Byron Boozer

ATHENS, Texas - Byron Wayne Boozer, 57, of Athens died Saturday at East Texas Medical Center. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Athens with Dr. Kyle Henderson officiating. Burial is in Fair View Cemetery in Nacogdoches.

Mr. Boozer was born Sept. 22, 1941, in Nacogdoches; the son of Byron and Mildred McKinley Boozer. He married Janis Ross on June 1, 1968.

A former resident of Greenville and Nacogdoches, Mr. Boozer was the director of financial services at Trinity Valley Community College. He was a member of the Southwest Football Officials Association for 26 years and the First Baptist Church of Athens.

Surviving are his wife of Athens, son, Jeff Boozer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter, Krista Boozer of Mesquite; mother of Nacogdoches; and brother, Hyman Boozer of Nacogdoches.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1985.

Pallbearers are Milburn Chaney, Mike Peek, Dr. W.P. Drumgoole, Gene Molloy, Brett Daniel and James Quattlebaum. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Vance Gipson and Dr. Eric Steger.

Visitation is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens., which is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Athens or to Trinity Valley Community College in Athens.

Luellen Montgomery

CADDO MILLS - Luellen Hicks Montgomery, 96, of Caddo Mills. died Wednesday in Lake Point Medical Center. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Mrs. Montgomery was born July 3, 1902, in Nevada; the daugher of Sidney and Maltie Bane Hicks. She was a member of the Baptist church and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Caddo Mills.

Surviving are sons, Phil Montgomery of Caddo Mills and Weldon Montgomery of Watsonville, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Fay May Montgomery of Garland; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Elbert Montgomery and Sidney Montgomery.

Pallbearers are George Holt, Weldon Holt, J.B. Long and David Newman.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Rentfrow Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Vera Brumit

LONE OAK - Vera D. Brumit, 76, of Lone Oak died Thursday at Baylor Hospital. Services are at 2 p.m. today in the Lone Oak Assembly of God Church with Rev. O.J. Andrews officiating. Burial is in Hooker Cemetery.

The daughter of James Lewis Hogue and Fannie Clementine, she was born Aug. 10, 1922 in Van Zandt County. She married Joe Weldon Brumit on June 5, 1944 in Emory.

Mrs. Brumit was a member of the Lone Oak Assembly of God Church and had lived in the community most of her life. She was a retired laundromat manager and child care provider.

Surviving are her husband; a son, Garland R. Brumit of Greenville; daughters Peggy Jo Robinson of Lone Oak and Vera Dianna Waters of Houston; brothers Robert Hogue of Arkansas and Romie Hogue of Lone Oak; a sister, Opal Jones of Lone Oak; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margie Lou Lemons in 1966; a brother, J.L. Hogue and sister, Mary Shaw.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Bartley Funeral Home of Lone Oak is in charge of arrangements.

Adell Henderson

FAIRFIELD - Adell Henderson, 70, of Point died at her residence Thursday. Funeral Services were at Capps Memorial Chapel in Fairfield at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery.

She was born July 12, 1928 in Fairfield.

Surviving are daughters Bonnie Sims and Shirley Hackworth, both of Flats, Charlene Scraff of Grand Prairie and Ann Tipton of Quinlan; three sons, Larry Hackworth of Flats, Leon Hackworth of Box Springs and Woodrow Hackworth of Kaufman; brothers Lewis E. Traylor of Winnsboro and Maurice Traylor of Idaho; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henderson, and one son, Johnny Hackworth.

Sons and grandsons served as pallbearers.

Eva Holmes

FARMERSVILLE - Eva Jewel Holmes, 89, of Dallas, died Friday. Funeral services will be at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel in Farmersville at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Farmersville.

Daughter of James and Mollie M. Gill Russell, she was born in Nevada on April 26, 1909. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Hawkins of Richardson and a brother, James Russell of Cleburne.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Kelley Lindley

FARMINGTON, N.M. - Kelley Deweese "K.D." Lindley, 80, of Farmington, N.M. died Wednesday at his home. Visitation will be at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, prior to a graveside service.

He was born Nov. 9, 1918 in Commerce.

He is survived by a daughter, Deedie Kay Strack of El Paso; a sister, Dorothy Irl Moore of Garland and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Lindley.

Cope Memorial Funeral Home of Farmington, N.M. is in charge of arrangements. Pemberton Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of local arrangements.

Carolyn McBride

POINT - Carolyn McBride of Point died Thursday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Woosley Baptist Church with Billy Smith, Jimmy Rose and David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Lonestar Cemetery.

Daughter of Harry L. and Lois Rudisal Mullinax, she was born May 27, 1932 in Spartanburg, S.C. She was married to Jimmie H. McBride on Oct. 1, 1955. She worked for MCI. Mrs. McBride was a Baptist and was a member of Women's Missionary Union with Woosley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of Point; a son, Danny McBride of San Antonio; two daughters, Kathy Owen of Dallas and Wanda Sancillo of Waco; brothers Billy R. Mullinax and Bobby Mullinax, both of South Carolina; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Sprouse and Mary Scales.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Armstrong, Johnny Paul Oler, Danny Fenter, Dwayne Wells, Frankie Shelton and Kenneth Hays.

Point Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Vernon Morgan

WOLFE CITY - Vernon Wade Morgan, 83, formerly of Ladonia died Thursday at Baylor Medical Hospital in Garland. There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. today at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Rev. Jerry Clements officiating.

