Homer Jack Wade
April 28, 1922 - October 19, 2009

Homer Jack Wade, age 87, passed away October 19, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas. He was born April 28, 1922 in LaFlore, Oklahoma. Jack was a veteran of WWII. He joined the US Marine Corps shortly after Pearl Harbor and participated in numerous landings of the Pacific Campaign, including Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. Upon returning from the war, Jack served as a police officer for the City of Port Arthur, Texas, before settling on a career in petroleum refining. He loved music, especially bluegrass and country western, the outdoors, good food and deer hunting. For most of his life, Jack was a workaholic, which included building five of his family’s residences with his own hands. In his later years he enjoyed travel and belonged to the Escapees in Livingston, where he leaves many friends.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Blanchette Wood Wade of Livingston; sons, Robert Keith Wade and wife Annette of Beaumont, Texas and Glenn Alan Wade and wife Karen of Fort Worth, Texas, step-children; Marcia Beverly and husband Steven Lee of Dallas, Texas, Clayton Wood and wife Chancel of Seattle, WA.; grandchildren, Patrick Kristoffer Wade of Lubbock, Texas, Elizabeth Colette Wade of Chicago, Denys Charles Laurence Wade of Houston, Texas and Carter Jack Wade of Fort Worth, Texas; step-grandchildren, Erin Beverly and Susannah of Dallas, Caily Wood and Hannah Wood; great grandchildren, Caleb and Ben Odom; brothers, Rob Wade of San Antonio, Texas and Gary Donald Wade of Robstown, Texas, He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Lee and Clarice Ernestine Collier Wade, and brother Laurence Waco Wade.

Graveside service will be held at the VA Houston National cemetery at 10410 Veterans Drive in Houston, Texas, at 12:30 PM Wednesday, October 21, 2009. Pace Funeral Home, 200 FM 350 N., Livingston, TX. in charge of arrangements.

Anna Jewel "Judy" Sheffield Goedicke
July 2, 1925 - October 5, 2009

Anna Jewel "Judy" Sheffield Goedicke, age 84 of Livingston, Texas, passed away Monday, October 5, 2009. Judy was born July 2, 1925 in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from high school in 1942. She worked for Exxon in Houston, where she made her home with her husband of 50 years, Oscar H. Goedicke, Jr. They retired to Livingston in 1990.

She leaves behind her son Mark L. Goedicke and fiancé Marti Noriega of Houston and her daughter Lisa A. Muench and husband Kris of Dallas; two grandsons; Raynor Choate of Austin, Texas and Jackson Choate and wife Stephanie of Dallas Texas; one granddaughter, Stacie Muench and great grandson, Noah of Fort Worth, Texas; her sister Mildred Jester of Alvin and a host of nieces and nephews; and her best friend of 60 years, Beverly "Pete" Oliphant of Houston, Texas. Funeral services will be Friday, October 9, 2009 at 2:00 PM, at Pace Funeral Home, with Pastor Carl Roth officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home.

Dont T. Collins
January 18, 1938 - October 4, 2009

Don T. Collins, age 71, born in Wink, Texas, on January 18, 1938, passed away on October 4, 2009 in Austin, Texas. Don was a devoted, loving and caring father, husband, brother, granddaddy, neighbor and friend. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, going to garage sales, playing with his grandchildren and playing Texas lotteries, blackjack and poker. Don was a graduate of Texas Tech. Mr. Collins was employed for 30 years by the Rural Electrification Administration as an Electrical Engineer.

He is survived by his loving wife Marcella Collins; sons, Donnie Collins, Melvin Collins and wife Melissa; daughters, Melanie White and husband E.O. and Donna Williams and husband David; grandchildren, Glen White, Amber White, Rebecca Collins, Aaron Collins, Mason Williams and Milam Williams; sister, Dianne Gilliland and husband Don, nieces and nephews; Timothy Gilliland, Joel Gilliland and Leah Fairhurst. Mr. Collins is preceded in death by his mother and father, Donnie and Rosalie Moore Collins. Pallbearers are Donnie Collins, Melvin Collins, E.O. White, David Williams and Mason Williams. The Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7PM, Wednesday. Pastor Timothy Gilliland will be officiating. Interment will be in Camp Ruby cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

Carl Raymond Meyer
August 29, 1951 - September 30, 2009

Carl Raymond Meyer, born August 29, 1951 in Houston, Texas died on September 30, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas at the age of 58 years. His loving family includes wife Lynell Meyer of 22 years in Livingston, son Nick Meyer and wife Heather of Baytown, daughters Brandy Colvin and husband Jeremy of Oakhurst, Lindsey Campbell and husband Lance of San Antonio, brother Raymond Meyer and wife Cindy of Goodrich, sisters Gale Franklin and husband William of Livingston, and Nancy Randall and husband Donnie of Huntington, twelve grandchildren with one on the way, numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Carl was devoted to his family, enjoyed fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys and loved his two puppies. He dedicated 20 years of service to Polk County working with Road and Bridge. A celebration of Carl's life will begin a 3 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2009 and Pace Funeral Home.

