Caran Renee Coward
April 1, 1969 - April 26, 2008

Caran Renee Coward, 39, of Livingston, died Saturday, April 26, 2008. A native and lifelong resident of Lumberton, Caran resided in Livingston for the last eight years where she was a Police Officer for the City of Livingston.

Caran graduated from Lumberton High School in 1987 where she was in the band and a twirler. Later she attended Lamar University from 1987 through 1988; she was also a twirler for Lamar. She attended Angelina Police Academy and graduated with Valedictorian and Top Marksman honors in 2004. Later she was employed with Polk County Sheriff’s Office and was a Coldspring Independent School District Police Officer before transferring to the City of Livingston Police Department. She was recently promoted to FTO, Livingston Police Department Training Officer.

Survivors include her mother and father, Doris Sheffield of Kountze and Kenneth Davenport of Dickinson; father, Dana Sheffield of Kountze; daughter, Megan Elizabeth Corley; sons, Randy Phillip Coward, Jr. and Nathaniel Jacob Coward all of Livingston; sister, Stacie Sheffield and her husband Matt of Lumberton; brothers, Kenneth Davenport, Jr. of Milano and Michael Keith Sheffield of Forney; grandmother, Doris Haney of Sour Lake; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Mortuary.

Donald Patrick O'Flanagan
February 5, 1944 - April 23, 2008

Donald Patrick O'Flanagan, Jr., 64, of Houston, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2008, having suffered many months from cancer. The son of Rose Mary and Donald O'Flanagan who are deceased. Dear brother of Rosemary Lehmann (Ron) and Jack O'Flanagan (Betty Jo) and loving uncle of many. Father of Shawn, Michael, Shannon, and Megan. Cherised PatPat of Mercedes, Cori, and grandchildren. Devoted husband and best friend of Linda. He was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and he served in the US Coast Guard. He was employed at Ohio Bell and a member of the Brothers MC Club. A service will be held at Lindale Assembly of God Church, 500 North Loop 610 East, at 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salavation Army.

Clyde Eugene Springer
June 7, 1932 - April 21, 2008

Funeral Services for Clyde Eugene Springer, 75, of New Caney, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Rev. Dr. Vera Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the Holhausen-Darby Cemetery in Moscow, Texas.

Mr. Springer was born June 7, 1932 in Dayton, Texas and passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 in Conroe, Texas. He served our county in the U.S. Navy, retired from the freight industry as a fork lift operator and was an Assembly of God by faith. He is preceded in death by his parents: Robert Alvie and Estelle (Stepp) Springer; daughter: Nelda Duke; and granddaughter: Elizabeth Duke.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wanda Springer; sons: Harvey Denton of Point Blank, Texas and Robert Springer of New Caney, Texas; daughter and son-in-law: Tracey and Dennis Bilodeau of Stafford, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law: Mary and Bill Pearson of Houston, Texas, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Paul Skaggs, Eric Stevens, J.T. Bond, Freddie Courtney, Douglas Parker, Ray McDonald.

Betty Joe McDuffie
September 19, 1926 - April 21, 2008

Funeral Services for Betty Joe McDuffie, 81, of Moscow, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2008 in the First United Methodist Church in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. W.C. Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the Watts-Jones Cemetery in Moscow, Texas. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 23, 2008 from 6-9 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. McDuffie was born September 19, 1926 in Whittenburg, Texas in Brazoria County and passed away Monday, April 21, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas. She was clerk and owner of her own business for 27 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Corrigan, Texas. She is preceded in death by her first husband: John Floyd Hendry Jr.; her second husband: Harold D. McDuffie; parents: Hal and Ada (Million) Shackelford; son: Michael McDuffie; brothers: Jake Shackelford and Lynn Wesley Shackelford; and sister: Ruth Lee.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Jerry and Marie Hendry of Cushing, Texas and Randy and Linda Hendry of Corrigan, Texas; daughter and son-in-law: Carolyn and Troy Tubbs of Moscow, Texas; sisters: Billie Mildren of Abilene, Texas, Wynama Way of Austin, Texas and Patsy Thompson of Glen Rose, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Caleb Tubbs, Robert Grimes, William Brooks, Jeffrey Hendry, Troy Dorman Tubbs, and Michael Hendry.

