Mr. Hodges
Funeral services will be May 25, 2004, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Lampasas for James Harvey "Blackie" Hodges, who died May 23 at Heart Hospital of Austin. He was 77.
Dr. Rick Willis will officiate the services, with burial to follow in Groves Cemetery.
Mr. Hodges was born in Lampasas County on April 21, 1927, to Alvie Hodges and the former Hannah Ethel Groves Hodges. He attended school at Clay Rock for his first few years of education, then completed his schooling in Lampasas.
He joined the Army near the end of World War II, and upon his discharge, he began his career as a full-service gas station owner. He worked in this endeavor for more than 30 years.
He married Gwen Clark on Oct. 28, 1947, in Goldthwaite.
Mr. Hodges was a deacon at First Baptist Church, where he had taught Sunday school for many years. He also was a member of Saratoga Lodge A.F.& A.M. #546 and Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 295.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; one daughter, Valory Leonard of Richland; three sons, Jerry Hodges of Austin, Dan Hodges of Pidcoke and Butch Hodges of Lampasas; seven grandchildren, Jill Hodges, David Hodges, A.J. Leonard, Gerri Sue Leonard, Tim Hodges, Andy Hodges and Jakey Hubble; and a brother, A.G. Hodges of Lampasas.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, Lampasas Fire Department Equipment Fund or the Baptist Children's Home in Georgetown.

Mrs. Painter
Graveside services were May 22, 2004, at Sand Hill Cemetery in Bend for Mildred G. Painter of Lampasas. Minister Dennis Scroggins officiated.
Mrs. Painter died May 19 at a local nursing home. She was 86.
Born on May 30, 1917, in Lometa, she was the daughter of Thomas Bradberry and the former Maude Wallace.
She married Robert Painter on June 21, 1952, in El Paso.
Mrs. Painter was a nurse who practiced in El Paso, as well as in Illinois and California, and at the hospital in Wiley, Texas.
A longtime resident of the area, she was also a member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Painter's survivors include a daughter, Barbara Jones of Bend; a son, Edward D. Marley of Murphy, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 12, 1994, and by two sisters.

Mr. Wiley
A memorial service will be conducted May 29, 2004, at Oak Hill Cemetery for Billy Joe Wiley of Lampasas, with Minister Elvis Fisher to officiate.
Mr. Wiley died May 20 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas at the age of 63. His body will be cremated.
The son of Leslie Wiley and the former Marcel "Lou" Shaw, Mr. Wiley was born Oct. 22, 1940, in Houston. He graduated from high school in Houston and later joined the U.S. Navy.
After serving his country for two years, Mr. Wiley began a civil service career that lasted more than 30 years. He started in the phone company section of Fort Hood and later worked for the fire department.
Mr. Wiley married Mary Geneva Faulk in 1968 in Belton. She preceded him in death in 2001.
His survivors include three sons, John Wiley and wife, Randi, James Wiley and wife, Kima, and Jason Wiley, all of Lampasas; two sisters, Sandy Bigham and Doris Owens, both of Belton; five grandchildren, Justin, Garrett, Kerbi, Holden and Rafe Wiley; and his parents, of Belton.
In addition, a grandson, Colton Wiley, preceded him in death.
Memorials may be made to the Lampasas Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1403, Lampasas, TX 76550.

Mr. Yoho
Jason Day Yoho, 31, of Kempner died May 21, 2004, at the University Medical Center in San Antonio.
Funeral services will be May 25 at 10 a.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home in Lampasas. Jimmy Carson will officiate, with the Rev. Russ Cochran to assist. Burial will follow at Kempner City Cemetery.
Mr. Yoho was born Sept. 1, 1972, in Lampasas to Chuck and Jeanie Day Yoho. He attended Copperas Cove High School. Mr. Yoho had lived in the Lampasas-Kempner area all his life.
He married Misty Baker on June 28, 1991, in Coryell County.
A member of Hillside Evangelical Methodist Church in Copperas Cove, Mr. Yoho was employed as a carpenter with Total Restoration/Instar Co.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; three sons, Dustin, Jacob and Brandon Yoho, all of Lampasas; one brother, Joshua Yoho of Kempner; his parents, also of Kempner; a grandmother, Betty L. Yoho of Copperas Cove; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Mr. Yoho was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ira A. Yoho, on Jan. 28, 2004, and Charles Day in 1960, and by his grandmother, Thelma Day, on Jan. 3, 2000.
Memorial donations may be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch.

