Grady Farmer

CADOO MILLS - Grady Mack Donald Farmer of Caddo Mills died Tuesday at his home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m today at the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Caddo Mills with Rev. Richard Ham officiating. Burial will be in Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

He was born in Hunt County on Nov. 11, 1918 to Mack Farmer and Margaret Klutz. He married Juanita Howard. He was a member of Full Gospel Assembly Church.

Survivors include his wife of Caddo Mills; two daughters, Mary Ann McMahan and Bonita McGinn of Caddo Mills; a brother, Paul Farmer of Caddo Mills; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were an infant son, four brothers, three sisters and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Rex King, Phil King, Billy Burkett, John McMahan, Don McKenzie and Rick Martin.

Rentfrow Funeral Home of Caddo Mills is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Apple

LADONIA -Thelma Viola Apple of Ladonia died Monday at her home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Ladonia with Russ Whaley officiating. Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery.

She was born in Ladonia on Dec. 21, 1913, daughter of James Caldwell Owens Sr. and Mary Alice Fields Owens. She married Herschel A. Apple; he preceded her in death. She was a lifetime resident of Ladonia. Mrs. Apple was a retired Nurse's Aide.

She is survived by a son, Audie Gene Apple of Klondike; a daughter, Bernie Jo Madeley of Keller; a brother, Cleve Owens of Ladonia; a sister, Hazel Hewitt of Wolfe City; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Delta Funeral Home of Ladonia. The funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Betts

QUINLAN - Donald Earl Betts, 41, of Quinlan died Nov. 25 at his home. There will be a memorial service at a future date at Smith Funeral Home in Alton, Ill.

He was born in Alton, Ill. on Feb. 20, 1956 to Wesley Earl and Margaret Smith Betts. He was a carpenter.

Surviving are his father and his stepmother, Joyce Allen Betts of Brighton, Ill.; three brothers, David Betts, Lark Betts and Daryl Betts of Brighton, Ill.; one sister, Helen Betts Koehler of Brighton, Ill. and his grandmother, Ellen Smith of Dongolla, Ill.

His mother preceded him in death on July 3, 1992.

Quinlan LyBrand Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Freda Blacketer

LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Freda Blacketer, 74, of Valley Creek will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church in Leonard with Rev. Wally Williams and Charles Wrenn officiating. Burial will be in the Randolph-Lindsey Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

Daughter of Joe M. Stevens and Bess Cox Stevens, she was born in the Valley Creek Community on May 21, 1923. She married Thomas Blacketer in 1943 in Nevada. He died Oct. 6, 1968. Mrs. Blacketer was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a bookkeeper-accountant.

Surviving are a son, Jerry Blacketer of Valley Creek; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home in Leonard.

Lillian Ermler

LONE OAK - Lillian B. Ermler, 72, of Lone Oak died Monday at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Sulphur Springs. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday in Redeemer Lutheran Church in Greenville with Rev. Clayton McCord officiating. Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Fort Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio.

Mrs. Ermler was born March 1, 1925, in Houston to Frank and Amelia Wacker Blaner. She was married to Henry Ermler on June 26, 1943, in San Antonio.

She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and served for several years as a foster mother. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a son, Henry Ermler Jr. of Lone Oak; daughter, Dawn Musser of Lake Oswago, Ore.; sisters, Gertrude Machost of Lone Oak and Margie Ross of Chandler, Ariz.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 30, 1985.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bartley Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Reid

James Michael Reid of Nashville, Tenn., formerly of Greenville and San Diego, Calif., died Thursday in a Nashville hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Forest Park Cemetery with Chaplain Col. Wesley V. Geaty, U.S. Army, retired, officiating.

Son of Sylvia and William "Bill" Reid, he was born May 23, 1954 in Newport, R.I. He married Peggy Elaine Barclay on Nov. 1, 1989. He graduated from Greenville High School and attended East Texas State University. He retired from the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Independence during the Gulf War. Mr. Reid worked for ProLine Carriers and operated a small ceramics business.

