Roy Samples
JACKSONVILLE - Services for Roy T. Samples, 88, of Jacksonville, were Saturday at Renfro Memorial Chapel of Boren-Conner Funeral Home with Rev. Ken McEachern officiating. Burial was in Bullard City Cemetery.
Mr. Samples died Jan. 4 in Jacksonville.
He was born May 24, 1912 in Wolfe City and lived most of his life in the Jacksonville area.
Mr. Samples retired from Southwestern Electric Service Co. with 15 years' service and was a member of Beall's Chapel Baptist Church. He was an ordained minister and preached for several years.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Alice Samples of Jacksonville; a son, Charles Samples of Jacksonville, daughter Naomi Redford of Jacksonville; a brother, Luther Samples of Greenville; two sisters, Edith Stailey and Mary Lou Fulfer, both of Greenville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Billy Lee Lovelady, Jim Buckley, Keith Hunter, Mickey Burns, Dan Gattis and Chris "Kitt" Barton. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Thurman and Anthony Johnson.

Opal Terry
Opal M. Terry, 100, of Grand Prairie died Monday at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Vowell. Burial is in Forest Park Cemetery.
The daughter of James A. and Julia Yancy, she was born Jan. 6, 1901 in Campbell. On Dec. 16, 1928 she was married to Carl C. Terry in Commerce. Mrs. Terry was a homemaker and a member of Westview United Methodist Church.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Mickey and Bill Shelton of Grand Prairie; grandchildren Debbie Shelton of Arlington, Mike and, wife, Inga Shelton of Fort Worth, Dena Shelton and Deidre Shelton of Dallas, Deneen and, husband, Mark St. Clair of Arlington and Chris and, wife, Windy Shelton of Grand Prairie and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, three brothers and one sister.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Thelma Vance
COMMERCE - Thelma Joe Cox Vance, 83, of Garland died Monday. A graveside service is scheduled at 2 p.m. today at Rosemound Cemetery with Rev. Bill Booher officiating.
Born Dec. 12, 1917 in Commerce, she was the daughter of Clarence L. Prigmore and Lydia Rainey Prigmore. She was a former resident of Commerce and graduated from Clifton High School in Clifton.
Mrs. Vance was a sales clerk for K-Mart, retiring in 1983. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Murphy.
Mrs. Vance is survived by a son, David Cox of Trenton; a brother, Carroll Lee Prigmore of Garland; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William W. Prigmore.
Pemberton Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Wright
LEONARD - Funeral services for Billy Morris Wright, 59, of Emory, formerly of Leonard, are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Leonard with Rev. Riley Hamilton and Rev. Jason Roelen officiating. Burial is in Pilot Point Cemetery.
Mr. Wright died Monday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.
He was born Oct. 30, 1941, son of William Morris Wright Sr. and Naomi Grant Wright. He married Karen Knight in June 1994 in Las Vegas, Nev. Mr. Wright was a retired insurance salesman.
He is survived by his wife of Emory; sons Kevin Wright of Celina and Kelly Wright of Frisco; a stepdaughter, Donna Robbins of Emory; two grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.
Pallbearers are Perry Morris, Arvis Buchanan, Gary Felmet, David Kent, Johnny Neal and David Williams.
Memorials may be made to Believers Baptist Church Building Fund in Emory.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home of Leonard.

Mary Lou Bray
MERIT - Mary Lou Bray, 69, of Merit died Saturday at her residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Merit Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Fisher officiating. Burila is in Merit Cemetery.
Mrs. Bray was born March 19, 1931, in Grandview; the daughter of Roy A. and Mary Lindsay Stanley. She was married to Robert Bray on Oct. 7, 1947.
She was a member of Blessed Home Baptist Church and helped raised several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her husband of Merit; sons, Roy Bray of Grays Prairie and Michael Bray of Merit; daughter, Sheila Jones of Dallas; brothers, Roy Stanley Jr. of Mansfield and Jackie Stanley of Desoto; sisters, Juanita Wylie of Cleburne and Mickie Leis of Kennedale; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Bill Stanley and James Stanley; and son, Morey Bray.
Pallbearers are Mark Followwell, Monty Followwell, Randy Stanley, Kevin Bray, Steven Stanley and Chance Boulton.

Cindy Cross
CUMBY - Cindy Cross, 48, of Cumby died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Cumby with Rev. Betty Lou Payne and Rev. Lealon Williams officiating. Burial is in Cumby Cemetery.
Mrs. Cross was born Jan. 31, 1952, in Texas City; the daughter of Edwin and Gladys Sula Sebesta. She was married to Michael Alan Cross on Aug. 11, 1973, in Texas City.
A 1975 graduate of Texas A&M University, Mrs. Cross was a health inspector and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cumby.
Surviving are her husband of Cumby; daughter, Kelly Cross of Cumby; son, Michael Cross of Cumby; and brother, Kenneth Sebesta of Rhode Island.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1988, her mother in 2000 and a brother.
Cumby Funeral Home is inc charge of arrangements.

