Charles Ranne
1921-2003
COLORADO CITY -- Charles Edward Ranne, the brother-in-law of Walter Rabb of Snyder, died Sunday, June 29, in the Mitchell County Hospital.
Funeral service for Mr. Ranne, 81, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Westbrook First Baptist Church. Burial was to follow in the Westbrook Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Nov. 30, 1921 in Killeen, he married to Frances Rabb on Sept. 4, 1943 in Fort Worth.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Ranne retired from Chevron Oil Co. in 1982 after 35 years as a district mechanic.
He was a deacon of the Westbrook First Baptist Church for 43 years and had served on the city council and as mayor of Westbrook.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Ranne; two daughters, Judy Feaster of Lufkin and Linda Golden of Northport, Ala.; a son, Charles Edward Ranne Jr. of Flower Mound; nine grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
David Hall
1960-2003
LUBBOCK -- Graveside service for David Hall of Lubbock is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Hermleigh Cemetery.
Funeral service for Mr. Hall, 42, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Vandelia Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Born Oct. 20, 1960 in Amarillo, his family moved to Lubbock in 1965 and he graduated from Lubbock High School in 1979.
Mr. Hall worked with Hall Foundries until he became ill with Multiple Sclerosis, becoming disabled in his early 20s.
He was a member of the Lubbock Trail Riders Motorcycle Club and the Sunset Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Hall, on Feb. 15, 2003. He was buried in Hermleigh.
Survivors include his mother, Dorothy McLain of Lubbock; his stepmother, Judy Nachlinger Hall of Lubbock and formerly of Hermleigh; four brothers, Stephen Hall of Hawaii, Peter Hall of Norman, Okla., and Mark Hall and Joseph Hall of Lubbock; a sister, Marianna Taylor of Lubbock; and his grandmother, Vivian Hall of Lubbock.
Rex Fields
1917-2003
Memorial service for Rex Fields, longtime Snyder resident and businessman, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Buddy Payne, minister of First United Methodist Church, and Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Mr. Fields’ body was donated to the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
Mr. Fields, 85, died Monday, June 30, in Lubbock.
Born Nov. 21, 1917 in Snyder, he attended Camp Springs schools and graduated from Hobbs High School. He served in the Naval Air Corp from 1941-1945.
Mr. Fields served on the Snyder City Council from 1958-62 and on the board of the Colorado River Municipal Water District board for 21 years. He was serving as vice president when he left the board.
Mr. Fields owned a Phillips 66 service station in Snyder for 20 years and later purchased Central Tire and Supply that he operated for several years before retirement. He was a Mason and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Fields of Lubbock; one brother, Dan Fields of Lubbock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Frank Hawkins
1926-2003
Frank Howard Hawkins, 76, died Tuesday, July 1, in Snyder Oaks Care Center.
Graveside service for Mr. Hawkins was set for 2 p.m. today in the Snyder Cemetery. The Rev. Caiphias Cain will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 3, 1926 in Waskom, Tex., he was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Hawkins moved to Snyder in 2000 from Rotan where he was a farm worker.
Survivors include four nieces, Anita Peavy of Snyder, Veronica Barnes of Duncanville, Retha Anthony of Grand Prairie and Debra Lawrence of Midland; a nephew, Norman Davis of Austin; and numerous cousins.
Wendell Autry
1933-2003
AMARILLO -- Wendell Autry, a native of Scurry County, died Wednesday, July 2, in Amarillo after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Autry, 69, is set for 9 a.m. Saturday in the Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain officiating.
Graveside service is set for 3 p.m. Saturday in Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder with the Rev. Miller Robinson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 24, 1933 in Snyder, he was a 1951 graduate of Snyder High School and attended Arlington State College from 1951-53.
He married Rheta Rhodes on Dec. 27, 1952 in Snyder and the family moved to Amarillo where Mr. Autry began working for Kerr-McGee as a senior drilling foreman. He worked in the oilfields for more than 25 years.
An avid golfer, Mr. Autry opened Autry’s Tee Box in Amarillo and was a member of the Paramount Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Annie Autry; a sister, LaRue Williamson; and two brothers, G.L. and Leon Autry.
Survivors include his wife, Rheta Autry of Amarillo; a daughter, Sharron Autry of Amarillo; a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and DeeDee Autry of Lelia Lake; two grandchildren, Tarrant Autry who is stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Japan, and Caitlin Autry of Amarillo.
The family suggests memorials to the Paramount Baptist Church scholarship fund, 3801 South Western in Amarillo, 79109.
