Edgar Ablowich

Edgar Allen Ablowich, 84, of Virginia Beach, Va., formerly of Greenville, died Monday in Norfolk, Va. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Shinn officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

He was born in Commerce on April 29, 1913, son of David Jonathan and Nita Jacobs Ablowich. His family moved to Greenville in 1918. He graduated from Greenville High School; received a B.S. degree from the University of Southern California in 1934, an MBA from East Texas State Teachers College, Commerce, in 1968 and a Ph.D in management from North Texas State University in 1973. He and Virginia Mae Christopherson were married Sept. 2, 1936 in Los Angeles, Calif. Ablowich was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Ablowich was a member of the 1932 U.S. Olympic1600-meter relay team which won a gold medal in Los Angeles, Calif.

He was a retail merchant in Greenville for many years and was a longtime member of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church. He was an associate professor at the Air Force Institute of Technology for the University of Wyoming in Cheyenne, Wyo., retiring in 1981. He then moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, for a number of years. Ablowich moved to Virginia Beach, Va. in 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Dean Allen Ablowich of Virginia Beach, Va. and Ronald Edgar Ablowich of Durham, N.H.; a sister, Ann Alene Gravely of Stratham, N.H.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, April 21, 1997; two brothers, David Curtis Ablowich, 1974, and William James Ablowich, 1988 and a sister, Numa Kathryn Surgeon, 1989.

Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

B.C. Martin

B.C. Martin, 74, of Caddo Mills died Sunday at his residence. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Burial is in Gober Cemetery.

He was born May 22, 1923 in Bonham, son of Lee Martin and Nellie Tollison. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Martin was a welder with E-Systems. He was a Baptist and was a member of Greenville Masonic Lodge No. 335 and the V.F.W.

He is survived by two sons, Buford C. Martin of Wylie and Bob Martin of Lone Oak; two stepsons, Chris Farr of Quinlan and Phil Farr of Dallas; a daughter, Sherry Jobe of Caddo Mills; a brother, Dub Martin of Arkansas; three sisters, Annie Webster of Hale and Doris McDonald and Adie Hutchings, both of Bonham; ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Gary Wayne Martin and a sister, Onita Hensley.

Pallbearers are Harvey Purdom, Gene Reynolds, Buddy Luttrell, Paul Chapman, Harry Powell and Jim McBeth.

Lowry Molloy

Lowry Molloy, husband of Wilda Wilson Molloy, formerly of Greenville, died Monday in Lubbock.

There will be a funeral service today at 2 p.m. at Resthaven of Lubbock with Jerry Kendall, pastor of the Church of Christ in Clovis, N.M., officiating and Cecil Bunch assisting.

Mary Morris

Mary Elizabeth Morris of Greenville died Saturday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at New Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Snowton officiating. Burial is in Turner Cemetery in Henderson.

The daughter of Henry and Limmie Sanders Pryor, she was born in Henderson. She and Rev. L.E. Morris were married Jan. 20, 1934 in Henderson.

Mrs. Morris was a classroom teacher. She was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and was a member of Retired Teachers Association and Burdette Circle. She was a Deaconness.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna F. Brown of Paris; a sister, Corine Trimble of Henderson; and two nephews whom she raised, John Pryor of California and Clyde Pryor of Fort Worth and one grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one grandson.

Pallbearers are John Brown, LaDayne Wilson, Dessie Brown, Donald Ward, Marvin Sedberry and Fergus Jacobs.

Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomas Avery

Thomas Avery of Greenville, 52, died Monday at his residence. There is a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memoryland Memorial Park with Rev. Roger Ratliff officiating.

The son of Jack and Mary Avery, he was born Jan. 20, 1946 in Paris. He married Chris Andreola. He served in the Texas National Guard. He was a logistics manager.

Mr. Avery was a member of the Odd Fellows and Cooper Bass Club. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing, camping and auto mechanics.

Survivors include his wife of Greenville; his mother of Paris; two sons, Stephen Avery of Garland and Coby Shurtleff of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Laurie Ratliff and Brooke Avery, both of Greenville; two brothers, Gerald Avery of North Carolina and Ronnie Avery of Beaumont; a sister, Marilyn Avery of Nevada and five grandchildren, Lacey Avery, Erica Johnson, Brett Ratliff, Brad Ratliff and Ethan Arbuckle.

