Carro Daviss Kelton
Carro Daviss Kelton, 97, of Dallas passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002 in Dallas.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with Dr. Jimmy Finley officiating.
Mrs. Kelton was born Aug. 9, 1904 in Fairfield. She lived 80 years in Corsicana and the last 12 in Dallas. Her husband of 40 years was Dr. Leslie Kelton, a physician in Corsicana for more than 50 years. Mrs. Kelton attended and graduated from Corsicana High School and Ward-Belmont College and attended Southern Methodist University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Leslie Kelton Jr.; and seven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Carrolyn Kelton Rice and Elizabeth Kelton Stafford, both of Dallas; and Claire Coble and husband Neely of Nashville, Tenn.; son, Leslie E. Kelton III and wife Cynthia of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Lula Hawkins
Lula Hawkins, 91, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002 in Corsicana.
Memorial services will 2 p.m. Saturday at North Beaton Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hawkins was born Nov. 24, 1910 on a farm near Mart to Jesse and Willie Montgomery Johnson. She married Thomas Hawkins in December 1939. She was a member of North Beaton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 1984.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean Caldcleugh of San Antonio and Linda Nixon of Houston; sister, Jessey Willis of Dallas; grandchildren, Lisa Cannon, Ashley Hawkins, Chandler Prude, Price Prude, Tequila Nixon and Austin Nixon; great-grandchildren, Joshua Appling, Kenley Hawkins and Aspen Hawkins; and great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Appling.
Memorials may be made to North Beaton Church of Christ Building Fund and Hospice of Cedar Lake.

Virginia Nell Nichols
Virginia Nell Nichols, 73, of Lovington, N.M. passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith-Rogers Chapel in Lovington with Dale Rhodes, Church of Christ Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Lovington Cemetery.
Mrs. Nichols was born Dec. 4, 1928 in Kerens. She married Neal W. Nichols Aug. 26, 1947 in Corsicana. She was a school teacher in Lovington for 28 years, retiring last year at the age of 73. She and her family moved to Lovington from Seminole, Texas in 1961.
She was preceded in death by husband Neal Nichols, her parents, son William Ken Nichols and five brothers.
Mrs. Nichols is survived by son Brad Nichols and wife Lee of Wichita, Kan.; daughter Patricia Cogsdil and husband James of Utah; brothers Percy Brown of Fort Worth and Wayne Brown of Tyler; sister Noble Kendrick of Ardmore, Okla.; and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Joe D. York
Joe D. York, 73, of Corsicana passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2002 in Corsicana.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Alexander officiating.
Mr. York was born Dec. 17, 1928 in Wellington to R.E. and Agnes Summy York. The family moved to Corsicana from Waco when he was 8 years old. He graduated from Corsicana High School in 1945.
He attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a B.B.A. degree. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force and attended officer candidate school at Lackland Air Force Base, graduating as a second lieutenant in December 1949. He spent 24 years in the U.S. Air Force both on active duty and as a reserve officer. He logged over 9,000 flying hours and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
Mr. York returned to Corsicana in 1960 where he followed his father into the family business, Joe York Furniture Company. He owned and operated the store until 1991 when he retired and closed the store.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Alan York in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Lewis York; son, Stephen Lewis York; granddaughter, Hilary York; grandson, Cameron York; brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Polly York; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mary Jackson Wright
Mary Jackson Wright, 96, of Malakoff passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 at West Place Health and Rehabilitation Center in Athens.
Services are pending. Interment will be at Steen Cemetery in Malakoff.
Mrs. Wright was born April 16, 1906 in Henderson County. She was a member of the Williams Street Church of Christ in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wright; daughter, Corina Dawson; son, Elbert Roland; and grandson, Elmer Williams.
Mrs. Wright is survived by granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Charlene and Joseph Johnson of Corsicana; grandson, Marlin Dawson Jr. of Malakoff; seven great-grandchildren, Joseph Johnson Jr. of West Des Moines, Iowa, Petrina Pipkins of Houson, Amanda Curry of Plano, Jennifer Johnson of Austin, Marciarie Johnson of Corsicana, Elmer Roberts of San Antonio, and Wilmer Roberts of Houston; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

David Crockett 'Dave' Woods IV
David Crockett "Dave" Woods IV, 64, of Big Sandy passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Croley Funeral Home in Gladewater.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Greg Traylor officiating. Interment will be at Gladewater Memorial Park.
Mr. Woods was born Aug. 2, 1938 in Ranger, Texas to David Crocket Woods III and Yvonne Witt Woods. He was a parts and sales associate at Twin State Trucks, Interenational Truck Dealership, in Longview, where his work led him throughout East Texas. He had been employed there for more than 10 years. He was a Mason and a member of the Gladewater Lodge and a member of the First Baptist Church of Big Sandy.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, David Paul Balliett.
Mr. Woods is survived by his wife, Lola Faye Woods of Big Sandy; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Cliff Roberts of Big Sandy; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandra Woods V of Corsicana; mother, Yvonne Sells of Palestine; sisters, Barbara Pettite of Palestine and Pam Windham of Montgomery; brother, Alvin Woods of Big Sandy; and granddaughter, Sarai Roberts of Big Sandy.

Ernie C. Brandenburg
Ernie C. Brandenburg, 80, of Kirvin passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 in Fairfield.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield with the Rev. Louis Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin.
Pallbearers will be Allen Allee, Art Cornett, Athen Allee, Adam Cornett, H.G. Hughes and Jerry Hogan.
Mrs. Brandenburg was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxilary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mrs. Brandenburg is survived by her husband, Arlyn L. Brandenburg of Kirvin; son, Joseph Gilbert Broussard of Forth Worth; and special friends, Barbara Jo Robinson and Jo Ann Scott, both of Kirvin; grandchildren, Amy Broussard and Joseph Doyle Broussard, both of Fort Worth; and great-grandchild, Brandi Porter of Fort Worth.

Earlene Price Body
Earlene Price Body, 65, of Corsicana passed away Wedensday, Dec. 4, 2002 at East Texas Medical Center, Tyler.
Visitation will be noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at M.R. Smith Parlor for Funerals in Corsicana.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Memorial Church of God in Christ with the Rev. Tommy G. Bowens as eulogist. Interment will be at Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Hall, Eugene McBride, Don Jones, James Bruton, Vernon Vanibuls and Michael Rush.
Mrs. Body was born Dec. 12, 1936 in Milford. She was a member of Taylor Memorial Church of God in Christ and a graduate of G.W. Jackson High School.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Price; father, Issue Price; mother, Willie Mae Price; and brother, Ervin Price.
Mrs. Body is survived by her husband, David Body of Corsicana; sons, Calvin Price and wife Laressa, Derwin Price and wife Debra, Lajuan and Robbie Nell, all of Corsicana; daughter, Veronica Jones and husband Freddie of Corsicana; brother, Bryon Price of Dallas; sister, Evelyn Garrett and husband James of Dallas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Gladys Mildred Harrison
Gladys Mildred Harrison, 97, of Corsicana passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2002.
There was a private family service. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana and other services will be held at a later date.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas P. Harrison.
Mrs. Harrison is survived by granddaughters, Carol Harrison Raths and husband Dean and Pamela Gail Harrison Lane and husband Robert; daughter-in-law, Ina Boyd Shireman and husband Ray; and great-grandchildren, Justin Raths, Nathan Lane, Katherine Raths, Rachel Lane and Sara Lane.
