Funeral services for James Esker “Dick” Taylor, 92, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. David Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 10:00 PM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014 and all day on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Taylor was born on June 20, 1921 in Polk County, Texas and passed away on January 4, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force and then worked in the oilfield during his lifetime. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Taylor; wife, Willie Mae Taylor; infant daughter, Carolyn Jean Taylor and infant son Taylor. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Taylor of Livingston, Texas; daughter, Carolyn Batten of Huntsville, Texas; daughter, Alice Tywater of Round Rock, Texas; sister, Laverne Schoubroek of Livingston, Texas; grandson, Larry “Bubba” Smith, Jr. of Cypress, Texas; grandson, Chad Tywater of Round Rock, Texas; granddaughter, Kayla Ladner of Gulfport, Mississippi; five great-granddaughters, three great-grandsons, two nieces, two great nephews; several other relatives and friends.

Dianne Lathan

Dianne Lathan, born in Carmona, Texas on February 1, 1923 to Everett Mills and Mae Rasberry Mills, passed away on January 3, 2014 at the age of 90. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Tommy Lathan and wife Nona; sister, June Sweeten; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Dianne is preceded in death by her husband William Cyrvin Lathan; both her parents; son, Carrol Raymond Elmore; grandson, Freddy Elmore; great-grandson, Rhett Cyrvin Lathan; brother, C.W. Mills and wife Eloise; sister, Billie Jean Bryant and husband Ross.

Visitation will be held at Pace Funeral Home 200 FM 350 North Livingston, Texas on Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Celebration of Dianne’s Life will be held at Pace Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Bro. Orval Barger officiating. Pallbearers will be Thomas Williamson, Garrett Williamson, James Everett Sweeten, Jeff Casey, Blake Casey, and Donald Fitzgerald. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Lathan, James Casey, Gary McDaniel and Donald Wilson. Interment icon will be at Carmona cemetery off FM 287 in Carmona Texas.

Johnny Peden

Funeral Services for Johnny Peden, 86, of Lufkin, TX, will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel in Corrigan, Texas with Rev. Elton Musick officiating. Burial to follow in Union Springs cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, from 6:00-9:00 P.M. in the Corrigan Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Peden was born February 26, 1927 in Lufkin, Texas and went to be with his Lord and surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Lufkin Memorial Hospital.

Johnny enjoyed being a logger, working in his yard, loved to ride the back roads and listen to classic old country music. His favorite animals, casper and sassy!

He served in World War II in the Army and Air Force earning three medals.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 14 years, Myrtle; children, James and Terri Peden of Coldspring, TX, Larry Wayne Peden of Groveton, TX, Jerry and Tecea Peden of Hudson, TX, Janice and Rodney McDaniel of Pollok, TX, Phyllis and Vechel Renfro of Lufkin, TX, Joyce and Cecil Riddles of Gilmer, TX, Johnnie Mae and Amos Fredergill of Huntington, TX; step children, Betty and A.J. Ramos of Houston, TX, Charles G. Davis of Watervally, MS, Michael P. Davis of Humble, TX, Randy McBride of Lufkin, TX, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends who will miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Mae Peden; parents Walter and Rosette Peden; brothers, Dallas Peden and Charles Peden.

Pallbearers: Jacob Fredregill, Jeremy Peden, Chris Fredregill, James Peden, Ronnie Peden and Bo Chandler.

Milton E. Lee
March 20, 1938 – February 5, 2014

Funeral services for Milton E. Lee, 75, of Livingston, Texas, will be held Sunday, February 9, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Harold Isaacs, Rev. Dean Boyd, and Bro. Glen Price officiating. Interment icon will follow in the Jones Prairie cemetery in Leggett, Texas. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Milton was born on March 20, 1938 in Liberty, Texas to Ellen Moulder Lee and Ike Lee and died on February 5, 2014 in Livingston surrounded by his loving family. He spent most of his childhood in New Willard with his Uncle E.S. (Bud) Swilly and Aunt Melissa Lee Swilly. This is where is realized his love of raising cattle, which became his lifelong vocation. He was a man of many talents. He and his family bailed hay commercially for many years all throughout Polk County. He maintained 2 community water systems during this time as well. He owned and operated Lee’s Farm & Ranch Supply, a community feed store where friends and neighbors not only bought feed, but congregated on a regular basis to visit. He was always fascinated with airplanes and dreamed of flying. This dream was realized in the mid 1980’s, when he completed flight school and bought a Cessna 150 in which he mastered the art of flying. He thrilled family, friends and neighbors with frequent impromptu flights. He was also a master mechanic and could repair any piece of equipment he owned. He was well known and respected throughout the area. During his life many a young man was heard to describe Milton Lee as their hero. He was a loving husband and father with a family who adored him.