His father preceded him in death.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home.

C.A. Jennings

C.A. Jennings of Greenville died Monday at his residence. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Chapel with Rev. James Nance officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

The son of Elmer Jennings and Mariah Kurfees Jennings, he was born July 25, 1924 in Haskell. He and Doris Norfleet married Aug. 18, 1948 in Hunt County. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Jennings retired from E-Systems. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of Greenville; a son, Bobby Jennings of Mesquite; two daughters, Dr. Brenda Jennings of Flower Mound and Betty Maldonado of Allen; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A brother preceded him in death.

Edna Kiser

FARMERSVILLE - Funeral services for Edna Marie Kiser, 77, of Farmersville, are at 11 a.m. today at the Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville with Dr. Jeff Lethco and Rev. John Hudson officiating. Burial is in Stoney Point Cemetery in Blue Ridge.

She died Monday at Columbia Medical Center in McKinney.

She was born Oct. 2, 1920 in Morgan to Charles E. and Martha McQueary Wilson. She married Emory Kiser. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Kiser was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are a sister, Betty Wilson of Blue Ridge and three brothers, Woodrow Wilson, Pete Wilson and Clyde Wilson, all of Blue Ridge.

B.C. Martin

Elmer Starnes

QUINLAN - Elmer Kenneth Starnes, 82, of Terrell died Saturday in Mesquite. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Quinlan Lybrand Chapel with Pastor Richard Schaefer officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Ridge Cemetery.

He was born on April 8, 1916, in Van Alstyne to Robert Lee and Maude Starnes. He married Edna Starnes. Mr. Starnes was an aircraft mechanic.

Surviving are his wife of Lone Oak; three sons, Kenneth Starnes of Garland, Alton Starnes of Mesquite and Phillip Starnes of Payne Springs; four daughters, Sandra Hindman, Emily Jenkins and Terri Renfro, all of Mesquite, and Carolyn Carter of Terrell; two brothers, Darrell Starnes of Dallas and Virgil Starnes of Dennison; one niece; one nephew and many family and friends; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Quinlan Lybrand Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kay Morgan

EMORY - Kay Morgan, 53, of Emory died Thursday at Parkland Burn Center in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home in Emory with Rev. Paul Wilds and Rev. John Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest No. 1 Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 25, 1944 in Emory to Cleo and Ruth Adair Holland. She married James C. Nunley. She later married Walter C. Morgan in Oklahoma in April 1961. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Asembly of Yahvah.

Surviving are four sons, David Nunley of Duluth, Ga. and Alan Morgan, Donny Morgan and Kevin Morgan, all of Emory; a brother, John Holland of Marlow, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Jackson of Scotland and Lettie May Ditmore of Marlow, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Ditmore, Clay Harvey, Justin Morgan, Victor Slatter, Wyndell Clawson and Joe King.

Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral Home.

Robert Walker

Robert Harding Walker, 67, of Lone Oak died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Friday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Burial was in Prairie Valley Cemetery.

Born in Oak Cliff on June 7, 1930, he was the son of W.Q. "Bill" Walker and Ruth Frances Smead. He married Anita Zapata on Sept. 17, 1988 in Dallas. After retiring from a career in insurance and diversified investments, he was a private stock investor.

Surviving are his wife of Lone Oak; his mother of Dallas; two sons, Scott Walker of Carrollton and Blair Walker of Dallas; three daughters, Wendy Walker of Dallas, Suzanne Walker of Los Angeles, Calif. and Robin Walker of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a sister, Eleanor Fichtner of Old Greenwich, Ct. and two grandchildren, Jennava and Taylor Walker of Dallas.

His father preceded him in death.

Roger T. Wilson

Roger T. Wilson died Thursday in Granbury. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Wylie's Funeral Home in Granbury. Burial will be at Moore's Memorial Cemetery in Arlington at 3:45 p.m.

