Mary Clarida Gaines
OLNEY, Texas - Mary Clarida Gaines, 85, formerly of Olney, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in a Cleburne, Texas, nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Restland Cemetery with the Rev. Max Burkhead, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gaines was born Oct. 18, 1912, in Loving, Texas. She and Claudie Gaines were married in 1933 in Lawton, Okla. He died July 2, 1969. She had been a longtime resident of Olney until moving to Cleburne five years ago. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She and her husband owned several businesses in Olney, including the Y Café for 14 years. She was also a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Mike of Cleburne; and a sister, Frances Branch of Quitman, Texas.

Barbara Howe
Barbara Howe, 90, died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, in a Wichita Falls retirement center.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Melvin Bradley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Howe was born Jan. 3, 1908. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church. She taught primary Sunday School for 50 years. She had lived in Wichita Falls for 18 years.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Nora ‘Noni‘ Mehan
APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. – Nora “Noni” Mehan, 78, of Apache Junction died Friday, July 31, 1998.
No services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Apache Junction Mortuary.
Mrs. Mehan was born in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. She became a U.S. Citizen March 16, 1967. She was a teaching artist and taught art at Central Arizona College in Apache Junction for several years. She had a studio in Wichita Falls until 1979 but taught mostly out of her home.
Survivors include a daughter, Sandee Brough of Queen Creek, Ariz.; two sons, Greg of Mesa, Ariz., and Gary of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Charles Edmon Ferguson, Jr.
JACKSBORO, Texas – Charles Edmon Ferguson, Jr., 55, of Bangs, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in Bangs.
Graveside services will be at 8 a.m. Saturday in Wesley Chapel in Jack County, Texas, with the Rev. Craig Lile, pastor of Live-Oak Baptist Church of Jacksboro, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Ferguson was born June 30, 1943, in Graham, Texas. He had lived in Graham, Texas, Wichita Falls, Jacksboro, and Mineral Wells, Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Mica Lyn Liggett of Moses Lake, Wash.; a son, Charles Edmon Ferguson III of Moses Lake; three sisters, Charlotte Marshall, Marie McDaniel, and Verlene Thurman all of Jacksboro; and four granchildren.

Buena Vista England
HENRIETTA, Texas – Buena Vista England, 97, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in her Newport, Texas, residence.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bluegrove Cemetery with David Hall, minister of Carter Lake Church of Christ of Bowie, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mrs. England was born Jan. 15, 1901, in Forrestburg, Texas. She and Claude England were married Sept. 3, 1921, in Clay County, Texas. He died April 17, 1972. She was a homemaker and had been a member of Bluegrove Church of Christ since 1939. A son, William Claude, died Dec. 27, 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Alexander of Newport; a sister, Buelah Hodges of Alvord, Texas; a brother, Paul Kuikendall of Hopewell, W.Va.; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice.

Terry Lynn Wesley
OLNEY, Texas – Terry Lynn Wesley, 45, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in an Olney hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Wesley was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of Olney. He attended Cooke County Junior College and worked as an auto mechanic and machine operator. He was an avid fisherman and loved to play baseball.
Survivors include two sons, Chris of Krum, Texas, and Clint of Gilmer, Texas; his parents, R.E. and Ruby Etta of Olney; a sister, Brenda Holeman of Olney; and a grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church.

Mary Williams
IOWA PARK – Mary Gertrude Wren Williams, 96, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Dutton Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis Koger, chaplain of San Marcos Baptist Academy, and the Rev. Andy Krebs, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Kamay, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 16, 1901, in Donie, Texas. She and William Madison Williams were married Dec. 25, 1923, in Donie. He died June 12, 1982. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Kamay. She had lived in Iowa Park for 68 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Zona Parnell of Abilene, Texas, and Madrey Wall of Fort Worth; four sons, Felton of Iowa Park, Glynn of Rockdale, Texas, Hayes of Arlington, Texas, and Roland of Abilene; a sister, Peachie Baty of Teague, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

