Carol Donaho
August 23, 1946 – June 9, 2013

Carol Donaho age 66 of Livingston, Texas, formerly of Houston passed away on June 9, 2013, in Livingston. She was born on August 23, 1946, in San Antonio, to parents, Rhea S. Nixon and Doris Crandall.

Carol Donaho: a devoted friend, mother, teacher and Texan Fan; a beautiful spirit, full of laughter and sincere kindness; a lover of animals, children and nature.

Watching Carol in action with her elementary children left you in a state of awe, as the children were either following her like a mother duck or surrounded her awaiting the next humorous story. She touched the lives of thousands of children, whom to this day will remember her favorite saying when times get tough, “Remember 3 good things.”

Carol shared an uncommon spirit with everyone she came in contact with, that focused on “making their day.” No matter the troubles or pain she carried, that would be tucked away, to perform an act of kindness all the while with a smile on her face.

Since their inception, Carol’s beloved Houston Texas became the love of her life. Her final days were made content amongst the décor of this #1 Fan’s, Texan Cave.

Fishing and life in the outdoors filled Carol’s daily life on Lake Livingston. Birds, flowers and plants befriended her and would soon be given a nickname. Sam, a resident egret, would arrive daily for his fill of fish and conservation. Year after year, Sam would return with baby birds in tow. Carol herself would have the nickname, “bird lady” bestowed upon her from those passing by. So, when you see a bird flying playfully and soaring through the sky, think of Carol and smile, for she is happy and watching over us.

Carol is survived by her friend, Elaine Wood, of Livingston, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Stephanie Donaho, of Houston, Texas; son, Chris Wood, of Los Angeles, California; grandson, Ja-Ra Wood; sister, Cindy Nixon, of San Antonio, Texas; grandson, Nicholas Donaho, of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Alexandra Donaho, of Houston, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
