Forest Rice
Sunday, May 16, 2004
Funeral service for Forest Lynn Rice, 79, of Weatherford, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Annetta Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2004, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Rice left this life on earth Thursday, May 13, 2004. He was born Aug. 4, 1924, in Big Spring to A.J. and Bettie Digby Rice, the youngest of four children. He attended schools in Levelland and entered the U.S. Army in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II.
On March 18, 1951, he married Janice Coonrod of Lohn. Two children were born, Janalyn and Robert Randall.
Mr. Rice was a member of the Andrews Masonic Lodge, and a charter member of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. He worked in the clothing business in Brownfield, Andrews and Kermit. In 1971 he began working in Odessa for Allstate Insurance, from which he retired in 1987 at the age of 62.
His parents, two sisters, Aliene Stroud and Rosie Johnson, and one brother, Jack Rice, preceded him in death.
His wife, Janice, of Weatherford; their daughter, Janalyn Patterson and husband Charles of Weatherford; a son, Robert Rice of Tokyo, Japan; and three grandsons, Cody Patterson of Austin, Ross Patterson of Denton and Trent Patterson of Weatherford, survive him.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
A generous, loving and devoted family man, he enjoyed playing golf and working in his yard, as well as visiting with his grandchildren and family. He will be greatly missed.

J.W. 'Bud' Arnold

Funeral services for J.W. “Bud” Arnold, 76, of Andrews were at 2 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Burial followed in the Andrews West Cemetery.
He died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1928, in Silver to James Walter Arnold Sr. and Pallie Allison Arnold. He moved to Andrews in 1953 from Silver. He married Tommie Jean McReynolds on June 9, 1966, in Andrews. He had worked as a foreman for the County of Andrews, Precinct 1, and had owned and operated Bud’s Services for 18 years. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and six sisters.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Terry Arnold of Midland, Dusty Burney of Snyder and Larry Walls of Farmington, N.M.; one daughter, Jessie Moore of Greenville; one sister, Alta Jean Hendrickson of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Craig Weschke
Friday, June 11, 2004
Services for Craig Weschke, 44, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2004, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be minister John Snider of Greenwood Church of Christ and Mark Wilson, pulpit minister of Andrews Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
He died Monday, June 7, 2004, in the Hospice Midland Inpatient Unit at Midland Memorial Hospital.
He was born on July 24, 1959, in Andrews. He worked as a hairdresser for The Beauty Parlor for 12 years and was owner for 6 ˝ years. His health forced his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Survivors include his father, Bill Weschke, and his brother, Ralph Weschke, both of Andrews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Weschke, in 1997.

Margarita 'Maggie' Mireles
Thursday, June 24, 2004
Rosary services for Margarita “Maggie” Mireles, 67, of Andrews will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2004, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with the Rev. Thomas C. Kelley of Our Lady of San Juan Catholic Church in Midland officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery.
She died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1937, in San Antonio. She moved to Andrews in 1956 and then to Midland in 1974. She was a housekeeper. She had been a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews and was a member of Our Lady Of San Juan Catholic Church in Midland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julio Martinez and Concepcion Cantu Martinez; and two brothers.
She is survived by her three sons, Frank Mireles Jr., of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas Mireles of Midland and Jimmy Mireles of Andrews; three sisters, Ophie Martinez and Rosalinda Rodriquez of Wichita, Kan., and Elena Rodriquez of San Antonio; two brothers, Ray Martinez of Wichita, Kan. and Raymond Martinez of Greeley, Colo.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Marie Comeaux

Graveside services for Marie Comeaux, 82, of Andrews were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
She was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Carson, Okla. She moved to Andrews in 1965 from Odessa. She married Dolan Thatcher, and he preceded her in death in 1981. She married Wallace Comeaux, and he preceded her in death in 1993. She had owned and operated ABC Daycare in Andrews for 30 years. She was a member of the Andrews Church Of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar William Bean and Oma Norris Bean; a daughter, Dana Ann Thatcher, in 1952; a son, Wayne Thatcher Sr., in 1993; two sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her son, Tommy Thatcher, of Andrews; her daughter, Shirley Lewis, of Palestine; a brother, Bill Bean, of Farmington, N.M.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren.

