Joe Wade

FARMERSVILLE - Joe B. Wade, 67, of Farmersville died Friday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Fielder-Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Johnny Jackson officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Rosemound Cemetery, Commerce.

He was born March 4, 1932, in Tupelo, Miss. to J.B. Wade and Annie Buckelew Wade. On Sept. 13, 1959 he married Peggy Parker in Dallas. He was owner of Joe Wade Contracting Co., Inc. in Dallas for 39 years. Mr. Wade was a Mason.

He is survived by his wife of Farmersville; two daughters, Patricia Wade of Lancaster and Debbie Wade of Red Oak; a sister, Charlene Jackson of Little Rock, Ark. and a brother, Carl Wade of Lucedale, Miss.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Hugh Chapman

LONE OAK - Funeral services for Hugh "Dick" Chapman of Lone Oak are at 1 p.m. today at Assembly of God Church with Rev. O.J. Andrews and Rev. Robert Cook officiating. Burial is in Lone Oak Cemetery. He died Tuesday at the Veterans Hospital in Bonham.

The son of W.E. and Odar Hill Chapman, he was born May 5, 1914 in Rains County. He married Birtie Jackson in 1969.

Mr. Chapman served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a carpenter in construction. He was a member of One Oak Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of Lone Oak; a son, Jerry Chapman of Harleton; four sisters, Margie Flowers, Imogene Mahan and Edna Mahall, all of Lone Oak and Johnnie Pickle of Newsom; two brothers, Tommy Chapman of Nederland and Charlie Chapman of Austin; several nieces and nephews and several grandchildren.

Family members are pallbearers.

Bartley Funeral Home of Lone Oak is in charge of arrangements.

John Givens

SULPHUR SPRINGS - John Givens, 65, of Lone Oak died Sunday at Medical Center of Mesquite. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Gilead Baptist Church. Burial is in Rabb Cemetery in Lone Oak.

He was born Nov. 4, 1933 in Point to John Wesley Givens and Savanah Williams Givens. He served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Givens was a construction worker and he was a member of Richland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents; six sons, John M. Givens Jr., Ronnie Givens, Richard Givens, Melroy Givens and Rodney Givens all of Sulphur Springs and Kelvin Givens of Dallas; four daughters, Cathy Williams of Sulphur Springs and Juanita Goodson, Sandra Lindley and Elaine Givens of Dallas; two brothers, Charles Givens of Lone Oak and Vernelle Givens of Ft. Worth; two sisters, Linda Johnson and Glenda Garrette, both of Ft. Worth and 20 grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

Pallbearers are David Crow, Larry Givens, Nelson Turner, Jerry Fry, Walter Crow and Mark Covan. Mark Turney, Jermaine Givens, Jerome Givens, Jason Givens, William Johnson and Derrick Givens are honorary pallbearers.

White Funeral Home of Sulphur Springs is in charge of arrangements.

Margie Holmes

Margie Estelle Holmes, 77, of Garland, formerly of Greenville, died at her residence Wednesday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Joe Neill Clayton officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Daughter of Clarence Motes and Carrie Cornelius Motes, she was born Nov. 23, 1921 in Wood County. On Sept. 21, 1940 she married James Travis Holmes in Emory. Mrs. Holmes worked as a sales clerk. She was a member of Park Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, Bobby Dennis Holmes of Garland; a daughter-in-law, Linda Holmes of Greenville and a grandson, Phillip Holmes of Greenville.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1976.

Cleveland Hooe

Cleveland Dennis Hooe, 68, of Wolfe City died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with Kevin Mitchell officiating. Burial is in Wardville (Okla.) Cemetery.

Mr. Hooe was born Dec. 2, 1930, in Wardville; the son of Robert Earl and Sarah Dennis Hooe. He married Joyce Stiles on June 27, 1953, in Kiowa, Okla.

