CORRIGAN - Graveside services for George Emmitt Stanley of Woodville were held Saturday, March 22, 2003, from Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville, with Dr. Raymond Parker officiating. Mr. Stanley was born on Feb. 22, 1922 in Port Arthur and died Wednesday, March 19, in Woodville. Mr. Stanley was former owner of Edward's Funeral Home in Woodville and part owner of Nunnely-Stanley Funeral Home in Port Arthur, funeral director and funeral home owner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Y.G. and Magrata Stanley; and wife, Mary Jackson Stanley. Survivors include his stepson and daughter-in-law, John and Helen Rogers of Georgetown; and sisters, Kiddie Sinclair of Spicewood and Del Clancey of Freeport. Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Brunson Cooper Richardson
LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Brunson Cooper Richardson, 90, of Livingston were held Friday, March 21, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Hood officiating. Burial followed in Menard Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Richardson died Tuesday, March 18, in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin. He was born Sept. 27, 1912 in Big Sandy, the son of Jessie E. and Mary E. Duff Richardson, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Lucille Richardson on Aug. 23, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lucille Richardson of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald G. and Gloria Richard-son of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Greg Caldwell of Vidor; brothers, Wilson Richardson of Livingston and Hebert Richardson of Tyler; grandchildren, Lisa Dillon, Marcus Richardson, Dana Wagnon and Ariel Caldwell and great-grandchildren, Nicholas Williams, Catherine Dillon and Caitlin Dillon. Pallbearers were Micheal Martin, Jimmy Martin, Kenneth Cathey, Eddie Cathey, James Kenneth Richardson and Robert Copley.

LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Douglas Flournoy Jr., 73, of Corrigan were held Saturday, March 22, 2003, from the First Community Baptist Church, with Dr. Don Bradford, the Rev. Curtis Hester and the Rev. Charles Wade officiating. Inter-ment followed in New Wensley Cemetery in Leggett. Mr. Flournoy died Wednesday, March 19, in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin. He was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Livingston, the son of Douglas and Rebecca Franklin Flournoy Sr. He married Beatrice Flour-noy on March 15, 1970. Mr. Flournoy was a member of First Community Baptist Church in Leggett. He was preceded in death by his father; sons, Leonard Wheeler and David Ray Wheeler; son-in-law, Farris Wyatt; stepfather, Frank Franklin and sister, Ruthie Lee Brooke. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Flournoy; mother, Rebecca Franklin of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Don Leon and Linda Bradford of Baton Rouge, La.; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Jones Barlow and John Barlow of Leggett; daughter, Chesbie Lynn Wyatt of New Willard; special friend, Otha Sheppard of New Willard; daughter and son-in-law, Doro-thy Sue and John Jordan of Livingston; son, Floyd Wheeler of Leggett; daughter and son-in-law, Mattie Pearl and Charles Vaughn of Leggett; stepmother, Bernice Cruse of Cleveland; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Haynes of Houston, Thelma Haynes of Leggett, Annie Mae Perry of Houston, Annie Lee Perry of Cleveland and Yvonne Marie of Houston; and brothers, Samuel Flournoy of Houston, L.J. Marge Detloff
CLEVELAND - Marge Detloff, 70, of Livingston died on Monday, March 17, 2003. She was a teacher for 52 years and, at the time of her death, was teaching special education at Lincoln Junior High School in Coldspring. Mrs. Detloff retired from teaching school in Indiana and received a citation from the governor of Indiana for com-pleting 50 years of service. For three consecutive years she was voted by the faculty as Teacher of the Year. She was known as a beloved teacher who enjoyed every day she taught. She is survived by her husband, Robert Martin Detloff; sons, Joseph Martin Detloff, Michael Dennis Detloff and Peter Daniel Detloff; sisters, Mary Dennis, Isabelle Deprado and Joan Detloff; 11 grandchildren and a host of other family, friends and students. A mass was held on Thursday, March 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Livingston, with Father Clifton Labbe celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lincoln Junior High Fund, Coldspring/Oakhurst ISD, P.O. Box 39, Cold-spring, Texas 77331. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenny Williams
KOUNTZE - Kenny Williams, 47, of Ace, formerly of Saratoga, died Monday, March 17, 2003, in Nacogdoches. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 20, at Broussard's Chapel in Kountze, with burial following in Oil Field Ceme-tery in Saratoga. A native of Silsbee, he was an oilfield pumper in the oil industry. Survivors include his wife, Celia Williams of Ace; mother, Rose Williams of Saratoga; sister, Claudia Williams Grant and husband Michael of Saratoga; brothers, Burnice Williams and wife Billie of Liberty and Anthony Williams and wife Cindy of Saratoga; nieces, Heather Williams and Cayli and Chantri Grant and nephews, Brad and Blake Williams. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, Burn Center, Galveston, 815 Market St., Galveston, Texas 77559-9969.

