Earnest 'Bo' Sharrer
Earnest "Bo" Sharrer, 83, of Kerens passed away Monday, June 9, 2003, at Kerens Care Center.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Paschal Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Paschal Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Scott officiating and the Rev. Wayne Mahoney assisting. Interment will follow at Prairie Point Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Scott Sharrer, Kevin Sharrer, Brian Sharrer, Carl Osborn, Jerry Van Winkle and Dennis Skow. Honorary pallbearers will be Bazette Baptist Church deacons, Thomas Hill and Don Pate.
Mr. Sharrer was born July 12, 1919, in Bazette. He served in Company C 424th Infantry of the Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; and daughter, Colleen Osborn.
Survivors include his sons, Ray Sharrer of Arkansas and Keith Sharrer of Overton; brother-in-law, J.C. Morton of Corpus Christi; 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Raymond Wendell Cook
A memorial service honoring the life of Dr. Raymond Wendell Cook will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2308 Bowie Drive, Corsicana. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may contribute to the Barracks Bunch Scholarship Fund, in care of Henry Ponder, 901 Royal Lane, Corsicana, TX 75110.

Hazel Odette Shornacy
Hazel Odette Shornacy of Corsicana passed way Tuesday, June 10, 2003 in Corsicana. Services are pending. Interment will be at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery. Arrangements by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana.

Gene Johnson Jr.
Gene Johnson Jr., 57, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with Dr. David Hale officiating.
Mr. Johnson was born July 30, 1946, in Dallas to Louis Eugene Johnson and Margaret Sides Johnson.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Paige and Randy Howard of Purdon; father, Louis Eugene Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and John Lewis of Corsicana; and nephew, Lance Lewis of Corsicana.

James H. 'Slick' Russell
James H. "Slick" Russell, 68, of Navarro Mills passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Services will be 3 p.m. today at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church with Jonathan Speegle officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Putman, Jay Russell, Joseph Shofner, Jonathon Shofner, Dennis Whitten, Doug Whitten, Larry Farish, Ryan Farish and Mike Russell.
Mr. Russell was born Feb. 27, 1935, in Hamilton to William Paul Russell and Sarah Langston Russell. He married Peggy Brister July 4, 1953.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Peggy Brister Russell of Navarro Mills; daughters and sons-in-law, Jamye and Jimmy Putman of Navarro Mills and Janith and Dale McManus of Garland; son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Teresa Russell of Buffalo; grandchildren, Amye Straw, Rusty Putman, Katie and Jay Russell, and Joseph and Jonathon Shofner; great-grandchildren, Brindon Straw and Jordan DeChaume; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Dot Russell of Blooming Grove; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Faye and Jack Leach of Duncanville and Jean and Don Whitten of Navarro Mills.
Arrangements by Griffin-Roughton Chapel, Blooming Grove.

Ventress Haney
Ventress Haney, 55, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Corsicana.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Second Mission Baptist Church in Corsicana with the Rev. H.D. Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana.
Pallbearers will be Eric Middleton, Spencer Bynes, Ben Jessie and Lawrence Greggs Jr.
Mrs. Haney was born Jan. 10, 1948, in Amarillo. She was a member and first lady of Soul Savers Church, where she served as secretary. She received her degree from Navarro College as a registered nurse in 1987 and worked at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anita Mary Brown.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. H.D. Haney of Corsicana; sons, Eric Middleton and wife Kimberly and Spencer Bynes and wife Stacy, all of Houston; daughters, Aretha Hymon and Evelyn Hymon, both of Portland, Ore.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, George Hymon of Amarillo; aunt, Ruby Cooksey of Corsicana; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Carl Edgar Stansberry
Carl Edgar Stansberry, 81, of El Campo passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003 in El Campo.
Visitation will be noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Barclay officiating. Interment will follow at Columbia Cemetery in West Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Reuben Castro, Darrin Stansberry, Lance Stansberry, Nathan Stansberry and Clarence Stansberry Jr.
Mr. Stansberry was born Nov. 10, 1921 in Bartlesville, Okla. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of El Campo. He was a life member of VFW Post 0251 and the American Legion Post, both in El Campo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ocie Everett and Bertha Elizabeth Stansberry; and a grandson, Sean Stansberry.
Mr. Stansberry is survived by his wife, Velma L. Stansberry of El Campo; son and daughter-in-law, James Edgar and Alice Faye Stansberry of Dawson; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Eugene and eva Lois Stansberry of West Columbia; sisters and brother-in-law, Bonnie Lee and Cecil Haskin and Georgia Lucille Campbell, all of Texas City; and grandchildren, Darrin Stansberry of Elgin, Lance Stansberry of Conroe, Wendy Williams of El Campo, Nathan Stansberry of Dawson, and Annette Woodruff and Susan Hammer, both of Granbury.

James Hershel Covington
James Hershel Covington, 65, of Grand Junction, Colo. passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Larchwood Inn due to complications following a stroke.
Visitation will be 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Martin Mortuary Chapel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Grand Junction. Interement will follow at Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Covington was born Nov. 2, 1937 in Jester, Texas, spending his childhood there before graduation Purdon High School. He married Sheryl R. Polley Nov. 29, 1969 in Rangely, Colo. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and visiting with friends. Mr. Covington was a resident of Grand Junction, Colo. for 13 years.
Mr. Covington is survived by his wife, Sheryl Covington of Grand Junction, Colo.; father, Tucker Covington of Corsicana; daughter, Michelle Davis and husband James of Corsicana; brothers, Johnny Covington and wife Janet and Billy Covington and wife Sandra, all of Corsicana; sister, Ima Reeder of Corsicana; grandson, Michael Graham of Corsicana; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Pallative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 60307, Grand Junction, Colo. 81506 or the Salvation Army, 1234 N. 4th St., Grand Junction, Colo. 81501.

Judyth Key, 62, of Hubbard passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Hillsboro. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Hubbard with the Rev. James Hooper officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calm Old Town Cemetery. Arrangements by Wade Funeral Home, Hubbard.
Mattie Clyde Smith, 91, formerly of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Houston. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield. Interment will follow at Shanks Cemetery in Kirvin. Arrangements by Capps Memorial Chapel, Fairfield.

Alma Thomas
Alma Thomas, 85, of Richland passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, in her residence.
Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Richland United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Schusler officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery.
John Bruce (Rocky) Thomas Jr., T. David Thomas, Tracey D. Thomas, A. Reese Brown, James K. Johnson, Pat Smith and Kyle Hern will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Arthur Patrick, Steve Schwarting, Botty Grantham and Tommy Hughes.
Mrs. Thomas was born on March 31, 1917, to A. Neal and Jimie Emmaline Swink Brown Jr. in Richland. After graduating from Corsicana High School, Miss Brown entered Baylor University, graduating in four years with a double major and a double minor. She taught English and History as well as coached the girls basketball team for many years. She met John Thomas on a "blind" date and they were a couple from that time on, ultimately eloping to be married on April 2, 1938...parted only by his death 16 months ago, and now they are together forever.
Survivors include daughter Jane Brown Thomas of Dallas, son and daughter-in-law J. Bruce and Shirley Thomas of San Antonio, grandson and wife John Bruce (Rocky) and Julie Thomas and great-granddauhters Marisa and Alex of Carey, N.C., grandson and wife T. David and Liz Thomas and great-granddaughters Tori and Taylor of Southlake, grandson Tracey D. Thomas of Houston, sister-in-law Wilma Schwarting of Waco and nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Thomas was a loyal and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Richland; thus, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Richland, Richland, TX 76681.
