Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 30, 2002, at Jerusalem Baptist Church with Rev. A.S. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow at Mainland Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday March 29th from 4-8:00 p.m. at E R Johnson Family Mortuary. Linda was born September 9, 1948, in Galveston, Texas to the union of Damon and Elnora McNeese Johnson. She was a 1966 graduate of Central High School, former Matron with the Eastern Stars. She was a retired provider with MHMR and a member of Jerusalem where she served on the usher board. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, West and Charles Johnson. Miss Ursula H. Baulard, 96, youngest daughter of pioneer Galveston residents Victor Louis and Mary Ratto Baulard, passed into eternal life on Friday, January 18, 2002, at UTMB Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 23rd, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Frank Fabj as Celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Old Catholic Cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22nd, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM. Ursula was born May 22, 1905, in Galveston, Texas and was a lifelong resident of the island. She attended Ursuline Academy and graduated in the class of 1922. She was employed by the Texas Employment Commission for many years and later was a secretary for the Diocese of Galveston-Houston until her retirement in 1961. Ursula was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Miss Baulard is survived by her niece, Mrs. Patricia Baulard Garthar Parma and husband, Ben G. Parma, Sr., of Galveston; two great nieces: Angela M. Garcia, of Clear Lake and Rita M. Hesse, of Pearland; three great nephews: Ben G. Parma, Jr., of Mountainside, N. J., Andrew P. Parma of Houston; and George F. Parma of Clear Lake; and ten great great grand nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Daniel J. Garcia, John A. Hesse, George F. Parma, Andrew P. Parma, Ben G. Parma, Jr., and Jesse Coufal. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses or donations to a special charity. Dolores N. Beach 81, of La Marque, passed away Monday, December 9, 2002, at Kirkwood Manor Nursing Home in New Braunfels, Texas. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, December 12th, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father John Bok, OFM, as Celebrant. Burial will follow the service at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock. The family will receive visitors after 5:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6:30 PM. Dolores was born May 6, 1921, in Galveston, Texas. She graduated from Ball High School where she was Drum Major for the marching band. An avid dancer, Dolores opened her own dance studio with her sister, Thelma Ray, at the age of 16 where she taught dance to countless students in Galveston. She married her high school Sweetheart, George Beach, Jr., in the early 1940's and together they settled in La Marque to raise a family. When George was called away to serve during World War II, Dolores danced at the USO in Galveston for the many troops stationed here. Dolores and George's son Bobby passed away in 1955, and Dolores was instrumental in the construction of Bobby Beach Stadium in La Marque in her son's memory. She and George were also very involved with the building and opening of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in La Marque. Dolores retired from dancing in the mid 1950's and became actively involved in her community, serving as a member of the Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, the Rotary Club, and the JayCee-ettes. She also volunteered as a candy striper for Mainland Center Hospital. Upon her husband's death, Dolores assumed the role of president of Beach Construction Company until her retirement in 1992. Dolores loved to travel, taking many trips skiing and sightseeing with friends. Her most well-loved vacation spot was Cancun, where she spent numerous enjoyable weeks. She enjoyed ceramics, loved flowers, and doted on her grandchildren. She will live on in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her son, Bobby Beach; and her husband, George Beach, Jr. Dolores is survived by her sister, Thelma Ray Hammett and husband, Earl, of Arlington, TX ; son, George W. Beach, III, and wife, Beth, of New Braunfels, TX; and their children: Jennifer Cartwright and husband, John, and great grandson, Jake Cartwright; daughter, Debbie Wickett and husband, Steve, of Round Top, TX; and their children, Stephanie Kellenberger and husband, Rob; and Elizabeth Wickett and fianc e Bret McCoy; son, Richard Nicholas Beach and wife, Patti, of New Braunfels, TX; and their children: Courtney and Robby Beach; nieces, Susan Permenter and Cindy Dugey; nephews, Johnny Permenter and Rusty Verken; and numerous other relatives and friends. Born September 6, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Roy Holmes, II and Margie Britton Holmes. Polly was a faithful Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a longtime member