Charles Innes McCrary
VERNON, Texas – Charles Innes McCrary, 71, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Vernon with Dr. Chuck Fisher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park in Vernon under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mr. McCrary was born March 30, 1927. He and Velma Jo Bridges were married Dec. 28, 1956, in Dallas. He attended Vernon public schools where he played in the band for four years. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1944. He attended Texas Tech, East Texas State and Midwestern University, where he received his degree in 1953. He played with the Gordie Kilgore Orchestra during his college years. He served in the Merchant Marines and also in the Army during and after World War II. He was a member of the Army Marching Band while in the Army. He was a lifelong resident of Wilbarger County. He was involved in farming and ranching in Wilbarger County. He was an accountant and retired from Wright Brand Foods in 1994. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Vernon and was a past member of the Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn M. Jackson of Dallas; a son, Mark Alan of Dallas; two sisters, Emily King of Vernon and Ann Glass of Bloomfield, N.M.; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home today from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Vernon.

Loraine Mae Hromas
OLNEY, Texas – Loraine Mae Williams Hromas, 74, of Olney died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James E. Mayo, pastor of Fairview Assembly of God of Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Hromas was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Holliday, Texas. She and Eugene Hromas were married Jan. 31, 1943, in Wichita Falls. He died Aug. 4, 1992. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Olney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara Guidry of Many, La., Anita Ragland of San Antonio, Texas, Brenda Gammon of Olney and Becky Burt of Olney; a sister, Ollie Bonnin of Olney; two brothers, J.B. Williams of Wichita Falls and Don Williams of Caddo, Texas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Charlie Caroland
Charlie Roland Caroland, 100, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in a Wichita Falls care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Church of Christ in Charlie, Texas, with Mike Priddy officiating. Burial will be in Charlie Cemetery under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Caroland was born May 12, 1898, in Woodlawn, Tenn. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ in Charlie.
Survivors include two sons, Gene of Charlie and Myron of Kamay; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Mary Gay Robertson
OLNEY, Texas – Mary Gay Hudson Robertson, 96, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in her Olney home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Sansom of Waco, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham, Texas, under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson was born Oct. 4, 1901, in Graham, Texas. She and Dr. Edward Fern Robertson were married Nov. 8, 1923, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He died Dec. 10, 1989. She had lived in Olney since 1923. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as an organist for more than 45 years. She was a charter member of the Junior Altruistic Club. She was also a member of the Olney Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary and the Silas Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Graham. She attended school in Graham and attended College at Kidd Key in Sherman, Texas. She also attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Converse College in Spartenburg, S.C. She was a homemaker. A daughter, Marjorie Ann Key, died April 10, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Joe E. Robertson of Graham; two daughters, Mary Gay Larance of Wichita Falls and Kay Cromartie of Atlanta; a sister, Dorothy Gruby of Graham; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Hamilton Hospital or the Olney Public Library.

Travis Francel Hart
Travis Francel Hart, 77, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grant Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gene Browder officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Hart was born June 13, 1921, in Sadler, Texas. He and Naomi Brown were married Oct. 3, 1925, in Henrietta, Texas. He served in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He served for six years in the Pacific during World War II. He was an education specialist for Civil Service at Sheppard Air Force Base for 35 years. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Pythias, a member of VFW Post No. 2147, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP and Fun After Fifty Club. He was a member of Grant Street United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Phyllis Mitchell of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Billy Ray of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Grant Street United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls.

