Allen George
Allen George, 93, of Corsicana passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Quiet hour will be Monday.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sixth Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor K.D. Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Corsicana.
Pallbearers will be Lyle George, Luther Jackson, Stacy Young and Marvin Charles.
Mr. George was born Aug. 25, 1909 in Navarro County. He was retired from Henry Slate Grocery and Feed Store. He served faithfully on the Usher Board of Sixth Avenue Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susie George and parents, Allen and Louise George.
Mr. George is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Lilian George of Dallas; two grandchildren, Lyle George of Cedar Hill and Tamara Martin of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Tayler Martin and Tamara Martin, both of Dallas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Joe B. Harper
Joe B. Harper, 76, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital. Services are pending with Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana.

Wallace E. Watson
Wallace E. Watson, 67, of Corsicana, passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas. Services are pending with Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home, Corsicana.

Joe Manuel Gonzales
Joe Manuel Gonzales, 37, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 at a local nursing home. A 7 p.m. rosary will be held Sunday. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Cemetery with Father Robert Williams officiating. Arrangements by Corley Funeral Home.

Charles Johnston
Charles Johnston, 42, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Harmony Baptist Church, 411 E. 12th Ave., with Bishop John Baker officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Memorial Park.
Mr. Johnston was born June 2, 1960 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include his mother, Jessie Hill of Corsicana; sisters, Valeria Clay of Corsicana and Sandra Means of Huntsville; brothers, Kevin Johnston and wife Amy of Austin; Isaac Johnston and wife Vanessa of Kansas and Kenneth Johnston of Corsicana; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Carmenetta Lankford Slater
Carmenetta Lankford Slater, 88, of Dawson passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 in Hubbard.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Dawson Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Wallace officiating.
Mrs. Slater was born Sept. 22, 1914 in Corpus Christi. She was raised in Corpus Christi and moved to Delia after her marriage. She and her husband farmed and raised their family near Delia, and later Dawson. She was a longtime resident of Dawson and loved gardening and homemaking. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Slater in 1984; an infant son in 1938; and son, Charles Wayne Slater in 1999.
Survivors include her sons, James C. Slater of Dawson and John E. Slater of Holderville, Okla.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Lorena Vaughan Dawson
Lorena Vaughan Dawson, 82, of Navarro Mills passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2003 at her residence.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Dresden Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Moody officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery.
Mrs. Dawson was born June 25, 1920 in Winnsboro to James R. and Clara Mantooth Vaughan. She had been a resident of Navarro Mills for 31 years.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence R. Dawson of Navarro Mills; sons, Robert L. Dawson of Frost, Clarence B. Dawson and wife Ann of Brenham, and David R. Dawson Sr. and wife Diane of Mesquite; daughters, Christine Page and husband Shelton of Navarro Mills and Brenda Reed and husband Audie of Mineola; brother, James Vaughan of Paris; sister, Iva Guthrie of Rice; 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Wallace Stewart Harlee
Wallace Stewart Harlee, 81, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Harlee was born May 23, 1922 in Coleman to Wallace W. Harlee and Jewel Johnson Harlee. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Coleman. He was an accountant for Mobil Oil.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Mae Harlee of Corsicana; sons, Michael Stewart Harlee and wife Debbie Marlene of Dallas and James Edward Harlee of Corsicana; daughters, Lynn S. Thompson and husband Terry of Denton and Kathy Ann Harlee of Dallas; and grandchildren, Bonnie, Sara, Katie, David, Deborah, William, Andrew and Stacie.

Geraldine Dixon
Geraldine Dixon, 76, of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003 in Fairfield.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Bethany Cemetery in Spring Hill, Ark.
She was born Jan. 5, 1927 in Arkansas. She had been an apartment manager. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Rebecca Murray; husband, Cecil Dixon; daughter, Penny Jo Dixon; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Nell Dixon of Athens; sisters, Darlene Hogue of Overton and Melba Joan Spencer of New London; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Arrangements by Capps Memorial Chapel of Fairfield.

Betty Ann Speed
Betty Ann Speed, 45, of Abilene passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield with the pastor, Brother Mack Roller, officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Chapel Cemetery near Fairfield.
Pallbearers will be nephews Randy Stark, Robert Glen Speed II, Michael Speed, Matthew Stark, William Stark and Anthony Stark.
She was born Aug. 18, 1957 in Fairfield to William Robert and Bessie Speed. While in Abilene, she lived with and grew to love her foster mom, Beverly Westbrook, and foster sisters, Linda Johnson and Tina Benefield. All who knew and loved her will greatly miss her sweet spirit.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Robert Speed; and brother, Bobby Speed.
Survivors include her mother, Bessie Speed; sisters, Jeanette Stark and husband Wayne, Patsy Stark, Dixie Watson and husband Bill, Donna Kay Bishop and husband J.B., Carolyn Stark and husband Glenn, and Mary Stark and husband Kenneth; brothers, Robert Glen Speed and wife Cynthia, Jerry Speed and Johnny Speed; sister-in-law, Marsha Speed, all of Fairfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Reba Nell Owen
Reba Nell Owen, 60, of Mexia passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003 in Phoenix, Ariz.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Porter Funeral Home in Mexia.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Porter Chapel in Mexia with the Rev. Clifford Smalley and the Rev. Leroy Elmore officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Owen was born Aug. 8, 1942 in Searcy, Ark. She had been a tax consultant.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Lee Owen of Mexia; daughters, Lorina Cole and husband Raymond of Trinidad and Becky Alanis and husband Victor of San Antonio; sons, Ron Owen and Tim Owen and wife Amy, all of Arlington, and Tom Owen and wife Tracy of Richardson; mother, Reba Waite of Phoenix, Ariz.; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.