Eula Ireson Battise
LIVINGSTON - Eula Ireson Battise, 85, died Friday, March 21, 2003, in Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin. She is survived by her sisters, Esther Battise and Dorcas B. Bullock, both of the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation; nieces and husbands, Lawrine and Jack Battise Sr. of the reservation, Mavis and Joe Marroquin of Terrell, Ethelyn Sylestine and Chief Oscola Clayton Sylestine of the reservation, Zetha Battise of the reservation and Naomi Battise of the reservation; nephews and wives, Donnie and Carol Battise of the reservation and Glendon Wayne and Genny Bullock of Cleveland; de-voted nephew whom she raised, Jack Battise Jr. of Kehei, Hawaii and namesake, Chelsea Eula Battise. She was born March 26, 1917 in Livingston, the daughter of McConnico and Mable Sylestine Battise. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Chief Kina Robert Fulton Battise and Benjamin Harrison Battise; and sisters, Nenney C. Battise, Ivey Battise and Louisa Mae Battise. Miss Eula was a graduate of Oklahoma Presbyterian College in Durant, Okla. and Southeastern State College. She taught home economics in the Goodland Indian Orphanage in Hugo, Okla. and Intermountain Indian School in Brigham City, Utah, where she retired after 22 years of service. Upon her return to the reservation, she generously devoted her time and never-ending energy to her family, her church and her community. As a member of the Indian Presbyterian Church, she served as an elder, clerk of session, Sunday school teacher, adult choir member and notably as senate leader in the Women of Color. For her community, she served as activities coordinator for the Alabama-Coushatta Senior Citizens. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 23, 2003, from Indian Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Heck officiat-ing. Burial followed in the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation Cemetery. Pallbearers were Garrett Battise, Carlos Bullock, Toddie Lee Battise, Derek Battise, Brandon Craven and Patrick Battise. Honorary pallbearers were Chief Oscola Clayton Sylestine, Clem Fain Sylestine, Tom John and Deloris Thomas. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Oscar Emanuel Hamilton
LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Oscar Emanuel Hamilton, 67, were held Sunday, March 23, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Burial followed in Jones Prairie Cemetery in Leggett. Mr. Hamilton died Friday, March 21, in Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena. He was born Nov. 19, 1935 in Hortense, the son of Emanuel Callaway Hamilton and Lulla Bell Goynes Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; sons, David Hamilton of Houston, Douglas Hamilton of Pasadena, Mark Hamilton of San Antonio and Leland Engle of Pasadena; daughter, Dianne Haines of Leggett; sister, Louise Murphy of Leggett; four grand-children and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Doug Hamilton, Danny Webster, Herbert "Bubba" Haines, Galen Webster, Rob Saunders, Donnie Ellerbee, Brian Belden and Andy Arcos.

Silviano Vallejo Sr.
LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Silviano Vallejo Sr., 70, were held Monday, March 24, 2003, from St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Burial followed in Peebles Cemetery. Mr. Vallejo died Thursday, March 20, in Hermann Hospital in Houston. He was born May 4, 1932 in Lockhart, the son of Filomeno and Dominga Olivarez Vallejo. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Juanita Owen and grandchild, Iesha Henderson. Survivors include his wife, Maria Vallejo; sons, Silviano Vallejo Jr., Ruben Vallejo, Jorge Vallejo, Alonso Vallejo and Ri-cardo Vallejo, all of Goodrich; daughters, Rosa Richardson of Goodrich, Rosalinda Contreras of Corrigan, Vicky Torres of Goodrich, Minga Rios of Goodrich, Lucia Newman of Goodrich, Anita Sides of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Yesenia Vallejo and Angie Vallejo, both of Goodrich; brother, Reyes Vallejo; 25 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Manuel Rios, Darrell Newman, Santos Jr. Torres, Anthony Vallejo, Mike Fassler and Homero Jr. Contreras. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Betty Sue Tindall
WEBSTER - Betty Sue Tindall, 68, died Friday, March 21, 2003. She was born in Winnsboro and was a Baptist. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Norris; sons, Kelly Tindall and Wade Tindall and his wife Maggie; brother, Bud Whatley; grandchildren, Carrie, Jennifer, Jill, Misty, Tabetha, Tera and Brittany and great-grandchildren, Faith and Jenna. Services were held Tuesday, March 25, from Forest Park East Funeral Home, with interment following in Forest Park East Cemetery.