Jamie Ruth Holmes
November 26, 1946 - September 13, 2009

Jamie Ruth Holmes, born November 26, 1946 in Pasadena, Texas died September 13, 2009 in Galveston, Texas at the age of 62 years. Her loving family includes daughter, Denise Holmes & fiancé Raul Herrera; son, Thomas Holmes & significant other Spankie Pellerin; brother, C.T. Cupps; one grandchild, Thomas James Earnhardt. Preceding her in death are her parents, Tom M. and Mary Ruth Williams Cupps.

A visitation will be held 6pm till 8pm September 16, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home. A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will begin at 10am September 17, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home with Pastor Orval Barger officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3pm at Sardis cemetery in Jewett, TX. Pace Funeral Home, 200 FM 350 N., Livingston, TX.

Nero Ophelia "Doodle" Lambright
August 22, 1931 - September 9, 2009

Nero Ophelia "Doodle" Lambright, age 78, was born in Birmingham, Alabama, August 22, 1931 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Mrs. Lambright was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all that knew her. She was a member of the Big Sandy Community Church. She is survived by her sons, James Warren Lambright & wife Sonja; Kenneth Wayne Lambright & wife Denise and Tim Wade Lambright & wife Darlene. Her daughters; Patricia Ann Lambright and Dale Denise Dillon & husband Milton. daughter-in-law, Margie Lambright. 18 grandchildren & 29 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Ava Jardon Keel; husband, Isaac Lambright; grandson, Shannon Wade Dillon and great-granddaughter, Raven Jade Dillon.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Shane Lambright, Dusty Wade Lambright, Hawk Rivers Lambright, Curtis Wayne Lambright, David Matthew Dillon and William Arthur

Dillon. The celebration of Doodle's Life were held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home, with Pastor Mitchell Murphy officiating.

Visitation was Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Burial followed in the Big Sandy cemetery .

CSM Doyle Odell Smith (Ret)
May 10, 1929 - September 5, 2009

CSM Doyle Odell Smith, (Retired), of Pasadena, Texas, went to be with our Lord, on Saturday, September 5, 2009. He was a strong, gentle man who loved his family, his friends and his life. Born in Camp Ruby, Texas, May 10, 1929, to Dennis Odell Smith and Hesta Myrle (Hammond) Smith, he was the oldest of three children. He attended school in Camp Ruby until it was consolidated with Livingston when he was in the ninth grade. He graduated from Livingston High School, where he played football, basketball, ran track, was student council president along with being the Class Most Handsome Boy.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1949 through 1979. In 1950, he departed Tacoma, Washington for Korea, with the 23rd Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a tank gunner. Upon his return home, he married Frances Ellis, his high school sweetheart. They shared a military life traveling the world. After Korea, he went to Camp Chaffey, Arkansas, then to Munich, Germany. This is where, Denise, his oldest daughter was born. Back stateside, he went to Fort Hood, Texas then to Fort Polk, Louisiana with the 2nd Armored Division. This is where his younger daughter, Melinda, was born. In 1958, he went back to Munich, Germany then three years at Fort Hood, Texas. His next post in Germany was Erlangen at Ferris Barracks. He returned stateside to Owensboro, Kentucky, where he was in charge of the National Guard. He fought in Viet Nam, another tour in Germany with his final post at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. In 1979, after running the 47th Field Hospital in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, he retired as Cmd. Sergeant Major.

Shortly after retiring, he met and married Caryl (Jody) Baker Crockett, from Pasadena, Texas. They made their home in Pasadena where he spent time gardening, fishing, hunting and traveling. In 1995 he met up with his old tank crew from Korea and joined the 2nd Indianhead Division Association. He was an active member of the association, proudly wearing the division patch, planning and hosting annual reunions and supporting their cause.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Hesta Mryle Smith and brother, Edwin D. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Jody, from Pasadena, Texas; Denise and Britt Cribbet, daughter and son-in-law, from Rowlett, Texas, Melinda and Ray Loney, daughter and son-in-law, from Crosby, Texas; five grandchildren, Brittany and Richard Cribbet, from Rowlett, Texas and Ryan, Daren and Kevan Loney, from Crosby, Texas; sister, Betty Joyce Smith Gulley and sister-in-law, Etta Townley Smith, both from Livingston, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Loney, Richard Cribbet, Daren Loney, Kevan Loney, Jerrod Byley, Jason Gulley, Joe Gulley III, and Stephen Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Brittany Cribbet, Taylor Groze and John Groze. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00pm, Thursday, Sept, 10th, at Pace Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, on Friday, September 11, 2009, with Dr. Joe Gulley II, and Steve Smith officiating, at the Oak Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Camp Ruby cemetery .

