Funeral services for Era Mitchell, 92, of Andrews were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with the Rev. Ivy Shelton, pastor of Second Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial was in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Mrs. Mitchell died Saturday, June 21, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 15, 1910, in Quitman. She married Homer Mitchell on February 18, 1928, in Bell County. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 19, 1988; a son, Ocie Mitchell in 1988; and a daughter, Lois McWilliams in 2002.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Tally of Muskogee, Okla., and Betty Carruth of Denver City; a son, Mike Mitchell of Parker, Colo.; four sisters, Estelle Beard and Lucille Pryor of Andrews, Winnie Langford of Lubbock, and Edith Carruth of Marble Falls; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Jay Clevenger

Funeral services for Jay Clevenger, 52, of Andrews were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Mike Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Snyder, and the Rev. Bill Melton, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial was in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
He died Sunday, June 22, in Andrews.
He was born February 23, 1951, in Artesia, N.M. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1970. He has been a liftetime resident of Andrews. He worked for Clyde's Refrigeration since 1972 and owned it since 2001. He had been involved in the Andrews Boy Scouts and Promise Keepers. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Clevenger, on November 14, 1999.
He is survived by a son, Johnny Clevenger of Andrews; a daughter, Jennifer Leatherwood and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his mother: Jada Clevenger of Andrews; a brother, Charles Clevenger of Andrews; a sister: Janice Matthews of Andrews; and two grandchildren: Autumn and Avery Leatherwood of Oklahoma City.
Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, 901 NE 4th Place, Andrews, TX 79714.

Hector Manuel Jimenez

Rosary services for Hector Manuel Jimenez, 48, of Andrews were held at 7 p.m. CST Thursday, June 26, 2003, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews, Texas.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. MST Friday, June 27, 2003, at St. Helena Catholic Church in Hobbs, N.M., with the Rev. Manuel Ibarra, officiating.
Pallbearers will be Alfred Jimenez, Max Perez, Joe Gonzales, Rudy Ceniseros, Augustine Orona, and Jesus Sepulveda.
Burial will be in Prairie Haven Memorial Park in Hobbs, N.M.
He died Tuesday, June 24, 2003, at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
He was born April 1, 1955, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He married Dolores Castillo on August 13, 1990, in Seminole, Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1991 from Hobbs. He owned and operated HMJ Oilfield Services in Andrews. He was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews.
He was fun, loving, and a caring husband, father, grandpa, and father in law, who will be greatly missed. He will be in our heart and souls forever.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores Jimenez of Andrews; a son, Eric Salazar of Lubbock; three daughters: Christine Carrasco of Slaton, Lisa Ann Castaneda of Odessa, and Laurie Martinez of Andrews; his mother, Lucia Villalobos of Hobbs; two brothers, Jose Luis Jimenez of Andrews and Mario Gonzalez of Gilbert, Ariz.; three sisters, Virginia De Hoyos of Puebla, Mexico, Graciela Lopez and Maria Scott of Hobbs; and five grandchildren: Marcus Jimenez, Damian Martinez, Nicholas, Samuel, and Angele Castaneda.
Services were under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.

William 'Bill' Cole

Graveside services for William H. “Bill” Cole, 89, of Andrews were held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 27, in Gaines County Memorial Cemetery North in Seminole Mark Wilson officiating. Services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mr. Cole died Wednesday, June 25, in Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
He was born May 23, 1914, in Roff, Okla. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister.
Survivors include three sisters, Maudie Thornton and Redah Price of Andrews, and Naomi Warren of Lubbock; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Tucker