Pat Long

Funeral services for Pat Long, 72, of Andrews will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, 2004, at the Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson, pulpit minister, and Brian Gordon, M.D., of Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Mrs. Long died Thursday, July 15, 2004, at her residence in Andrews.
She was born April 1, 1932, in Bristow, Okla., to James Mann and Julia Hayes Mann. She married L.W. “Chief” Long on Dec. 16, 1950, in Sapulpa, Okla. They moved to Andrews in 1952 from San Angelo. She retired from First National Bank of Andrews after 20 years. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robby Long in 2002; six sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband of Andrews; one son, Roddy Long of Andrews; three sisters, Barbara Reeves of Frankston, Louise Freeman of Sapulpa, Okla., and Glenna Rainwater of Aztec, N.M.; one brother, Kenneth Mann of Bristow, Okla.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the Andrews Church of Christ, c/o Children’s Home Fund, P.O. Box 1577, Andrews, Texas 79714.

Don Leach
Saturday, February 21, 2004
Funeral services for Don Leach, 76, of Andrews were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Means Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Doyle, pastor, and Rev. Earl Blair of Canyon officiating.
Burial followed at Andrews North Cemetery. All services were entrusted to McNett Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, February 14, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital. Born July 19, 1927 in Wellington, Texas, he married LaJuana Earnest September 3, 1948 in Amarillo.
Leach attended West Texas State University, where he was the last three-sport letterman. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree there, where he played football, basketball and ran track on scholarship.
He taught in McLean, Ralls and Rankin before moving to Andrews in 1965 where he was a coach and teacher for 22 years until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of Means Memorial United Methodist Church.
During his coaching years in Andrews he coached his two sons, who followed in their father’s footsteps. They both played sports in college on scholarships and coached in public schools after graduation before becoming school administrators.
After retirement Leach owned and operated Andrews Pest Control. He served on the Board of Pensions for the Northwest Texas Conference of Methodist Churches, several committees in his local church, was a lifetime member of the Texas High School Association, past president of the Lions Club and Andrews Retired Teachers and was a board member of Samaritan Counseling Center of West Texas.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, LaJuana, of Andrews; two sons, Ron and wife, Vicki, of Odessa and Jim and wife Ann of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Jon, Rick, Kelli, Greg, Kayla, Janey and Brett Leach; and a twin sister, Sue Cristy of Lubbock.
His parents and five brothers preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Means Memorial United Methodist Church.

David C. Dunn

Funeral services for David C. (Dave) Dunn, 77, of Andrews were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Trey Johnson of Edwards, Colo., officiating. Burial followed in Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Mr. Dunn passed away Sunday May 16, 2004, at Home Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Grady, Okla. He married June Howard on Dec. 21, 1947, in Brownfield. They moved to Andrews in 1969 from Odessa.
He was a rancher and farmer. He was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and he helped organize and served as president of the Texas - New Mexico Cutting Horse Association. He was vice president of the Texas High School Rodeo Association from 1976 to 1986 and worked with the Andrews 4-H and stock show sale for 15 years.
He was a member of Northcrest Baptist Church in Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife of Andrews; four sons, David Lee Allen Dunn of Odessa, Johnny Blaine Dunn and Tony Scott Dunn, both of McKinney, and Billy Brian Dunn of Big Lake; two daughters, Shirley Jo Dunn Johnson of Andrews and Martha Irene Dunn Floyd of Graham; two brothers, Harold Dunn of Oklahoma and Steve Dunn of Oregon; two sisters, Margaret Garrett of California and Verna Faye Bauscher of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
