Lena Skains Reynolds

Lena Skains Reynolds was born January 31, 1918 in Glendale, Texas to parents, Benjamin Franklin Skains and Minnie Frances (Lee) Skains and passed away on July 11, 2012 in Huntsville, Texas.

Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Franklin Skains and Minnie Frances (Lee) Skains; her husband, Rayburn J. Reynolds; son, Frank Reynolds; step-father, Wm. P. Hill; three sisters, Edna Johnson, Oleta Parr and Clara Mae Grandstaff; and brother, Wm. A. Hill.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Kelli Mackey, Lauren Jarrell, Ericia Huff, Eric Brandon and wife, Candye; daughter-in-law, Elnita Reynolds; sister-in-law, Oleta Schneider; seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lena started teaching Sunday School in 1955 and first taught at the First Baptist Church in La Marque. It was there that she started teaching about the Bible and then later moved to Schwab City and became a member of Schwab City Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Her other great delight was the thirty plus years that she spent singing and witnessing in the Nursing Home Ministry. She was very Patriotic and also enjoyed taking photography, collecting numerous items, writing poetry, scrap booking and writing in her diary.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 16, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas and funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Bro. David Jones officiating the services. Interment icon will follow the services in the Glendale cemetery in Glendale.

The family would like to thank Nabeel Khan, M.D., The Lexington Center, Ella Smither Geriatric Center and Huntsville Memorial Hospital for the kind and loving care that they gave for the past several years.

Nila Jean Splettstosser

Memorial/Graveside services for Nila Jean Splettstosser, 75, of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Bro. John Tyler and Robert Smiley officiating.

Mrs. Spletttstosser died at noon Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her home. She was born April 23, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold Lawrence Buckley and Eudora Modena Parsons Buckley. The family moved to Texas while she was still young.

Jean went to school in East Texas where she met and married James Splettstosser on January 29, 1955. They settled in Austin, Texas until retirement when they moved to Missouri. Jean was member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband: James Splettstosser; daughter: Pamela Splettstosser of West Plains, Missouri; son: Frederick Splettstosser of the state of Texas; grandchildren: Cheyenne Montoya of the state of Colorado, Shane Bruner of the state of Missouri, Chad Birch of the state of Texas, and Christan Jacoby of the state of Texas; nine great grandchildren; and sister: Margaret Gassenmayer of the state of Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Eudora Buckley; daughter: Ericka Bell; brothers: Larry and Robert Buckley.

Floyd Lue Mize
January 28, 1929 to July 10, 2012

Floyd Lue Mize passed away on July 10, 2012 at his home in Livingston, Texas. He was born on January 28, 1929, in Onalaska, Texas, to parents Lue L. Mize and Lela Mae Smith Mize. Floyd loved his family and worked hard to take care of everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lue and Lela Mize; his beloved wife, Anita Jean Boyett Mize; four sons, David Lue Mize, Sr., Roy Dale Mize, John Mark Mize, Tommy Lee Mize; infant twins, Billy Dean Mize and Betty Jean Mize; infant daughter, Jeanie Mae Mize and another infant son. Floyd is also preceded in death by brother, Earl Mize; sister, Ollie Mae Mize and grandson, David Lue Mize, Jr., He is survived by his daughter, Janis Wade of Livingston, Texas; grandchildren and their spouses: Chris and Gina Lowe, Katina and Kevin Somers, Robin Lowe, Donley Mize, Teresa and Kenny Arledge, Cathy and Melvin Whitmire, Erick Mize, Anita Miller, Jennifer & Adam Kennedy, Tiffany Mize, Crystal Mize, Levi Grover, Roy Mize, Jr., Mary Kay and Ryan Brandt; thirty-four Great Grandchildren; five Great-Great Grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Letha Faye and Nola Cox of Marshall, Arkansas; brother and sister-in-law, Carroll and Dollie Mize of Dayton, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Chapel in Livingston. Pallbearers were Chris Lowe, Erick Mize, Justin Lowe, Eddie Harvey, Tim Harvey, Jesse Lowe, Robert Mize. Honorary pallbearers are Jered Lowe and Auston Mize. Following the chapel service, interment was held at Magnolia cemetery in Onalaska, Texas.

Beverly Lynn Thornton

Beverly Lynn Thornton was born January 21, 1960 in Corpus Christi, Texas to William Wesley Culver and Johnnie Sue Henry. Went to be with her Lord on July 12, 2012 at the age of 52 years. Beverly was in the health industry and worked in the home health field for most of her life. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and husband Michael Patrick Thornton. Her loving family includes son, Michael Thornton and daughter Samantha Thornton; brother Nicky Griffin and wife Laura; sisters, Brenda McAdams and Billie Jean Culver; One grandson Michael Anthony Thornton. A Celebration of Beverly’s life will begin at 3:00pm, Sunday July 15, 2012 at the Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Bro. Harold Isaacs will be officiating.

