Hector Chavez, 37, passed away on August 9, 2003. He is survived by his mother, Emma Reyes, brothers, Cruz and Richard Chavez, sisters, Alicia C. Villasenor, Grace Macias, Cecilia Villa Gomez, Cynthia Villarreal, Irma Chavez, Irene Chavez and Esther Chavez. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with praying of the Rosary at 11:00 AM. Funeral Mass will be on Friday at St. Ignatius Church at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow Mass at Memorial Pines Cemetery. Hector will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives he touched. Joyce Barbara Julian, 71, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2003. She was a long time resident of El Paso and the owner of Julian's Grooming Parlor for many years. She has been cremated and the intermenty will take place Saturday, August 16, 2003 9:00 AM at the Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Ln., Sunland Park, New Mexico. On Monday, August 11, 2003, MARIA FELIZA PEREZ, 82, went to join her children, Anna, Rachel, and Peter, in heaven. She was a lifelong resident of San Elizario and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs . Perez is survived by her husband, Rafael Ambrosio Perez. Children, Rafa, Abby, Kiko, Carmen, Terry, Fernie, Joe Ray, Robert, Eddie, Hector, Victor and Little Peter. 22 Grandchildren. 15 Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Minnie Queen lived in El Paso most of her life. She moved to Dallas 2 years ago due to a failing health where she died Saturday Aug. 9, 2003. She worked with the City Wide Mission Charity Club, Church Women United, AARP. She was a member of the Heroines of Jerico Magnolia Court 28, to include some of her other activities here in the city. She was a member of Visitor Chapel A.M.E. Church. She leaves to mourn her family in Dallas,TX & a host of friends here in El Paso. The Burial will be at 11:00 AM Friday, August 15, 2003, morning at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.

Enriqueta Carbajal Sanchez, longtime resident of El Paso, entered into eternal rest July 18, 2003 in Mexico City, DF. Mrs. Sanchez was preceded in death by her husband, Elias R. Sanchez, parents, Jose Maria and Concepcion Carbajal; sisters, Josefina Chavez, Trinidad Solis, Carolina Lara and brother Jose Maria Carbajal. She is survived by two daughters, Nannette Glancey and husband Richard of San Antonio and Dolores J. Wright of Mexico City; five grandchildren, Joseph, Jaime and Rene Dominguez; Gabriela Culpepper, Juanpablo Wright and their father David Wright of Arlington; and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors include much loved nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, August 15, 2003 at eleven o'clock. Gravesite services and intermenty will follow at Evergreen Cemetery on Alameda.

COL. FRANK CARL SCHOEN, (retired Army) 78, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2003. He was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church. Preceded in death by his parents Kathryn and Carl Schoen; Mr. Schoen is survived by his wife of 57 years Annalee Schoen; sons, Carl Patrick Schoen, James Melvin Schoen, Michael Arthur Schoen and John Stephen Schoen; and daughter Cynthia Ann Keck. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2003 at St. Raphael Catholic Church at 3:00 p.m. Burial is private.