Milton is survived by Anna Mae, his devoted wife of 56 years; his son, Bryan Lee and Misty; daughter, Nancy Martin and husband Mike; daughter, Lana Nettles and Jay Parker; daughter, Rachael Hiser and husband Steve; grandchildren, Jenny and Melissa Lee, Anja Schoenenberger, Jared Nettles and wife Amanda, Matthew Nettles, Crystal Riley, Meagan Baxter and husband Daniel, Jamie Rocha and husband Nicholas, Sam and Hannah Hiser; 10 great grandchildren; as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Surviving siblings include brothers, Elbert Lee and wife Patricia of Livingston, Texas, Joe Lee and wife Billie of Hull, Texas; sisters, Cheryl West of Coldspring, Texas, and Lou Lee of Dallas, Texas. Milton is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Donna Reeves.

Pallbearers will be Mike Martin, Jay Parker, Steve Hiser, Jared Nettles, Matthew Nettles, and Chet Lee.

Glenn Allen Matthews
May 30, 1955 – February 2, 2014

Funeral services for Glenn Allen Matthews, 58, of Conroe, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas.

Mr. Matthews was born on May 30, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, Doyle Matthews and Gladys (Allen) Matthews, and passed away on February 2, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas. He was employed with Hewlett-Packard as an operations manager. He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Karen “Hon” Matthews of Conroe, Texas; sons, Ryann Matthews of Plano, Texas and Seann Matthews of Lubbock, Texas; stepson, Travis Brackin of Conroe, Texas; stepdaughter, Shelley Garland and husband Chad of Conroe, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Wesley and Delphia Matthews of Elgin, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Don Sueltenfuss of San Antonio, Texas, Rhonda and Gene Daniel of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchild, Jackson Garland; a host of nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Emma Jo Carr
May 19, 1930 – February 5, 2014

Memorial services for Emma Jo Carr, 83, of Crosby, Texas, will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas with Bro. Matthew Ellis and Bro. Daniel Ellis officiating. A private graveside service was held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Nettles cemetery in Livingston, Texas.

Mrs. Carr was born on May 19, 1930 in Livingston, Texas and passed away on February 5, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas. She was a homemaker and church secretary for First Baptist Church Channelview where she was also a member. She is preceded in death by her mother, Iris Lee Nettles; husband, Berlin Carr; son, Stephen Carr.

She is survived by her daughter, Twyla Ellis of Crosby, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Carr, Daniel Ellis, Matthew Ellis, Benjamin Ellis; great grandchildren, Aubrey, River, Emily, Lily, Laurel, Madilyn Grace; sister, Mary Widner of Channelview, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

James Waymire
May 6, 1953 – February 3, 2014

James Waymire, 60, of Carlisle, Texas, was born on May 6, 1953 in Houston, Texas, to parents, Albert William and Gladys (Blaylock) Waymire and passed away on February 3, 2014 in Trinity, Texas.

Mr. Waymire is survived by his wife, Martha Waymire of Carlisle, Texas; daughters, Dianna Gregor and Jimmie Moore, both of Livingston, Texas; son, Morris Rushing of Grand Junction, Colorado; grandchildren, Mitchell, Clinton, Karen “Charlie”, Callie, Dustie, Brandon, Jason, Christopher, and Tabatha; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene Williams of Pasadena, Texas; brother, Earl Waymire of Temple, Texas; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Elden Buell Mayo

