Arlene Faye Agnew
1934-2002
Services for Arlene Faye Agnew, 68, of Seminole, were held Friday, April 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lonny Poe officiating. Burial followed in Gaines County Cemetery South under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.She died Wednesday, April 3, at Memorial Hospital following an illness.

1st Lt. James Larry Hull
1945-1971
1st LT. James Larry Hull, recipient of the Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, Purple Heart, and nine Air Medals, will be honored on November 13th at 9:00 am with a funeral service at the Old Fort Myer Chapel. Immediately following, he will be buried icon with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Hull graduated from Texas Tech University and received his Wings at Reese Air Force Base. A reception for friends and family will follow at the Women’s Memorial at Arlington Cemetery. An assembly room is assigned for friends and family for each
service. The receptionist will direct you to the appropriate room. The Administrative Representative and the Chaplain will come to this room to meet with the next of kin about 30 minutes before the start of the service. The Administrative Representative will announce when friends and family should go to their cars and assemble in front of the Administrative Building. From there, the Representative will lead the procession to the gravesite, columbarium, or as appropriate to the caisson transfer point, and then to the interment site. For services originating from Fort Myers Old Post Chapel, friends and family gather at the designated chapel on the base. The family will be directed to the family room to meet with the Administrative Representative and Chaplain about 30 minutes prior to the service. After the chapel service, the procession will follow the caisson by foot or car to the gravesite or columbarium for the graveside service.

Chlorea Vickers Sooter
1932-2006
Chlorea Vickers Sooter, 74, of Anton passed away Wednesday, October 11 at her residence. She was born July 28, 1932 to Albert A. and Nellie Mae (Glenn) Vickers in Clairemont.
She graduated from Seminole High School in 1949. She was
an artist and a Baptist by faith. Chlorea is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters and one brother.
Survivors are one son, Scott Sooter and wife, Sharon of Anton; one daughter, Banay Newton and husband, Lehman of Midland; and six grandchildren, Sarah, Phillip, Adam, Kiersten, Maggie and Madison. Memorial services were held Saturday, October 14 at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock followed by graveside services at Clairemont Cemetery with Rev. Walter Goodnight officiating. Arrangements were under the personal care of White Funeral Home.

Damon Robert Underwood
1967-2006
Damon Robert Underwood passed away Friday, October 13, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born May 23, 1967. He is survived by loving friends and family. A memorial account has been set up to help defray funeral costs at National Bank
of Andrews, PO Box 629, Andrews, Texas 79714. Acct. #539848-Barbara Underwood Special Account. Memorial Services are pending.

Oretta Mae Ball
1912-2001
Graveside services for Oretta Mae Ball, 88, of Longview, formerly of Seminole, were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (today), May 2 at Gaines County Cemetery South under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home. Visitation was from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Rader Funeral Home of Longview, and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ratliff Funeral Home.
She died Sunday, April 29 in Longview.
Mrs. Ball was born October 7, 1912 in Union City, Oklahoma. She was retired from the Seminole Independent School District and was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of first United Methodist Church in Seminole and the Holy Trinity Congregational Church in Longview. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Ball and a brother, Garrett Anderson.
Survivors include three daughters, Leota Allen of Apple Valley, California, Loretta Sherard of Hallsville and Lola Stiles of Longview; two sisters, Geneva Newby of Waggoner, Oklahoma, and Elizabeth Brantley of Muskogee, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; and twelve great- grandchildren.

Dolores Cole
1960-2001
Services for Dolores Cole, 41, of Andrews, formerly of Seminole, were held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, April 30 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Timothy G. Chenault, pastor of Andrews Church of God, officiating. Burial followed in the Andrews West cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
She died Friday, April 27 at her residence in Andrews.
Mrs. Cole was born January 12, 1960 in Brownfield. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1978. She moved from Seminole to Andrews in 1979. She married Frank Cole on August 8, 1980 in Andrews. She had worked for Kirby West Vacuum Plant from 1979-2000. She was active in the Andrews Choir Booster Club. She was an active member of Andrews Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Cole of Andrews; two sons, Nathan and Ethan Cole, both of Andrews; her parents, Georgie and Ira Baze of Seminole; one sister, Patricia Reed of Seminole; one brother, Larry Baze of Hobbs, N.M.; and a host of friends and relatives.
The family suggests memorials be made to Andrews Church of God, c/o Youth Department, 858 East Broadway, Andrews, Texas 79714.

Valerie Frances Ortega
1984-2001
Rosary for Valerie Frances Ortega, 16, of Tucumcari, N.M., sister of Michelle Dodd of Seminole, was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday in St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Tucumcari, N.M. Mass was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 in the church with Rev. John C. Daniel officiating. Burial followed in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Dunn Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, April 25.
Valerie was born September 12, 1984, in Tucumcari. She was a sophomore at Tucumcari High School and was active in sports.
Survivors include her parents, DeClora and Robert Ortega of Tucumcari; four sisters, Vanessa Ortega and Sandy Carmichael, both of Tucumcari, Michelle Dodd of Seminole, and Misty Dodd of Lubbock; three brothers, Marshall Ortega and Eric Rojo, both of Tucumcari, and John Paul Martinez of Dimmitt; and grandparents, Olympia Welch of Tucumcari and Joe Ortega of Dimmitt.

