Modell Wilson, 86, of Kirbyville died February 22, 1997 at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Kirbyville. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Davis Cemetery. She was a native and lifelong resident of Kirbyville. Survivors include sons, James Purvis Wilson of Vidor, Earnest Leon Wilson of Buna and Robert Wilson of Kirbyville; brothers, W.E. Glenn of Silsbee and Earl Glenn of Kirbyville; sisters, Wanda Grigsby and Eloise Jordan, both of Kirbyville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

SILSBEE – Funeral for Vercie D. Wilson, 70, of Silsbee will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Stringer-Ward Funeral Home with burial in Magnolia Springs Cemetery. She died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Jasper Memorial Hospital. A native of Kirbyville, she had lived in Silsbee 15 years. Survivors include her husband, E.J. Wilson of Silsbee; two daughters, Fleta Coe of Kountze and Maxine Miller of Alberata, Texas; a brother, R.M. McManus of Rosharon, Texas; a sister, Grace Griffin of Jasper; and five grandchildren.

Wilson, Wilbur E.
Wilbur E. Wilson, 70, of 918 Hanwood Drive, Jasper, Texas died Wednesday at St. Mary Hospital. He retired in 1972 from 39 years of service with Gulf Oil Corp. and lived in Groves-Port Arthur area fro 45 years. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Levingston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hale of Jasper, Rev. George L. Glass Sr. Pastor of United Pentecostal Church of DeRidder, and Rev. B.H. McCoy, Pastor of First Pentecostal Church of Port Arthur. Survivors are: His wife, Lula Wilson of Jasper; two sons, Doug Wilson of Groves, George Wilson of Houston; four sisters, Vadie West, of Kirbyville; Frankie Wallace, Silsbee; Ottie Loughridge, Forest Springs; Lena Bruggman, Texas City; two brothers, C.S. Wilson, Kirbyville; J.E. Wilson, Jasper. One grandson, two granddaughters and one great grandson. Pallbearers are: All nephews, Harold West, Raymond Wilson, Donnie Wilson, Jerry Wilson, Dick Price, and Frank Price.

Wilson, Willie P.
Funeral services for Willie P. Wilson, 83, were held Friday, June 30, at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Cotulla, Texas. He died Wednesday, June 28, 1972. Mr. Wilson was born July 14, 1888 in Belgrade, Texas. He lived in Bleakwood and Pt. Arthur most of his life, retiring from the Gulf Oil Refinery in Port Arthur after 30 years of service. While in this area he was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Beeler Bible Class. As a member he bought a hospital bed and started the project of loaning beds to the sick through the class. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife Mary Sue Wilson of Cotulla; one son, Ivy Wilson of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. June Williams of Houston and Mrs. Anita Rae Bess of Kirbyville, 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral services for Madie Singleton Windham, 72, of Kirbyville will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery near Roganville. She died at 1:15 p.m. Sunday in Mixson Memorial hospital in Kirbyville. A native of Gist, she was a lifelong resident of Newton and Jasper counties. Survivors are her husband, Wallace Windham; two brothers, Jack Singleton of Nederland and David Singleton of Kirbyville; two sisters, Thelma Ford and Athilea Sweat, both of Kirbyville.

Withers, James W.
DEATH CLAIMS COOPERATIVE PRESIDENT
Funeral services for James W. Withers, 65, of Buna will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Withers died at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 23, 1972 in Jasper Memorial Hospital of a short illness. He was a native of Jasper County, and had lived here 40 years. He was one of the organizers and served as chairman of the board of the Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative in Jasper. He was also director of the agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Jasper. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Irene Mahaffey Withers of Buna; three sons, J.L. and James Withers of Reston, Va., and William Withers of Kirbyville; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jackie Harper of Jasper; his mother, Mrs. Linnie Withers of Buna; four sisters, Mrs. Gladys Andrews of Longview, Mrs. Inez Hughes of Houston, Mrs. Mirtis Cousins of Buna, and Mrs. Johnileen Peckinpaugh of Kansas City, Kansas; 13 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral services for Jesse Wardie Marsh Withers, 81, of Kirbyville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery directed by Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. She died about 4 a.m. Thursday in a Jasper Hospital. She was born in Houston and had lived in the Kirbyville area 58 years. Survivors are her husband, Elmo Withers, of Kirbyville; one son, Marion E. Withers Jr., of Dallas; and one brother, Dave Marsh of Beaumont.