Mr. Hooe was retired from Raytheon and a rancher. He was an organizer of the Wolfe City Riding Club and was a member of the Wolfe City Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are his wife of Wolfe City; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Sharon Hooe of Wolfe City; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cleva and Rex Giddens of Commerce and Nancy and Larry Eastwood of Greenville; two brothers, R.E. Hooe of Kiowa and Paul Hooe of Colgate, Okla.; and six sisters, Margaret Daniels of Wolfe City, Elizabeth Carr of Fort Worth, Eva Carr of Hurst, Ruby Williams and Mary Hooe, both of Wardville, and Jean Loftin of Bartlesville, Okla.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the R.W Owens & Son Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.

Jeanette Moore

Funeral services for Jeanette Moore, 68, of Greenville are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Moore and Rev. Kenneth Ballard officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

She died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

Born in Apple Springs on May 10, 1930, she was the daughter of Harvey Ellis Green and Jessie Faye McDonald Green. She married Daulton L. Moore on Dec. 10, 1947 in Greenville.

She was an architect with Custom House Designs and was a former secretary for the House of Prayer Church where she was a member.

She is survived by her husband of Greenville and a sister, Sue Nalls of Greenville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son on Jan. 16, 1958.

Pallbearers are Gene Moore, Marlin Jones, Verdane Nalls, Derek Nalls, Larry Ferguson and Randy Moore. Horace Webb and Melvin Lindsey are honorary pallbearers.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Andrew Neal

Andrew Neal, 40, of Greenville died at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at True Vine Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Price officiating. Burial is in East Mount Cemetery.

Born Aug. 10, 1958 in Greenville, he was the son of William and Clarice Roland Neal. He and Annette Linwood were married in Greenville.

Mr. Neal was a construction worker. He was a member of True Vine Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of Houston; a stepdaughter, Tarsha McDaniels of Houston; three brothers, William H. Neal Jr., Walter Lee Neal and Tony Cole, all of Greenville; two sisters, Willene Williams and Maerece Talley of Greenville and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Friends of the family are pallbearers.

Eunice Thomas

DALLAS - Eunice Marie Thomas died Wednesday in Greenville. Funeral services are at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas.

She was born Aug. 14, 1929 in Lovelady. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Greenville and the John L. Degrazier Lodge 886 of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are three children, Larry Thomas, Debra Romero and Nolan Thomas; sisters Cecil Workman and Margaret Stringer; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, Gene Thomas, in 1997 and a son, Tommy, in 1948.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas.

Barbara Young

LEONARD - Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara J. Young, 59, of Leonard, formerly of Rome, Ga., are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Gould officiating. Burial is in Leonard Cemetery. She died Wednesday at her residence.

Born July 23, 1939 in Dayton, Tenn., she was the daughter of Eural Presley Logan and Vesta Harwell Logan. She married Normal Virgil Young on Dec. 20, 1961 in Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. Young worked as a bookkeeper. She was a Baptist.

She is survived by her husband of Leonard; daughter Dee Potts of McKinney; a son, William C. Young of Dallas; a sister, Joyce Hadle of Ottowa, Kan.; brother Al Logan of Quenemo, Kan. and three grandchildren.

Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Bishop

COOPER - Dorothy Bishop of Sulphur Springs died Tuesday night at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville. Funeral services are at 4 p.m. today at the New Life Baptist Church with Terry Bryan, Larry Jordan and Larry Maynard officiating. Burial is in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Born in Louisiana on Oct. 15, 1930, she was the daughter of J.T. and Nora Smith. She lived in Dallas most of her life and was employed in food service.

Surviving are sons Larry Maynard of Sulphur Springs, Ricky McCarty of Cooper and Micheal McCarty of Plano; daughters Peggy Dunavin of Cooper and Linda Tawater of Greenville; a brother, Ed Smith of Cooper; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Smith.

Delta Funeral Home of Cooper is in charge of arrangements.

Hugh Chapman

Hattie Rivers

EMORY - Hattie Northcut Rivers, 76, of Point died Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel in Emory with Jerry Jackson, Terry Jackson and Richard Kellam officiating.