Lillian M. McKinney
FREDERICK, Okla. – Lillian M. McKinney, 80, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at her Frederick residence following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Burkhardt Chapel in Frederick Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gish Funeral Home.
Mrs. McKinney was born July 5, 1918, in Douthat, Okla. She and Hesper Alexander McKinney were married March 11, 1938, in Frederick. He died Aug. 3, 1986. She grew up in Frederick and graduated from Frederick High School. She was on the dietary staff at the Frederick Memorial Hospital for more than 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. A son, Leland Hesper McKinney, died in January 1940.
Survivors include two sons, Mike of Melbourne, Australia, and Robert D. of Naperville, Ill.; a daughter, Gloria McKinney of Frederick; two sisters, Ruth Russell of Bakersfield, Calif., and Edith Leslie of Gardenia, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer Association or the Jackson County Memorial Hospice.
Rabie Austin Allen
Rabie Austin Allen, 83, of Wichita Falls died Friday, July 31, 1998, at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery in Texarkana, Texas, with the Rev. Steve Shipley, pastor of Flower Mound Baptist Church of Texarkana, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Allen was born Oct. 24, 1914, in Ravana, Texas. She was a homemaker. A son, Donald Allen, died in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Ronald of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Martha Shepherd of Nederland, Texas, and Teresa Walls of Moore, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Ida G. Medlock Upham
OLNEY, Texas – Ida G. Medlock Upham, 95, of Olney died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at an Olney nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lunn Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Lunsford of Olney officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Olney.
Mrs. Upham was born Feb. 18, 1903, in Wynnewood, Okla. She and Charles E. Upham were married July 20, 1922, in Bentonville, Ark. He died June 5, 1972. She had been a resident of Olney since 1967, and had lived in California, Arizona and Slaton, Texas. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the First Christian Church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, C.E. Upham, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio, and LeRoy of Olney; a brother, Al Medlock of Stockton, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Harold B. Wilson
BURKBURNETT – Harold B. Wilson, 73, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at his Burkburnett residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Tim Russell, pastor of First Baptist Church of Burkburnett, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
Mr. Wilson was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Bells, Texas. He and Thelma Thompson were married May 25, 1946. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving during World War II. He was the former owner of Downtown Wheel and Alignment in Wichita Falls. He was a master mason and involved in Meals on Wheels. He was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church of Burkburnett.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Wilson of Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Janice Meaders of Pilot Point, Texas; a sister, Louise Sonamaker of Spur, Texas; and four grandchildren.

Anna Belle Lewis
CHILDRESS, Texas – Anna Belle Lewis, 89, of Childress died Friday, July 31, 1998, in Childress.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery with Tom Lewis and the Rev. Alan Egerton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lewis was born Aug. 8, 1908, in DeQueen, Ark. Her husband, Flethcher, died March 19, 1983. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, June Cast of Childress; a stepson, Tom Lewis of Wellington, Texas; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Charlie Shive
ARCHER CITY, Texas – Charlie Shive, 63, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in an Archer City nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Archer City Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor of First United Methodist Church, and Richard Siewert officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Shive was born July 19, 1935, in Pleasant Hill, Ill. He moved to Alton, Ill., where he graduated from Alton High School in 1953. He attended school in California. He moved to Texas in 1970 to continue his trade of horseshoeing and cutting horses. He lived and worked on several West Texas ranches until 1977, when he moved to the King Ranch as their chief horseshoer. He then became manager of the King Ranch brood mare and foal operations.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim Whitsitt of Archer City; a son, Jason of DeLeon, Texas; his mother, Beatrice Oram of Bethalto, Ill.; and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to the Archer Public Library, P.O. Box 957, Archer City, Texas 76351.

Betty Yandell
LUBBOCK, Texas – Betty Yandell, 68, of Lubbock, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Wiseman and the Rev. Barbara Yandell officiating. Burial will be in Weinert, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Yandell was born May 25, 1930, in Olton, Texas. She and Howard Yandell were married Feb. 9, 1951, in Lubbock. She graduated from Olton High School. She was a member of the Museum Association, the Women’s Council, the Lubbock Women’s Club, the Lubbock Symphony Guild, the Women’s Division of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce and the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Steven Dean of Lubbock; two daughters, Kay Yandell Tooley of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Barbara Yandell of Holland Mich.; three brothers, Robert C. Hall of Ontario, Calif., Elmo Hall of Petersburg, Texas, and Joe Hall of Olton; three sisters, Fannie Copeland of Olton, Dede Hays of Escondido, Calif., and Ina Faye Coffey of North Hills, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church parlor following services.
Memorials may be made to the Lubbock Women’s Club, 2020 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas 79401; or the First United Methodist Church Everliving Trust, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas 79401.