John Lewis Darden
CORRIGAN - Funeral services for John Lewis Darden of Houston were held Friday, March 28, 2003, at Palestine Mission-ary Baptist Church in Chester, with the Rev. Charles Darden and the Rev. Clyde Darden officiating. Interment followed in Darden Cemetery in Chester. Mr. Darden was born on Sept. 16, 1926 to the union of the late Lewis and Sadie Lee Darden in Polk County. He attended the school formerly known as Chester Negro High School in Chester. He accepted Christ at an early age. He was the eldest of four children. He married and divorced Ruthie Maw Qualls. To this union five children were born. Mr. Darden died Thursday, March 20, in Houston. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thurman Darden; his parents; and daughter, Sadie Ruth Darden. Survivors include his sisters, Dorothy Newton and Evelyn Darden, both of Houston; children, Ozea Darden, Clinnon Darden, Eva Snordon and Stella Dubose; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Jarvis Morrison, Jonathan Newton Jr., Erroll Phillips, Jonathan Newton Sr., Samuel Darden Jr. and William Darden. Honorary pallbearers were Palestine Missionary Baptist Church members. Corrigan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

William A. "Rocky" Stone
LIVINGSTON - William A. "Rocky" Stone, 68, of Livingston died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 26, from the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Tom Kennedy officiat-ing. He was born May 4, 1934 in Bell, Calif., the son of James Joel Stone and Pearl Stone, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Lerline Stone on Oct. 3, 1952 in Beaumont. Survivors include his wife, Lerline Stone of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, William A. "Ricky" Stone and Patricia Stone Jr. of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and E.E. Sepulveda of Houston; sisters, Arline Herrington of San Pedro, Calif. and Helen Haley of Biloxi, Miss. and sisters-in-law, Frances Layton and Joan Stone, both of Tucson, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Fern Kohrman
LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Mary Fern Kohrman, 83, of Livingston were held Wednesday, March 26, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Joel Salazar and Ron Rozelle officiating. Burial followed in Forest Hill Ceme-tery. Mrs. Kohrman died Monday, March 24, in Northwest Medical Center in Houston. She was born May 2, 1919 in Hemphill, the daughter of Henry Dolton Nixon and Bonibel Black Nixon. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Livingston and taught the Kings Daughters Sunday School Class for many years. She was pre-ceded in death by her husband, M.G. "Son" Kohrman; her parents; brother, Garth Nixon; and sisters, Ann Iddings and Quinda Rozelle. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Higgerson of Cypress; son and companion, Glen G. "Plum" Kohrman and Barbara Dennix of Livingston; son, Gene N. Kohrman of Port Arthur; grandson and wife, Alan and Wendy Higgerson of New Braunfels; grandson, Eric Higgerson of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter and husband, Kristy and Hec Long of Livingston; granddaughter, Kelly Kohrman of Alexandria, Va.; great-grandchildren, Kayeleigh Higgerson, Jake Hig-gerson, Emmary Higgerson and Brady Higgerson, all of New Braunfels; brothers, Lynn Nixon and wife Mary Joe of Livingston and Bert Nixon of Bluminggrove; best friend and brother-in-law, Arch Iddings of Livingston; sister-in-law, Carolyn Nixon of Livingston and a host of nieces and nephews. LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Aubrey "Mark" Wright, 54, of Livingston were held Wednesday, March 26, 2003, from Revival Center Church of God in Onalaska, with Bro. Gerald Reeves officiating. Burial followed in Bold Springs Ceme-tery. Mr. Wright died Saturday, March 22, in Medical Center of Mesquite in Mesquite. He was born Nov. 21, 1948 in Beaumont, the son of Raymond and Myrtice Huckabay Wright. Mr. Wright was a member of Revival Center Church of God in Onalaska. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Ray Wright, and sister, Nancy Schlein. Survivors include his wife, Linda Jo Wright of Livingston; mother, Myrtice Lenora Huckabay of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Wright Robinson and Tim Robinson; son and daughter-in-law, Loren Matthews and Wendy Wright of Al-bany, La.; stepson, Terry Lindsey of the USMC; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Jamie Lindsey and Anthony Hubbard of Gar-land; granddaughter, Hannah Grace Robinson; grandsons, Jordan Lindsey, Jayden Lindsey, Shelby Lindsey and T.J. Katherine Williams
