Mildred Louise Hamilton
1913-2000
Graveside service for Mildred Louise Hamilton, 87, of Decatur was held Friday, Dec. 1, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. The Revs. Rusty Hedges and Jerry Miller officiated. She died Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Decatur.
Born Oct. 20, 1913, in Heidenheimer, Texas, she was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include daughters Kathy Cunnius of Decatur and Penny Holt of Powell, Wyo.; two brothers Malcolm Green of Temple and Fred Green of Belton; and a sister, Margaret Dean of Temple. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Brandon and Brent Kelton, Ryan Cunnius, Justin Holt and Logan Holt and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Tommy Cunnius and Clyde Holt, III, and grandsons Brandon and Brent Kelton, Ryan Cunnius and Justin Holt.
Memorials may be made to the Oaklawn Cemetery or the First United Methodist Church.

Loland C. ‘Tad’ Hale
1927-2000
Service for Loland C. “Tad” Hale, 73, of Cottondale was Friday, Dec. 1, in the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa. The Rev. Griffin Jones officiated. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Hale died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Decatur.
Born Nov. 23, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., he moved to Odessa in 1937 and to Cottondale in 1997. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1944. He married Wanda Ruth Grimes in November of 1950. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medical corpsman at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda, in 1959; his parents, Raymond and Blanche Hale and two brothers, Thomas Wilson and Bob Hale.
He is survived by one son, Glenn Hale and his wife Becky of Paradise; three daughters, Beth Cox and her husband Mickey of Grand Junction, Colo., Lanette Davis and her husband Bill of Midland and Landra Priestly of San Antonio; one sister, Sharlene Wagner and husband R.G. of Odessa; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.

Norine Holt
1921-2000
Service for Norine Holt, 79, of Bridgeport, was to be Sunday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport. Rev. Joe Motsenbocker was to officiate. Burial was to follow at the East Bridgeport Cemetery.
Holt died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000 in Decatur.
Born April 14, 1921 in Wise County, she was a lifetime resident of Wise County. She married Royce Holt on Aug. 22, 1953 in Bridgeport and was a home-maker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Paradise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Holt, on Aug. 22, 1991.
She is survived by her sons, Tommy Sims and wife Donna and Bobby Holt and wife Sharon; her daughters, Kay Roberts and husband Donald, Loyce Lowery and friend Charles Shankle and Reba Bradley and husband Wayne; her brother, Billy Phillips and wife Bonnie; 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were to be Greg Lowery, Chris Lowery, Money Roberts, Allen Holt, Corey Sims and David Jenkins.

John B. Herndon
1937-2000
Service for John B. Herndon, 63, of Bridgeport was Friday, Dec. 1, at the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport. Rev. Johnny Irish officiated.
Herndon died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2000, in Decatur.
Born Oct. 6, 1937 in Graham, he was a life-time resident of Bridgeport and was a self-employed businessman. He married Deborah Jean Nikkel on Feb. 14, 1973, in Denver, Colo.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Jean, of Bridgeport; three sons, Rev. Johnny Herndon and wife Keri of Canon City, Colo., Drew Herndon and wife Diane of Pueblo West, Colo. and Kevin Herndon and wife Michelle of Bridgeport; a daughter, Pamela Donison and husband Brian of Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Fredda Gill of Roanoke, Va., Judy Healer of Dallas and Paula Reid of Dallas; 12 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna Marie Wilhite
1921-2000
Service for Anna Marie Wilhite, 79, of Jackson, Miss., was held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, in Jackson.
She was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Decatur and married Windle Fred Wilhite in 1940. He preceded her in death in May, 1993. She had lived in Brandon, Miss., for many years. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Brandon.
Survivors include one son, Ronald Burton Wilhite and wife Paula Ann of Saint Joe, La.; one daughter, Beverly Ann Quick and husband Charles of Collins, Miss. and four grandchildren.
Seth Steve Watson
1919-2001
Service for Seth Steve Watson, 81, of Denton, was Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Welch Street Church of Christ in Denton. Terry Collins officiated. Burial followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Watson died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, in Denton.
Born April 2, 1919, in Wise County to Steve Henry and Cora McDaniel Watson, he married Frances Herndon on Dec. 5, 1942, in Austin. She preceded him in death on Dec. 25, 1994.
He attended public schools and the University of North Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a retired groceryman and owned and operated Seth’s Drive Inn Grocery. He served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in both World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Lowe of Denton and Elizabeth Strange of Alvord, two nieces and two nephews.

Grace C. Luttrell
1930-2001
Service for Grace C. Luttrell, 70, of Decatur was Monday, Feb. 5 at Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. The Rev. Jerry Miller officiated. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur.
Pallbearers were John Benedict, Bobby Braddish, Robert Gage, Biff Hayes, Rowdy Lisby and Brett Shannon.
Luttrell died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Decatur.
Born Dec. 24, 1930, in Opp, Ala. she married James E. Luttrell on Jan. 28, 1956, in Collins, Miss. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Decatur.
She is survived by her husband, James B. Luttrell of Decatur; her father, W.F. Cawthon of Opp; two sons, Winford Hammonds and Jimmy D. Luttrell of Decatur; a daughter, Teresa Quested of Rhome; two brothers, Willard Cawthon of Florida and Henon Cawthon of Alabama; two sisters, Doris Allen and Marrie Stokes of Florida; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce J. Burchfield
1939-2001
Graveside service for Joyce J. Burchfield, 61, of Weatherford was Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.
Burchfield died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, in Fort Worth.
Born Feb. 10, 1939, in Fort Worth, she is survived by her husband, Dale Burchfield of Weatherford; two daughters, Julie Hale of Bridgeport and Sharon Burchfield of Winterport, Maine; a son, Mitchell Burchfield of Joshua; a brother, O.D. Cole; a sister, Betty Broadie and six grandchildren.

