Ira Prentis Cain

Ira Prentis Cain born on September 12, 1910 to Peter and Molly Warren in Segno, Texas went to be with his Lord on November 13, 2012 in Livingston, Texas at the age of 102 years.

Ira is survived by his sons, Charles P. “Mike” Cain and wife Sondra Hulin, Emery “Buddy” Cain and wife Susan Jordan; grandchildren, Brian Cain, Hunter Cain, Paul C. Cain and wife Tanya, and Kimberleigh Lewis and husband Tray; great grandchildren, Diana Cain, Jordan Cain, Colin Cain, Wade Cain and Ashleigh Cain; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Ira was preceded in death by both his parents, his loving wife Ollie; daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Floria Mae; ten brothers and sisters.

Ira was famous for his gardening and loved to fellowship with his friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 5-9PM at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. A Celebration of Ira’s Life will be on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10 AM at Pace Funeral Home with Bro. Mitchell Murphy officiating. Interment icon will follow at Magnolia Hill cemetery in Segno, Texas.

Doris Dilleshaw

Memorial Services for Doris Dilleshaw, 88, of Diboll, Texas, will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Chaplin Bob Harbuck officiating.

Mrs. Dilleshaw was born September 27, 1924 in Galveston, Texas and passed away Monday, November 12, 2012 in Diboll, Texas. She was a homemaker all her life and loved her family. She loved to sing and would sing with artist like George Jones, Ernest Tubbs and Buck Owens on the radio. She also enjoyed camping, cooking, bingo, and crabbing. She is preceded in death by her parents: Fuller Marvin Cole and Birdie (Devintier) Cole; husband: Billy P. Dilleshaw.

She is survived by her sons: Elvie “Buddy” Tyler and wife Carolyn of Colmesneil, Texas, Rick Dilleshaw and wife Lilly of Houston, Texas; daughter: Patsy Y. Fisher of Chester, Texas; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Milton Warren Celestine
November 28, 1940-November 10, 2012

Milton Warren Celestine, age 71, of Livingston was born on November 28, 1940 in Livingston to his parents, Gus B. Celestine and Flenchie (Boatman) Celestine and passed away on November 10, 2012 in Livingston. He was a member of the Celestine Brothers Gospel for 60 Years. He enjoyed Hunting and Fishing, but; his main passion was singing Southern Gospel with his brothers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Flenchie (Boatman) Celestine; brother, Gus B. Celestine, Jr. and his sister, Clarine Breaux-Florence Robinson.

Milton is survived by his daughters, Mandy Celestine, of Beaumont and Kay Celestine and fiancé, Jamie McGuire, of Burke; grandchildren, Mikayla Frances Sudduth and Haley Michele Sudduth; special friend, Mildred Celestine, of Burke; brothers, Charles B. Celestine and wife, Hazel, of Kountze, Wesley Celestine and wife, Barbara, of Chester; his dog, Blue; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Visitation will begin for Milton Warren Celestine at 5:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston and a wake service will begin at 6:00 PM, also at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston and Rev. Lo Lo Garza will officiate.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston with Rev. Lo Lo Garza officiating the services. Interment icon will follow the services in the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob Robinson, David Celestine, Jimmy Robinson, Curley Robinson, Neal Leach and William Robinson.

The Home Going Celebration service for Gwendolyn Ann Freeman, 59, of Corrigan, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2012 in the Lilly Island Missionary Baptist Church in Camden, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas.Mrs. Freeman was born October 5, 1953 in Corrigan, Texas and passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 in Lufkin, Texas. She was a loving mother and homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents: Felix and Gussie Josey; step-mother: Delma Josey; sister: Thelma Hulette; brothers: Carl Jenkins and George Duran; son: Rickey R. Freeman.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories her big brother: Robin Josey (Helen) of Lufkin, Texas; son: Bruce Freeman of Corrigan, Texas; daughter: Delma Freeman-Walker (Clifford) of Corrigan, Texas; 10 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Carol Lee Grubbs Naquin

Carol Lee Grubbs Naquin, born June 29, 1944, to J.W. and Imogene Grubbs in Concord, Texas and passed away November 10, 2012 in Livingston, Texas.

