Edwin P. Neves
1906-2003
w in Roby Cemetery directed by Weatherbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born May 27, 1906 in Beaver County, Okla., he was the son of the late Thorton Pool and Mena Olea (Doss) Neves. Mr. Neves lived in Fisher County and Big Spring. He married Katherine Melinda Terry Sept. 19, 1925 in Roby. He farmed and and raised roses. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Melinda Terry; his parents, two sons, Tommy Jack and Edwin Charles; three brothers; two sisters and one grandson, Royce Lynn Johnson.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Roy Neves of Snyder; Earl and Myra Neves of Houston; and Red Neves of Big Spring; four daughters and three sons-in-laws, Mary Olea Johnson of Amarillo; Clara Ann and Kelly Jennings of Tulia; Rosalie and Ray Harrison of Austin; and Bonnie and Bobby Powell of Ackerly; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Juanita Hanson
1926-2003
Juanita Hanson, longtime Snyder resident, died at 2 a.m. today in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mrs. Hanson, 76, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 17, 1926 in Boise, Idaho, she married Roy Malcolm Hanson on Dec. 16, 1944. He died March 19, 1999.
A resident of Snyder since 1950, Mrs. Hanson worked in the district attorney’s office five years and was secretary for the Scurry County Extension Service for 25 years, retiring March 31, 1984. She was a longtime member of the Dunn Baptist Church before becoming a member of Colonial Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hanson also was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGrath, and a sister, Barbara Jean McGrath.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandy Baker of Snyder; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy (Mackie) and Debra Hanson of San Antonio; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirlene and George McClellan of Peoria, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Geneva Ernest and Mary Evelyn Hanson; several nieces and nephews; and four grandchildren; Mandy Baker of Lubbock, April Baker of Dallas, Angela Hanson of San Antonio and Mark Hanson of Round Rock; and caregivers Virginia Flores and Rosa Hernandez.
Memorials may be made to Parkinson’s Disease, APDA West Texas Chapter, 3506 21st Street in Lubbock, 79410.

Evelyn Garrett
1921-2003
PAULS VALLEY, Okla. -- Evelyn Mathis Brooks Garrett, a former Snyder resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Oklahoma City.
Funeral service for Mrs. Garrett, 82, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Paul and Pine Church of Christ in Pauls Valley with John Curtis and Kent Risley officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
Born April 8, 1921 in Rocky, Okla., she graduated from Rocky High School in 1938 and earned her B.S. degree in vocational home economics from Oklahoma State University in 1969. She became the home economist for Garvin County, retiring in 1984.
She lived in Snyder from 1955 to 1961 and her husband, C. Dale Brooks, was minister of the 37th Street Church of Christ. Mr. Brooks died in 1980.
She was a member of Paul and Pine Church of Christ, National and Oklahoma Associations of Home Economists, the American Associated University Women and Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce.
She also was preceded in death by her second husband, C. Olan Garrett, in 1998; her parents, Claude and Inez Mathis; and a sister, Doris Cunningham.
Survivors include four sons, Lynn Brooks and Lanny Brooks, both of Edmond, Larry Brooks of North Richland Hills and Layne Brooks of Plano; a stepdaughter, Sandra Spruiell of Duncan, Okla.; a sister, Thelma Stoner of Edmond; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mildred Gladson
1921-2003
Mildred Rudene Gladson, former Snyder resident, died Friday, Aug. 29, in Prescott, Ariz.
Funeral service for Mrs. Gladson, 82, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Aug. 1, 1921 in Lubbock, Mrs. Gladson was a homemaker and a Southern Baptist.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherene Lamb of Prescott, Ariz., Phyllis Tidwell of Carrollton and Denise Phillips of Peoria, Ariz.; two sisters, LaNell Hogan and LaFon Berryhill, both of Wimberly; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Family Care Inc., 100 East Sheldon #100 in Prescott, Ariz., 86301.

Loyd Raschke
1937-2003
Loyd Edward Raschke, longtime communications technician, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a brief illness.
Rosary for Mr. Raschke, 65, is set for 6 p.m. Friday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral mass is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with interment to follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Oct. 20, 1937 in Lubbock County, he was reared in the Westbrook area and was a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Raschke moved to Snyder from Fort Stockton in 1968. He was a telephone service technician for Southwestern Bell and AT&T for 32 years and was a self-employed technician for the past 10 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Scifres of Snyder and Stacie Goswick and husband Raymond of Westbrook; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Diane Raschke of San Angelo; two sisters, Margo Grant of Snyder and Laura Notgrass of Stanton; four brothers, Alvin Raschke of Lake Buchanan, E.J. Raschke of Midland, Alton Raschke of Colorado City and Larry Raschke of Austin; and eight grandchildren, Jacob and Kegan Scifres of Snyder and Wesley and Miranda Goswick of Westbrook, Mercedes and Dylan Raschke of Hollywood, Fla., and Riley and Morgan Raschke of San Angelo.

Gerry Neithercutt
1920-2003
Geraldine “Gerry” Neithercutt, 82, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, in a Lubbock care facility after a long illness.
Graveside service for Mrs. Neithercutt is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in Hillside Memorial Gardens with Dr. Ted Spears, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Colorado City, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 24, 1920 in the Cuthbert community, she married Ray Neithercutt on July 15, 1952 in Clovis, N.M. He died July 4, 1984.
A Baptist, Mrs. Neithercutt had lived in Lubbock since 1984. She had been a secretary for Loffland Brothers Drilling and Key Drilling, and was the personal secretary for her husband for both of those companies. She had lived and worked in Alaska, Venezuela, Columbia, Kuwait, Zaire, Nigeria and Mozambique.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Arthur and Isla Ruth Autry Hardee; and by a brother, Morris Hardee.
Survivors include three sisters, Gradine Sterling of Snyder, Pat Galyen of Tulia and Jo Johnston of Edmond, Okla.; two brothers, Billy Bob Hardee of Colorado City and D.D. Hardee of Leland, Miss.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 this evening at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.

Lynn Randolph
1920-2003
ROBY -- Lynn M. Randolph, retired Roby postmaster, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, at his home in Roby.
Funeral service for Mr. Randolph, 82, is set for 10 a.m. Friday in the Roby Church of Christ with Richard Melton and Jimmy Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 5, 1920 in Bartlett, he was a 1939 graduate of Bartlett High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941-45.
He married Bernice Greer on May 18, 1943. He began his career with the U.S. Postal Service in Roby as a clerk, then as a rural mail carrier and retired as postmaster in 1980. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Randolph was preceded in death by a brother, T.M. (Mansel) Randolph; a twin brother, Donald Randolph; and a sister, Ida McFadin.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Randolph of Roby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Lisa Randolph of Snyder and Larry and Shirley Randolph of Jonesville, La.; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Larry Field of Roby; eight grandchildren, Kris Randolph, Ellisha Randolph, Dennis Smith, Noel Field, Nyle Field, Monica Mayfield, Levi Mayfield and Dillon Randolph; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Hendrick Hospice Center or to the Roby Cemetery Fund.