For Our Beloved Mother, Rose A. Tarin, R.N., B.S.N. You are the most beautiful, strongest Rose that God, in his infinite grace, ever created. Always first and foremost in your life is your family, who you educated and guided in all that is good in this world. As your children, your pride and joy, we will do everything in our power to live up to your expectations. Your lifelong reverence for Dear God and Dear Jesus we all hold dearly forever. Rose A. Tarin dedicated her life towards helping others. She graduated from Bowie High School and began her Nursing education at Hotel Dieu School of Nursing with the Sisters of Charity. She became an R.N. and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hotel Dieu, eventually becoming President of the Hotel Dieu Alumni Association. She also practiced as an R.N. in the private office of Drs. Boehler, Knaut, Demarest, and Gunter, and then at Southwestern Hospital, in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Next, she was employed as an R.N. at Newark Methodist Hospital, where she was a Director of Nursing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, at the same time, completing her B.S.N. in Nursing. Later, she worked as an R.N., B.S.N. at Sun Towers, which later became Columbia West, and then became Las Palmas, in the Oncology Department. Among her many and varied accomplishments, she traveled to Russia and presented a formal paper, as well as completing an intensive study of the health care system. She trained and inspired a vast array of medical professionals throughout her dedication, commitment, and example in the field. Countless people have benefited in her knowledge; she cared very deeply and truly for her patients. Florence Nightengale was an important inspiration to her. She spent many hours as an American Cancer Society volunteer and received numerous awards in her professional career. Her children are: Daniel Joseph Tarin Jr. (daughter-in-law Maria Cruz Tarin), ___(removed)________________, and David Erich. Her grandchildren are: Ivette Gonzalez, Joshua Michael Tarin, Benjamin David Tarin, Heather Ashley Vasquez, Ashlie Rose Sandoval, and Daniel Moses Tarin. Her brother is Raul Aguilar and her sister is Belia Acuna. Visitation will be on Friday, August 15th, between 4 and 9 p.m. (Rosary at 7 p.m.) at Martin Home, 3839 Montana. On Saturday, August 16th, at 7:30 a.m., procession will meet at Martin Home for Mass that will take place at St. Ignatius at 8:30 a.m.; Site Ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m. at Mount Carmel. Charles Preston Britton, 92, born in Fairfield, Indiana, March 12, 1911, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2003 in Artesia, New Mexico. He was a former resident of El Paso for 50 years. He was a veteran of the Army serving in WWII and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene - Artesia, NM and lifelong member of the Carpenter's Union. Charles is survived by his wife, Nellie Jo Britton; 2 sons, Millard Britton and wife, Janie of Pierce City, MO and W. Slim Britton of Picacho, NM; daughters, Mary Ann Gould and husband, Roy of Meridian, Idaho and Joy MacKinnon and husband, Steve of Artesia, NM; 1 sister, Doris McCrory of Florida. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 11th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home. Arturo Gutierrez Garcia, 53, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2003. He was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico and was a long time resident of El Paso, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army and is a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and received the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal W/60 DEV; Combat Infantry Badge; Purple Heart W/1 OLC; Bronze Star Medal, among other medals. Mr. Garcia is survived by his wife; Virginia B. Garcia, son; Daniel Arturo Garcia, daughters; Terry Ross and Diane Garcia, mother; Carmen Gutierrez Garcia, 2 grandchildren, brother; Isidoro Garcia Jr., and sisters; Romelia Benavidez, Elena Montoya, Anette Garcia and Ernestina Franco. Visitation for Mr. Garcia will be Thursday from 5 pm to 9 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-N.E. located at 4631 Hondo Pass. Vigil will also be on Thursday at 7 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. WALLACE E. HARDGROVE SR., 67, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2003. He was born in Blaine, Maine and was a long time resident of El Paso where he retired after a distinguished military career. He was preceded in death by his loving son, Robert Benjamin Hardgrove. He is survived by his loving wife Edwina O. Hardgrove and his son Wallace Hardgrove Jr. He will be truly missed and remembered always by his grandchildren, Joshua, Nichole, and Jennifer. He proudly served his country over 23 years and received numerous awards some of which included the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Air Medals and Aircraft Crewman Badge. His guiding words, wisdom, friendship and compassion will be deeply missed by all those who his spirit touched. He was a pillar of strength even through the difficult times. A special thanks to all of the kind and gentle staff at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5 pm until 9 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-N.E. located at 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas. Prayer service will be on Thursday at 7 pm at the Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. John Bridges Miller, 80, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2003 in Lewisville, TX. Born March 4, 1923 in El Paso, he graduated from Austin High School in 1940. He attended the University of Texas at Austin until October 1942 when he joined the US Army Air Corp. In February 1944, he was commissioned 2nd Lt. and married Anne Marie Kelley. A decorated veteran of WWII, he served as a fighter pilot with General Chenault's Flying Tigers 14th Air Force in China where he was awarded 2 Distinguished Flying Crosses. He completed his studies at UT Austin receiving a Bachelor of Science. He attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he received his Doctorate of Medicine in June 1954. He interned for one year at Wm Beaumont Hospital before entering private practice in El Paso for 35 years. He was recognized as Father of the Year in 1956 by the El Paso Times. He is survived by Anne Kelley Miller, daughters Beverly Schopmeyer, Patricia Steinmann, Julie Varela, Dr. Sally Fife, Rebecca Miller, son Chief Petty Officer John B. Miller Jr.and 12 grandchildren. Also survived by his brother Laymon Newsom Miller of Ft. Myers, FL. and cousin Dr. Elizabeth Miller of Bryan, TX. Services and internment will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 12th at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.