Carl Houston Bowman
1930-2001
Service for Carl Houston Bowman, 70, of Fallbrook, Calif. will be at a date and location to be determined. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery # 2 in Boyd.
Bowman died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, in Fallbrook.
Born Aug. 29, 1930, in Decatur and raised in Boyd, he was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, serving 20 years as an electronics technician. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired in 1985 after 17 years of federal civil service at Naval Weapons Station in Fallbrook. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1924 in Fallbrook.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mieko Bowman of Fallbrook; a son, Michael Bowman of Bonsall, Calif.; two sisters, Eddie Lee Souson of Boyd and Lucille Kennemer of Georgia and three grandchildren.

Frank Elbert Goode
1925-2001
Graveside service for Frank Elbert Goode, 75, of Alvord was to be Wednesday, Feb. 7 at New Hope Cemetery in Tarrant County. Gentry Castleman was to officiate.
Goode died Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, in Bridgeport.
Born June 2, 1925, in Floydada, he married Matha Faye Jeffcoat, who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, William, Aubry, Robert, Hoyt and Ray.
He is survived by his sons, Duwane Goode of Mt. Pleasant and David Goode of Bowie; two daughters, Martha Renner of Alvord and Elaine Burrell of Shirley, Ark.; two sisters, Jo Houser of Locksburg, Ark. and Ethel Hannom of Hot Springs, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Bertha Rosenzweig
1905-2001
Memorial service for Bertha Rosenzweig, 95, of Decatur was Tuesday, Feb. 6 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur. Graveside service followed at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Rosenzweig died Thursday, Feb.1, 2001, in Decatur.
She was born Aug. 11, 1905, in New York. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Rosenzweig, in 1965.
She is survived by nephews, nieces and friends.

James Wesley Sullivan, Sr.
1921-2001
Service for James Wesley Sullivan, Sr., 79, of Alvord was Monday, Feb. 5 at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Colleyville. The Rev. Bill Cleveland officiated. Burial followed at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Sullivan died Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at his home.
Born, Nov. 16, 1921, in Detroit to Loyd and Allie Sullivan, he served with the Navy Seabees during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post #10454 in Grapevine, the Disabled American Veterans, Sons of the Confederate Veterans, UAW Union #276 in Grand Prairie and the First Baptist Church of Alvord.
He is survived by his wife, Valta Lea Sullivan; a son, James Sullivan, Jr.; a daughter, Elizabeth Brister; two stepsons, Jack and John Strawn; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Margie Westmoreland
1911-2001
Graveside service for Margie Westmoreland, 89, of Alvord, was Sat., Feb. 3, in the Van Zandt County Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton. The Revs. Bill Cleveland and David Goodwin officiated.
She died Wed, Jan. 31, 2001, in Alvord.
Born July 25, 1911, in Van Zandt County, she was a nurses aid, a member of the Baptist church and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two sons, Charlie Westmoreland of Chicago, Ill., and W.R. Westmoreland of New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Katie Williams of Alvord; sister, Edna Fowler of Van; brother-in-law, Bascum Westmoreland of Fort Worth; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna Ruth Mercer Cannon
1920-2001
Graveside service for Anna Ruth Mercer Cannon, 80, of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Bridgeport, was Thursday, Feb. 1 in the Oddfellows Section of Lockesburg Cemetery.
Cannon died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at a hospice in De Queen, Ark.
Born Aug. 6, 1920, in Decatur to Francis Grover and Esta Opal Cannon Mercer, she was a homemaker and a Methodist.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Edward Cannon on Nov. 1, 1995.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and John Edwards of Chandler, Ariz.; one brother, Bill Mercer of Euless; one granddaughter, Jennifer Weisman of Ft. Steward, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jerry M. Smith
1951-2001
Graveside service for Jerry M. Smith, 49, of Galva, Ill., formerly of Alvord, was Saturday, Feb. 3, at the Hopewell Cemetery in Wise County.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, in Galesburg, Ill.
Smith was born May 26, 1951, in Henry County, Ill., and was a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Starla; his mother Evelyn Smith; a son, Will Turlington of Alvord; two daughters, Jennifer Dorsett of Boyd and Amy Turlington of Alvord; a half-brother, Gary Shull; two sisters, Dianne Smith and Joyce Reich; half-sister, Sandra Ingles; two grandchildren, Hanna Walden and Hailey Dorsett.

Victor Ronald ‘Ron’ Paschall
1934-2001
Service for Victor Ronald “Ron” Paschall, 67, of Bridgeport was Monday, April 2 at Hawkins Funeral Chapel in Bridgeport. The Revs. John Conway and Rudy Owens officiated. Burial followed at East Bridgeport Cemetery.
Paschall died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Azle.
Born Jan. 13, 1934, in Cottondale, he was a lifetime resident of Bridgeport. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired regional manager in the pipeline division of Lone Star Gas. He was a member of the Runaway Bay Baptist Church and was past president of the Springtown Optimist Club and Fort Worth Friendship RV club. He married Patsy Robertson on Nov. 17, 1978, in Colleyville.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Maurice and a sister, Sandra.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy D. Paschall; two sons, Anthony Dean Paschall and Weldon Bruce Paschall; three daughters, Beverly Ann Sharp and husband Art, Rhonda D. Esquivel and husband Lolly and Tamara G. Johnson and husband Randall; two brothers, Bill and Ralph Paschall; two sisters, Marilyn Davis and Margaret Wood; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Derl Lynn Robertson, Ricky Robertson, David Paschall, Phillip Martinez, Jeff Wood and David Wood.
