Clara Morris
Clara Cantrell Morris, 75, of Greenville died Friday at Smith Nursing Center in Wolfe City. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tidwell Cemetery with the Rev. Leon Lorton officiating.
She was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Cumby to Luther Carl Winkle and Geneva Burle Lee. After 20 years of service, Mrs. Morris retired from the Greenville public school system where she worked as a custodian.
She is survived by her son, Johnnie Merrell Cantrell of Wills Point; daughters, Latricia Austin of Levelland and Betty Harrison of Commerce; brother, C.J. Winkle of Missouri; sisters, Lois Pullman of Missouri, Wynona Epperson of North Carolina, Allie Pruitt of Arkansas and Bonnie Apple of Greenville; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home.

Connie Perez
Connie Stone Perez, 42, of Emory died Saturday at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Clyde Morrell and Jimmy Jarrett officiating. Burial will be at Elm Cemetery.
Mrs. Perez was born March 28, 1959, in Sulphur Springs to Jimmy Stone and Barbara Asbill. She was a homemaker and was Baptist.
Mrs. Perez is survivied by her husband, Henry Perez; and daughter, Tina Perez of Emory; her father, Jimmy Stone of Oklahoma; mother, Barbara Hall of Emory; .
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Carl Roddy
Carl Roddy, 85, of Greenville died Friday at Kindred Hospital in Dallas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Billy Smith and Joel Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mr. Roddy was born Oct. 17, 1915, in Hopkins County to Sam Roddy and Nora Payne. He married Ina Willaby on June 11, 1938, in Greenville.
He was an employee of Robin Hood Flour Mill and a member of the Assembly of God.
He is survived by his wife; son, Phillip Roddy of Lone Oak; daughters, Sue Blunt of Greenville and Mary Kinworthy of Campbell; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Roddy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Marion Roddy; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Randy Kinworthy, Ronnie Kinworthy, Shane Roddy, Eric Blunt, Chris Kinworthy and Brent Gluck will be pallbearers.