NELLIE OLIVAS, 54, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2003. She is preceded in death by Jose D. Quezada and Amelia Vega Quezada. She is survived by Enrique Olivas Sr., daughters Diana and Debbie Olivas; sons Henry and Michael Olivas; sisters Rosemary Federico, Emma Ontiveros, Magdalena Mercado, and Gloria Worlow; brothers Eduardo and Johhny Quezada; and 13 grandchildren. Services will be from 5-9 PM on Friday, Dec. 12, 2003 at Sunset Funeral Home-East with the recital of the Rosary at 5 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11 AM Saturday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 Clark. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. MR. DAVID A. PANSKE, 76, passed away peacefully at home, Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in Chaparral, New Mexico. Mr. Panske served in the 1st Marines, 2nd Battalion, D Company and participated in the Inchon landing in Korea. He was wounded in combat November, 1952 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the DAV in Chaparral, New Mexico. Mr. Panske became a Civil Service employee in 1974 with 17 years of service. He retired December, 1992 to pursue another career in Naturopathy and Massage Therapy. Mr. Panske was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his devoted wife Emma Medlock Panske. Stepson, Chuck Youngjohn and wife Linda. Sister-in-law, Redgie Medlock of El Paso. David will be greatly missed and mourned by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made in his name to the Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 East Montana, Las Cruces, New Mexico, 88005. Antonia Rodriguez Pineda, 86, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on Monday December 08, 2003 and joins her husband and six children at the feet of our Lord. She was born in Plateros, Zacatecas on July 24, 1917 and raised her children in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. She is survived by her sons Herminio and wife Romelia; Aurelio and wife Carmen; Angel and wife Rosalba; Nicolas and wife Rosa Maria; Antonio and wife Lourdes; daughters Maria Luisa and husband Jorge; and A. Leticia and husband Jesus. Other survivors include her brothers Rafael and wife Angela, Sotero and his wife Eugenia; sister Victoria; 32 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday December 11, 2003 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church. Mass will be held Friday December 12, 2003 at 12:00noon at San Felipe de Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are directed by Mt. Carmel Funeral Home.

FRANCINE A. RAILEANU, 76, a resident of El Paso since 1961, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003. She was a member of Temple Mt. Sinai, life member of Hadassah, life member of B'Nai Brith Women, and life member of Women of Reform Judaism. She was a retired teacher from E.P.I.S.D. Survivors include daughters, Haidi Beth (Jerry) Appel of El Paso, Ziporah (Ed) Hofland of Israel, Sons, Steven A. (Jeanette) Raileanu of VA, Gary R. (Nancy) Raileanu of IL, and Michael S. (Lorie) Raileanu of TX; and 16 grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Temple Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Rabbi Larry Bach officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah, 222 Shadow Mt. #21, El Paso, TX 79912.

Mary Lou Foulsham of Ventura, CA., passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, after a three-week illness. She was 87. She was born Mary Leuvenia McLaughlin Nov. 5, 1916, in Trenton, NJ. Her family moved to Allentown, PA., when she was 14. She attended Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, and nursing school in Philadelphia, PA. She met Robert Edward Foulsham in Bethlehem and they were married Aug. 14, 1939, at the Episcopal Cathedral Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. After living in Buffalo, NY they moved to El Paso, TX, in 1947. Their two children, Mary Leu and George, were born in El Paso. The Foulshams lived in El Paso for almost 50 years. They were active members of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary, the Foulshams moved to CA. After living in Long Beach, CA., for two years they moved to Ventura. Mrs. Foulsham's husband, Robert, passed away July 17, 1997. Mrs. Foulsham is survived by a daughter, Mary Leu Pappas of Ventura; a son, George Foulsham, of Oxnard; two granddaughters, Jennifer Pappas Stehle and Catherine Michelle Pappas, both of Ventura; and a sister, Patricia Straup, of Shell Point Village, Fort Myers, FL. A memorial service will be held Saturday, at 9 a.m. at Bible Fellowship Church in Ventura. Her ashes will be placed next to those of her husband in the memorial garden of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oxnard, CA. The family requests no flowers. John Ludwig Hughes passed away Monday, December 8, 2003 at the age of 80. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. Preceded in death by his granddaughter Lindsey Gayle Hughes he is survived by his beloved wife, Mildred Sanders Hughes, sons John Ludwig Hughes, Jr. and Thomas Sanders Hughes, sisters Lauverene Dorsey and Glennis Giamfortone, grandchildren John L. Hughes III, Krysten Dianne Hughes and Danielle Marie Hughes. Funeral Service will be held Monday, December 15, 2003 at 12:00 P.M. at Martin Funeral Home West with Chaplain Sam Faraone officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors.

