Gladys Rogers
Gladys Louise Rogers, 90, a homemaker, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at a Decatur care center. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Graveside service was at 3:30 p.m. in St. Paul Cemetery, Midlothian. Mrs. Rogers was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Richardson. She was a longtime member of Rosemont Church of Christ. She lived in Fort Worth for 60 years and had resided in Decatur for the past seven years. She attended Central Fellowship Church in Decatur and was a member of Foster Home Women’s Association. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, William Marvin Rogers of Decatur; son, W. M. Rogers, Jr of Andrews; daughters, Barbara Harwell of Dallas, Sandra Hukill of Springtown and Rita LeMond of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Christ Haven for Children in Keller.

Sam Hidler
Sam Oren Hidler, 88, a north Fort Worth businessman and East Texas rancher, died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, in Fort Worth. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park, Mr. Billie Ray Martin officiating. Mr. Hidler was born Dec. 2, 1914, to Volney Richard and Rebecca Frances Dossey Hidler in the New Harmony community near Ladonia, Fannin County. He was the great-great-grandson of Reuben Brown, one of the original land grant settlers in Fannin County under the Republic of Texas. He owned and operated Sam’s Truck Service and Cattle Hauling for 35 years and was a member of several civic organizations in Fort Worth. After retiring, he found much joy in traveling, especially to the national parks and historical areas throughout the United States and Canada. His hobbies, when he wasn’t tending to his cattle or fishing, included the restoration of antique guns, tools and farm implements. Mr. and Mrs. Hidler were fortunate to enjoy a golden wedding anniversary and a 60th wedding anniversary party at the Lions Club in River Oaks, surrounded by numerous family and friends. They moved from Ladonia to Fort Worth in 1943. Theirs was a long and happy marriage and life together. Mr. Hidler was a fine musician who could play the piano, guitar and mandolin. He was an exceptional harmonica player and often astounded listeners by filling the room with sounds of melody and harmony at the same time through one small instrument. He loved to tell wonderful, humorous stories of the many things he had seen and done as observed through his unique vision of life. His family is left with an untold number of special memories of him that hold much laughter and good times. He will not be forgotten. He was a kind and loving Christian man. Mr. Hidler was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Alvis Alton Hidler, Bertha Mae Hidler Eagleton, Mary Frances Hidler Norris and John Henry Hidler. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Etta Belle McLemore Hidler; daughters, Carol Jean Hidler Ackley and husband, William Edward Ackley, of San Antonio, Linda Earline Hidler Martin and husband, Billie Ray Martin, of Azle, Gwendolyn Frances Hidler Pierce and husband, Ronald Bruce Pierce, of Fort Worth and Beverly Hidler Tillman and husband, John Stephen Tillman, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, William Jon Ackley of San Antonio, Belinda Martin Hudgeons and husband, William Anthony Hudgeons, of Azle, Ronald Bruce Pierce, Jr. and wife, Rebecca Kemper Pierce, of Burleson, Cynthia Ackley Tramontano and husband, Michael Anthony Tramontano, of San Antoniio, John Oren Pierce and wife, Hallie Wigington Pierce, of Fort Worth, Stephanie Weinberger of Fort Worth, Samuel Eugene Pierce of Whitney, Randy Richard Weinberger, Jr. of Fort Worth, Leah Martin Saurenmann and husband, Christopher Allen Saurenmann, of Eagle Mountain Lake and Heather Morgan Tillman of Fort Worth; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Iva Ruth Hidler Carroll of North Richland Hills; sisters-in-law, Mary Margaret McLemore Jordan of Houston, Muriel Elizabeth McLemore Daniel of Fort Worth and Doris Lillian McLemore Withrow of Dallas; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special cousin and dear friend, William Howard “Dutch” Erwin of Pecan Gap.

Frances Schutza
Frances Viola Baca Schutza, 75, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, died Thursday, May 15, 2003. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Alvin, in 1993; brother, William Baca in 1976; stepson, Ty Schutza in 2003; and grandson, Ronnie Paris in 1973. Survivors include her brother, Johnnie Baca of Horseshoe, Arkansas; sister, Julie Welborn of Vidor; daughter, Betty Emmett of Fort Worth; sons, Robert Rayborn of Roswell, Georgia, Alvin Ray Schutza of Fort Worth and Eddy Schutza of Fort Worth; and children of the family, Dolores Walker of Azle, Gene Dunlap of Fort Worth and Alton Schutza of Midlothian; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and special niece, Madge “Bootsie” Shelton.