He is survived by his wife of Nashville, Tenn.; his grandfather, Virgil Sprankle of Oklahoma; his mother of Plano; a son, Billy Reid of Campbell; a daughter, Christen Reid of Campbell; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Marsha Reid of Plano and a sister, Terrie Reid of San Antonio.

His father preceded him in death.

Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Fannie Smith

Fannie Mae Smith, 67, of Greenville, died Sunday at her home. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvin Ray officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.

Daughter of W.E. Quattlebaum and I.V. Smithers, she was born in Hunt County on June 2, 1930. She was a retired operator with Southwestern Bell. She was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church and she was a member of Telephone Pioneer.

Surviving are her mother of Greenville; three sons, Glen W. Smith of Greenville, Johnny E. Smith of Idaho and Tommy J. Smith of Quinlan; a daughter, Debbie L. Bryant of Greenville; three brothers, Billy G. Quattlebaum of Cash, Jerry R. Quattlebaum of Irving and Jimmy E. Quattlebaum of Greenville; a sister, Janice Penson of Greenville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her father and a brother, W.E. Quattlebaum Jr.

Elba White

McKINNEY - Elba Fleming White, 80, died at her daughter's home in Lucas on Monday. Memorial services were held Tuesday at Christopher's Episcopal Church in Dallas. Burial was in Brigham Cemetery in Campbell.

She was born Jan. 1, 1917 in Grove Hill, Ala. She grew up in the Campbell area. Mrs. White retired from the First City Bank in Dallas.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara White Allan and Bruce P. Allan of Lucas; a son, Larry Joe White of Bedford; sisters Louise Holley of Greenville, Mary Knight of Las Cruces, N.M., Willie G. McMillian of Selma, Ala. and Jo Wylie of Gladewater; brothers N.A. Fleming of Grand Prairie and Bill Fleming of Waxahachie and seven grandchildren.

Belew Funeral Home of McKinney was in charge of arrangements.

L.O. 'Jim' Coker

Funeral services for longtime Greenville businessman and civic leader L.O. "Jim" Coker will be at 1 p.m. today at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating. Mr. Coker died Friday in Greenvilleat the age of 86.

He was born on March 2, 1911, in Merit, the son of John B. and Rosa Etta Martin Coker. On Nov. 19, 1939, he married Martha Wicker, who survives.

He was reared in Floyd and attended school there. In 1946, he bought an interest in a local funeral home, which became known as Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home Ð and currently as Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Ð until his retirement. He also served on the funeral home's board of directors. In 1994, he was honored by the Texas Funeral Directors Association for 50 years of service as a funeral director.

A lifetime member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Coker served as its president in 1959 and that same year, received the organization's "Worthy Citizen" award. Coker also served on the boards of the Community Chest, which was the forerunner to the United Way; Greenville Independent School District; and Greenville Library. He was also on the committee that launched the YMCA in the city.

Coker also served as president of the Kiwanis Club and as a steward of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He was involved in several Red Cross activities and was a former member of the Rotary Club.

Other survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Jimmye and Russell Clem of Houston; daughter, Karen Hunt; and grandchildren, Grady Hunt, and Carrie and Steve Martin, all of Houston.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harve Coker, Clyde Coker and Alton Coker; sister, R. G. Duncan; and half-brothers., William Coker and Charlie Coker.

Visitation is at the church following the services. Pallbearers are employees and members of the funeral home's board of directors. Honorary pallbearers are members of the ALR Sunday School Class of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church building fund or the scholarship fund at Baylor University, P.O. Box 97026, Waco 76798-7026.

Frederick H. Donovan

EMORY - Frederick H. "Don" Donovan of Emory died Saturday at his home.A A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Wilson-Orwasky Funeral Chapel with his son, Rev. Don Donovan, officiating. Burial will be in Dougherty Cemetery.

Mr. Donovan was born in the Clinton community on Jan. 23, 1917, to Frank and Ida Mae Chandler Hortid. He married Ona Dell Scribner on Aug. 5, 1948, in Wichita Falls. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a mason and retired inspector for Lockheed Aircraft. He was a member of th Church of Christ.