She was born Dec. 26, 1922 in Dallas to Cleo Jackson and Ruby Grace Robinson. In 1941 she married Delmar Northcut in Greenville; he preceded her in death in 1984. She married Chester M. Rivers in 1996 in Point.

Mrs. Rivers was a member of the Church of Christ and she was a homemaker. She was a member of Women's Service Club and Rains Art League.

Surviving are her husband of Point; a son, Michael L. Northcut of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Debbie Ricketts of Emory and Linda Snell of Emory; a brother, Marshall Jackson of Hamlin; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Anita Copeland, in May 1993.

Pallbearers are Wayne Luckett, Ronnie Luckett, Cleo Holt, Bill Williams, Charles Allen and Glenn Morrow. Ronnie Snell and Dave Ricketts are honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

J.P. Bowen Jr.

Funeral services for J.P. "Jake" Bowen Jr., 75 of Greenville are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James C. Nance officiating. Burial is in Brigham Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville.

The son of Jesse Bowen and Henrietta Cannon Bowen, he was born Nov. 23, 1923 in Campbell. He married Cloyce Bellamey on July 3, 1951 in Durant, Okla. He was a Corporal in the U.S. Marines during World War II.

Mr. Bowen was a fireman for the City of Greenville for 18 years and owned and operated General Tower for 25 years. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by a daughter, Paula Simpson of Greenville; a brother, Ross Bowen of Campbell; two grandchildren, Steven McCormack of Paris and Nancy Breeden of Euless; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; three infant children; one brother, Charles Mendel Bowen and two sisters, Vernell Alexander and Doris English.

Pallbearers are Bill Barnett, Buddy Swearingin, Raymond Breeden, Brad McCormack, Mike Breeden and Junior Reep. Avon Patterson is an honorary pallbearer.

Memorials may be made to the Hunt County Humane Society, 4000 Spencer, Greenville, 75401.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Debra Measles

COMMERCE - Debra E. Measles, 44, of Commerce died Saturday. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Jones-Walker & Son Funeral Home of Commerce with Rev. Mike House officiating. Burial is in Shady Grove Cemetery inCampbell.

Mrs. Measles was born Aug. 12, 1954 in Rusk to J.W. Helm and Margaret Beasley. She was a housewife.

Surviving are her mother, Margaret Click of Rusk, her father of Lufkin; sons John A. Hayes and Rickey E. Hayes, both of Tyler; ; a daughter, Dee Dee Logan of Pikeville, N.C.; brothers Jimmy Helm of Houston, Tommy Helm of Georgia, Jacky Helm of Dallas and Jerry Helm of Dallas; a sister, Mary Sims of Gilmer; seven grandchildren and several aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers are John A. Hayes, Ricky E. Hayes, James D. Measles, Jacky Helm, Jerry Helm and Jimmy Helm.

Wilma Wallace

Wilma Jo Wallace, 82, of Garland died Monday at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Berryman officiating. Burial is in Memoryland Memorial Park.

Born in the Meadowview community in Hunt County on June 25, 1916, she was the daughter of Johnnie Robert Barker and Ethel Mae Stapp Barker. On June 6, 1948 she married Jack C. Wallace in Hunt County. She worked for Trinity Universal Insurance Company, retiring after 40 years.

Mrs. Wallace was a member of White Rock United Methodist Church, Daughters of the Nile and Beta Sigma Phi.

Surviving are her husband of Garland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Johnnie and Ruth Barker of Greenville and Rufus J. and Carolyn Barker of Levelland; a sister, Juanita Green of Weatherford; sister and brother-in-law Julia Rhea and Herschel Roberts of Levelland; brother-in-law Lawrence Wallace of Tyler; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Pallbearers are Jim Melton, Jim Alford, Gene Straach, Ted Cornealus, J.R. Roberts and Ronny Hampton.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