Margurite Andre
Margurite Andre, 90, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at a Hurst care center. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mrs. Andre was born May 16, 1912, to Thomas and Sally Gunter. She was a lifelong citizen of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Will Andre, four brothers and one sister. Survivors include her nephew, Wayne Gunter and wife, Linda of Bedford; niece, Connie Payne of Springtown; two great-nephews; three great-nieces; four great-great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew. Lisa Galluccio
Lisa “Frankie” Coursey Galluccio, 86, died Saturday, May 17, 2003, in Bedford. No services are scheduled at this time. Mrs. Galluccio was born June 4, 1916, in Fort Worth to Katherine and Clarence Coursey. She retired from the government in January 1980 in Washington D.C. She then moved back to Fort Worth and had made her home in the area for 23 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Anna Mae Wasik in 1999. Survivors include her nephews, Bob G. Wasik and wife, Barbara and Sean Wasik; niece, Kim Bassham and husband, Cary; great-niece, Sara Parris; and several cousins in the Azle area.

Charles Enocksen
Charles H. Enocksen, 72, a retired maintenance engineer, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at his home. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Springtown Cemetery. Mr. Enocksen was born in Hammond, Indiana. He had resided in this area since 1981. He was a member of River Oaks Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. “He did the best he could for everyone who knew him.” Survivors include his wife, Dru Enocksen; children, Richard A. Enocksen and wife, Verna, Delilah Sanders, Vera E. Southerland and husband, George, Elizabeth L. Hayhow, Karl E. Enocksen, Margaret E. Taylor, Charlotte A. Frye and husband, Marshall, Angela M. Horace Masey
Horace D. Masey, 77, a retired custodian, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, in Fort Worth. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Trail Gospel Assembly. Burial was in Smithfield Cemetery under the direction of Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Mr. Masey was born Feb. 15, 1926, in Graham. Survivors include his brother, Roy Earl Garrett and wife, Linda of Balch Springs; and cousin, Bill Evans and wife, Sammie of Azle.

Jose Navarro
Jose Navarro, 100, died May 15, 2003 in Austin. Services were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at San Lorenzo Catholic Church. Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Navarro was born Nov. 16, 1902 in Mexico. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florencia Navarro; daughter, Rosa Lopez; son, Diego Navarro; and a granddaughter, Elaine Lopez. Survivors include his wife, Elena Navarro of Lubbock; children, Caroline and Charlie Leyendecker, Julia Esparza, Emilia and Lupe Salgado of Austin, Joe Jr. and Rose Navarro of Keller, and Arthur and Mona Navarro of Springtown; stepchildren, Victor Montalvo of Lubbock, Jose and Jesus Montalvo of Richmond, Virginia, Maria E. Madison Bargsley
Madison “Butch” Frank Bargsley, Jr., 63, of Crane, died Monday, May 12, in Gardendale. Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Krueger officiating. Burial was in Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Mr. Bargsley was born July 1, 1939 in Ranger. He was a consultant in the oilfield. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam era. Survivors include his daughter, Suzzie Hurst of Burleson; sons, Tony Bargsley of Fort Worth, Madison Bargsley, III of Midland, James Bargsley of Colorado City and Michael Bargsley of Springtown; mother, Faustine Elizabeth Bargsley of Crane; sisters, Cora Ann Osborn and Sibyl Tarpley, both of Crane; brother, Kim Bargsley of Reklaw; and five grandchildren.

Pauline Howard
Services for Pauline Howard, 81, of Brownwood and formerly of Sweetwater, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Justice-Mason Funeral Home in Post. Burial was in the Terrace Cemetery in Post. Rev. Billie S. Smith officiated. Mrs. Howard was born Oct. 9, 1921. She married Albert Howard Nov. 9, 1980 in Post and lived in Midland. After retirement in 1984 they moved to Lake Brownwood. Survivors include her husband, Albert Howard of Brownwood; sons, James Clifton Patton of Austin and Lewis Ray Patton of Springtown; daughter, Paula Padgett of Mathis; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Sammy Enos
Sammy Joe Enos, 55, a transportation worker, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 after a short struggle with cancer. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Normandale Baptist Church. Winscott Road Funeral Home in Benbrook made the arrangements. Mr. Enos was born Oct. 9, 1947 in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was an OU Sooner fan and loved his children, nieces, nephews and every child he ever met. He always gave them a hug or hard time and loved to make people laugh with a joke or funny story. He could hardly wait for the Enos family reunions in Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Roxane; son, Jason; daughter, Jaime; mother, Loyce Temple; brother, David Enos and wife, Donna; sisters, Sister Trice and Rhonda Souder and husband, Gary; sister-in-law, Susan Pryor and husband, Robert; mother-in-law, mother-in-law, “Mema” Barbara Rogers; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and special friend, Leo Lopez.

