Audrey D. Morris, 72, passed away November 21, 2001 at Providence Memorial. Mrs. Morris was born in Rockford, Illinois daughter of the late Arthur and Alberta Anderson. Her family moved to El Paso in 1942. She was a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso after only 3 years with a BA degree majoring in History & Education and obtaining a Permanent Texas Teaching Certificate for grades 1-12. She was a member of Chi Omega, Phi Alpha Theta, Alpha Chi & Kappa Delta Pi. She loved teaching and retired after 29 years where she taught at Lone Star, Cooley, Hillside (where in 1973 & 74 she was Hillside Teacher of the Year) and McArthur Jr. Hi. Mrs. Morris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved to read, do word puzzles and was an avid UTEP fan. She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jack D. Morris; sister Gloria and husband Russel Johnson of Elephant Butte, NM; 2 daughters - Linda and husband Patrick Smith of Colorado; Julie and husband Ed Czelusniak of Delaware. 4 grandchildren - Stephen Adele & wife Julia, Jeremiah Smith, Travis Czelusniak & Amber Czelusniak. Also 3 great grandchildren - Lane Darlene Adele, Shawn Czelusniak & Kailib Czelusniak; 4 nieces - Lani Lopez, Disa Campbell, Sancie Jordan, Nicky Clayton and 1 nephew - Nixon Morris III. A memorial service will be held, Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 1 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home West, Chapel of Peace located at 480 N. Resler. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home West.

ISABEL ARELLANO, 84, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2002. He was a long time resident of El Paso. Mr. Arellano is preceded in death by his wife, Alejandra. He is survived by his sons, Armando Arellano of San Gabriel, California; Felipe Arellano of Walnut, California; and Kenneth Arellano of El Paso, Texas. Daughters, Lidia McCullough of Fabens, Texas; Dora Parrett and Elizabeth Castillo both of El Paso, Texas; Irma Hernandez of Montebello, California; Betty Pruitt of Fairburn, Georgia. Brothers, Augustin Arellano and Juan Arellano of El Paso, Texas. Sisters, Trini Arellano and Ramona Arellano of El Paso, Texas; Guadalupe Lynge of Littleton, Colorado. 22 Grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. MAE DEAN ARES, passed away November 14, 2002 in El Paso. Born August 11, 1901 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma, Mae Dean, a member of the Episcopal Church, was an El Paso resident for 75 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin T. Ares, and grandson Michael D. Ares. She is survived by her son Kenneth G. Ares and his wife Martha of Seagrove, N.C., her daughter Angie (Ann) Rye and her husband Jack of El Paso, grandsons Dale Rye and wife Christine of Georgetown, TX, and Larry Rye of El Paso, and by her loving caregivers Sandra, Jesus, and Amanda de la Torre of El Paso. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002 at Restlawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Bill Francis will officiate. RICK CHAMBERS, 48, passed away on November 17, 2002. He was born in El Paso, where he joined the United States Army and served in Vietnam as a medic. He was a local Realtor by trade for Gil Stoltz and a musician by heart. All that knew him were inspired by him. Rick is survived by his wife of 26 years, Terry, his son, Erik, daughter-in-law, Ghalia, his mother Stella and his sister, Jeannie. As well as a large extended family and friends. His wonderful laugh will truly be missed. Special thanks to Dr.'s and Nursing Staff at the Providence ICU. Thanks to everyone for all their prayers and support. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 19, 2002 with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-West, Chapel of Remembrance. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. MIKE DIPP SR., 88, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002. He had been a lifetime resident of El Paso and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Counsel #638. He was a founder of several El Paso Businesses including Dipps Markets, Dipp & Co., H&R Wholesale, Economy Cash & Carry, Plaza Properties, M.D. Farms, Rio Foods and Coldway Storage. He served on the Board of Directors of American Finance and Investment Company. He is survived by his wife, Mary H. Dipp. He was preceded in death by his son Lee Ronald Dipp. He is survived by five children, Michael J. Dipp Jr., and his wife Mary Ann, George R. Dipp and his wife Cristina, Rosalie Ann Dipp Zoghby and husband Raymond of Mobile, Alabama, Mary Jeanne Dipp and Paul Dipp and his wife Suzanne. He has nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He has two sister-in-laws, Victoria Hamrah and Rosalie Hamrah. He has one brother, Jorge Dipp Murad and one sister, Aurora Dipp Murad from Guadalajara, Mexico. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday November 19, 2002 with Rosary at 7 p.m. both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 118 N. Campbell. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will be at Evergreen Alameda Cemetery. MRS. MAURICIA "Licha" DOMINGUEZ, 97, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2002. Lifelong resident of El Paso. Member of All Saints Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Antonio "Tony" Dominguez and her son-in-law Juan Martin Silva. She is survived by her children and spouses. Peter Diaz Dulay, Jr., a member of the "greatest generation", passed away November 17th at a local hospital. Peter was born in Corregidor, PI, on February 6th, 1915. He served in the Philipine Army during the Japanese occupation of the Philipines. He also served in the United States Army for 27 years and saw action in WWII, Korea, and Viet Nam. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Dulay, "his Sweetie", two sisters, Aurora Puzan and sister Consuelo Dulay, six children, Consuelo Hyman, Dr. Heidi Dulay, Peter D. Dulay III, Marcel Dulay, Michelle Mobbs, and Benjamin Dulay. He has two stepdaughters, Beverly Wade and Tresa Tyler. He also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved ballroom dancing, and danced at the Shundo Studio Showcase on November 10th, 2002. He and his wife, Blanche, met at the dance studio in 1981, and have loved dancing together for twenty wonderful years. He especially loved dancing with his "Sweetie". Peter was a very special man and his kindness and goodness will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Thank you, Peter, for the blessing of having you in our lives. Vaya con Dios. MARIA V. FLORES, 91, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2002. Longtime resident of El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Flores was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and was a member of the Ladies Auxillary-Tigua Post #8782. She retired after many years of nursing at Johnstone Clinic in Ysleta. Preceded in death by her husband Salvador M. Flores. Survived by her son Robert Flores, grandchildren Krystyne Farley and her husband, Dow. Lorraine Flores, Robert Flores Jr., Sal Flores and Katya Flores. Mrs. Flores will lie in state on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. Ladies Auxiliary Service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Martin Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Burial at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friday, November 15, 2002 JOHN HAWLEY was born in El Paso on October 8, 1913, second son of Abraham Lincoln Hawley and Florence Farr Hawley, and graduated from El Paso High School. He played football for the College of Mines and was in the Sun Bowl game one season. He also wrestled for UT Austin. He graduated in the same law class as John Connally and practiced law in El Paso both before and after World War II. John received his midshipman training at Abbott Hall Naval Midshipmen's School in Chicago and was assigned to LST duty, eventually participating in the landing at Leyte Gulf. After the war he was appointed to fill a judgeship in El Paso. He later moved to Montclair, New Jersey with his wife Barbara and son John and daughter Cassie to work in his brother's sandblasting business. He finished up his career in the Internal Revenue Service as an Estate and Gift Tax Examiner. He was an avid golfer and a local church member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist holding many local church positions including First Reader in the Christian Science Church in El Paso. He is survived by his son, John Farr Hawley, Jr., of Santa Clara, California and his daughter, Katharine Hawley Schneider of Northridge, California and 5 grandchildren.

CHRISTINE SARABIA MEDINA, born July 24, 1923 passed away Saturday, November 16, 2002 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennette Scoggins. Mrs. Medina is survived by her daughters, Linda Turner of El Paso, Alma Noble of Shaurita, AZ, and Dorothy Hurtado of El Paso, sons Horace William Fielden of El Paso, and Howard Dale Fielden of Peru. Also survived by her brothers, Jose, Faustino, Tim, Jesus Patricio, Gonchy, Andres, Antonio and Frank Sarabia all of El Paso, sisters Teresa Juarez, Mary Salcido of El Paso, Berta Sarabia of Cardiff, CA, Angelina Rivers of Albany, NY, Virginia Whigham of El Paso, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, with rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Her family members will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery.