Carol, known to most as “Ms. Carol, Nanny, or Nonie, ” lived the majority of her life in Rye, Texas. For someone to be known by so many endearments, she was a very amazing lady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Imogene Grubbs, and her sister and brother-in-law, Billie Jean and John Nixon. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Glenda Grubbs, of Alvin, sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Sherry Levy, of Rye and Ben and Carla Levy, of Wills Point. Daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Stephen Ford, of Livingston. Grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Amanda Levy, of Rye, Christopher Levy, of Metcalf, Stephanie and husband, Jeremy Lindley, of Livingston, Richard Lawson, of Votaw, Chelisa Levy, of Cypress, Blake Hill, of Wills Point, Emily Levy, of Wills Point, Kimi and Husband, Joey Sellers, of Dayton, Kristen Johnson, of Livingston, and Anthony Johnson, of Livingston, Keela Lee and Farrah Lee, of Tomball, nephew and wife, Sean and Sylvia Grubbs, of Alvin, niece and husband, Dena and Bruce, of Friendswood, nephew and wife, John and Sue Nixon. Numerous great grandchildren, grand nephews, and nieces. She is also survived by many great friends, and many that she considered “adopted kids.”

She attended business school in Austin, Texas. Afterwards she was a phlebotomist at John Sealy hospital in Galveston. After moving to Polk County area, she managed and opened many private clubs and a café, and for many years was a Co-owner of Down South Liquor in Rye, Texas.

Ms. Carol was known to all by her outgoing personality and giving soul. Everyone always knew exactly what she was thinking because she would tell you exactly what she thought. She was a teacher and inspiration to many. She was always there with a kind word, wise advice, or a smart comment. She would give you anything down to her last penny, but you better know that is got written down in her “little red book”. She was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston. Reception will follow at the Myte-Fine Café in Rye, Texas.

George Lloyd Dill
August 23, 1926 - November 7, 2012

George Lloyd Dill, age 86 of Goodrich, Texas, formerly of Houston, passed away peacefully at home on November 7, 2012, after a long battle with emphysema. He was born to Samuel Loid Dill and Thelma Henson Dill, on August 23, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He graduated Central High in Little Rock, Arkansas, attended Texas A&M and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in civil engineering. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. During his lifetime he worked in various types of commercial and industrial facilities, during which time he met and married Anna Nell Horn.

Left behind with loving memories is his wife Anna Nell Horn Dill; sons, Robert Dill, Lewis Dill and Elaine, Frank Dill and his wife Joan and children, Rachel, Rebecca, Miranda and Melissa; daughters, Sharon Dill Kerr and husband Jeff, children David, and Laura; Tissa Dill Tinkcom, children April Golding, Dawn Tinkcom and Summer Menzoni and her husband Pete; great-granddaughter, Hannah Golding; sister, Dorothy Mullen Oliver and husband Ralph; numerous nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his first wife Martha Ann Lewis and his father and mother.

A gathering of his family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of Goodrich, 1229 Loop 393, Goodrich, Texas 77335, at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to Goodrich Methodist Church, Polk County Mission Center, 707 S. Washington, Livingston, Texas 77351, or a charity of choice.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to Conroe Regional Hospital, 3rd Floor ICU and Heart to Heart Hospice for their excellent care during George’s illness.

Funeral Services for Roy Franklin Holder, age 79 of Cleveland, Texas will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston with Rev. Darrell Brown, Rev. Garfield Lamon and Bro. Gordon Langford officiating. Interment icon will follow at Menard Chapel cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Holder, Augustine Fiscal, Dwayne Pickering, David Isaacks, Michael Crowell, Dale Bianchi, Cody Hayden and Stoney Anderson. Visitation will be held Sunday evening beginning at 5:00 PM at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston.

Roy was born on November 28, 1932 in Palestine, Texas to parents, William and Nora Holder and passed away on November 9, 2012 in Kingwood, Texas. Roy is preceded in death by his parents, William and Nora Holder; first wife, Barbara Holder and daughter, Cheryl Goodwin.

Roy is survived by his wife, Jean (Morgan) Holder of Cleveland, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Susie Holder of Rye, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, John and Robbie Holder of Sheffield, Alabama; daughter, Sandra Kindle of Jasper, Texas; daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Gordan Langford of Cleveland, Texas; daughter, Mary Marshall of Humble, Texas; daughter, Kathleen Frankie of Humble, Texas; son, Bill Sonier of Houston, Texas; son-in-law, Beamon Goodwin of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Iva Hagey of Cleveland, Texas; Grandchildren: Ryan Holder, Justin Holder, Cody Hayden, Keith Crowell, Mark Crowell, Michael Crowell, Dwayne Pickering, Theresa DeWitt, John Isaacks, David Isaacks, Stephen Marshall and Cynthia Marshall; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Leon L. Kerr

Leon L. Kerr born on January 15, 1940 to Albert and Lillie Galloway Kerr in Leggett, Texas passed away on November 9, 2012 in Livingston, Texas at the age of 72.

Leon is survived by son, Darrel Wayne Kerr; daughters, Sharon Kerr Dabney, Rose Hodges, Thelma Rene Hickman, Lisa Crawford, Donna Tomlinson and Dianna Thiel (Special Daughter); Brother, Albert Mark Kerr; Sisters, Edna Gaston and Ethel Vance; 16 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren. Leon was preceded in death by both his parents; loving wife Lora Ann Kerr; daughter, Leah Ann Loehr Kerr.

