three nieces, Caroline Guillot of Langley, VA, Dr. Le Jackson of Sacramento, CA and Captain Mary Ann Bowery of West Point, NY; one nephew, Thomas R. Miller, Jr. of Port Charlotte, FL; three great nieces and one great nephew; and one special family friend, Jean Angove of Bowie, TX.

Grace Robinson
Grace Robinson, 94, of Bowie, TX, passed away on January 17, 2003 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 22, 1908 in Haynie, AR. On December 20, 1945 she married H.A. "Andy" Robinson in Henrietta, TX. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Bowie. She worked at the Bowie Mill and Cannery for five years. She later worked as bookkeeper for Bowie I.S.D. and City of Bowie.
Graveside services for Mrs. Robinson were conducted Monday, January 20, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX with Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Survivors include: one daughter-in-law, Carole Narramore of Arlington, TX; seven grandchildren, Robert Baker, Pam Baker, Vicki Vanatta, Kim Hutchison, Missy Trubatisky, Sherran Fuller and Lou Ann Baker; seventeen greaat grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; and one niece, Jean Hyde.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990, two daughters, Norma Grace Baker in 1990 and Jackie Narramore in 1977 and one son, Alfred Narramore in 2002.

Roy Sylvester Davis
Roy Sylvester Davis, 73, of Gainesville, TX passed away on January 15, 2003.
Mr. Davis was born on November 12, 1929 in Montague County, TX to Lonnie Moses and Orpha Matilda Richardson Davis. He married Ruth Reed Davis on January 4, 1948. He was a retired truck driver and worked for Oak Frams Dairy for 22 years. Mr. Davis was a member of the Family Life Church of Gainesville.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held on Monday, January 20, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Scott-Morris Chapel with Debra Abi and Garry Davis officiatig. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Ruth Davis, Gainesville, TX; three children, Debra (Opal) Abi, Gainesville, TX, Betty Scharlene Hinshaw, Gainesville, TX, and Garry Curtis Davis, Bowie, TX; one sister, Beatrice Reed, Nocona, TX; one brother, Onis Davis, Nocona, TX; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Barbara Ann Szoly-Vogel-Hanson
Barbara Ann Szoly-Vogel-Hanson, 51, of Saint Jo, TX passed away on January 14, 2003 in Nocona General Hospital.
Mrs. Szoly-Vogel-Hanson was born on August 30, 1951 in Cleveland, OH to John Douglas and Hazel Wakeman Kickham. She maried Joe Hanson on August 30, 1986 in Corsicana, TX. She volunteered as a candy striper at Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland, OH and worked as a vacuum cleaner saleswoman where she met her first husband, the father of her two daughters. She was regional supervisor of Taco Bell for fifteen years in Oklahoma and then started her career with the United States Postal Service as a general clerk, where she met her second husband and lifemate, Joe Hanson.
A memorial service for Mrs. Szoly-Vogel-Hanson was held on Friday, January 17, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel in Saint Jo with Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Joe Hanson, Saint Jo, TX; four daughters, Victoria Ann Vogel-Reed, Gainesville, TX, Cynthia Ann Vogel-Voth, Muenster, TX, Josie Sue Hanson and Julie Ann Hanson, both of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren; parents, John Douglas Szoly and Hazel Kickham, Cleveland, OH; two sisters, Hazel Beck, CA, and Trenace Barrett, Cleveland, OH; and two brothers, Jeff and Chris Szoly, both of Cleveland, OH. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clint and Emma Nelkes and John and Elizabeth Szoly.

Ruby Nations
Ruby Nations, 85, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX passed away on January 14, 2003 in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mrs. Nations was born on February 9, 1917 in Bowie, TX. She married Mitchell Augusta Nations on July 28, 1935 at Duncan, OK. She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Bowie where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. In 1925, Mrs. Nations was saved and joined the Brushy Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for 35 years. Mrs. Nations was an avid seamstress and cook. After the death of Mr. Nations, her husband, Mrs. Nations provided child care for many children in Bowie for several years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Nations were held on Thursday, January 16, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Bishop and Rev. Bryan Mullins officiating. Interment was held in Brushy Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Ronnie Nations, Granbury, TX; four daughters, Armelda McClintock, Flora, IL, Linda Goodwin, Alvord, TX, Retta Blanton and Janice Stockard, both of Bowie, TX; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous cousins and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Nations in 1967; one son-in-law, Ralph Blanton in 1990 and one grandson, Mark Goodwin in 1990.
Pallbearers included: Richard Bishop, Don Bishop, Elmer DeFrates, Bert Harvill, Charles Knight, Steven McClintock, Jack Winn, Larry Ogle.

George Lee Plymale
George Lee Plymale, 77, a longtime resident of Brunswick, OH, passed away on January 19, 2003 at Denton Regional Hospital, Denton, TX.
Mr. Plymale was born May 20, 1925 in Talmadge, OH. He moved to Bowie six years go from Brunswick, OH. He was retired from General Motors after 30 years. Mr. Plymale served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII. He was a member of UAW Union #705 in Parma, OH and a member of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include: one son, Carl Plymale of Wellington, OH; three daughters, Virginia Plymale of Sunset, TX, Sharon Dock of Olmsted Falls, OH and Karen Barton of Medina, OH; eight grandchildren, Beth Ziesel, Matthew Cook, Adam Cook, Richard Cook, Ellen Gambrel, Jessica Stanley, Jared Barton and Julia Barton; four great grandchildren, Sadie, Corbin, Shane and Alec; his friend and companion, Jodi Thornson of Roanoke, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, George and Virginia Mccoy Plymale, his first wife, Mary Plymale in 1970, second wife, Lucille Plymale in 1985, two sisters, Mary Christina Plymale and Doris Plymale; and one brother, Theodore Plymale.
Services for Mr. Plymale were on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel, Bowie, with David Hall officiating. Interment was in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Brunswick, OH under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