Vera Romans
CUMBY " Vera Romans, 85, of Cumby died Friday at her home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Cumby with Dan Newman officiating. Burial will be at Cumby Cemetery.
Mrs. Romans was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Emory to Johnny and Emma Tucker Sanderson. She married Deck Romans on Oct. 12, 1929, in Cumby. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cumby for more than 43 years. After 20 years of service, she retired from the Sulphur Springs Independent School District where she worked as a bus driver. Her greatest love was visiting the elderly in nursing homes.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Jeane Newman of Combine and Ima L. Walls of Dallas; son, V.D. ROmans of Cumby; brother, Malcom Sanderson of Cumby; sister, Eddie Martin of Athens; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchldren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Romans was preceded in death by two brothers, TOmmy and Ferrell Sanderson; and two infant children.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Cumby Funeral Home.
Danley Wayne Newman III, Nicholas Ray Nicholson, Matthew David Shofner, Jonathan Michael Shofner, Darrell Alfred Newman and Alexander Todd Romans will serve as pallbearers.
Elisha Newman, Teresa Michelle Newman, Kristy de Anne Newman, Tyler Joseph Romans and Amy Lynne Newman will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ola Rowland
LEONARD " Ola Peak Rowland, 88, of Sherman, formerly of Leonard, died Satrday at Wilson N. Jones Regional Health Center in Sherman. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Taylor Funeral Home chapel in Leonard. Burial will be at Leonard Cemetery.
Ms. Rowland was born Sept. 5, 1912 in Quitman to P.S. Wilbanks and Mary B. Powell Wilbanks. She was a members of First Baptist Church in Leonard and was self employed.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Plumlee of Sherman; son, James Frank Caldwell of Leonard; sister, Sallie Swanson of Tyler; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joe Crouch
"Poppi" Joe Crouch, 72, of Terrell died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at Vansickle Baptist Church. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Dallas at 1 p.m. Danny Davis will officiate.
Son of Jody K. Crouch and Artie Palestine Shelton Crouch, he was born May 15, 1929, in Ferris. Mr. Crouch was a wholesale meat jobber and was of the Baptist faith. He was in the Army in the Korean War.
Mr. Crouch is survived by his wife Edna Crouch of Terrell; two sons, Robert Michael Crouch of Pottsboro and Glynn Crouch of Terrell; a daughter, Roxanna Roe of Whitewright; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Shelton Maurice Crouch and Thomas Wayne Crouch, preceded him in death.
Lynch Alternative Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Ray Long
Ray Dean "Steamer" Long, 55, of Greenville died Thursday afternoon at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Shaddox officiating. Graveside services at Elm Cemetery will include a Masonic service with Doc Rackey officiating and an Odd Fellow service with Joe Montana officiating.
Born Nov. 26, 1945, in Commerce, he was the son of J.T. Long and Leta Stubbs Long. He married Peggy Birmingham on July 4, 1964, in Hopkins County. Mr. Long was self-employed, operating Steamatic Carpet Cleaning since 1978. He was a member of Salem-Kinser United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Shriner, York Rite Mason and was an Odd Fellow. Mr. Long was a recipient of the Golden Trowel Award, was a Past Masonic Master, Grand Lodge Past District Education officer, Odd Fellow Past Grand and Odd Fellow Past Chief Patriarch.
Survivors include his wife of Greenville; his mother of Emory; a son, Craig Long of Greenville; daughter and son-in-law Paula and Brian Orr of Sulphur Springs; sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Charles Carter of Sulphur Springs; a grandson, Sean Orr of Sulphur Springs and granddaughter Heather Lyday of Greenville.
His father and an infant sister, Francis Long, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Odell Birmingham, Neal Griffin, Joe Cheak, David Williams, Jerry Brewer, Jim Woelfle, James Foote and Kent Broome. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ivey, T.S. Lamb, Bill Sprouse and Charlie Barnhardt.
Memorials may be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ruth Martinez
Ruth Martinez of Greenville died Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 10 am. today at St. William's Catholic Church with Rev. Antonio Oscar Diez. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Caddo Mills.
She was born July 4, 1945, in McKinney to Bruno and Angelita Macias. On June 15, 1968, she was married to Juaquin Martinez in Greenville. Mrs. Martinez lived in Greenville for 55 years. She was a member of St. William's Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband of Greenville; a son, Eric J. Martinez of Greenville; daughter Rebecca Lewis of Greenville; two sisters, Nina Armitage and Dorothy Lasovich, both of Greenville; two nieces, Teresa Prestien and Benita Hardin, both of Greenville and three grandchildren.
Her parents, three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
Pallbearers will be Antonio Chavez, Ricky Morquez, Terry Michael Norfleet, Danny Graza, Necolas Vargas and Julio Mestaz. Honorary pallbearers will be Necolas Vargas Jr., Jason Mestaz, Joshua Mestaz and Delana Graza.
Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Charles Mayo
Charles Reuben Mayo, 95, of Greenville died Thursday evening at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Born Jan. 6, 1906, in Knox City, he was the son of Charley Hudson Mayo and Lucy Eugenia Beck Mayo. He married Bernie Jo Echols on Nov. 17, 1928, in Greenville. Mr. Mayo was a wholesale distributor. He was a charter member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
Mr. Mayo is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law Charles O. and Gloria Mayo of Greenville and Larry and Donna Mays of Greenville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers.
Pallbearers will be grandsons George Mayo, Steve Mayo, David Mayo, Eric Hoffman, Terry Arnold and Jason Barborak. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Boulton, J.C. Green, Gilbert Nelson, Hughes White, Jack Dumas and Lowell Lawson.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Jesse Hargett
AZLE " Jesse John Hargett, 84, of Greenville died Tuesday at a Dallas hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at White's Azle Chapel. Burial will be in Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle.
He had lived in Greenville since August 1986. Mr. Hargett was a Mason, a retired oilfield equipment salesman and a farmer. During World War II he served in Korea as an MP in the Army.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and James Grimshaw of Greenville; grandchildren James Grimshaw IV and wife Heather of Golden, Colo. and Courtney Fowler and husband Cody of Almaty, Kazakhstan; two nieces; five nephews and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association and American Cancer Society.
Visitation is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at White's Azle Funeral Home.

