Louise Herrington
May 23, 1924 - October 26, 2008

Funeral Services for Louise Herrington, 84, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2008 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Mr. Norman Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 5-8 pm.

Mrs. Herrington was born May 23, 1924 in Cameron, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at her residence. She was a member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ and a secretary for American National Insurance for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert “Bob” Herrington; son: James Herrington; parents: Robert Lawrence and Zeffie (Martin) Bryant; brother: R.L. Bryant Jr.; sister: Ethel Ellis.

She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law: Valerie Herrington Wayne and Jo Ann Herrington of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; daughters: Joyce Herrington of Dallas, Texas; Wanda Johnson of Choctaw, Oklahoma; sisters & brother-in-law: Maurice Owens of Hitchcock, Texas; Jimmie and Paul Small of Lufkin, Texas; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers: Robert Forest Herrington II, Eugene Dexter Herrington, Jason David Herrington, James Dexter Herrington II, David Lawrence Herrington, Virginia Louise VanBurkleo, Brian James Ehrenberg.

Michael Wayne Flowers
January 23, 1949 - February 15, 2009

Michael Wayne Flowers, 60, of Chester passed away February 15, 2009 at his residence.

Born January 23, 1949 in Kirbyville, Tx to the late Robert and Velma Adkins Flowers, he lived in Chester for many years.. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, LaVeta and Vernon Cochran, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Preston and Pat Cherry.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Donna Flowers of Chester; daughters, Melissa Hill and husband, Richard of Chester, Amanda Redding of Onalaska and Rebecca Flowers of Livingston; one grandson and six granddaughters; sister, Betty Horn and husband, Kenneth of Heartland, Tx; brother, Jerry Flowers and wife, Donna of Silsbee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Delores Swearingen of Barnum, Lynn and Delene Ross of Jasper and very special friends, Trina and Rachael Sims and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Ken Cauthen and Brother Larry Trest officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Chester . Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Hubert, Mike Beaty, Kevin Horn, Steven Horn, Michael Sowell, and Patrick Cherry.

Services were held under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Raymon Odell Cowart
February 13, 1933 - February 11, 2009

Funeral Services for Raymon Odell Cowart, 75, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Charlie Hodge officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, February 13, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Cowart was born February 13, 1933 in Fred, Texas and passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at his residence. He was a Baptist by faith and formerly employed by Louisiana Pacific as a millwright. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Edith Evie (Ratliff) Cowart; brothers: Lester Cowart, J.D. Cowart, Glynn Cowart, Billy Cowart and Henry Kirkland; sisters: Aline Berry, Willie Mae Dryden.

He is survived by his friend and mother of children: Frances Cowart of Diboll, Texas; son: Greg Cowart of Trinity, Texas; daughters and son-in-law: Ramona and Gilbert Garcia of Lufkin, Texas; Shanna Cowart of Diboll, Texas; JoAnna Thompson of Diboll, Texas; brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Joy Cowart of Colmesneil, Texas; sister: Maxine McKim of Irving, Texas; grandchildren: Heith Garcia and wife Summer, Britt Garcia and wife Nicole, Zane Blount, Jaylon Willis, Ian Willis, Kade Thompson, Kolt Thompson and Brianna Thompson; great grandchildren: Jordan Garcia, Jade Garcia, Talen Garcia, Bryce Golden, Britt Hession.

La Rue Cockrell
June 12, 1925 - February 1, 2009

Graveside Services for La Rue Cockrell, 83, of Pasadena, Texas will be held Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. Ralph Johnston officiating.

La Rue Crecelius Cockrell slipped into the arms of Jesus Christ on February 1, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ben “J.B.” Cockrell, brother, Sam Crecelius, parents, Roy and Ina Crecelius, and her husband’s parents, Jack and Maud Cockrell. She is survived by her daughter, Meleissa Creel and husband, Michael, their sons, David W. Creel and wife Jennifer, and John Michael Creel. Two sons, Daniel W. Cockrell and wife, Nancy and their daughter, Nikki L. Cockrell, and son Stephen W. Cockrell and her only great grandson, Colton Cockrell, Charles B. Cockrell and wife, Lynn, their sons, Ben W. Cockrell and Rev. Casey L. Cockrell and wife, Tasha, and her only great granddaughter, Claire Elizabeth Cockrell, brother-in-law, Billy Mac Cockrell and wife, Shirley of Corrigan and sister-in-law, Joyce Alsbrooks Cobb of Corrigan.