Landon Watts
Landon Stone Watts, 4, a precious treasure, was taken from us on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 11, 2003, in Fort Worth. Cryptside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Greenwood Mausoleum. Landon was born Jan. 17, 1999, and gave everyone who knew him so much joy. Survivors include his grandmother, Susan Joyce of Fort Worth; friend and care provider, Sherry Sermons of Fort Worth; parents, Glenn II and Summer Watts of Keller; brothers, Kyler and Johnathon of Keller; grandmother, Renee Lindberg of Sanger; great-grandparents, W.K. and Shirley Joyce of Fort Worth; great-great-grandfather, H.L. Sandy Russey
Sandy Russey, 57, of Monahans died April 23, 2003 at her home. Services were held April 28 at Heritage Funeral Chapel in Monahans with Chaplain Gary Wallace officiating. Mrs. Russey was born Feb. 7, 1946, to Billy and Jewel Nichols in Fort Worth. She married Dale Russey on June 8, 1973 in Wichita Falls. She was a homemaker and 28-year resident of Monahans. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Dilday. Survivors include her husband, Dale Russey of Monahans; mother, Jewel Nichols of Monahans; daughters, Tina Reyes of Odessa and Adina Waits of Azle; son, Chuck Dilday of Vernon; brother, Danny Nichols of White Settlement; and six grandchildren.

Larry Greeney
Larry “Max” Greeney, 64, a retired master machinist and mechanic, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at his home. Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Azleland Memorial Park. Mr. Greeney was born in Titus County and had been an area resident since the late l940s. He was a master machinist and mechanic for Miller Brewing Co., where he retired in 2001 with 26 years of service. He was a member of Smithfield Lodge #455 A.F. & A.M. and First Baptist Church of Lakeside. Survivors include his wife, Sharon B. Greeney; children, Joel Kelley Greeney, Terri Lea Greeney, Brian Keith Greeney and Rose Michelle McPherson; sisters, Carolyn Greeney Hackney and Betty Lou Atherton; eight grandchildren; and a number of extended family members and friends.

