POLK

The Polk Family Cemetery is located between Thornton and Kosse. 
Mrs. Singh is the great granddaughter of William E. Polk. 
She reports that there are a number of unmarked graves in this 
cemetery. Some are of children of the Polk family and some of people 
who worked for the Polk family.

These graves are on the O. T. Powell farm which had been the 
property of Joseph Henderson Powell and Caroline Matilda Herod 
Powell.

RUYLE

In 1848, Solomon Ruyle moved to Chireno, Nacogdoches County. 
On 15 May 1848, Texas Governor, George T. Wood, signed 
Patent for land grant to Solomon covering one League and one Labor 
(4605 acres of land in Limestone County [Robertson District]). 
When Hill County was formed in 1853, a large part of the grant was 
in the new county. 

As a resident of Tyler County, on 26 July 1858, Solomon sold 180 
acres in Nacogdoches County to R. P. Wilson. Solomon and his family 
moved to Limestone County near Mt. Calm in 1859. Tax records 
indicate this was his residence until his death.