LIVINGSTON - Katherine Williams, 84, of Dickinson died Monday, March 24, 2003, in Clear Lake Regional Medical Cen-ter in Webster. Graveside services were held Saturday, March 29, at Blue Water Cemetery in Polk County, with Deacon Bill Rudolph offi-ciating. She was born March 15, 1919 in Wharton County, the daughter of Clarence Clinton Harper and Nancy Melverdie Pounders Harper. She was the last surviving daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Forrest Williams; two sisters and seven brothers. Mrs. Williams was a member of True Cross Catholic Church in Dickinson. Survivors include her daughter, Bertha Mae Boyd of Dickinson; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, F. Dee and Debra Boyd and Jimmy Lee and Connie Boyd of Dickinson; four great-grandchildren, Danielle Burrell of Dickinson, Jimmy Lee Boyd II of Santa Fe, Ashley Boyd of Dickinson and Jesse Phillip "Bubba" Boyd of Dickinson; one great-great-grandson, Damon Dakota Boyd of Dickinson and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne Marie Shoemaker
LIVINGSTON - A memorial service for Jeanne Marie Shoemaker, 74, were held Saturday, March 29, 2003, from St. Jo-seph's Catholic Church in Livingston, with Father Clifton Labbe officiating. Mrs. Shoemaker died Thursday, March 20, at her residence in Onalaska. She was born March 7, 1929 in Colorado Springs, Colo., the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Black Scannell, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Survivors include her daughters, RaeNell Brumbaugh of Onalaska and Lyndel Nall of Mojave Valley, Ariz.; son, Kelly Shoemaker of Sonora, Calif.; sister, Alice Matney of Bosque Farms, N.M.; brother, Tim Scannell of Albuquerque, N.M.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Ralph David Street
LIVINGSTON - A memorial service for Ralph David Street, 58, was held Friday, March 28, 2003, from the Cochran Fu-neral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 9568. Mr. Street died Tuesday, March 25, at his residence in Livingston. He was born Oct. 23, 1944 in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Ralph Edward Street and Davalean Jack Street, both of whom pre-ceded him in death. He married Eileen Street on July 27, 1991 in Shiloh Springs, Ark. Mr. Street was a member of Blanchard Baptist Church and his employment included Campbell Concrete, Eastex Communications and Southwest Consolidated. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, having attained the rank of E4. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Street of Livingston; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Christy Dowdy of New Caney; son, David Dowdy of Channelview; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Janie Street of Willis and Jack and Debbie Street of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Jessica and husband Glenn Gay, David Kirkpatrick, Christopher Dowdy, Dustin Dowdy, Zachary Dowdy and Latosha Dowdy and great-grandchildren, Gabriella Casas and Morgan Gay. Honorary pallbearers were Darrell Dowdy, Glenn Gay, Jack Street, James Street, David Kirkpatrick, Christopher Dowdy, Duston Dowdy and Zachary Dowdy. James Addison Vest
LUFKIN - Funeral services for James Addison Vest, 80, of Livingston were held Thursday, March 27, 2003, from the Cason-Monk Sunset Chapel, with the Rev. Cecil Vaden and the Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Vest died March 25 in Lufkin. He was born June 16, 1922 in Nacogdoches County, the son of Volney Vest and Mary Elizabeth Fitzgerald Vest. Mr. Vest was a retired coach and teacher from Shepherd ISD and a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Wayne Vest. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Vest of Livingston; sons, James Vest and wife Karen of Nacogdoches and Danny Vest and special friend Rose Upmeyer of Nacogdoches; daughter, Carolyn Cedillos and husband Manuel of Ace; grandchildren, Stephanie Warnock, Casey Warnock, Amanda Cedillos, Amber Cedillos, Sharon Patterson and husband Zach, Lydia Vest and Leah Vest; and great-grandchildren, Emily Grace Robinson, Corbin Lee Patterson and Krislyn Denise Patterson. Pallbearers were Carol Strahan, James Gibbins, Casey Warnock, Manuel Cedillos, Zach Patterson and Marty Gober.