Brenda Kay Leger
October 10, 1950 - April 16, 2007

Funeral services for Brenda Kay Leger, age 57, of Dallardsville, Texas, were held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 9:00 PM in the Pace Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Randy Walters officiating. Burial followed in the Big Sandy Cemetery in Dallardsville, Texas. She passed away April 16, 2007 at Memorial Medical Center in Livingston.

Brenda was born October 10, 1950 in Livingston, Texas to Henry Alvin and Doris Alline Musgrove Walters, whom preceded her in death.

Surviving her is her son, Curtis Leger and wife Misti of Livingston, three brothers; James Wayne Birdsong and wife Peggy, Henry Ray Walters and wife Tommie Jo, Larry Walters and wife Donna. One sister Fay Walters and three grandchildren, Hailey, Havanna, and Haven Leger. A host relatives of friends.

Ava Marie White
September 3, 1910 - April 14, 2008

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Little Cemetery in Seminole, Oklahoma for Ava Marie White, age 97of Livingston. She passed away Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Livingston Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. White was born September 3, 1910 in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Preceding her in death are her Father and Mother, John Aaron and Anna Florence Moore Parsons and her Husband of 54 years, David Onan White, brothers; Willie Parsons, Ralph Parsons and sisters Laura Carter, Pearl Rainey, Beulah Birkicht and Inez Parsons.

Surviving her are her Daughters Kathy Dale and husband Bob, Ava Ann Barton. Five grandchildren; David Dale Gray, La, Wesley Dale and Wife Nancy, Fort Lauderdale, Fl, Elizabeth Vorp, Houston, Lance and Linda Barton, Aubrey, Tx, Cris and Gwen Barton, Fort Worth. Great grandchildren; Amanda Vorp, Lauren Dale, Alice Barton, Bobby Barton and Leslie Nixon.

Luther Dennis Whitten
February 6, 1942 - April 14, 2008

Graveside Services for Luther Dennis Whitten, 66, of Moscow, Texas, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in the Holhausen-Darby Cemetery, in Moscow, Texas with Wilbert Doyle officiating.

Mr. Whitten was born February 6, 1942 in Greenville, Texas and passed away Monday, April 14, 2008 in Corrigan, Texas. He was a truck driver for Hughes Petroleum Products, Inc. and a Baptist by faith. He is preceded in death by his parents: Luther Dennis and Ruth (English) Whitten Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Edith R. Whitten of Moscow, Texas; sons and daughters-in-law: James Bailey and Sherry Liljequist of Chester, Texas and Sterling Wesley and Kellye Liljequist of Lovelady, Texas; daughter: Dina Liljequist of Corrigan, Texas, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.

Oren S. McWhorter
January 23, 1932 - April 10, 2008

Funeral Services for Oren S. McWhorter, 76, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2008 in the First Baptist Church in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Phil Corbett, Bro Tim Fuller, and Bro. Ken Cauthen officiating. Interment will follow in the Carmona Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 from 5-8 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. McWhorter was born January 23, 1932 in San Benito, Texas and passed away Thursday, April 10, 2008 in Corrigan, Texas. He left school to join the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. After his enlistment he then took his civil service exam and worked for the Harlingen and San Benito P.D. He also worked in the construction industry, was employed by the Polk County Road and Bridge, and owned and operated the D&M; One Stop convenience store. On March 23, 1990 he was appointed Municipal Judge of Corrigan and served until his retirement on August 31, 2007. He was a past president of the Corrigan Merchant Association, a member of the Corrigan-Camden Booster Club, a member of the Corrigan VFW Post 6521 and a member of Barnum Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents: Albert B. and Francis Ann (O'Neal) McWhorter; brothers: Harlow McWhorter and John McWhorter; sister: Connie Jones; and great grandson: Devontre Maleek Love.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Sue McWhorter; sons: William Joseph Banville of Wonderlake, Illinois, Michael Wayne Hearn of Longview, Texas and Oren S. McWhorter Jr. of Corrigan, Texas; daughters: Francis Ann Mackey of Corrigan, Texas, Vicki Jo Wagner of Cleveland, Texas, Sherry Ann Montgomery of Cleveland, Texas, Suzanne Thompson of Chester, Texas and Kelly Lynn Rice of Livingston, Texas; brother: Forrest Lane of Greenville, Texas; 25 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Chuck McWhorter, Larry Banville, Wade McWhorter, Kyle Rice, Marty Thompson, Wesley Wagner, and Edward Strickland.