Floyd Fletcher
1925-2003
PLAINVILLE, Kan. -- Floyd, M. Fletcher, father of Morris Jay Fletcher of Snyder, died Sunday, July 6, in the Hays Medical Center in Hays.
Service for Mr. Fletcher, 77, is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Plainville Church of the Nazarene in Plainville. Burial will be in the Plainville Cemetery.
Born on Sept. 16, 1925 in Virgil, Kan., he married Maxine Simms in Plainville. Mr. Fletcher was a graduate of Plainville High School and worked as a pumper for Lario Oil & Gas Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1987.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Tatman Fletcher; a twin brother, Lloyd, and another brother, Feryl Fletcher; and two sisters, Audrey Morrow and Helen Agard.
Survivors also include his wife, Maxine Simms of Plainville; two daughters, Norma Lynn Lambeth of Salina, Kan., and Kay Ann Ray of Bethlehem, Ga.; three sisters, Mardell Young of Los Angeles, Calif., Faye Brinker of Long Beach, Calif., and Madeline Moran of Plainville, Kan.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Dee Maldonado
1941-2003
Delia “Dee” Maldonado, a resident of Snyder since 1980, died Sunday, July 6, in North Richland Hills Hospital.
Prayer service for Mrs. Maldonado, 61, is set for 7 this evening in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with Henry Rodriguez of Lancaster and Jessie Trevino of Grand Prairie officiating.
Born Sept. 17, 1941 in Mission, she married Roy Maldonado on Jan. 18, 1958 in Lovington, N.M.
Mrs. Maldonado moved to Snyder from Hobbs, N.M., in 1980. She operated Dee’s Burritos from 1992 until her retirement in 2002 when she moved to Fort Worth.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lisa Sandoval; a brother, Oscar Dennett; and a grandson, Cesar Fabela.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Maldonado of Belen, N.M.; four daughters, Eva Lopez of Saginaw, Emma Fabela of Odessa, Glenda Pesina of Belen and Leslie Jones of Keller; two sons, Roy Maldonado Jr. of Hobbs, N.M., and Isaac Maldonado of Fort Worth; three brothers, David Dennett and Robert Dennett of Benbrook and Daniel Dennett of Fort Stockton; two sisters, Mary Alice Macias of Lake Worth and Noe Dennett of Lovington; 11 grandchildren, Jessie Fabela, Joshua Maldonado, Dennis “DJ” Garcia, Myra Fabela, Amos De Los Santos, Greg Pesina, Tyson Maldonado, Tyrell Maldonado, Terran Maldonado and Shawnia Sisneros; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Garcia and Damian Garcia.
Maria Jaramillo
1937-2003
SWEETWATER -- Maria DeJesus Jaramillo, the mother of Juan Jaramillo of Snyder, died Sunday, July 6, in Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Rosary for Mrs. Jaramillo, 66, is set for 7 this evening in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Rodriguez will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery.
She was born on June 24, 1937 in Mexico and married Jose Hernandez Jaramillo on Dec. 16, 1954 in Mexico.
Survivors include her husband, Jose Jaramillo of Sweetwater; four other sons, Manuel Jaramillo, Carlos Jaramillo and Armando Jaramillo, all of Sweetwater, and Jose Jaramillo of Irving; eight daughters, Monica Jaramillo and Irma Escobar, both of Mexico, Bertha Gonzales, Rufina Avila, Paula Jaramillo and Leticia Jaramillo, all of Sweetwater, Maria Gomez of Granbury and Juanita Lopez of Longview; 36 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Manuel Jaramillo Jr., Joe Jaramillo, Alex Jaramillo, Jesus Escobar, Johnny Gonzales and Edward Jaramillo.
Bill Roberts
1916-2003
STEPHENVILLE -- J.W. (Bill) Roberts, a former Snyder resident, died Friday, July 4, in the Baptist Memorial Center in San Angelo.
A graveside service for Mr. Roberts, 87, was held Monday in the Garden of Memory Cemetery.
Born Jan. 31, 1916 in Wilson County, he married Merle Winslett on March 20, 1936 in Coleman. She preceded him in death on March 8, 1990. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brandi Roberts.
Mr. Roberts had lived several years in Erath County before moving to San Angelo in 1995. A Baptist, Mr. Roberts was a retired field gauger for Chevron Oil Co.
Survivors include two sons, Tim Roberts of Sonora and Blake Roberts of San Angelo; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