of the Shiloh AME Church in Galveston. Preceded in death by her son, Christopher Edwin Bean, her father, Roy Holmes, II; sisters, Margie Lee Mendoza and Laureen Holmes, and a brother, Roy Holmes, III. Survivors include her husband of41 years, Carl Edward Bean of Galveston, her mother, Margie Britton Mayes of Galveston, a daughter, Carlene Louise Knebel and husband Kurt of Round Rock, two sons, Reginald Darnell Bean of Galveston and Ricky Charles Bean of Austin; sisters, Frozine Henderson, Bessie Mae Foreman, and Beverly Ann Brooks; brothers, Johnny Mac Holmes and wife Patricia, Donald Ray Holmes of Galveston and Timothy Austin all of Galveston. Born October 5, 1916 in Wichita Falls, Mrs. Beer had been a resident of Santa Fe for the past 17 years, previously of Goodrich and La Marque. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Beer enjoyed mall walking, taking care of her family and was a member of Midway Church of Christ and the Royal Neighbors of America. Born February 12, 1942 in Galveston, Texas to Leroy (Jack) Bell and Alma Perry Bell, Richard was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church. He later joined Mount Olive Baptist Church in Galveston, Texas. Richard was a 1959 graduate of Lincoln High School where he was a band member. He attended Bishop College and Texas Southern University where he obtained degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and a master's degree in Guidance Counseling. He was a 1978 graduate of Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Houston, Texas. He is a member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas. Preceded in death by his father Leroy (Jack) Bell and grandmother Evelyn Thompson, survivors include his wife of 23 years Mary GambleBell; sons, William Christopher Bell and Richard Paul Bell, Jr.; daughters, Evelyn Angelica Bell and Elizabeth Erica Bell all of Texas City; brother, Leroy K. Jack Arnold Bennett, Sr. age 67 of Galveston died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at his residence. Funeral services are set for 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2002 at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with the Reverend Louis Simpson officiating. Burial will follow at Oleander Cemetery in Galveston under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home. Born February 25, 1935 in Galveston, Texas to James William Bennett and Myrtle Delvin Bennett, Jack was a lifetime Galveston resident. He was a 1953 graduate of Ball High School, after which he attended Sam Houston State University. He retired as a bottler with the Falstaff Brewery in Galveston going on to establish the Bennett Monument Company in 1970 retiring in 1991 leaving the business to his son who continues as owner operator of the Bennett Monument and Flower Company. Mr. Bennett is a past member of the Knights of Columbus and a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Jack was a wonderful person and never closed his door to anyone. He was loved by the one she helped and knew him best. Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jim Bennett and a niece Sheila Bennett, survivors include daughters, Kimberly Bennett of Austin, and Terrance Stunson and husband Tommy of Dickinson; a son, Jack A. Bennett, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Galveston; a brother, Jerry Bennett and wife Bonnie of Reno, Nevada; grandchildren, Lindsey Stunson, Katie Stunson, Alex Bennett, and Jack A. Born September 1, 1910 in Milton, Florida to John Augustus Bennett and Alice Mae Strother Bennett, Maynard was a member of Central Christian Church. He retired in 1971 with 25 years of service to the Southern Pacific Railroad. In his early life he rode a bicycle and delivered telegrams that he also wrote for the Western Union Telegram Service Co. He was a member of Tucker Lodge # 297 AF& AM, The El Mina Shrine, The Scottish Rite, Order of the Eastern Star Mizpah Chapter No. 2, and the AARP # 1294. He was a bingo caller at the Gulf Breeze Apartments where he and his late wife Lena were residents for many years, and he also called bingo for numerous senior groups in the area. Preceded in death by his parents, step father, Walter Knowlton, his wife of 66 years, Lena, sister, Rosalie Glidden, and brothers, Paul, Luther, and Carl Bennett; survivors include daughter, Louise Plasek, of La Marque; sisters, Nelda Brown of League City and Neva Marsh of Alaska; grandchildren, Theresa Corley of Texas City and Cecelia Risinger and husband Mark of Dickinson; grandson, Edward Plasek and wife Jane of League City, and John Plasek of La Marque; 9 great-grandchildren. He had been employed at Union Carbide for 32 years as a machinist until his retirement earlier this year, was a member of the Metal Trades Union, was a University of Texas Longhorn and Texas City High School Football fan, and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Nan Bird; brothers, Douglas E. Bird, Jr. and Gary Dale Bird. Following a courageous two year battle with cancer, Virginia "Ginger" Bisbey, 71, of Galveston, passed away Sunday, March 17, at