Margaret McAlister
Margaret Carter McAlister, 82, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at home. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Weatherford under the direction of Cotten-Bratton Funeral Home in Weatherford. Mrs. McAlister was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Weatherford. She was a long-time resident of Weatherford and worked for many years for Mutual Building and Loan Association, serving as branch manager of the Springtown and Fort Worth offices. Survivors include her daughter, Marion McAlister; brother, Walter Hart Carter and wife, Virginia; and cousins, Marion Kinden and Mary E. Tate. Harold Watkins
Harold Jackson “Jack” Watkins, 79, died Friday, May 9, 2003, at his home. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Watkins was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Fort Worth to A.J. and Thelma Watkins and spent most of his life in Tarrant County. He retired after 44 years’ service with the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a Navy veteran and survivor of World War II, seeing duty in the Caribbean, Atlantic and South Pacific. He was formerly a member of Elks Lodge 399 of Texarkana; past president MCIA, Memphis, Tennessee; and LOMA, Chicago. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1100; VFW Lodge 2137, Azle; American Legion 549, Burleson; and the Fort Worth Anglers Club. Mr. Watkins graduated from the Texas A&M College system in 1952. In addition to his parents, Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Jackson “Jackie” Watkins, Jr. and Rodger Patrick “Pat” Watkins. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Corinne I. “Connie” Watkins; son, David M. Watkins; daughter, Nancy E. Woody; grandchildren, Candy McBride, Melissa Bentley, Stephanie Kaiser, Mike Watkins and John Watkins; great-grandchildren, Casey, Chantyl and Caitlin McBride, Sydney, Bailey and Tanner Tittle and Jackson Kaiser; brother, C.R. James Edmonds
James G. Edmonds, 77, a retired electrician from General Dynamics, died Thursday, May 8, 2003. Burial was in Dodge Grove Cemetery in Mattoon, Illinois. Biggers Funeral Home made the arrangements. Mr. Edmonds was born June 25, 1925, in Tescola, Illinois. He was a resident of Fort Worth for over 55 years and retired from General Dynamics in 1987. Survivors include his son, James G. Edmonds, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Azle; granddaughter, Jennifer Gunter and her husband, Jason, of Azle; and great-grandson, Logan Gunter. William Massey
William Ray Massey, 36, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Euless. Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Azle. Arrangements were made by White’s Azle Funeral Home. Mr. Massey was born June 16, 1966, in Grand Prairie. He co-owned Massey Fence Construction Co. in Azle. He was preceded in death by his father, William Wayne Massey, in 1976 and a sister, Deborah Sue Gifford, in 1983. Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Barker and husband, Billy of Grand Prairie; brother, Darrell Massey of Azle; sisters, Patricia Hamlin of Azle and Tina Roberson of Grand Prairie; stepbrother, Lon Howard Barker and wife, Kim of Arlington; grandparents, Mary Elwood of Boron, California, and Charlene Dubious of Arlington; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Shauna Hampsten
Shauna Hampsten, 49, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, in Fort Worth. Services were held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Chapel. Private burial was in Memory Garden’s Cemetery under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home. Mrs. Hampsten was born Nov. 26, 1953, in Azle. She was preceded in death by her father, K.L. Marchbanks. Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Kenny Hampsten; daughter, Laura Hampsten; son, Zachary Hampsten; grandson, Jake Andrew; aunt, Lois Stailey, all of Fort Worth; numerous other family members; and many friends.

Don Flowers
Don Flowers, 78, a loving grandfather, father and brother, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 after a short battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones. Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Greenwood Chapel. Burial was in Springtown Cemetery under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Flowers was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Idabelle, Oklahoma. He belonged to the White Settlement Masonic Lodge #1372 for over 50 years and was known as “Dad” to many Demolay members. He was also a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #1053 for 45 years. Mr. Flowers was an accomplished wood carver and artist and loved giving miniature landscapes to everyone, especially the staff at Peach Tree Care Center. He was a master carpenter and landscaper, owning his own lawn care business for over 35 years after being employed with Swift’s Meat Packaging for 26 years until its final closing. His gift to life was his joy to spread humor, his honesty, integrity and his will to go beyond what was expected of him to help someone in need. He will be greatly missed for his kindness and caring ways by all those who were blessed to know him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine, in February 2001. Survivors include his daughter, LaDonna Williams and husband, Clint, of Springtown; son, Richard Flowers and wife, Loretta, of Tyler; brother, Buster Flowers and wife, Betty, of Fort Worth; sister, Francis Ingram of Casper, Wyoming; grandsons, Duane Flowers and wife, Stacy, of Fort Worth and T.J. Doty of Springtown; granddaughter, Lacy Doty of Springtown; great-granddaughters, Ashley Flowers and Paige Doty of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.

John D. Toomey
John D. Toomey, 83, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at his home in Springtown. Private services were held. Mr. Toomey was born in Aurora, Illinois. He married Marjorie Ann Boisdorf on Dec. 20, 1946. John was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Marjorie Ann Toomey; sons, Daniel Toomey Sr. and wife, Susan, of Springtown, Paul Toomey and wife, Coletta, of Sparks, Nevada; daughter, Margo Lipinski and husband, Richard, of Antioch, Illinois; brother, Paul Toomey of Houston; and grandchildren, Dan Toomey, Jr., Michael Toomey, Melanie Whitehead, Scott Toomey and Garrett Toomey.

Raymond Shelton
Raymond R. Shelton, 79, a retired carpenter, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lone Camp Community Center in Lone Camp. Burial was in Santo North Cemetery. Mr. Shelton was born March 3, 1924, in Lone Camp, the son of Otis and Hattie Brown Shelton. He was a merchant marine veteran of World War II and a working man’s friend. Survivors include his sons, Gary Shelton of Haltom City, Tommy and Mickey Shelton of Azle; Lynn Shelton of Fort Worth; brothers, Eugene and James Shelton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and longtime friend, Bette Ammann.