Linda Sue Gallant
1953-2002
Services for Linda Sue Gallant, 49, of Denver City, adoptive daughter of Gen and Ben Smith of Seminole, will be held Thursday, July 25, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ronnie Lunsford officiating. Burial will follow in Denver City Memorial Park under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. She died Monday, July 22, at her residence in Denver City following an illness.

Lillian Langehennig
1911-2002
Services for Lillian Langehennig, 90, of Seagraves, were held Monday, July 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Seagraves with the Rev. L. D. Hinson officiating. Burial followed in Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors. She died July 19, in Lubbock.

Ester Espinoza Perez
1929-2002
Funeral mass for Ester Espinoza Perez, 73, of Seagraves, was held Tuesday, July 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Seagraves with Father Reynaldo Reyes officiating. Burial followed in the Seagraves Cemetery under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. She died Saturday, July 20, at her residence following an illness.

Vonnie Pippin
1935-2002
Services for Vonnie Pippin, 67, of Amarillo, sister of Dr. E. M. Wright of Seminole, were held Tuesday, July 23, at 10:00 a.m. in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with Scott Greer, pastor of the church, officiating. Entombment followed in Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. She died Saturday, July 20.

Elizabeth Kathryn Billingsley
1911-2002
Graveside services for Elizabeth Kathryn Billingsley, 91, of Seminole, were held Tuesday, December 3, at 2 p.m. at Gaines County Cemetery South with Don Fleming officiating. Services were under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mrs. Billingsley died Sunday, December 1, at Plainview Health Care Center following an illness.
She was born February 20, 1911 in Waco and married C.L. Billingsley December 23, 1933 in Lamesa. She was a bookkeeper and a member of Westside Church of Christ in Seminole. She had lived in Seminole since 1965.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 30, 1997 and by one son, Gary Billingsley on November 30, 1997.
Survivors include, one son, Neil Billingsley and his wife, Doris of Plainview; one sister, Ruth Qualls of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Dawn West and Biff Billingsley of Amarillo, Russell Billingsley of Keller and Leslie Warstler of McKinney; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorials to the Portales, New Mexico Children’s Home.

Jewell (Fidge) Cravy
1913-2002
Services for Jewell (Fidge) Satterwhite Cravy, 89, of Seminole were held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, October 9) at the West Side Church of Christ with David Williams officiating. Burial was at 4 p.m. today in Terrace Cemetery in Post under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home of Post.
Mrs. Cravy Died Monday, October 7, at Heritage Oaks in Lubbock.
She was born April 4, 1913 in Plains and moved with her family as a small child to Garza County. She graduated from Post High School and Draughn’s Business College. During World War II, she worked in Men’s Enlisted Personnel at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. She married Bill Cravy in 1938 in Post and they moved to Seminole in June 1946. She lived here until recently, when she moved to Lubbock. She had served as president of the Seminole Study Club, as well as the Seminole Garden Club and also served as chairman of the Wild Flower Committee of Gaines County. Mrs. Cravy was also a member of Seminole Eastern Star Chapter No. 855 and was a past Worthy Matron.
Mrs. Cravy was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in January of 1992; a brother, J.W. Satterwhite Sept. 25, 2000; and three sisters, Octavia Thompson on Sept. 27, 1987, Eltie Satterwhite on May 15, 1918 and Trevah Satterwhite on July 30, 1920.
Survivors include, one sister, Vada McCampbell of Post; three nephews, Gary Satterwhite of Lubbock, James Satterwhite of Keller and Jerry Don McCampbell of Roswell, New Mexico; and two nieces, Lois Lawrence of Ransom Canyon and Judy Bush of Post.
The family suggests memorials to the Christian Life Church of Lubbock or a favorite charity.

Dominga Vargas
1930-2002
Rosary for Dominga Alvarado Vargas, 72, of Seminole was said Sunday, October 6, at 7 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Seminole with Father Ronaldo Reyes officiating. Burial was in Gaines County Cemetery south, under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Seminole.
Mrs. Vargas died Friday, October 4.
She was born May 10, 1930 in Alamo to Luciano and Juanita Alvarado. She married Carlos G. Vargas in 1953 in Mission. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Carlos; six sons, Juan Joe and Bo, all of Andrews, Steve and Carlos, Jr., both of Seminole and Israel of Greeley, Colorado; five daughters, Maria Vargas, Yolanda Vargas and Oralia Ramirez, all of Greeley, Colorado, Luciola Vargas of Midland and Imelda Chavez of Seminole; one brother, Gilbert Alvarado of Seminole; a sister, Enriqueta Rodriquez of Reynosa, Mexico; 29 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