Wood, Jessie R.
Funeral services for Jessie R. Wood, 60, will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville. He died Thursday, June 15, 1972 in a Newton nursing home. He was a resident of Pasadena but had lived most of his life in Kirbyville. Among survivors are two sons. Tony Wood, Pasadena, and Bobby Wood, Cleveland; one daughter, Miss Irvy Wood, Bon Wier; three brothers, Clifton Wood, Buna, and Tommy and Morris Wood, both of Kirbyville and two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Richardson, Buna and Mrs. Ola Boyeman, Daingerfield.

Woodard, Amidee Meridith
Funeral services for Amidee Meridith Woodard, 61, of the Trout Creek community near Kirbyville, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. R.C. Franks, pastor of the Trout Creek Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in the King Cemetery in Hartberg. He was dead on arrival at Mixon Memorial Hospital about midnight Thursday, December 16, 1971 after a sudden illness in his home. He was born in Merian, La., but had lived in the Kirbyville area most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna Cochran Woodard; four sons, Jimmy Woodard of Nederland, Jerry Woodard, Bridge City, Henry Woodard, Orange, and Steve Woodard, Trout Creek; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Green of Deweyville, Mrs. Wanda Stanley of Starks, La., and Miss Ruby Woodard of Trout Creek; four sisters, Mrs. Carrie Wright of Vidor, Mrs. Thursie Mitchell of Bon Wier, Mrs. Bell Baxley of Vidor, and Mrs. Tura Mae Cochran of Allendale, S.C., and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Woodard, 93, of Buna, were held Monday in Farmer Funeral Home of Silsbee. The Rev. Jack Coker officiated. Burial was in Holland Cemetery in Village Mills. Grandsons were pallbearers. Mrs. Woodard died at 12:05 Sunday, April 11, 1971 in Buna Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was a native of DeRidder, La., and had lived most of her life in Kountze, moving to Buna five years ago. She was a member of the South Mill Creek Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Henry E. Woodard of Buna and Hermon A. Woodard of Beaumont; four daughters, Mrs. Stella Staly and Mrs. Thelma Carrier both of Kountze, Mrs. Eldia of Bossier City, La., and Mrs. Gertie Overstreet of Segno, Tex.; two brothers, Burrell Tilley of Chaneyville, La., and View Tilley of Mansfield, La.; a sister, Mrs. Flora Donald of Deridder, 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Avis Melton Woods, 57, of Kirbyville died Monday, May 13, 1996 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at Kirbyville Missionary Baptist Church with burial at Bean Cemetery under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. A lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a former co-owner of Woods Drug Store in Kirbyville. Burial will be in the Kirbyville Cemetery. He died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at his home after an illness. He was born in Kirbyville and lived most of his life there. He was a pharmacist and co-owner of Woods Drug Store. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was on the Board of Stewards. He was a member of the Texas Pharmaceutical Association, Nathan Corley Lodge #294 AF&AM, the ElMina Temple and was a 32nd Degree Mason, Woodman of the World, Texas Forestry Association and American Legion. He was active in scouting, having served as financial chairman of Pack 33 and assistant scout master of Troup 33. He was a member of the Kirbyville Chamber of Commerce and a former city councilman. He was a Veteran of W.W. II having served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include his wife, Betty Woods; four sons, Mike and Paul Woods, both of Houston, Wayne and David Woods, both of Kirbyville; a daughter, Laura Woods of Houston; his mother Lillian Woods of Kirbyville; three brothers, Crawford Woods of Kirbyville, Dr. Seborn Woods of Shreveport and Hamp Woods of Nederland; four Sisters, Sara Sanders of Kirbyville, Charlotte Stephens and Betty Beaver, both of fort Worth, and Eloise Krebs of Port Arthur.