Services for Mary Tucker, 87, of Andrews were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, and the Rev. Bill Melton, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tucker died Saturday, July 19, at her residence. She was born February 18, 1916, in Fredrick, Okla. She married Eldon "Howard" Tucker on April 11, 1936, in Hobart, Okla. They moved to Andrews in 1961 from Snyder. She had worked as a nurse’s aid and had served as a Pink Lady for the hospital auxiliary. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Howard, of Andrews; two sons, Gerry Tucker Sr. of Andrews, and Lee Van Tucker of Andrews; a daughter: Micheal Ann Hall of Streetman; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Howard Tucker, 88 of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 10, in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Melton, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker died Thursday, August 7, in Andrews.
He was born on March 2, 1915, in Nocona, Texas. He married Mary Frances Polk on April 11, 1936, in Hobart, Oklahoma. They moved to Andrews in 1961 from Snyder. He owned the Tucker Construction Company, and had owned Andrews Gas Company from 1977 to 1987. Andrews Gas Company supplied the City of Andrews with natural gas. He was active with many other oil related businesses. He was very active with the Andrews Senior Citizens Foundation and was president of the Andrews Senior Center for 10 years. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
His wife, Mary Frances Tucker, preceded him in death on July 19, 2003.
Survivors include two sons, Gerry Tucker, of Andrews and Lee Van Tucker of Andrews; a daughter, Micheal Ann Hall, of Streetman; two brothers, Bill Tucker of Wichita Falls and Coy Tucker of Seagraves; a sister, Freda Edwards of Tipton, Okla.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Mike Puckett

Mike Puckett, 46, of Midland died Saturday, April 19, in a Midland hospital.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in Crestview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. John Gerlach officiating. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Midland.
Mr. Puckett was born in Kermit and moved to Midland in 1989. He was a Baptist, a 1976 graduate of Andrews High School and a 1981 graduate of San Angelo State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. He worked for Baker Petrolite for the past seven years, moving to Midland in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Lindy Puckett of Midland; a son, Chase Puckett of Midland; a daughter, Taryn Puckett of Midland; a stepson, Justin Bailey of Phoenix, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Karli Bailey of Midland; his parents, Milton Puckett and Barbara Puckett, both of Andrews; a sister, Cindy Taylor of Midland; and a grandmother, Lotta Mae Long of Denver City.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2304 W. Wadley, Midland, TX 79705.

Stephen E. Farmer, Jr.

Funeral services for Stephen E. Farmer, Jr., 70, of Odessa are set for 2 p.m. Monday at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Dr. H.A. Hanks of Andrews officiating.
Burial will be in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Farmer died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at his residence in Odessa. He was born Jan. 2, 1933 in San Angelo.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Odessa in 1979 from Andrews. He worked in the sanitation department for the City of Odessa for 12 years.
He was a supporter of Prime Time Christian Broadcasting and he was a Baptist.
He was prceded in death by his parents, Stephen E. Farmer, Sr. and Blanch Hayes Farmer.
Survivors include his stepmother, Treva Farmer of Andrews; two cousins, Vicki Towery of Albuquerque, N.M. and Billie Lou Robinson of Snyder.

Les Gross

Services for Leslie E. Gross Sr., 75, of Andrews were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 5, in Calvary Baptist Church with James Beard of Andrews officiating. Burial was in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Gross died Saturday, August 2, in his residence.
He was born on May 16, 1928, in Holiday. He moved to Andrews in 1944. He was married to Jewell Jo Van Winkle on November 5, 1949, in Andrews. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1994. He was married to Bobbie Dallas on September 14, 1995, in Andrews. He was co-owner of Superior Construction in Andrews, an oil field construction company.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of Andrews; two sons, Leslie E. Gross Jr. of Andrews and Alton Ray Gross of Andrews; a daughter, Joyce Ann Parnell of Andrews; a step-daughter, Connie Neatherlin of Milam; a step-son, Ronald Caraway of Puerto Rico; three brothers, J.B. Gross of Andrews, Wesley Gross of Andrews and Lonnie Gross of Andrews; a sister, Evelyn Bonham of Kermit; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Payne

Graveside services for Marjorie "Marge" Payne, 78, of Wichita Falls were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 9, in the Andrews West Cemetery in Andrews with the Rev. Terri H. Perkins, pastor of Grant Street United Methodist Church in Wichita Falls, officiating.
Mrs. Payne died Thursday, August 7, in the W. Erle and Emma White Hospice Center in Wichita Falls.
She was born November 10, 1924, in Hardtner, Kan. She was married to Robert M. Payne on October 4, 1941, in Eldorado, Kan. They moved to Andrews in 1967, and then to Wichita Falls in 1999. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edwin, Oma, and Alonzo King.
Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Payne of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Janet Lasseter of Wichita Falls; a son, Robert E. Payne of Midland; a sister, Verna Dutton of Mulvane, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Wichita Falls, P.O. .Box 4804, Wichita Falls, TX 76308.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