LILLY JESUSITA MENDOZA, 81, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002 in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of San Elizario, Texas and was a member of San Elizario Catholic Church. Mrs. Mendoza was preceded in death by her husband Ramon Mendoza, Sr. and son Ramon Mendoza Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kracher, Sandra Gloria, and Hilda James. Daughter-in-law: Diana Mendoza. 11 Grandchildren. Brothers, Manuel Gonzalez and Reyes Gonzalez. Sisters, Antonia Hernandez, Julia Carbajal, Alicia Sanchez and Maria Pedregon. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at San Elizario Catholic Church. ENRIQUETA POLLARD, 73, passed away November 16, 2002. She is survived by her husband Charles D. Pollard, daughters Anita Bilfield and Mary Cano, son Ricky Pollard, brother Antonio e. Guardia, sister Maria Guardia and 4 grandchildren. MERCY ROJAS, 92, passed away on November 15, 2002. She had been a resident of El Paso, Texas for 60 years and was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of the Friendly Senior Citizen Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Rojas. She is survived by her son Manny Rojas, his wife Martha, daughters Anna Marie Lujan, her husband, Roger, Jennie Barreda, Teri Ramirez, her husband, Lando, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren & 10 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. Rosary service will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron. Interment at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. BETTIE (CHERRY) LEE GREENWADE SMALL March 28, 1929 - November 9, 2002 Cherry Small was born in Austin, Texas to the late Robert and Laura Lowry. She passed away quietly on Saturday, November 9. Cherry recently discovered she had terminal lung cancer. Cherry was raised in Austin, Denver and El Paso. She spent her high school years at El Paso High (class of '46). She graduated from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas in 1950 with a major in Art and Interior Design. She was a member of the Tri Delta Sorority. During her years in Roswell, she was an active board member for the Roswell Assistance League, Roswell Symphony Orchestra and Guild, the United Way, DAR, Morning Garden Club, and St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Returning to El Paso, Cherry became involved with The American Association University of Women, First Presbyterian Church, El Paso Museum of Art and several other charities. Her most treasured joys of her life were her love of the cultural arts and beauty of the Southwest. She shared this great love with all around her. Cherry was preceded in her passing by her sister, Frances (Pam) Lowry Feuille and her second husband, William (Bill) Small. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her son, Tres Greenwade, daughter-in-law Melissa and granddaughters, Kristen, Abbey and Shannon Greenwade all of Austin, Texas; and her daughter, Lauren Greenwade of Los Angeles, Ca. Her brother-in-law, Eddie Feuille of El Paso and his children, Dr. Eddie Feuille and Janie Feuille Cunningham. The family wishes to express great appreciation to the people of Hospice of El Paso, especially Jan Smitherman, for their guidance and support during Cherry's illness. The Family is very grateful to the caregivers who helped Cherry and family during these difficult times. A special thanks to Bianca Dawt for the loving care that she proved to Cherry during her final days. A memorial service will take place at First Presbyterian Church at 1 PM on Friday, Nov. 29. Instead of flowers Cherry would want donations to go to Hospice of El Paso.

CARLOS MELENDEZ SOLIS, 53, passed away Friday, November 15, 2002 in El Paso. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Solis was the owner of ACS of El Paso and was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Socorro Planning Commission and Bel Air Optimist Club. He was a devoted husband, loving father and brother and a dedicated businessman. He is survived by his wife Aurora Solis. Sons Carlos M. Solis Jr., and wife Diana Morin and Samuel L. Solis. Mother, Consuelo Solis. Brothers, Paul Solis Jr., and Rudy Solis. Sisters, Anita Mendoza, Zulema Romero, Rosa Vaquez and Margie Gonzalez. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. His nephews will serve as pallbearers. TERESA TENORIO, 106, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2002 in a local hospital. She was one of the oldest residents of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Tenorio had been employed as a seamstress for the Hilton Hotel with 15 years of service. She is survived by her close friends Raul & Olga R. Jordan whom she had been like a mother to. Also survived by Aaron Alarcon, Staff at Lulac Project Amistad & Staff and residents of Sunset Haven Nursing Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina. Recitation of the Rosary will be Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Directed by HILLCREST FUNERAL HOME. 1060 CAROLINA DR. 598-3332.
