John T. Robertson
GRAHAM, Texas – John T. Robertson, 100, of Graham died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, in a Graham hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Morrison Funeral Home with Elder W.A. “Sonny” Pyles, pastor of Medlan Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Robertson was born July 8, 1898, in Graham. He and Maudie Carter were married Jan. 19, 1919, in Graham. She died Oct. 31, 1976. He and Mary Lena Ashley were married June 9, 1977, in Graham. He was a lifetime resident of young County and was a farmer. He was a member of Medlan Chapel Primitive Baptist Church
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John T. Jr. of Graham and Monroe Robertson of Jean, Texas; two stepdaughters, Deborah Lapp of Homer, N.Y., and Lucretia Steck of Lubbock, Texas; a stepson, Jerry Ashley of Graham; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Ima S. Ball
WAURIKA, Okla. – Ima S. Ball, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Graveside services at 2 p.m. today in Waurika Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Willis C. Worley & Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ball was born Feb. 15, 1921, in Waurika. She and Loffie Ball were married April 17, 1937, in Waurika. He died April 23, 1993. She attended both Sugden, Okla., and Temple, Okla., public schools. She began working for the Haggar Slack Co. in Temple and retired in 1977 after 30 years of service. Her son, L.B. Ball, died in 1956. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Esther Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a daughter, Kaylene Everett of Wichita Falls; a sister, Flora Guinn of Waurika; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Waurika.

Hubert Ray Kniceley
Hubert Ray Kniceley, 54, of Lewisville, Texas died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, in Lewisville.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Beals of Magnolia Baptist Church in Cheyenne, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Kniceley was born Aug. 5, 1944, in Killeen, Texas. He was a former resident of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include two sisters, Vera Allison of Wichita Falls and Vertie Stanley of Dallas; and four brothers, John Henry Scarlett of Throckmorton, Texas, George Scarlett of Bedford, Texas, Eddie Byrkett of Grapevine, Texas, and Bobby Joe Walton of Port Carolina, Fla.

Mary Alice Dodson
Mary Alice Dodson, 86, of Archer City died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a local hospice center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Willie Johnson of First United Methodist Church of Archer City officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dodson was born Sept. 18, 1912, in Winters, Texas. She and R.N. Dodson were married May 14, 1936, in Winters, Texas. He died Nov. 12, 1978. She was a cook for senior citizens of Archer City. She moved to Wichita Falls from Archer City in 1979. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Richard of Lakeside City; two daughters, Arlene Blackburn of Archer City, and Plannah Scarbrough of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Mary Alyce Dodson
Mary Alyce Dodson, 86, of Archer City died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospice center.

James A. Rogers
James A. Rogers, 66, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Hampton Vaughan Crestview with the Rev. Tom Lyda, associate pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.
Mr. Rogers was born July 4, 1932, in Burkburnett. He and Bette Johnson Morris were married Aug. 30, 1957, in Wichita Falls. He graduated from Midwestern University in 1957 and served in the Marines during the Korean War. He was a former accountant and vice president of Beacon Insurance Group for 21 years before retiring in 1990. He was a Protestant and a member of North Texas Field and Stream Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jaime Keel and Shannon Harmon, both of Wichita Falls; two sons, Bradley Allen Rogers of California and Charles B. Johnson of Pasadena, Texas; two sisters, Lois Price of Dallas and Barbara Wilkerson of Duncanville, Texas; a brother, Glenn Leon Rogers of Friendship, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to A.R.E. Volunteer Fire Department at Lake Arrowhead Ranch Estates.

Leslie Harold Alexander
Leslie Harold Alexander, 79, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in his home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview with the Rev. Terry Bowman, pastor of Lamar Baptist Church, and the Rev. Larry Brownfield, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Alexander was born April 9, 1919, in Baird, Texas. He served in the Army Air Forces during World War II as a crew chief on a B29. He was a insurance agent for American National Insurance Co. for 10 years and was a former member of Lamar Baptist Church. He had lived in Wichita Falls since 1964. His granddaughter, Leslie Eleanor Alexander, died Aug. 5, 1983.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; two sons, Harold L. Alexander of Richardson, Texas, and Wayne Alexander of Arlington, Texas; two daughters, Sheryl Alexander and Linda Gullette, both of Wichita Falls; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to American Heart Association.

Margarita M. Ayala
Margarita Minjarez Ayala, 69, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home with the Rev. Josh Ibarra, pastor of Primera Iglesia Bautista of Wichita Falls, and the Rev. Enos Flores of Frederick, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Ayala was born June 10, 1929, in Converse, Texas. She and Felix Ayala were married in 1969 in Wichita Falls. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She moved to Wichita Falls from Fort Worth in 1963 and was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Josefa Garza of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Sylvia Fino of Wichita Falls and Olga De Lao of San Antonio; a sister, Ophelia David of Dallas; two brothers, Ralph Garza Jr and Carlos Minjarez, both of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. today.

Helen H. Gathings
GRAHAM, Texas – Helen H. Gathings, 80, of Graham died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999, in a Graham care center.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Pioneer Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy McNeil, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gathings was born May 15, 1918, in Megargel, Texas. Her husband, J.W. “Dub” Gathings, died Aug. 29, 1987. She was a longtime resident of Graham and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two nieces, Edna Cox and Dona Davis, both of Graham, Texas; and two nephews, Laney Parsons of Graham and Billy Howard Blackwood of Indianapolis.

Richard Lowell Gibby
AUSTIN -- Richard Lowell Gibby, 59, of Round Rock, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 1, 1999.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at C.D. Fulkes auditorium. Private graveside services will be in Palm Valley Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home.
Mr. Gibby was born Dec. 17, 1939, in Mercedes, Texas. He and Nancy Gibby were married in 1961. He began his teaching career in 1962 in Donna, Texas, and was working as an administrative assistant for University Interscholastic League music office at the University of Texas. He was a member of TBA, TMEA, a charter member of TMAA, Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Mu Alpha. The bands he directed won 27 sweepstakes awards in his 32 years of teaching and were honor band finalists three times. His bands achieved top honors at various music festivals in Texas, Florida and Colorado. He participated in the Tournament of Roses Parade in 1984 with the Round Rock Independent School District Band. In 1982, he participated in the Goodwill Ambassadorship to Mexico. He mentored many successful band directors as well as helped many students win first division ratings at contest and at state concert. After retiring in 1994 from RRISD, he continued to be an adjudicator and clinician for various musical contests in the state of Texas, as well as continuing to teach private lessons.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Edith Gibby of Greenville, Texas; a daughter, Kimberley L. Gellner of Round Rock; and a grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Lone Star Hospice, the Band Scholarship Fund Round Rock High School and the South Texas AUS Chapter.

Jerry G. York
BRECKENRIDGE, Texas – Jerry G. York, 54, of Breckenridge died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church with the Rev. Mike Spencer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds’ Ranch Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. York was born Feb. 20, 1944, in Arkansas Pass, Texas. He and Patsy Reynolds were married Aug. 26, 1963, in Breckenridge. He grew up in Henrietta, Texas, and graduated from Jacksboro, Texas, High School. He moved from Lubbock to Breckenridge in 1966 and worked for Baxley Manufacturing as plant manager from 1973 until 1988. He was a chef and a woodworker. He was a member of Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Carrie Hopkins of Stanton, Texas, Laurie Miles of Abilene, Texas, and Misty York of San Angelo, Texas; two brothers, Leon York of Keller, Texas, and Bobby York of Henrietta; a sister, Pat Wilson of Archer City, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Lord’s Old Time Gospel Church. They may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.