DANIEL MORALES, 39, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2003 in San Antonio, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Morales was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Elena Morales. He is survived by his son, Danny Morales, Jr. Father, Porfirio Morales. Brothers, Victor and Robert Morales. Sisters, Mary Lou Estrada and Belinda Morales. Visitation will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Vigil Service will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Avelino Contreras, Gerardo Villegas, Armando Diaz, Robert Morales, Rick Garcia and Agustin Arroyo. Benedicta Nieto, "Benita," 82, passed away Tuesday December 09, 2003. She is preceded in death by her husband Zacarias Nieto and son Henry Nieto. Mrs. Nieto is survived by her sons Erasmo E. Nieto, Raymond C. Nieto, Julio Z. Nieto, daughter Elizabeth Soto, and daughter-in-law Libby Nieto. Other survivors include her brother Jesus Vizcaino, sister Cruz Vizcaino, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Mrs. Nieto volunteered for fifteen years with the El Paso Boys Club. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Visitation will be held Friday December 12, 2003 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm with a vigil at 7:00pm at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be held Saturday December 13, 2003 at 9:00am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Freddy Hinojos, Kiki Robles, Christopher Nieto Jr., Michael Nieto, Chris Nieto, and Beto Estrada. On behalf of the Nieto Family, we want to thank the staff from Four Medical at Sierra Medical Center for their support and care. Funeral arrangements are directed by Mt. Carmel Funeral Home.

Hallie B. Self, former owner and manager of Self's Beauty Salon and the American Business Women's Association Woman of the Year in 1972, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001). She was 98 years old and a resident of El Paso for 70 years.
Survivors include her son, Bob Self; her daughter, Madelaine Blakley; her brother, Anson Butler; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Lee Self, and her son, Mark Self.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Northeast Chapel. A private graveside service will be conducted.

Betty Jo Dunbar, 61, of El Paso died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001). Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today in Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina. Graveside service will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Survivors include her husband, Vance; her sons, Bill Elberfeld, Carr Stalnaker, Daniel Stalnaker and John Stalnaker; his daughters, Carla Walker, Carol Stalnaker, Kaven Hart and Susan Wiles; her mother, Alice C. Littlejohn; two brothers; two sisters; and 12 grandchildren. She was a retired office manager and a lifelong resident of El Paso. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Clint, P.O. Box 325, Clint, TX 79836.

Timothy J. Hartmann, 58, of El Paso died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001). No services are planned. Survivors include his former wife, Jan Harmon, and his sisters, Donna Hulsey and Mima Pereira. He was a West Side justice of the peace and served in the U.S. Army. He was a 20-year resident of El Paso. Arrangements are by La Paz Funeral Home.

Conrado Rodriguez, 86, of El Paso died Friday (Feb. 16, 2001). No services are planned. Survivors include his wife, Sara; his sons, Oscar Rodriguez and Roy C. Rodriguez; four sisters and three grandchildren. He was a long-distance truck driver for 37 years and a lifelong El Paso resident. Arrangements by Hillcrest Funeral Home-West.

Gabriel M. Rosales, 79, of El Paso died Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001). A memorial Mass will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday in San Juan Catholic Church. Survivors include his son, Gabriel F. Rosales Jr.; his daughters, Matilde Pedregon and Teresa Gonzalez; one brother; three sisters; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was an upholstery laborer, a World War II veteran and a lifelong resident of El Paso. Arrangements by La Paz Funeral Home.

Lucille Perkins, 87, of Deming died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001). Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday in Baca's Funeral Chapel. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Survivors include her two sisters, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester Perkins, and her son, Gary Leon Perkins. She had managed the Montgomery Ward Catalog Store and had worked for the Deming Chamber of Commerce. She was a longtime resident of Deming.

Ned L. Greenhalgh, 66, of Animas, N.M., died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001). Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church in Lordsburg. Burial will be in Valley View Community Cemetery in Cotton City. Survivors include his wife, Lucretia; his son, Michael McCarley; his daughters, Dawn French, Bonnie Thomas, Cheryl Brown, Julie Blackhurst, Nancy "Sam" Bean and Teresa Nixon; 30 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol McClellen and Edna Greenhalgh, and his brother, Blanchard Greenhalgh Jr. He worked for the Utah and Colorado state road departments and was a longtime resident of Animas. Arrangements are by Lordsburg Funeral Home.

Roy C. Cox Jr., 76, of Ruidoso died Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001). Memorial service will be at 5 p.m. today at the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; his three sons; his three daughters, two step-daughters, Donna Lehna and Denise Lehna; one brother; and four grandchildren. He owned Cox Aircraft Maintenance and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Arrangements by LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