Eldon Buell Mayo born on May 9, 1933 in East Afton, Texas to Franklin Vance Mayo and Mary Jane Bradley Mayo, went to be with his Lord, on January 29, 2014 at the age of 80. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 58 years, Anna Janell Hobbs Mayo; daughters, Dianna Lynn Van Tassell and husband David, Christine Silhan and husband Mark; son, Jearl Don Mayo and wife Melea; numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Eldon is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters; and three brothers; great grandchild, Braiden Mainor. Eldon and Janell have been in this community since 1981. Eldon worked for Harris County road and bridge for 25 years. He proudly served in the United States Army. Eldon loved his Heavenly Father and all his babies very much. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Pace Funeral Home 200 FM 350 North, Livingston, Texas 77351. A Celebration of Eldon’s life will be at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Schwab City Baptist Church, 10998 Hwy 146 South in Livingston, Texas. Pastor David Jones will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Vance (Bubba) Atkinson, John Gasaway, Travis Silhan, Jeremy Mayo, Bo Powers, and Matt Tinney. Honorary pallbearers are the Marsh Kimes Class at Schwab City Baptist Church. Interment icon will follow at Romayor cemetery off 2610 in Romayor, Texas. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association East Texas Regional Office, 304 N. Raguet, Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

Glenn Allen Matthews
May 30, 1955 – February 2, 2014

Darlene was born on January 22, 1951 in Livingston, Texas and passed away on February 2, 2014 in Houston, Texas. She worked as a Radiology Technician for Memorial Hermann Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lois Martin and Evelyn Florene (Hendrix) Whisenhant; and brother, William Whisenhant.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Mathisen of Houston, Texas; sons, Richard Mathisen of Houston, Texas and Kris Mathisen of Windsor, New York; brother and sister-in-law, Bert and Mary Ellen Whisenhunt of Livingston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Marvin Taylor of Livingston, Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Marvin Ray of Houston, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Easter Lilly Thorne Young Harrison, age 88, of Corrigan, formerly or the Helmic Community completed her earthly journey and went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 3, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of the Groveton Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00AM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 in the Cartwright Memorial Chapel of Groveton Funeral Home with Bro. Jim McDonald officiating. Burial will be a private service.

Lilly was born on April 12, 1925 to her parents, Duron Thorne, Sr. and Clara (Jones) Thorne in Trinity County, Texas. She belonged to Church of Christ and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Dennis Young and Gervis Harrison; two brothers, C.W. Thorne and Leggett Thorne; daughter, Janet Dover; grandson, Shaun Wesley Young. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Martha Young, of Livingston, Texas; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Harbuck, of Lufkin, Texas; sister, Patsy Hoagland, of Mobil, Alabama; sister, Jeanette Thorne, of Hudson, Texas; sister, Martha Tullos of Huntsville, Texas; brother, Duron Thorne, Jr., of Groveton, Texas; sister, Betty Lawson, of Hudson, Texas; brother, Feddie Thorne, of Groveton, Texas; son-in-law, Ernest Dover, of Trinity, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, also survive.

May 31, 1928 – February 1, 2014

Funeral services for Dennis Earl Ryan, 85, of Livingston, Texas, will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas with Rev. Mike Meadows officiating. Military Honors will be provide by VFW Honor Guard Post #8568. Interment icon will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Grandview Memorial Park cemetery in Pasadena, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at Cochran Funeral Home.

Mr. Ryan was born on May 31, 1928 in Coffeyville, Kansas and passed away on February 1, 2014 in Lufkin, Texas. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, was an avid history buff, and loved to travel with family on vacations. He retired in 1992 from Rohm & Haas. He was a member of the Lion’s Club, Gideon’s, and also of the Loyalty Sunday School Class at Central Baptist in Livingston, Texas. He made several mission trips to México with his wife and son, Michael. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leo O. Ryan and Iva Mary (Anderson) Ryan; wife, Barbara Ryan; and brother, Bruce Leo Ryan.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Wilma Ryan of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Gary Cunningham of San Augustine, Texas; daughter, Sarah Ryan of Kyle, Texas; son and fiancé, Timothy Ryan and Chonthicha Howell of Pasadena, Texas; sister, Beverly Dienes of Defuniak Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Julianne and Jonathan Hoy, Brandy and Richard Gilberton, Cheri Ryan and Jerry Jones, David and Courtney Cunningham, John and Rebecca Cunningham, and Jenifer Howell; great-grandchildren, Izabella Hoy, Sawyer Hoy, and Zoye Jones; nephew, Steve and Edwina Dienes of Great Falls, Montana; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