John Ellis Rouswell
John Ellis Rouswell, 83, died Friday, July 31, 1998, in his Valley View, Texas, residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Round Timber Cemetery with Benard Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Rouswell was born Jan. 22, 1915, in Hatfield, Ark. He was raised in Baylor County, Texas. He had lived in Ardmore, Okla., for many years before moving to Valley View about 35 years ago. He owned Rouswell’s Help-Yourself Laundry in Ardmore and Valley View. He was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Survivors include a sister, Ceemie Bell Denning of Justin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert Prunty
JACKSBORO, Texas – Robert Prunty, 89, of Jacksboro, died Aug. 6, 1998, in Jacksboro.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker Funeral Home Chapel with Brad Fry officiating. Burial will be in Cundiff Cemetery in Jack County, Texas.
Mr. Prunty was born May 29, 1909, in Cundiff, Texas. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of North Oak Church of Christ in Mineral Wells, Texas.
Survivors include a son, Robert Prunty of Van Nuys, Calif.; a brother, Luther Prunty of Jacksboro; a sister, Bertha Jane Young of Garland, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Jack Doyal Mooney
CHILDRESS, Texas – Jack Doyal Mooney, 76, of Childress, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in Childress.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Chapel of Childress with the Rev. Jim McCurley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under the direction Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Mooney was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Anna, Texas. He and Rita Mooney were married Jan. 15, 1944, in Gainesville, Texas. She died Feb. 12, 1994. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He owned and operated Mooney’s Auto Paint and Body Shop. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church of Childress.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Baker of Childress; a son, Doyle Wayne of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, Tommy Mooney of Childress; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Doris Walker Belk
Doris Musette Walker Belk, 77, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the University United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Larry George and Dr. Bob Lee officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Memorial Park in Oklahoma City with the Rev. Wayne Jarboe officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mrs. Belk was born March 6, 1921, in Emory, Texas. She and Roy D. Belk were married May 28, 1938. He died Nov. 23, 1995. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City and from Bay City College of Medical Assistants in 1968. She was a co-owner and operator of Belk Enterprises – Texas Mobile Homes and Texas Travel Trailers in Lewisville, Texas. She was the founder of Land of Little People Nursery in Oklahoma City. She was a member of University United Methodist Church Friendship Class and Beta Sigma Phi.
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Oden of Wichita Falls and Patricia Trout of Highland Village, Texas; two sisters, Lila Norriss of Wichita Falls and Ruth Jarboe of Lake Texhoma, Texas; a brother, Carl L. Walker of Lake Eufaula, Okla.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to University United Methodist Church or American Diabetes Association.

Bea Bowman
BOWIE, Texas – Bea Bowman, 80, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at her Bowie residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church of Bowie with the Rev. Ron Abbott, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Newport, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bowman was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Stoneburg, Texas. She and Dick Throckmorton were married Jan. 6, 1935, in Bowie. She and Wayne Bowman were married July 20, 1952, in Bowie. He died April 20, 1985. She was a retired nurses aide for Bellmire Healthcare in Bowie and a lifetime resident of Bowie. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bowie.
Survivors include two daughters, Alta Jean Cambre and Jackie Simpson both of Bowie; five sons, Deryl, James, Loyd, and Kirt Throckmorton all of Bowie, and Weldon Throckmorton of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister, Lucille Cox of Bowie; 31 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Connie Ellis
FREDERICK, Okla. – Connie Ellis, 43, of Lawton, Okla., died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Lawton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Loyd Logan officiating. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ellis was born Sept. 13, 1954, in Clinton, Okla. She and Michael Ellis were married June 8, 1986, in Lawton. She lived in Frederick for 17 years where she joined the First Baptist Church at a young age. She moved to Wichita, Kan., and graduated from Wichita Kansas Senior High School. She later moved to Lawton and worked as a certified nurses aide for many years. She lived in Germany for five years. She returned to Lawton in 1995 and became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Graylon Mayberry of Lawton; her father, Orel Mayberry, Sr. of Frederick; three sisters, Balerie and Monique Mayberry of Lawton, and Laverne Mayberry of Frederick; and five brothers, Tommy Carl Mayberry of Los Angeles, Calif., Larry Randle Mayberry of Wichita, Ronny Mayberry of Wichita Falls, Orel Mayberry, Jr. and Eric Mayberry both of Frederick.
Memorials may be made to the Mayberry Family, P.O. Box 205, Frederick, Okla. 73542.

Leo Huff
GAINESVILLE, Texas – Leo Huff, 86, of Gainesville, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in a Lewisville hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
Mr. Huff was born Sept. 20, 1911, in Idabel, Okla. He and Lois Fern Benningfield were married Sept. 3, 1944, in Merkel, Texas. She died Nov. 8, 1993. He was a self employed horse trainer. He was a former member of the Cowboy Turtles Association, the R.C.A., the National Cutting Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include a son, Anthony of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Dianne Otwell of Lewisville, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County.

