Frances Austin
1917-2002
Funeral service for Frances Austin, longtime Snyder resident, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the East Side Church of Christ with Tom Holcomb, minister, and Edwin Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Snyder
Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Austin, 84, died Monday, Aug. 12, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital.
Born on Nov. 25, 1917 in Longworth, Texas, she married Garth Austin on June 5, 1982 in Snyder. She was a homemaker and a member of East Side Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Martin; a son, Max Martin in 1961; a daughter, Jeanette Martin in 1939; and six brothers and two sisters, including her twin sister, Mary.
Survivors include her husband, Garth Austin of Snyder; three stepdaughters, Ginger Reames of San Antonio, Becky Campbell of Hurst and Marissa Austin of Snyder; a stepson, Terrell Austin of Yoakum, Tex.; one sister, Lena Hinton of Modesta, Calif.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bill Mayo
1985-2002
LORAINE - Bill Austin Mayo, 17, died Sunday, Aug. 11, from injuries sustained in a one-car accident on an I-20 frontage road.
Funeral service is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Loraine First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Waddell and John Mayo officiating. Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Born March 21, 1985 in Snyder, he was a life-long resident of Mitchell County, was a senior at Colorado High School and a member of the First Baptist Church in Colorado City.
Survivors include his parents, Kelley and Nancy Mayo of Loraine; a brother, John Mayo of Temple; and four nephews.

Loyd O. Webb
1912-2002
Funeral service for Loyd Ottis Webb, 89, was set for 10 a.m. today in the Ira Baptist Church. Kevin Huddleston, a minister with the Johnson Street Church of Christ in San Angelo, was to officiate. Burial was to follow in the Ira Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Webb, a lifelong resident of Scurry County, died Friday, March 29, in Marcy House Retirement Center in Big Spring after a lengthy illness.
Born April 9, 1912 in the China Grove community, he married Ida Mae Lloyd on Sept. 22, 1934 in Snyder.
Mr. Webb worked for Amerada Hess Oil Co. for 14 years and then worked in the maintenance department for the Ira and Snyder schools for a number of years.
An avid sports booster, Mr. Webb was a member of the Ira Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Mae Webb of Snyder; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Terry Webb of Snyder; and two granddaughters, Whitney Webb of Midland and Britney Webb of Snyder.
A son and a brother preceded him in death.

Elizabeth Duncan
1925-2002
Funeral service for Emma Elizabeth Duncan is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the East Side Church of Christ. Tom Holcomb, minister, will officiate. Interment will be in the Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio and arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Duncan, 76, died Saturday, March 30, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Born Sept. 19, 1925 in Denton County, she was reared in Wink and married William Floyd Duncan on Oct. 12, 1942 in Carlsbad, N.M.
Mrs. Duncan had lived in Post from 1955 to 1979 and was chief deputy in the Garza County district and county clerk’s office for 19 years. She moved to Snyder in 1979 and was a member of the East Side Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, William Floyd Duncan of Snyder; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Ronald Simpson of Abilene; a son and daughter-in-law, Wendell and Lin Duncan of Live Oak, Tex.; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Friends are contributing to the Bear Valley Bible Institute, 2707 South Lamar in Denver, Colo., 80277.

Levi Greer
1918-2002
HASKELL – Levi Queston Greer, a former resident of Snyder, died Friday, March 29, in a Haskell nursing home.
A funeral service for Mr. Greer, 83, was set for 3 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Masonic graveside rites were to follow in the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Born Sept. 11, 1918 in Limestone County, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Greer was retired from Amoco Pipeline Co. and was a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tinka and D.W. Nelson of Coleman; a son, Joel Greer of Lubbock; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of the Big Country or to a favorite charity.

Eileen West
1925-2002
Emily Eileen West, a longtime resident of Scurry County, died Saturday, March 30, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. West, 76, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Roy Rosson, minister of the Dunn Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery.
Born Dec. 9, 1925 in Fisher County, she married Charlie West on Dec. 15, 1951 in Sweetwater. A resident of Scurry County for the past 48 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Dunn Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie West of Dunn; a daughter, Janet Botts of Hermleigh; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sophie West of Lubbock and Larry and Lori West of Hermleigh; two granddaughters, Amy Botts and Valerie West, both of Hermleigh.
Friends are contributing to the Dunn Cemetery Association in Dunn, 79516.

H.V. Greene
1904-2002
Homer Virgil (Jack) Greene of Lubbock, former longtime Snyder resident, died Friday, Feb. 8, in Hospitality House in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service for Mr. Greene, 97, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the Loraine Cemetery.
Born Dec. 24, 1904 in Fisher County, he married Ola Belle Brown on Dec. 9, 1947 in Sweetwater. She died Feb. 6, 1999. Mr. Greene had been a resident of Snyder since 1949 and attended First Baptist Church.
He also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Survivors include three nephews, Donald Greene of Dallas, Van Greene of Lubbock and Shelby Howell of Plainview; and three nieces, Ophelia Carter of Monahans, Marjorie Coffman of Lamesa and Joy Minnix of Lubbock.

Opal Davidson
1922-2004
Opal Alene Davidson, a former resident of Scurry County, died Tuesday, March 30, in Hobbs Healthcare Center in Hobbs, N.M.
Funeral service for Mrs. Davidson, 81, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Faith Baptist Church in Snyder with the Rev. Larry White, pastor, and the Rev. LaVoid Ford, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Hobbs, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
She was born Nov. 2, 1922 in Hermleigh and was married to James Davidson who died in November, 1999.

John Trussell
1910-2004
Graveside service for John Henry Trussell of Bangs, formerly of Scurry County, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Snyder Cemetery with the Rev. Ponny Caldwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.
Mr. Trussell, 93, died Tuesday, March 30, in Bangs.
He was born Aug. 28, 1910 on the J. Wright Mooar Ranch in Scurry County. He was in the Army infantry during World War II serving in the European Theatre and the Battle of the Bulge. He was employed with the RS&P Railroad before moving to Slaton in 1962 where he worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in the track maintenance department, retiring as a section foreman.
Mr. Trussell married Lora I. Wood on Jan. 1, 1936 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 24, 1979. He also was preceded in death by a son, Morris Wood Trussell; a sister, Pauline Scrivner; and a brother, Ambrose Trussell.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Travis and Libby Trussell of Bushland and Tommy Trussell of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Kelly Schaffer and Calvin Schaffer, both of Groom; and three nieces, Shirley Miller, Kathy Hall and Elois Pruitt, all of Snyder.

Gene Foster
1933-2004
CONRAD, Mont. -- Gene T. Foster, the mother of Jan Hayley of Snyder, died Friday, March 5.
A memorial service for Mrs. Foster, 70, was held Monday in the Praise Tabernacle in Conrad. The Rev. Harold Jackson officiated.
Born June 3, 1933 in Sweetwater, she married Lee Sears in 1946 in Sweetwater and James Foster in 1952 in Sweetwater. Both preceded her in death as did her parents, Robert and Jewel Gilbreth; a brother, Denver Gilbreth; and a sister, Madge Jones.
Mrs. Foster was employed by Village Supermarket in Sweetwater for 13 years. She moved to Conrad in 1987 and was employed by Andy and Marian Kovatch and by Town Pump. She retired in 1998.
Survivors include three other daughters, Susie Gartman of Big Spring, Donna Larson of Fairfield, Mont. and Channin Vandiver of Conrad; two brothers, Floyd Gilbreth of Phoenix and Lewis Gilbreth of Odessa; a sister, Judie Sapp of Sand Springs, Okla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