Warren Cribbs
VERNON, Texas – Warren Cribbs, 67, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Strange and the Rev. Ron Fox officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery.
Mr. Cribbs was born May 7, 1931, in Chillicothe, Texas. He and Patsy Deen Davis were married in 1954 in Childress. He was a graduate of Chillicothe High School. He served in the Navy in the early 1950s as a diesel mechanic. He was a retired miller at Vernon Cellanese Plant. He was a longtime resident of Wilbarger and Hardeman counties. He was a member of Chillicothe Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Warren Cribbs of Childress; two daughters, Sherry Torres of Oklaunion, Texas, and Katra Blacksher of Vernon; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will be at the Augusta Apartments No. 223 in Vernon.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bessie Edessa Doss
GRANDFIELD, Okla. – Bessie Edessa Doss, 85, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at a Lawton, Okla., hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Grandfield with the Rev. Barry Hardin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Grandfield Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Doss was born March 9, 1913, in Paris, Texas. She and Roy H. Doss were married March 15, 1939, in Grandfield. He died Nov. 23, 1979. She moved to Grandfield early in her life and graduated from Grandfield High School. She was a cook at Grandfield public schools for many years, and owned several restaurants in Grandfield in the 1960s and the 1970s. She was also employed with food service at Sheppard Air Force Base. She was a charter member of Pleasant Mound Baptist Church, which later became Calvary Baptist Church. A son, Philip Roy, died in 1946. A daughter, Beverly Jo Bender, died July 6, 1970. A daughter, Margaret Ann Wood, died March 13, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Randy Nolan of Grandfield; three sisters, Helen Byrns of Duncan, Okla., Celia F. Simms and Doris J. Carroll, both of Grandfield; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.

Mabel F. Ash Dotson
FREDERICK, Okla. – Mabel F. Ash Dotson, 93, of Frederick died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at a Tillman County hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Gish Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Copeland, pastor of First Christian Church of Walters, Okla., officiating. A private family burial will follow the services in Frederick Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Dotson was born Jan. 14, 1905, in Tillman County. She and James T. Ash were married Feb. 19, 1924. He died Sept. 16, 1952. She and Thomas L. ‘Son’ Dotson were married Dec. 30, 1960. He died Feb. 20, 1968. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge.
Survivors include a son, James L. Ash of Frederick; a sister, Sallie Spain of Frederick; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

William C. Marshall
FREDERICK, Okla. – William C. ‘Bill’ Marshall, 96, of Frederick died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at a Frederick nursing center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gish Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Pete Wylie, pastor of Hollister Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hackberry Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Marshall was born April 5, 1902, in Italy, Texas. He and Gladys Stewart were married in 1926. She died Dec. 24, 1928. He moved to the Hackberry Flat area in 1919. He was a farmer for many years.
Survivors include a son, Alfred C. of Frederick; a daughter, Anna Bes Stewart of Lubbock, Texas; one granddaughter; one great-grandchild; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hackberry Flat Cemetery Fund.

Lloyd E. Luck
CHILDRESS, Texas – Lloyd E. Luck, 78, of Brownwood, Texas, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in Brownwood.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johnny Robertson, pastor, and the Rev. Hoyt Ellis of Hollis, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Dryden Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Luck was born March 14, 1920, in Hollis. He and Janice Wegner were married June 6, 1981, in Wheeler, Texas. He served in the South Pacific during World War II with the Navy Air Transport Division. He had lived in the Lake Brownwood area for the past five years. He was a retired fireman with the Childress Fire Department for 32 years, 13 of which he served as fire chief. He taught fire safety at Texas A & M University for 13 years, and served as president of the Panhandle Fireman’s Association. He was a member of the Childress V.F.W., the Childress Riders Club and was a Red Cross Volunteer for many years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Childress.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Linda Dove of Albuquerque, N.M., Judy Palmer of Forney, Texas, and Vickie Clark of Kaufman, Texas; two stepdaughters, Chrystal Miller of Killeen, Texas, and Julie Johnson of Leesville, La.; a sister, Pauline Tiner of Dallas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.

Sharon Lanette Ramsey
JACKSBORO, Texas – Sharon Lanette Ramsey, 40, of Jermyn, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Jack County.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Jay Lockhart of Jermyn Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Ramsey was born July 11, 1948, in Jacksboro. She and Brad Ramsey were married July 13, 1984, in Jacksboro. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a nurse for Palo Pinto Home Health.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ressa Pippin of Jermyn; two sons, B.J. and Ryan, both of Jermyn; her father and stepmother, Dean and Sue Fenter of Jacksboro; and her mother, Dorothy Butler of Jacksboro.

Opal Frances Burns
Opal Frances Burns, 78, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Crestview Memorial Park with L. Keith Parker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burns was born July 30, 1920, in Homany, Okla. She was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five daughters, Jolinda Lobdell of New York, N.Y., Jean Ann Thompson of Las Vegas, Nev., Nona Blackwell of Rhome, Texas, Judy Jackson of Wichita Falls and Charlotte Keith of Wichita Falls; three sons, Ollis of Las Vegas, and Darrell and Michael Gilbert, both of Wichita Falls; 28 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