ROBERT (B0B) FREDRICK REED
February 21, 1941 to July 11, 2012

Robert “Bob” Fredrick Reed, age 71 of Livingston, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Conroe Regional Hospital from a long illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Rev. David and Janet Akery will conduct the services. Dr. William E. Watson will present the eulogy. Military Honors will be presented by VFW Post #8568. Pallbearers are: David Brown, Bill Watson, Paul Brudnicki, Bob Boyette, Roy Statucki and Kennie Shaw. Honorary pallbearers are Tristan Brown, Walter Brudnicki and Dennis Brown. Following the chapel service, interment will be at Forest Hill cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, July 13, 2012, and Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston.

Bob was born to Charles Arthur Reed and Leona Deloma Copeland on February 21, 1941, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bob and family moved to Harlingen, Texas, in 1947. In 1957, Bob enlisted in the US Air Force and thru his service, did various jobs as: Mechanic, Investigations, Air Police and Sentry Dog Handler. Upon leaving the service after eight years, Bob went to work for his step-father and mother at Davis Plumbing and Air Conditioning in Harlingen, Texas. He married Lillian E. Nagel on December 3, 1977, in Harlingen, Texas. A daughter, Misty Lynn Reed, was born to them on October 13, 1979. In the early 80’s, they all moved to Livingston, Texas. Bob was a past president of the Lions Club in Harlingen and a past member of the Livingston Rotary Club. He loved cooking out and spending time with family, but a very favorite past time for Bob was auctions and garage sales.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Charles A. and Leona Deloma Reed; step-father, J.O. Davis; brother, Charles C. Reed; aunt, Dorothy Neal; and beloved companion, Mo-Mo. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian “Lilly” Reed of Livingston, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Misty and David Brown of Livingston, Texas; grandson, Tristan Brown and granddaughter, MaryJane Brown, both of Livingston, Texas; sister, Darolene Dalager of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law and wife, John and Diana Nagel of Harlingen, Texas; nieces, nephews and their spouses, Julie Polasek of Corpus Christi, J.J. and Madi Dobie of Three Rivers, Texas; John and Angela Nagel, Jr. of Houston, Texas, Billy and Rachel Nagel of San Antonio, Texas, Aggie Nagel of San Antonio, Texas, Amanda and Joe Nino of Harlingen, Texas, Abby Nagel of San Antonio, Texas; beloved pets, Dolly and PuppyCat; special friends, Bob and Barb Boyette, Bill and Martha Watson and Kennie Shaw.

Walter Wilkerson

Walter Wilkerson was born on October 27, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Walter Wilkerson and Odie Walters. passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the age of 76 years. Walter loved farming, being outside with animals, always helping people and loved children. He is survived by his son, Donald Wilkerson Sr.; grandchildren, Donny Wilkerson Jr., Brandy Smith and husband Demetrius, Jennie Owens and husband Micheal; great grandchildren, Cristopher Jones, Nathaniel Smith, Jonah Wilkerson, Caleb Smith, Chasitie Langley, Jadyn Langley, Cadyn Langley, and Chloe Langley; preceded in death by both parents. A Celebration of Walter’s life will begin at 11AM Friday, July 13, 2012 at Big Sandy cemetery in Dallardsville, Texas. Pastor Bob Laird will be officiating.

Frank Alton Trevathan

Funeral Services for Frank Alton Trevathan, 74 of Trinity, Texas will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas, with Bro. Dewayne Polland officiating. Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Merryman, Billy Frank Merryman, Kevin James Trevathan, Brian Michael Trevathan, Isaac William Trevathan and Timothy Dale Trevathan. Interment icon will follow at Magnolia cemetery in Onalaska. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Onalaska, Texas beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Frank was born April 25, 1938 in Cleveland, Texas to parents William Marshall Trevathan and Zennie Mae (Luce) Trevathan. He married Ila Jeanette on November 26, 1955, in Clawson, Texas. He passed away on July 11, 2012, in Livingston, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Zennie Trevathan; brother, Earlie Trevathan; brother, Jack Trevathan; and sister, Pearl Mae Cain.