Ronny Osborn
OLNEY, Texas – Ronny Osborn, 35, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in an Olney hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Lunn Funeral Home with the Rev. Andy Graham, pastor of Southside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Osborn was born Oct. 19, 1962, in Olney. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He graduated from Olney High School in 1982 and worked as a cook at Rodge’s Restaurant for 10 years. He was a lifetime resident of Olney.
Survivors include his parents, Lewis and Shirley Osborn of Olney; a sister, Vicki Gibson of Houston; and his grandmother, Bertha Osborn of Wichita Falls.

Nancy Kay Cox
FORT WORTH, Texas – Nancy Kay Cox, 45, of Fort Worth, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in a Forth Worth hospital.
Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Baumgardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Evans officiating.
Mrs. Cox was born Jan. 13, 1953, in Fort Hood, Texas. She and John Douglas Cox were married Dec. 22, 1972, in Wichita Falls. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Fort Worth.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jason Lee Cox of Fort Worth; a daughter, Charolette Ann Cox of Arlington, Texas; her mother, Pauline Aaron of Wichita Falls; and a brother, Terry Aaron of Waurika, Okla.

Linford A. Rogers
SEYMOUR, Texas – Linford A. Rogers, 76, of Raton, N.M., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998.
Memorial services will be today at the family home in Raton. A celebration of Mr. Rogers‘ life will be in September in Sante Fe, N.M.
Mr. Rogers was born Nov. 1, 1921, in Jacksboro, Texas. He and Nan Sue Avery were married April 27, 1942. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1940. He attended North Texas Agricultural College, now the University of Texas at Arlington. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corp where he served as a lieutenant and a B-25 pilot. He was involved in the ranching business after World War II in Northern New Mexico with his father. He was a talented western artist as well as a good business man. He was a member of Saint John’s Methodist Church in Sante Fe.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Sue Rutherford; two sons, Samuel and Michael; and two grandsons.
Nita Russell Shumate
SEYMOUR, Texas – Nita Russell Shumate, 89, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, in a Seymour hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Glen Shock officiating. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery in Seymour under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shumate was born July 12, 1909, in McClennan County, Texas. She and Irvin Shumate were married in 1929 in Seymour. He died June 15, 1992. She moved to Seymour as a child. She worked as a bookkeeper for several businesses in Seymour before she retired. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janie Kisinger and Wanda Hatter both of Seymour; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Red Springs Baptist Church, or charity of donor’s choice.

Ida Gadling
Ida Gadling, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, in her Wichita Falls residence.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, in Eastlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Reginal Blow officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Young & Company Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gadling was born Feb. 2, 1915, in Taylor, Texas. Her husband, Grady Gadling, died in 1993. She had lived in Wichita Falls for 55 years, coming from Taylor. She was a household technician. She retired from First Wichita National Bank. She was a member of Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Mabelle Ellison of Wichita Falls.

Mary Beth Murphy
BOWIE, Texas – Mary Beth Murphy, 40, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in her residence in Montague, Texas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at St. William’s Catholic Church in Montague with the Rev. John Stasiowski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Montague Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Murphy was born March 24, 1958, in Alton, Ill. She and Douglas Murphy were married Sept. 17, 1983, in Montague. She attended Saint Boniface Junior High School and Edwardsville High School in Edwardsville, Ill. She had been a resident of Bowie for 12 years before moving to Montague four years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Saint William’s Catholic Church where she was president of the Saint William’s Altar Society and a member of the Saint William’s Catholic Church Choir.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Eleanor Wooster of Edwardsville, Ill.; five sisters, Gloria Brines of Bunker Hill, Ill., Jane Cox of Carrollton, Ill., Bonnie Hager of Montague, Patsy Hite of Glen Carbon, Ill., and Judy Dunfree of Middlebrook, Ill.; and six brothers, Charles Wooster of Princeton, Texas, Dean Wooster of Gurnee, Ill., David Wooster of Edwardsville, Elmer Wooster of Tioga, Texas, Mike Wooster of Bowie, and Mark Wooster of Bagdad, Ariz.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2304 Midwestern Parkway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308 or Hospice of Rural Texas, 705 East Greenwood Avenue, Bowie, Texas 76230.

Ferne Franks
NOCONA, Texas – Ferne Franks, 87, of Lakewood, Colo., died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, in Lakewood.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Ringgold Cemetery with the Rev. Don Hendrix officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Mrs. Franks was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Byers, Texas. Her husband, J.O. ‘Red’ Franks, died Jan. 21, 1974. She was a dress shop owner.
Survivors include her sister, Sarah Maxey of Ringgold, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