Leon attended Leggett Baptist Church in Leggett, Texas. Visitation will be Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas from 5-9 PM. A Celebration of Leon’s Life will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Pace Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Thompson officiating. Pallbearers will be Roy McNiel, Brian Hickman, Rocky Coward, Wiley Meadows, Brandon Gaston, and Robert Boaen. Interment icon will follow at Rice cemetery.

George Lloyd Dill
August 23, 1926 to November 7, 2012

George Lloyd Dill, age 86 of Goodrich, Texas, passed away on November 7, 2012 at his home in Goodrich. Mr. Dill was born on August 23, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Betty Ruth “Ogden” Hance
August 1, 1940 to November 6, 2012

Funeral service for Betty Ruth “Ogden” Hance, age 72 of Lufkin, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Dr. Gary Richardson will conduct the services. Interment icon will be held at Camp Ruby cemetery in Polk County, Texas, following the chapel service. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday until service time.

Betty went through Heaven’s gates on Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. She is survived by the love of her life for fifty-three years, Wilburn Hance. They both grew up in Livingston, Texas, married there and then made their home in Lufkin, Texas, where they reared their two children. After becoming ill, they made their home in Brookeland, Texas, close to their daughter. Betty is also survived by her son, Rayburn Hance and daughter-in-law, Tina of Lufkin; daughter, Cecily Bridges and son-in-law, Randy of Brookeland; two grandsons, Marshall Grantham Hance and Morgan Trevor Hance of Lufkin, whom she adored; brother, Henry Birdell Ogden of Colmesneil; four sisters, Fannie Pearl Holden of San Antonio, Brenda Kay Kelso and Ella Mae Smelley, both of Livingston, and Ruby Jewel Loftin of Onalaska. She is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Ogden and Maggie Jewel Johnson Ogden; four brothers, Bertley Riley Ogden, Johnson Curtis Ogden, Charles Lee Ogden and Billy Ray Ogden; three half sisters, Vida Williams, Anna Hunnicutt and Lourena Kitchens; and two half brothers, Frank Ogden and Bordal Pinter Ogden.

Betty enjoyed treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift stores with her daughter, Cecily. She was a devoted Elvis fan all her life. Her grandson Marshall was born on Elvis’s birthday and has grown up to assist his dad as an Elvis entertainer along with other grandson, Morgan as their music technician. They use this talent to help raise money, in her honor, for the American Cancer Society.

She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Hudson, Texas, and was a visiting member of Rayburn Baptist Church in Brookeland, Texas. Betty courageously battled brain cancer for almost eight years and was surrounded by the love of her family and friends throughout these years.

Contributions in her honor can be made to Lakes Area Hospice, Jasper, Texas or Cancer Care Co-payment Assistance Foundation online.

Georgia Ballinger Vanya

Georgia Ballinger Vanya was born August 24, 1915 in Saratoga, Texas to Newton and Mary Margaret Pletcher Ballinger, she went to be her Lord November 6, 2012 in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 97.

Georgia was a member of the Schwab City Baptist Church since 1957, where she loved serving the Lord. She served as secretary of the Thelma Miller Sunday School class and served as Church secretary and Treasurer for eight years. She helped with VBS activities and refreshments with Laura (W.C.) Munson for many years in the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s. She was a choir member until 1984. Georgia was a school bus driver for Hardin ISD, Anahuac ISD, Livingston ISD and worked in the Anahuac ISD cafeteria. She was a dedicated worker in whatever she set her hand to, whether working in a grocery store or for the school districts. She loved cooking, gardening, fishing, shrimping, quilting, sewing and playing dominoes (42 and 80), but she loved her family most of all.Georgia is survived by daughter, Dorothy Louise Vanya Corley and husband Lee, of Livingston; two daughters-in-law; Betty Vanya of Livingston and Jean Vanya of Santa Fe, Tx; 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John David Vanya; three sons, Jim Larkin Vanya Sr., John Milton Vanya Sr., Joe Robert Vanya; six brothers and five sisters.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, Sat. Nov. 10, 2012 at Pace Funeral Home with a celebration of Georgia’s life beginning at 1:00 PM. With Reverend Roland Coyle and Reverend David Jones officiating. Interment icon to follow at Blue Water cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Vanya, Jr, David Vanya, Sr. Allen Vanya, James Vanya, Sr., Doyle Corley, and William (Bill) Shotwell. Honorary Pallbearers will be great grandchildren.

The family request that: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Schwab City Baptist Church, or Lighthouse Hospice in Livingston, Texas.