He is survived by his wife, Ila Jeanette Trevathan; son and daughter-in-law, James Alton and Kathy Trevathan; son and daughter-in-law, Ricky Michael and Melissa Trevathan; daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lynn and Chuck Mills; granddaughter and husband, Katherine Renae and Wade Hester; granddaughter and husband, Jamie Marie and Dennis Johnston; granddaughter and husband, Jenny Lynn and Bucky Glenn; grandson, Bobby Joe Merryman; grandson, Billy Frank Merryman; grandson, Kevin James Trevathan; grandson, Brian Michael Trevathan; grandson, Isaac William Trevathan; grandson, Timothy Dale Trevathan; and great-grandchildren: Dylan James Merryman, Rylie Nicole Merryman, Bailey Lorraine Glenn, Taylor Rae Glenn, Brice Kelton Creel, Tatum Ranae Creel, Elijah Wade Hester and Wyatt Allen Barnette; sister, Leaddies Virginia Harp; brother, Marshall Lee Trevathan; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gregory Wayne Lawrence, age 43 of Livingston, Texas, passed away on July 5, 2012, in Houston, Texas. He was born on April 28, 1969, in Jacinto City, Texas, to parents, Freddy Lawrence and Cynthia Shahan Lawrence. Mr. Lawrence is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Miles Hendrix of Dayton, Texas; son, Justin Stapleton of Ace, Texas; daughters, Desiree Lawrence of Livingston, Texas, and Victoria Lawrence of Ace, Texas; grandson, Jett Hendrix of Dayton, Texas; father and step-mother, Freddy and Patricia Lawrence of Center, Texas; mother, Cynthia Cole of Texarkana, Arkansas; three brothers, Charles Lawrence of Texarkana, Arkansas, Alan Lawrence of Ace, Texas, and David Lawrence of Center, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Melissa and Alex Munoz of Center, Texas; mother of his children, Cindy Nelms; and numerous other relatives and friends.

David Oscar Seig

David Oscar Seig, was born October 13, 1918 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Jacob and Alma Friedrich Seig. Went to be with his Lord on July 8, 2012 at the age of 93 years. He was married for 68 years to his high school sweetheart Vivian Louse Seig, who preceded him in death in 2008. David was a member of Goodrich First United Methodist Church. His loving family includes daughters, Pamela K. Howard and husband Ray; Sandra Seig Perritt and husband Bob; Five grandchildren, Jennifer Gassaway and husband Bill; Justin Owen and wife Tiffany; Danielle Owen; Jason Perritt; Matt Perritt and wife Patricia; One great grandson Ethan Gassaway. He was an avid baseball fan, coached Little League Baseball for 15 years. David had a passion for flying and planes. He was a pilot for a private commercial company where he flew a Cessna. He founded the Volunteer Recovery Fire Department, was Fire Chief and served as Community Director in Recovery, Georgia for 20 years. A veteran in the United States Army having proudly served in World War II. A celebration of David’s life will begin at 10:00am Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Goodrich First United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Willis officiating. Military Honors will be given by the VFW Post #8568. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goodrich First United Methodist Church at 1229 Hwy Loop 393 Goodrich, Texas 77335.

Lola “Marie” Arrington
April 19, 1922 to July 9, 2012

Marie Arrington was born on April 19, 1922, in Jena, Louisiana to parents, Earl and Christina Hoewitt. She passed away on July 9, 2012, in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 90.

Mrs. Arrington is preceded death by her parents, Earl and Christina Hoewitt; and brothers, Luther Hall, James Hewitt, Frank Hall, Earl M. Hewitt, Jr; and sister, Evelyn Cooper. She is survived by two sons, Robert G. Walker of Crosby, Texas and James Duane Walker of Pine, Colorado; two sisters, Eddie Mae Sawyer and Helene Baldree.

William E. “Pete” Gray
April 22, 1925 to July 8, 2012

William “Pete” Gray was born April 22nd, 1925, in a logging camp just on the outskirts of Conroe, Texas. The Gray family later moved to Huntsville, Texas, where he attended Sam Houston University. Mr. Gray served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, and he was a member of The Masons Society. The family then moved to Texas City where he worked for 35 years for Union Carbide.

Mr. Gray passed away at his home on Sunday, July 8, 2012, in Goodrich, Texas, after a long illness. He was a member of United Methodist Church of Goodrich.

Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his father, Ben G. “Pappy” Gray; his mother, Myrtie Ola Gray; two sisters, Ruth Bell and Mildred Graves; his adoring wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Gray; and his beloved daughter, Laura Jean. Survivors include his brother, Ben Gray of Paris, Texas; his sons, William Dean Gray of Tyler, Texas, and David Lynn Gray of Katy, Texas; granddaughter, Marissa Elyse Gray; grandsons, Justin Davis Gray, William Travis Gray, Sean Ryan Gray and Dylan James Gray; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas.

Funeral Services for William “Pete” Gray, age 87 of Goodrich, Texas, will be held at 10: AM on Friday, July 13, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Dr. Don Willis and Rev. Pam Howard will conduct the services. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston.

Charlotte was born on March 29, 1953, in Malvern, Arkansas to parents, Wilburn Clement Taylor and Agnes (Shempert) Taylor. She passed away on July 7, 2012, at her residence in Onalaska, Texas.

Charlotte was married to Ricky Yates, who preceded her in death, along with her parents, Wilburn and Agnes Taylor; sister, Peggy Cronk; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Aaron and Nancy Yates.