home with her family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ginger is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert G. Bisbey; son Blair Bisbey and wife Becky of Jasper, Texas, daughter Marlee Sondgeroth and husband Tom, of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Brandon, Blake and Russell Bisbey; and Godchildren Steve Pennal and Edee Pennal Harvey. Dearly loved by her family and numerous friends, Ginger s beautiful smile and kind, encouraging words will long be remembered by all those whose lives she touched. Graveside services will be held on Saturday in Mobile, Alabama. Alice was born September 16, 1930, in El Paso, Texas. She moved with her husband to Galveston in 1972. Alice took great pride in raising her family and most especially her grandchildren and she enjoyed taking care of other people. She could often be found cooking in her kitchen and she was famous for her tortillas. She is survived by her husband, Atwell Boone, of Galveston; daughters, Mary Bates and husband, John, of Atlanta, Georgia; Nancy Sivy and fianc e Andrew Sliter, of League City; sons, James Petty, of Minnesota; Lee Taylor and Loretta Powell, of Missouri; and Richard Boone, of Green Bay, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Melissa Ash, Amy Taylor, Kathy Boone, Lee Taylor, Jr., Richard Boone, Timothy Boone, Andre Cooper, and Ciarra Sivy; great grandchildren: Talon Ash, Brandon Boone, Christopher Perry, Gavin Taylor, Melvin Edwards, and Breann Taylor; special friend, Denise Boone; and numerous other relatives and friends. Lillian 'Sis' Borel, 83, of Sabine Pass died Saturday, April 27, 2002 at her home. A native of St. Martinville, Louisiana, she lived in the Port Arthur area for 59 years. She was the owner of Lillian's Dolls and Gifts. In 1946, Lillian and husband Claude opened Borel's Body Shop. She worked as bookkeeper for the shop from 1955 to 1981. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, a member of St. Paul's Altar Society and a member of the Acadian Society. She taught religious education and made crafts for the children at her church. She volunteered for multiple charitable causes. As a doll creator, her craft was likened by such entities as Nieman Marcus to locals. Visitation was from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday March 25th and a rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday March 26 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur with the Rev. James Vanderholt officiating. Burial followed at Calvary Cemetery. Survivors include her husband Claude Borel of Sabine Pass; a son, Wade Borel of Groves; three daughters, Connie Meaux of Broadus, Jean Simon of Sabine Pass and Claudia Warren of Sugarland; a sister, Curtis Halphen of St. Martinville, La.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Michael Ray Broussard Aka Shannon and BeBe, age 46 of Texas City passed from this life, Saturday, December 29, 2001 at his residence after a courageous battle with liver disease. Preceded in death by her father, brother, Samuel Johnson and husband, Walter Joseph Johnson, survivors include a daughter, Deborah Broussard of Galveston; sons, Walter J. Mrs. Mary Ruth (Birkmeyer) Brown passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, May 21, 2002, with her loving family at her side. Born November 7, 1931 in Galveston, Mrs. Brown was a lifetime resident of Galveston county, living in Santa Fe for over 30 years. She was employed as an administrative assistant for UTMB Blood Bank until her retirement in 1994, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed bowling with her friends in the Texas City bowling league. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Charles T. (Mop) Brown and her parents, Elijah and Edith Birkmeyer. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Blair Krell of Lake Jackson; brother, E.J. Birkmeyer, Jr. of Santa Fe; sister, Glenda Baccinelli of Santa Fe and grandchildren, Jacob William Krell and Emily Ann Krell. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend Peter Ferguson, celebrant. Born January 13, 1936 in Galveston, Texas to Richard Matt Hajdukovich and Rose Elizabeth Mattson Hajdukovich, Rose was a 1954 graduate of Ball High School. After high school Rose attended the Galveston Metropolitan Business College. She married Rudolph A. Bullacher, III on November 27, 1963 in Galveston. She then devoted her life to the care of her husband Rudy and their son John. She was a faithful member of West End Baptist Church, The La Marque Eastern Star and AARP. Preceded in death by her parents and husband of 38 years, Rudolph A. Bullacher, III, who died January 11, 2002, Rose is survived by a son John L. Bullacher of Galveston, sister Judy F. Brown of La Marque, brother Richard M. Hajdukovich, Jr. of Galveston, niece Lori Brown of La Marque, nephew Brian " Bud" Brown of La Marque, nephew Matt Hajdukovich of North Dakota, brother-in-law Robert Bullacher and wife Lucy, niece Jennifer Bullacher, and nephew Ryan Bullacher all of Galveston. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