Funeral service for Lucille Moore Woods, 69, of Kirbyville was held Friday, January 11 in the United Methodist Church with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. She died Tuesday evening, January 8, 1985 at Max Mixson Memorial Hospital here after an illness. A native of Mt. Sylvan, she had lived in Kirbyville for 40 years. She is survived by her husband, Crawford Woods of Kirbyville; three daughters, Cynthia Buchanan of Georgetown, Nancy Woods of Houston and Susan Hemphill of Crockett; a son Jimmy Woods of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers, Horace Moore of Austin and Rudolph Moore of Baytown; and four grandchildren.

A native of Los Angeles, he lived in Newton 12 years. Survivors include his parents, Dave and Louise Woosley of Newton; brothers, Michael Woosley and John Woosley, both of Newton, and Steven Woosley of Baton Rouge, La.; sisters, Tawnda “Missy” Simmons of Baton Rouge and Amy Woosley of Newton; and grandparents, Henrietta Woosley of Burkeville and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hanlin of Mojave, Ariz.

He had lived in Kirbyville and Call all his life, and was a cafe owner, construction surveyor and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Annie Lee Dougherty Worthey of Call; and sister, Grace Richards of Houston.

Survivors include two sons, Byron Wright of Jasper and Forrest Wright of Kirbyville; a daughter, Bernice Deese of Port Arthur; four sisters, Mattie and Lula Smith of Kirbyville, Bertha and Ethel Smith, both of Magnolia Springs.

Mable Loughridge Wright, 89, of Kirbyville died Saturday, September 18, 1994 at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery. A native of Junction City, Ark., she lived in Kirbyville most of her life and was former owner of Wright’s Washateria and Wright Apartments in Kirbyville. Survivors include a daughter, Clovice Taliaferro of Kirbyville; brother Joe Laughridge of Livingston; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Wright of Heaters, W.Va.; two daughters, Juanita Husbands of Buna and Robbie Kollenborn, of Anchorage, Alaska; two brothers, Chester and Jack Morgan, both of Kirbyville and one sister, Grace Akins of Kirbyville. HEMPHILL (Spl) – Funeral services for Mrs. Mollie E. Mason Wright, 101, of Hemphill will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Star Funeral Home, with the Rev. W.T. Love, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Mason Family cemetery. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Wright died at 2 a.m. Friday at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and a member of a pioneer family. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors are three sons, Carroll Wright of Hemphill, Odell Wright of Center and William J. Jones of Nashua, N.H.; two daughters, Mrs. R.M. Williams of Hemphill and Mrs. J.A. Woods of Nacogdoches; one brother, J.L. Mason of Lampasas; 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-great grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral services for T.A. “Lonnie” Wynne, 72, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kirbyville Cemetery. He died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday, {June 30, 1974} in a Galveston Hospital. He had been in ill-health for several years. He was a native of Kirbyville and was a retired pipefitter. He operated Wynne’s Nursery. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Austin Wynne and one brother, George Wynne of Kirbyville.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A lifelong resident of Call, he was a Tech II with the Texas Forest Service and the Fire Chief for the Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ann Y’Barbo of Call; father, Reece Y’Barbo of Call; son, James Christopher Y’Barbo of Kirbyville; daughters, Katie Diane Kendrix of St. Mary’s Ga., and Larissa Ann Allday of Kirbyville; brother, John Reece Y’Barbo of Roganville; sisters, Patricia Ann Hogan of Laredo and Laverne Kent of Kirbyville; and seven grandchildren.