La Rue Crecelius was born June 12, 1925 in Huntington, Texas. Her parents were Roy and Ina Crecelius. She grew up just outside of Corrigan in Skinnertown. She graduated Corrigan High School as valedictorian of her class in March of 1944. The finished school early in order for the young men to help plant the crops and then leave to go enlist into the service to go and fight in World War II. She married John Ben Cockrell of Corrigan, Texas on September 29, 1945. J.B. and La Rue moved to Pasadena, Texas in 1948. They were charter members of Central Baptist Church in Pasadena where she was in charge of the Beginners Department for over 35 years. She worked outside of the home for several years for Bob Marco Buick in Houston. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to all that knew her. If there was one thing she could say today it would be, “Prepare yourself to meet your Lord and Savior by believing in Jesus Christ and accepting him into your heart.”

Winona Parmley
March 8, 1926 - January 21, 2009

Winona Parmley, age 82, long time resident of Corrigan died January 21, 2009 in her
home. She was born March 8, 1926 in Range, Oklahoma to James L. and Jewel Morris and
was the last surviving member of the five Morris children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Wayne Parmley. She is survived by her
son, Raymond S. Harkins and her daughter Wanda Rae Patterson and son-in-law Richard
Patterson. Other survivors include her nieces: Gloria Fuller, Peggy Bourque, Paula
Feldman, and Sharon Kay, her nephews: George Lee, Leo Lee, Skeeter Lee Jr., and her
friend and dedicated caregiver, Barbara Gesford.

Mrs. Parmley worked for many years as a cosmetologist in the Nederland area. Later
in 1974 she would marry Wayne Parmley and they both retired and moved to his farm in
Corrigan to enjoy the country life.

She enjoyed her gardening, fishing, arts and crafts, and cooking. She was a kind and
gentle woman always concerned first about the needs of others. She had many friends
in the community. She will be missed.

Corrigan Funeral Home handled the cremation arrangements. A memorial service will be
held in Mrs. Parmley’s home on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m.

John Vernon Cobb
October 9, 1922 - January 23, 2009

Funeral Services for John Vernon Cobb, 86, of Corrigan, Texas will be held at 10:00
a.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan,
Texas with Father William A. Slight, M.S. officiating. Visitation will be held
Monday, January 26, 2009 from 6-9 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Union Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Cobb was born October 9, 1922 in Cuero, Texas and passed away Friday, January
23, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas. He was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in
Lufkin and also served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as an airplane mechanic. He
was a longtime member of the Corrigan City Council and mayor pro-term for many
years. He was also a longtime member of the Corrigan Lions Club and along with
Myrtis Sirman and Gordon Reily, he founded the Corrigan FFA Buyers Committee. He
owned Corrigan Feed & Supply which he opened in 1953 and operated until he was well
in his 70’s. He was an avid bowler and only gave it up about a year ago when health
issues forced him to stop. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.W. and Ada
Cobb; first wife: Elaine Haynes Cobb; brother: Vernon Hesse; mother-in-law and
father-in-law: Maggie and Handley Haynes.

He is survived by his wife: Joyce Cobb of Corrigan, Texas; son and daughter-in-law:
John Walter and Connie Cobb of Corrigan, Texas; daughter and son-in-law: Elizabeth
and Terry Alsbrooks of Lufkin, Texas; grandson: John Bergman Cobb of Lufkin, Texas;
brother: John Hesse; sisters-in-law and husband: Margaret Haynes, and Anita and
Eugene Dunn.

Pallbearers: Wallace Dickson, John Myrtis Sirman, Bobby Smiley, Ralph Cockrell,
Ervin Cockrell, Billy Mac Cockrell, Wayne Haynes and Buddy Dunn.