Mary Katherine . Wright
August 21, 1946 - April 6, 2008

Mary Katherine Wright 61 of Livingston passed away Sunday April 6, 2008 in Lufkin. Funeral services will be held Thursday April 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM in the Cochran Funeral Home - Livingston with Bro. Bob White officiating. Burial will follow in Peebles Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 9, 2008 from 6:00pm until 10:00pm at Cochran Funeral Home.

Mary is preceded in death by her father Mahlon Wright and mother Roberta Hammond Wright.
She is survived by her son Steven Crowsey of Grand Prairie, daughter and son in law Theresa Lynn and Rick Owens of Porter, daughter Tammy Michelle Long of Livingston, grandchildren Gary, Courtney, Seth, Roper, and Micah, sisters Brenda Long of Richmond, and Dawn Moreno of New Braunsfels, best friend and sister Billie Sue Hill, nephew Sherman Brinkley, and niece Wendy Brown. She is also survived by her extended Wal Mart family and her nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Owens, Jewell Ellison, Dwayne Harrison, Gary Harling, Sherman Brinkley, honorary pallbearers will be Roper Ellison, and Seth Owens.

George "Tink" . Hilton
October 1, 1939 - April 3, 2008

George "Tink" Hilton 68, died Thursday April 3, 2008 in Livingston. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 5, 2008 at 2:00PM in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Reeves and Rev. James Hilton. Visitation was held Friday from 5:00pm until 10:00pm in the Cochran Funeral Home chapel.

Tink is survived by his wife Lorena Hilton of Livingston, daughter and son in law Joan and Jerry Maturin of New Iberia La, son John Kennedy Hilton of Rosharon, Tx, son and daughter in law David Lee and Cindy Hilton of Youngsville, La, daughter Amanda LeeAnn Hilton of Kilgore, Tx, son in law Devin Rider of Kilgore, Tx, son and daughter in law Larry and Shawnie Williams of Livingston, Tx, daughter Holly Elder of St, Louis, Mo, daughter and son in law Cindy Elizabeth and Kevin York, of Murfreesboro, AR, sister and brother in law Nonnie and Johnnie Molino of Livingston, Tx, brother and sister in law Rev. James and Debbie Hilton of Livingston. He also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Steve and Hassie Smith Hilton, brothers Leonard Bo Hilton and Billy Joe Hilton, and one great grand daughter Hailey Angelle Bridges.

Donald Roy Andrews
July 25, 1925 - April 3, 2008

Funeral Services for Donald Roy Andrews, 82, of Diboll, Texas will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 5, 2008 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Buster Griggs and Bro. Gary Fannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas with a Masonic graveside service. Visitation will be held Friday, April 4, 2008 from 5-7 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Andrews was born July 25, 1925 in Wells, Texas and passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas. He was salutatorian in his Class of 1942 and attended the University of Houston. He joined the Army Air Corps and served as a navigator and flight officer during WWII. He was a Chevrolet parts manager for over 50 years and a member of the First Baptist Church in Diboll, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents: Clyde Eugene and Mattie (Goolsby) Andrews; brothers: Jack Andrews and Braley Andrews; and sisters: Johnnie Bates and Lois Andrews.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bessie (Hooper) Andrews of Diboll, Texas; sons: Donald Reagan Andrews and John Alan Andrews both of Austin, Texas; daughters: Mary Jane Allen of Austin, Texas and Laura Lynn Koenig of Ovieda, Florida; grandsons: Austin Koenig and Travis Koenig; granddaughters: Sara Allen, Laura McRae, and Allison Michelle Andrews, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Tatum was born March 13, 1937 in Possum Walk, Texas in Trinity County and passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a homemaker for her family all her life and a member of the Union Springs Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents: Howard and Edith (Bass) Maxey; husband: Tommy C.Tatum Sr.; son: Tommy Tatum Jr.; sisters: Noreen Maxey and Barbara Watts; grandson: Joshua Tatum; and daughter-in-law: Janice Tatum.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: John Paul and Terrie Tatum of Center, Texas, Robert and Michelle Tatum of Mesquite, Texas; daughter and son-in-law: Belinda and Roger Gay of Hemphill, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law: Howard and Betty Maxey of Crosby, Texas, Johnny and Armatha Maxey of Diboll, Texas; sister and brother-in-law: Freddie Jo and Cleo Purvis of Corrigan, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