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the 2nd Indianhead Division Association (Scholarship Foundation), P O Box 218 Fox Lake, IL 60020-0218. Please include date of death and show Tank Company, 23rd Infantry Regiment. Pace Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Marie Withers
September 23, 1916 - August 29, 2009

Lois Marie Withers, born September 23, 1916 in Keenes, Illinois. She went to be with her Lord August 29, 2009 at the age of 92. She is survived by her loving husband, Hubert (Skeet) Withers. Also numerous other relatives and a host of friends Lois was a devoted Christian and attended First United Pentecostal Church in Livingston. She worked in Tupelo Children Mansion in Mississippi and spent 13 years in missionary work. A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 from 6pm till 8pm at Pace Funeral Home. A celebration of Lois’s life will begin Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at 11am at the 1st United Pentecostal Church, 404 E. Church, Livingston. Pastor Gerald Morris will be officiating with interment to follow at Peebles cemetery .

Shirley Melton
February 28, 1940 - August 17, 2009

Shirley Melton, age 69, was born February 28, 1940 in Livingston and went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 17, 2009 in Houston, Texas. She worked at First State Bank as a Teller/Secretary. Shirley belonged to First Baptist Church of Providence, played the piano, worked with vacation bible school, loved crafts, and shopping with her cousin Mary Ann Myrow. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her co-workers at Pace Funeral Home.

Shirley is survived by her son; David Melton; daughter, Lisa Lantrip and husband Robert of Goodrich; grandchildren; Heather Melton, Josh Melton, Morgan Lantrip and Andrew Landtrip; great grandchild, Landon Melton; brothers Leland Walters of Livingston and James Walters and wife Wynona of Livingston; sister, Geraldine White and husband, Hugh of Goodrich.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years Hughbie Douglas Melton and parents, Oscar B. and Agnes Moffett Walters, and one sister Ola Mae Vailes. Pallbearers will be Cullen B. Vailes, Matt Moffett, Shawn Nichols, Brandon Smith, Zachary Smith and Daryl Walters.

The Celebration of her life will be held Thursday, August 20, 2009, 10:00 AM at Pace Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Heuermann and Pastor Tommy Dobbs officiating. Interment to follow at Peebles cemetery . The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, August 19, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00.

Bernice Marie Rayburn
August 14, 1936 - July 29, 2009

Bernice Marie Rayburn, born August 14, 1936 in Livingston, Texas and went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the age of 72. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Rayburn; son, Earl Rayburn and wife Paula; daughter, Cindy Goins; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lodia Homa and Alvie Brock. The funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the Assembly of God Church in Leggett, Texas with Rev. Glenn Hearren officiating. Burial followed at Alexander cemetery in New Willard. Visitation was held from 5:00-9:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home on Friday, July 31, 2009. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Charles Edward Macks
February 26, 1954 - July 28, 2009

Charles Edward Macks, 55, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Livingston, Texas. He was born February 26, 1954 to Pauline Macks, whom preceded him in death. Mr. Macks enjoyed singing and dancing. He is survived by his wife, Janet Sue Jones; son, Shannon Blue Macks; grandchildren, Treana Shae Macks and Shannon Blue Malachi Macks; stepchildren, Jerry Glenn Jones Jr. and John David Jones; and step grandchildren, Lisa Nicole Jones, Lessley Renee Jones, John Glenn Jones, Justin Allan Jones, Jeremy Glenn Jones and Grayson Tyler Dalton.

Services were held on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at Wildwood Church in Onalaska, Texas at 2:00 PM. Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Halie Lynne Flores
July 17, 2009 - July 30, 2009

Born to proud parents John and Krystle Flores on July 17, 2009 was recalled to our father in heaven on July 30, 2009. She is survived by brothers Antonio Flores and John Flores III of Livingston, Texas. Jesse Flores brother and Alexis Flores sister. Grandparents Lisa and LC Of Louisiana, Richard and Kate Beasley of Colorado, and John and Alma Flores of Onalaska. Uncles Jonathon Ray and Julian Flores of Onalaska, Ray Holford II, Christopher Courchene and Skyler Bond of Louisiana. Aunts Crystal and Christina Flores of Texas, Athena Bond and Pamela Courchene of Louisiana. She is also survived by many cousins. She will be joined in heaven by the proud waiting arms of her great grandparents; Flores, Wagner, and Lehl.