Earnest Baxter
LADONIA - Earnest Clay Baxter of Ladonia died Friday in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Ladonia with Sam Bush officiating. Burial will be in Ladonia Cemetery.
Born Sept. 25, 1928 in Hollis, Okla., he was the son of James B. and Eula Baxter. He married Ella Walton in 1947. Mr. Baxter had lived in Ladonia for the last 19 years and was a construction worker.
Survivors include his wife of Ladonia; two sons, Don Baxter of Arlington and James Baxter of Carrollton; two daughters, Brenda Ulman of Irving and Debby Anthony of Little Elm; brothers Billy Ray Baxter of Kerrville and James Baxter of Graham; sisters Marie Lewis of Post and Faye Binew of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Norma Mauldin
YUKON, Okla. - Funeral services for Norma Lee Mauldin of Yukon, Okla., formerly of Greenville, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in El Reno, Okla. with Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the Yukon Cemetery.
She died Thursday at the Grace Living Center.
She was born May 5, 1911 in Konawa, Okla. Mrs. Mauldin was a homemaker and a member of Mayridge Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Greenville and had resided in Yukon for the last 13 years.
Survivors include her husband, Roy F. Mauldin of Yukon, Okla.; two sons, Maynard McNeely of California and James Mauldin of Okarche, Okla.; daughter Richadene Christian of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mary Orr
Mary Quattlebaum Orr, 77, of Greenville died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Alonzo Shelley officiating. Burial will be in McWright Cemetery.
Daughter of Clifton C. and Eulalia Kate Quattlebaum, she was born Feb. 2, 1923 in Greenville. In September 1957 she and William H. Orr were married in Houston. Mrs. Orr was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Surviving are four sisters, Alma Walker and Nancy Quattlebaum of Greenville, Sarah Eslinger of Harrison, Ark. and Kathleen Shelley of Holly Lakes Ranch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Annie Schrimsher
EMORY - Annie May Schrimsher, 86, of Emory died Saturday at Green Acres Nursing Home in Emory. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Diller officiating. Burial is in Smyrna Cemetery. Pallbearers are Floyd Greene, Ernest Cain, Earl Hill, Ivan Alexander Jr., L.M. Braziel and Bob Sisk.
Born May 7, 1914 in Rains County, she was the daughter of John Schrimsher and Eugenia Kennemer Schrimsher.
She was a school teacher for 44 years in the Emory and Greenville school districts, and a member of the Emory United Methodist Church.
Miss Schrimsher is survived by two sisters, Alean Meyer of Emory, and Dollie Baker of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and one brother, Bobby Schrimsher of Emory.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Lettie Jo Schrimsher; and a brother, John Schrimsher.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Edith Barker
WOLFE CITY - Edith McCright Barker, died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Commerce following a long illness. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
Born May 3, 1914 in Celeste, Mrs. Barker was the daughter of George Washington and Mary Emaline Thomas McCright. She was married to Ted Barker on June 18, 1930 in Ardmore, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of Wolfe City; two daughters, Mary Fowler of Bakersfield, Calif. and Helen Raper of Lodi, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Bounds of Fallon, Nev. and Edna McDaniel of Sherman; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Five brothers preceded her in death.
Pallbearers are Vernon Shive, C.D. Giddiens, Kenneth Woodruff, Colin Owens, Jim Fowler and Ed Fowler. Bethel Henslee and Wayne McWhirter are honorary pallbearers.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Nelda Bryant
Nelda Norwood Bryant, 78, of Campbell, died Wednesday night at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Rick Henslee officiating.
She was born Jan. 10, 1923 in San Marcos to Stout Ventress Norwood and Ruth Burtis. On June 23, 1946 she was married to Bill Bryant in Austin.
A retired elementary school teacher, Mrs. Bryant taught in Quinlan, Aransas Pass and Austin schools from 1971 to 1985. She was a member of Johnson Street Church of Christ.
Mrs. Bryant was an auxiliary member of 36th Infantry Division at Camp Mabry in Austin and a member of Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law Dawn and Harry Gramley of Campbell and Cynthia and Bill Gramley of Dallas; two sisters, Rachel Rosier of Bryan and Jean Wykes of Austin; granddaughter and grandson-in-law April and Michael Sebesta of Campbell and a great-grandson, Jacob Sebesta of Campbell.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Bill Bryant; a son, Clayton R. Bryant; her parents and a brother, Jerry Norwood.
Memorials may be made to Texas Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 300630, MC4-4483, Houston 77230 (a fund for children with congenital heart defects).
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Eldon Earle
Eldon "Rusty" Earle, 80, of Campbell died Wednesday at Honey Grove Nursing Home. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Chaffin officiating. Burial is in Sullivan Cemetery.
The son of Bayles and Jessie Earle, he was born Sept. 21, 1920 in Hunt County.
Mr. Earle in the U.S. Army during World War II. She was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
Four nephews and seven nieces survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters and two nephews.
Pallbearers are M.B. Chaffin, W.B. Barnett, Gary Wallace, Roy Lemon, Barry Earle, Shawn Earle.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