Mrs. Grozier
Grace Grozier, 99, formerly of San Saba, died May 17, 2004, at a nursing home in Boerne.
Graveside services were May 19 at San Saba City Cemetery with the Rev. Tommy Grozier officiating.
Mrs. Grozier was born Sept. 9, 1904, in Cisco to Frank Turknett and the former Molley Page Whitten.
She was a longtime resident of San Saba, where she was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Her husband, Tom Grozier, preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1978.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jane Holton of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a son, Tommy R. Grozier of Boerne; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Odessa Garrett of Lubbock and Oleta Noble of Andrews; and one brother, Raymond Turknett of Stephenville.
Dodson-Sneed Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wagley
Funeral services were May 18, 2004, at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel in Cisco for Amy Wagley of Cisco. She died May 15 in a Lampasas nursing home at the age of 92.
The Revs. Kelly Chadwick and Pat Riley officiated, with burial afterward in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Wagley was born in Scranton, Texas, on Feb. 25, 1912, to John Henry and Susan McCain Johnson.
She married Virgil Rufus Wagley in Walters, Okla., on Sept. 15, 1930.
Mrs. Wagley was a supervisor at Boss Glove Manufacturing and a member of First Baptist Church.
Her survivors include a daughter, Nada Thogmartin of Lampasas; grandson Jon R. Thogmartin of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; granddaughter Dana Sue Turner of Garland; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 30, 1987, and by a daughter, Sue Wagley.
Pallbearers were Gene Milner, Robert Miller, Pirtle Hunsaker, Joe Canada, John Warren and Bill Morgan.

Mr. Chitwood
Funeral services were May 19, 2004, for former Gatesville City Councilman Harold Gene Chitwood, 72. He died May 16 at his residence in Gatesville.
Services at First United Methodist Church of Gatesville were followed by burial at the Smith Cemetery in Purmela.
Mr. Chitwood was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952, and served in the Korean Conflict. He was past commander of the Gatesville VFW Post 8320 and worked as a civilian employee at Fort Hood for 36 years.
He also was president of the Gatesville Jaycees, president of the Gatesville Riding Club, a member of the Coryell County Sheriff's Posse and a member of the Gatesville Masonic Lodge 197.
In addition to his service on the council, Mr. Chitwood had served on the Gatesville Chamber of Commerce and as a deacon and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Gatesville.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Dianne Chitwood of Gatesville; one stepson, Michael Deorsam and wife, Grace, of Killeen; one stepdaughter, Pam Hays, and husband, John, of Euless; three grandchildren, Dusty Deorsam, Beau Deorsam and Rachael Deorsam, all of Killeen; and one great-grandson, Daylen, also of Killeen.
Other survivors include two sisters, Nita Moore of Gatesville and Marilyn McConathy of Louisiana; a brother, Weldon Chitwood of Gatesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 26, Gatesville, TX 76528.

Mr. Jones
Raymond "Ray" Jones of Fredericksburg died May 14, 2004, at Seton Medical Center of Austin at the age of 74.
A memorial service will be May 22 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Hubert Thompson to officiate. Private interment will be held later.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Shirley Stanley Jones of Fredericksburg; one daughter, Ruth, and her husband, Thomas Brittian, of Adamsville; two sons, D.J. Jones and wife, Shannon, of Harper, and Jay Jones and wife, Deborah, of Georgetown; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Esther, and her husband, Jim Hatherly, of Killeen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.