Funeral services will be held at Pace Funeral Home, Monday, August 3, 2009 at 11:00 AM. Visitation was held Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home.

Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Kilgore
August 5, 1931 - July 27, 2009

Mary Elizabeth(Beth) Kilgore of Goodrich, Texas, was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, August 5, 1931 and went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 27, 2009 in Lufkin, Texas at the age of 77 years. Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert E. Kilgore; son, David Edward Kilgore; grandchild, Katie Blair Kilgore, and great-grandchild, Delaney Nicole Kilgore-Igleheart. Mrs. Kilgore is preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Norma Alice Howell Mosman; brother, Edward Norman Mosman and sister, Francis Jane Mosman Hardin.

A celebration of Beth’s life will be held, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home at 2:00 PM, with Pastor John Stephenson, Pastor Don Willis, Pastor James Frazier and Pastor Pam Howard officiating. Visitation will be Thursday evening, July 30, 2009 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Houston National cemetery in Houston.

D'Allen Thigpen
August 23, 1928 - July 19, 2009

D’Allen Thigpen, 80, formerly of Onalaska, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas. D’Allen was born August 23, 1928 in Huntsville, Texas. He was a Veteran in the United States Navy having served during WWII. Employed with Tenneco and Occidental Chemical for 40 years and retired in 1989. He graduated from Cleveland High School and attended Sam Houston State University. He attended Onalaska church of Christ. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, wood working and gardening.

His loving family includes Wife of 28 years Louise Thigpen; Children: Harold Thigpen of Highlands, TX; Diane Allen of Coldspring, Tx; Bobby Thigpen of Washington, D.C.; Connie Billingsley of Fort Worth, TX; Shirley Mate of Houston, TX. Brothers: Hubert Thigpen of Cold Springs, TX; Bruce Thigpen of Charleston, AK; Sisters: Cecil Thomas of Bryan, TX; Carol Blake of Marble Falls, TX; Mary Schomer of Conroe, TX.

12 Grandchildren: Marcus Thigpen, Nathan Thigpen, Wesley Williams, Allen Williams, Carrie Daffin, Joshua Thigpen, Tiffany Radney, Chuck Billingsley, Charis Jones, Barbara Billingsley, R.J. Mate, and Jennifer Pitman. 8 Great Grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Pace funeral home.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m. at Pace Funeral Home with Mr. Glen Thigpen officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Hill cemetery in Livingston, TX. with military honors given by the V.F.W. Post #8568

Ruth LaVerne Wilkerson
December 7, 1934 - July 17, 2009

Ruth LaVerne Wilkerson Donham, age 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2009. She was born to James and Rosa Mae Donham, December 7, 1934 in Desha County, Arkansas. She attended grammar school in McGehee, Arkansas and high school in Selma Arkansas. She married James Emmitt Donham, May 16, 1952 and resided in Crossett, Arkansas. She worked in hotel industry. Moved to Odessa, Texas in 1964, then moved to Houston, Texas in 1967, where she worked in medical records, hotel management. Retired in 1987 to travel with her husband in international consulting, then moved to Onalaska, Texas in 1987. She devoted her time caring for her ailing mother, children and grandchildren. She and her husband owned antique and collectible stores in Onalaska and Lufkin, Texas. Her hobbies were antiques and genealogy.

She is survived by her husband, James Donham, James F. Donham, daughters; Debra Barr and Jane Caney. Grandchildren, Jonathan Donhan, Christopher Donhan, Morgan Barr and Norman French. She is preceded in death by her mother, Rosa Mae Wilkerson, father, Lee Wilkerson and son, Jon Scott Donham.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at the Pace Funeral Home chapel. Visitation was held Monday evening, July 20, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home.

James Alfred “Jamie” Groze
June 15, 1957 - July 19, 2009

James Alfred “Jamie” Groze, Born June 15, 1957 in Kountze, Texas. Died Saturday, July 18, 2009 in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 52. A funeral service was held, Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Pace Funeral Home with Mr. Stephen Smith officiating. Interment followed in Camp Ruby cemetery . Pace Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Timmy Earl Alexander, age 57, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Timberwood Nursing Home in Livingston, Texas. Timmy was born in Calfex, Texas, April 12, 1952, to Jimmy Earl and Pearl Clendenon Alexander. He is survived by his son, Douglas Alexander, daughters; Tasha and Tabitha Alexander. Family entrusted Pace Funeral Home for final arrangements.