He was born in Groesbeck on Jan. 7, 1920 to William Drex and Mary S. Wilson. He was engaged in the oil and gas business most of his life. He was a member of the Episcopal church.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Shurman and a brother, Logan D. Wilson of Greenville.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Grace Carr

GRAHAM - Grace Virginia Carr, 89, of Graham, died Thursday in a Wichita Falls hospital. A graveside funeral is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville. Rev. Ben Shinn will officiate.

She was born Aug. 6, 1908 in Trenton to Timothy Dodd and Birdie Bernice Smith Ensminger. She married Houston R. Carr on June 17, 1966; he died in 1980. She was a longtime resident of Wichita Falls before moving to Graham in 1994. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Leonard.

Survivors include a niece and husband, Joan and Tim Eyssen of Graham; two great-nephews, David Beard of Abilene and Marc Gates of Wichita Falls and a great-niece, Laura Beard of Abilene.

Shirley Craig

Shirley A. Craig of Greenville died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Dixon Latham officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.

She was born Oct. 15, 1939 in Hopkins County, daughter of Clyde Washington and Emma Jane Day Sears. She married E.J. Craig on Oct. 15, 1961 in Greenville.

Mrs. Craig was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a housewife.

Surviving are her stepmother, Mary Sears, of Mesquite; two sons, Aaron Craig and Allen Craig, both of Greenville; a brother, Clyde Sears Jr. of Canton; two sisters, Sue Ballard of Sand Springs, Okla. and Clydia Kay Tate of Mesquite and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one brother.

Visitation is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Elwood Cude

Elwood G. Cude of Greenville died Thursday at Briarcliff Health Center. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Malakoff with Rev. Kay Pulley. Burial is in Malakoff Cemetery.

The son of Jess Cude and Josie Barnett Cude, he was born Jan. 26, 1917 in Lovelady. He and Addie Pearl Hardy were married Oct. 12, 1932 in Houston.

Mr. Cude served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked for Peterson Brothers Steel Erection Company for 42 years. He lived in Houston for 53 years and was a member and a deacon at First Baptist Church in Houston.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Susan Cude of Greenville; three brothers, Vauda Cude of Malakoff, Malcom Cude of Malakoff and Freddie Cude of Malakoff; a sister, Glen Pulley of Mesquite and granddaughters Melissa Kay Cude of Dallas and Megan Elizabeth Cude of Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 24, 1996; one sister, Flonnie Rainwater and brothers, Nolan Cude, Odell Cude, Darnell Cude, Otis Cude and Chester Cude.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Malakoff Baptist Church.

Ouida Girdner

Ouida Girdner of Wolfe City died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hazelip officiating. Burial is in Old Concord Cemetery.

Born Aug. 24, 1908 in Hunt County, she was the daughter of Richard and Lizzie Swan Girdner. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Old Concord Baptist Church.

Survivors include nephews Smith Girdner of Wolfe City, Bobby Girdner of Greenville, Haward Girdner of Houston, Alfred McGuire of Dallas and Dick McGuire of Amarillo and nieces Evelyn Mulkey of Celeste, Mary Callen of Cumby and Catherine Petty of Cumby.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Pallbearers will be Billy Strawn, Anthony Mulkey, David Mulkey, Dane Petty, Greg Robinson and Carl Massey.

Lola Mae Jenkins

Lola Mae Stovall Jenkins, 91, of Greenville, died Wednesday at Greenville Health and Rehab Center. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shady Grove Cemetery. Rev. Thomas Barnes will officiate.

She was born Feb. 5, 1907 in Point to Walter E. Stovall and Annie Humphrey Stovall. She and Bunn Jenkins were married May 25, 1962 in Hunt County.

Mrs. Jenkins was a former saleslady for several Greenville stores and was retired manager of the snack bar at Greenville Junior High School.She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by several cousins.

Her husband preceded her in death on March 14, 1966.

Pallbearers will be Keith Bearden, Jimmy Dailey, Jerry Wood, Edgar Wood, John Paul Willabay and Richard Schroeder.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Walker

Robert Harding Walker, 67, of Lone Oak died Thursday at his residence. Funeral services are at 3 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Layman officiating. Burial is in Prairie Valley Cemetery.