Evon Lockmiller
Evon Satterwhite Lockmiller, 87, of Fort Worth died Wednesday morning at Columbia North Hills Hospital in North Richland Hills. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Franklin Orr officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Cemetery.
Born Jan. 20, 1914, in White Oak, she was the daughter of George David Satterwhite and Mollie McQueen Satterwhite. She was married to Frank Lockmiller on Feb. 4, 1948 in Rockwall. She graduated from Greenville High School, attended beauty college in Dallas and attended East Texas State Teaching School. Mrs. Lockmiller was a hair stylist, working at McCasland's Beauty Shop in Greenville for 18 years and she owned her own shop in Fort Worth. She was a member of Springdale Baptist Church in Fort Worth for 50 years and taught Sunday school and Training Union for many years.
Mrs. Lockmiller is survived by her husband of Fort Worth; son and daughter-in-law Burl and Pam Lockmiller of Bedford; a brother, Burl Jack Satterwhite of Greenville; two sisters, Elva Tapp of Cash and Grace Sampson of Canyon; grandchildren Marcus Lockmiller and William Lockmiller both of Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Tapp, Gerry Satterwhite, Robbie Satterwhite, Jim Satterwhite, Tom Brewer and Richard Satterwhite.
Memorials may be made to Springdale Baptist Church Building Fund.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kenneth Pendergrass Sr.
FARMERSVILLE " Kenneth Leven Pendergrass Sr., 56, of Merit, died Wednesday at Baylor Hospital in Garland. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Merit Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy White officiating. Burial will be in Merit Cemetery.
Son of William Pendergrass and Beatrice Beggs Pendergrass, he was born Feb. 27, 1945, in Royse City. He married Katie Riley Pendergrass on Aug. 7, 1964, in Garland. Mr. Pendergrass was an electrician. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Garland.
Survivors include his wife of Merit; two daughters, Tammy Sellers of Merit and Carla Martin of Commerce; a son, Kenneth Pendergrass Jr. of Merit; sisters Judy Easterling, Kathy Wallace and Irene Smith, all of Alba and four grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hurst's Fielder-Baker Funeral Home of Farmersville.

Alice Aston
FARMERSVILLE " Alice Elizabeth Aston, 86, of Farmersville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Bart Barber and Rev. Tracy Odneal officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Born Nov. 23, 1914 in Lufkin, she was the daughter of John Byus and Alice Cox Byus. On June 25, 1940, she was married to Joe Aston Jr. in Farmersville. Mrs. Aston worked as a librarian. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Farmersville, the Farmersville Historical Society and Farmersville Garden Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Stooksberry of Farmersville and Elizabeth Sullivan of Austin; a son, Joe Aston III of Farmersville; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home.

Corene Brown
LEONARD " Funeral services for Mrs. Corene Brown, 71, of Leonard, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willis Houston officiating. Burial will be in Leonard Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown died Wednesday in the Wilson N. Jones Regional Health Center in Sherman.
She was born Feb. 25, 1930 in Fort Tyson, Okla., to Alonzo Brown and Leona Clay Brown. She was a homemaker and she was a Baptist.
Mrs. Brown is survived by son John Brown of Leonard; three sisters, Beatrice Espy of Leonard, Ruby Hailey of Bonham and Lula Robinson of Paris and a brother, John H. Simmons of Paris.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Funeral Home.

"Maxie" Gilmore
"Maxie" Gilmore, 75, of Greenville died Wednesday morning at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Southside Church of Christ with Gordon Grammer and Scott Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
She was born July 28, 1925, in Celeste to Mack Pugh and Eva Mitchell Pugh. On Oct. 30, 1946, she was married to Olen Gilmore in Greenville. Mrs. Gilmore was an apartment manager. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sharon Gilmore and Wayne and Beverly Gilmore, all of Greenville; sisters Alma Jones and Stella Sampson of Greenville and Jessie Rainwater of Celeste; granddaughters Stacy Gilmore and Andrea Gilmore of Greenville; grandson Scott Gilore of Beeville and great-grandchildren Kaitlin Gilmore, Skyler McMinn and Morgan McMinn of Greenville and Allison Gilmore of Beeville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Alvis Roden and Mable Biffle.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Gunnells, Johnny Curry, Jerry Morrison, Sammy Duncan, Sid Driggers and Bart Calahan.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.

Clevie Guttery
Clevie Lucille Guttery of Dallas died Tuesday at Parkland Hospital. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Mount Cemetery with Rev. Robert Baldridge officiating.
She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Lake City, Ark. to Manurva Katherine Stevens McGee. She was a seamstress and she was a Baptist.
Surviving are two sons, Eugene Harley and William Lee Guttery, both of Dallas; two daughters, Beulah Lucille Reese of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Shirley Deniece Guttery of Morgan City, La.; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A son, David Guttery, preceded her in death.
Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Ray Howard
FARMERSVILLE " Ray Gene Howard, 77, of Pottsboro died Tuesday at Texoma Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hurst's Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge.
Son of Donald Felix Howard and Ola Kent Howard, he was born June 19, 1924 in Blue Ridge. On June 26, 1944, he married Lela Fitzgerald in Rockwall. He served in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Howard was a Baptist. He worked in real estate.
Mr. Howard is survived by his wife of Pottsboro; three daughters, Dianne Parker of Gainesville, Cathy Mitcheltree of Euless and Hope Milroy of Gordonville; two sisters, Connie Pye Vest of North Conway, N.H. and Ann Smith of Las Vegas, Nev.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