Surviving are sons Rev. Donovan of Java, N.Y., and Don Patrick Donovan of Carlsbad, N.M.; daughters Donna D. Dixon of Emory and Virginia Waxdahl of Flandreaux, S. D.; a sister, Frankie Grange of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993 and a sister, Wynl Calhoun.

Johnny Hamilton

COMMERCE - Johnny William Hamilton, 57, of Commerce, died Saturday in Commerce. Services will be at the Church of Christ at 11 a.m. Tuesday with David Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery.

He was born in Commerce on Sept. 21, 1940, to William Martin and Viola Weatherbee Hamilton. He married Billie Faye Key on April 6, 1997, in Greenville. He moved to Commerce from Irving in 1984. He was former truck driver for Hill Grain and Caravan Trucking and was employed by RGR Transportation. He was a member of College Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Johnny W. and Donna Hamilton Jr. of Paris; son Franklin Martin Hamilton of Commerce; daughter and son-in-law Deborah Kaye and David Wayne Smith of Cash; daughter Leslie Marie Hamilton of Commerce; Step-daughter and step-son-in-law Brenda Kaye and Yancey Hinman of Greenville; sisters Doris Jean Richelson, Jeanete Darelene Hamilton and Mary Jane Price of Tawakoni and brothers Donnie S. Hamilton of Tawakoni, Melvin N. Hamilton of Carrollton, Clifton R. Hamilton of Irving, Douglas E. Hamilton of Tawakoni, and James C. Hamilton and Billy Joe Hamilton of Irving; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Richard Hill, Charles Bruce, Owen Cook, Wesley Price, Bobby Young, Lupe Martinez, Stephen Belcher and Gary Halbert.

Pemberton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Evelyn Weaver

LEONARD - Services for Mrs. Evelyn Weaver, 86, of Leonard, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Leonard. Rev. Chris Cowen will officiate and burial will be in the Leonard Cemetery.

Mrs. Weaver died in Sherman on Saturday.

She was born in Leonard on Aug. 30, 1911, the daughter of James Bates and Rosa Lee Potts Bates. She retired from teaching in the public School system after 45 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Taylor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dora Butler

LADONIA -Dora Dean Butler, 88, of Dallas, died Saturday at Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. today at Ladonia City Cemetery with David Gibson officiating.

She was born in Mount Pleasant on July 21, 1909 to James Luther and Josey Wilhite Butler. Miss Butler was a former cashier for Wyatt's Cafeteria.

Surviving are one nephew, W.J. Kellum of Dallas; two nieces, Olga Brister of Dallas and Mary Broadus of Victoria.

Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of the arrangements.

Betty Henry

Betty Irene Henry, 80, of Greenville died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital Greenville. No services are planned.

She was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 16,1917, to Martin and Mary Lutcheiczh Swigonski. Shewas married to Paul Henry on June 6, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio. She was a cook for Joey's Supper Club and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Darlene Coger and Terri Smith, both of Greenville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Holland Dillard

EMORY - Holland Wayne "Hotshot" Dillard, 48, of Emory died Friday at the East Texas Medical CenterÐQuitman. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Bumgardner officiating. Burialis in Pilgrims Rest No. 1 in Emory.

He was born in Dallas on Sept. 4, 1949, to Holland and Faye Oats Dillard. He married Cynthia Birchfield in Dallas on May 11, 1968. He was a supervisor of the Sanitation Department for the City of Dallas.

Surviving are his wife; son, GregoryDillard of Emory; one daughter, Rebecca Perkins of Emory; two brothers, W. Leo Dillard of Houston and Johnny Mack Finch of Quinlan; three sisters, Cindy Johnson of Balch Springs; Kathy Carnes of Lone Oak and Patricia Brown of Campbell and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Holland and Faye Dillard and brother Edward Finch.

Pallbearers will be Chad Simmons, Junior Irons, Shannon Rusk, Johnny Wayne Melton, Wayne Malone, Hugo Ponce and Joe John Ponce.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