He was born June 11, 1915 in Wolfe City. Mr. Morgan was a farmer and lived most of his life in Hunt County. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the South Pacific.

Survivors include two brothers, Norris B. Morgan and wife, Roxie, and Hoyt B. Morgan and wife, Dorothy, all of Garland; one sister, Pansy Pare of Garland and two nephews, Bill H. Jones and wife, Billie of Garland and James Douglas Morgan and wife, Melanie, of Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nate M. Morgan and Allie Lee Mitchell Morgan; two brothers, Herman George Morgan of Ladonia and Boyd Ray Morgan of Dodd City; one sister, Veta Jones of Garland; one sister-in-law, Bea Phillips Morgan of Dodd City and two brothers-in-law, Howard P. Jones and Lendon L. Pare of Garland.

Pallbearers will be Norris B. Morgan, Hoyt B. Morgan, Bill H. Jones, James Douglas Morgan, Bill H. Jones Jr., Mark Tucker and Tim Goforth.

R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City is in charge of arrangements.

Lizzie Tardy

Lizzie Belle Tardy, 95, of Campbell died Thursday in Paris. Funeral services are at 1 a.m. today at Edgewood Church of Christ with Doug Carter and David Gibson officiating. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. in Grove Hill Memorial Park 6212 Samuel Blvd., Dallas.

Born in Rosebud on May 10, 1903, she was the daughter of Andrew Thomas Powell and Sara Emma Cunningham. She married Abner S. Tardy on Nov. 3, 1923 in Travis.

She moved to Commerce in 1994 from Edgewood. Mrs. Tardy was a seamstress and was formerly employed by the Army's Eighth Service Command as floor supervisor. She also worked for "Page Boy" clothing line for ten years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Edgewood.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barba and Sam McCord of Campbell; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 14, 1994; a son, Abner Elton Tardy; nine brothers, three sisters and one daughter-in-law, Mary Hinton Tardy.

Pemberton Funeral Home of Commerce is in charge of arrangements.

Lessie Teague

SWEETWATER - Lessie Teague, 80, of Sweetwater, formerly of Greenville, died Friday in Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home in Sweetwater with Rev. Cecil Deadman officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.

She was born June 27, 1918 in Corinth, Miss. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Surviving are a son, Robert F. Teague of Sweetwater; a daughter, Dolores Allen of Sweetwater; two sisters, Mary Henderson and Anna Lee Anderson, both of Dallas; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin F. Teague, on Dec. 7, 1980; one grandson, David Teague, in 1959 and one granddaughter, Sue Ann Prince, in 1979.

Pallbearers will be Harold Apple, James Ware, Patrick Ware, Dudley Ware, Dwight Allen and Andy Brannan. Sonny Teague will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Vera Brumit

LONE OAK - Vera D. Brumit, 76, of Lone Oak died Thursday at Baylor Hospital. Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lone Oak Assembly of God Church with Rev. O.J. Andrews officiating. Burial is in Hooker Cemetery.

Melissa Germany

Melissa Germany of Dallas died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home Chapel with John Ellis and Roy Price officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.

She was born in Gilmer on March 13, 1911. She married Wade Germany in Collins County and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Germany was a member of Prince Chapel Methodist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Willie Thomas, Tommy Lee Germany, Joe Mack Germany and Robert Lee Germany, all of Dallas; a daughter, Jenny Lee Germany of Dallas; a sister, Lucy Hayes of McKinney; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters and three brothers.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Cephus Jones

Cephus M. Jones of Garland died Monday in a Dallas hospital. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Elem Baptist Church in Greenville with Rev. William McDonald officiating. Burial is in Grundy Memorial Park.

The son of Nooty and Mary Carbin Jones, he was born March 28, 1910 in Como. He married Lillie Sims in 1934 in Denison. Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Mount Calvary Church of God In Christ.

Surviving are a son, Charles Jones of Garland; two stepsons, Walter Moore of Wichita, Kan. and Eld Harold Moore of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Mary Helen Anderson of Garland; a stepdaughter, Helen Holms of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Esterlene Tarver and Frankie Mae Anderson, both of Greenville and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers are Curtis Wilder, Kevin McDonald, Curtis Anderson, Manuel Anderson, Thomas Anderson and William Tarver.

Cozine & Tarver Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Liggins

CAMPBELL - Billy Joe Liggins, 69, a Campbell native, died Jan. 8 in Odessa. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at True Vine Baptist Church. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery.

Mr. Liggins is survived by a sister, Annie Mae Gamble of Dallas.

Thrash Funeral Home of Dallas is in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia Norris

Virginia Louise Norris, 59, of Greenville died Tuesday at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Smith officiating. Burial is in Wieland Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 18, 1939 in Hunt County to Marcus McMahan and Margaret Frazier. She and Dale E. Norris were married July 18, 1958 in Quinlan. Mrs. Norris was a secretary, retiring from Raytheon.

Surviving are her husband of Greenville; her father of Caddo Mills; two sons, Jeff Norris of Commerce and David Norris of Garland; a daughter, Kristi Saenz of Greenville; a brother, Howard McMahan of Granger, Ind.; three sisters, Linda Evans of Greenville, Gayle Bunton of Commerce and Vera Jean Harwell of Caddo Mills; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother and a sister, Rachel McMahan.

Pallbearers are Michael Bunton, Aaron Bunton, Joel Harwell, Johnny Norris, Mark Norris and Richard Saunders.
