Lela Gage Banner
Lela Gage Banner, 103, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls with the Rev. Isaac Butterworth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery under direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Banner was born June 29, 1895, in Pleasant Valley, Texas. She and C.C. 'Jack' Banner were married Oct. 24, 1916, in Austin. He died in September 1978. She worked in sales most of her life. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Eastern Star.
Survivors include a son, Jack Gage Banner of Wichita Falls; a sister, Lenore Duke of Baytown, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-6 p.m. today.

Vera Jo 'Alcorn' Cook
SAINT JO, Texas - Vera Jo 'Alcorn' Cook, 85, of Saint Jo died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in Forestburg, Texas.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at McCoy Funeral Home in Saint Jo. Burial will be in Mountain Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Cook was born July 28, 1913, in Montague County, Texas. She and Cordell Day Cook were married on June 20, 1947, in Saint Jo. He died Jan. 23, 1990. She lived in Saint Jo most of her life. She owned and operated beauty parlors in Saint Jo for many years. She was also a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Charles Cook of Covington, La.; and three grandchildren.

Della Kellar
OLNEY, Texas - Della Kellar, 82, of Megargel, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in an Olney nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Dan Hooper, pastor of the Christian Fellowship Church in Megargel, officiating. Burial will be in Megargel Cemetery under direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kellar was born July 24, 1916, in Hollis, Okla. She and J.D. Kellar were married Dec. 7, 1935, in Georgetown, Texas. He died Nov. 2, 1986. She was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church and was a homemaker. She had been a resident of Breckenridge, Texas, since 1956.
Survivors include five sons, Gene Kellar, Charles Kellar and Stevy Kellar, all of Megargel, Jimmy Kellar of Terrell, Texas, and Dennis Kellar of Olney, Texas; three daughters, Marquette Echols of Olney, and Retha Stewart and Myrna Whitmire, both of Megargel; 25 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7- 8:30 p.m. at Lunn Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76308.

Nellie Ruth Duncan
WAURIKA, Okla. - Nellie Ruth Duncan, 74, of Duncan, Okla., died Thursday, Sept. 10, 1998, in a Duncan hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Willis C. Worley Funeral Home in Waurika. Burial will be in the Waurika Perpetual Care Cemetery.
Mrs. Duncan was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Riverview community, Okla. She and Pvt. R.J. Winton were married March 12, 1944. He died Feb 25, 1945. She and Nelson Stanford Duncan were married May 12, 1951. He died in 1956. Was a 1941 graduate of Sugden High School. She attended Draughan's Business School in Wichita Falls and was then employed at the Jefferson County Extension Office.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Ann Smith of Grain Valley, Mo., and Peggy Kay Duncan and Joannie Marie Duncan, both of Duncan; three sisters, Virginia Black of Waurika, Anna Wainscott of Pampa, Texas, and Dorothy Kafer of Henrietta, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be all day today at the funeral home.

Wilma Hazel Dunham
FREDERICK, Okla. - Wilma Hazel Dunham, 93, of Frederick died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, at a Frederick nursing center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Burkhardt Chapel with the Rev. Charles Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Jackson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dunham was born Sept. 27, 1904, in what is now Laing community, Okla. She and T.W. Dunham were married Dec. 21, 1924, in Frederick. He died in 1993. She was a homemaker, and a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Gilbert Dunham of Frederick, Erwin Dunham of Ardmore and Darwin Dunham of Waco, Texas; a sister, Lois Schroeder of Frederick; a brother, Clyde Kelly of Frederick; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Juan Rangel
Juan Rangel, 78, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in Dallas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church with Deacon Anastasio Perez officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mr. Rangel was born May 2, 1920, in Oklahoma City. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He worked at Webb Landscaping for 30 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Dominquez of Chicago and Anita Beccera of Dallas; a step-daughter, Juanita Ayala of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mary Felix of Wichita Falls and Lilia Alambar of Iowa Park; a brother, Natividad Rangel of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lois Frances Hamner
IOWA PARK – Mrs. Lois Frances Hamner, 94, of Duncan, Okla., died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in Dallas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Dutton Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Beckwith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hamner was born Oct. 23, 1903, in Hood, Texas. She and Paul Hamner were married April 16, 1922, in Vernon, Texas. He died in 1974. She moved to Wichita County in 1906 with her family and lived on a ranch near Iowa Park. In 1946 she and her husband moved to Stephens County, Okla. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a brother, Gober L. Mitchell of Canadian, Texas.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today for visitation.

Betty Leona Miller
BURKBURNETT – Betty Leona Miller, 84, of Burkburnett died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett with Dr. Tim Russell officiating. Burial will be in Burkburnett Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller was born Sept. 27, 1913, in Willis, Okla. Her husband, Herman Y. Miller, died Dec. 15, 1992. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Burkburnett, Senior Adult Sunday School, Wichita Falls Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, several camping clubs, and was a former member of Unity Garden Club. She had lived in Burkburnett for 58 years.
Survivors include two sons, Royce Miller of Burkburnett, Philip Miller of Wichita falls; a brother, Raymond Corder of Kingston, Okla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Della Kellar
OLNEY, Texas – Della Kellar, 82, of Megargel, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 11, 1998, in an Olney nursing home.

Douglas Foster
BOWIE, Texas – Douglas Woodrow Foster, 54, of Bowie died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery with Dr. Ronnie Lawson, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bowie, and the Rev. Jamie Reed, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church of Bowie, officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Foster was born June 26, 1944, in Charlie, Texas. He was a retired truck driver, a Baptist and a lifetime resident of Bowie.
Survivors include his wife, Vera Jean Welsh; a daughter, Wendy Costello of Bowie; a step-daughter, Geraldine Welsh of Bowie; three step-sons, Johnny Welsh and Jerry Welsh, both of Bowie, and Oran Welsh of Marietta, Okla.; a brother, Don Foster of Bowie; three sisters, Wilma Beasley of Bowie, Thelma Greene of Odessa, Texas, and Hazel West of Wichita; and 10 grandchildren.

Velma Vera Gray
JACKSBORO, Texas – Velma Vera Gray, 98, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in a Jacksboro hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Live Oak Baptist Church in Jacksboro with the Rev. Craig Lyle officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was born March 4, 1900, in Jack County, Texas. She and Fred Allen Gray were married in 1919 in Graford, Texas. He died in 1967. She was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church and was a child-care provider.
Survivors include a son, Morris Gray of Jacksboro; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Willard Jewel Ridley
THROCKMORTON, Texas – Willard Jewel Ridley, 84, of Woodson died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in a Graham, Texas, hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Merriman-Archer Funeral Chapel in Throckmorton with the Rev. A.B. Martin officiating and the Rev. Darrell Martin assisting. Burial will be in Woodson Cemetery.
Mr. Ridley was born June 13, 1914, in Rossville, Ga. He and Sibyl Harris were married Nov. 12, 1938, in Throckmorton. He came to Throckmorton at the age of 11 with his parents. He attended school at Weaver Pasture community and later Throckmorton. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps Camp and spent four years stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas. After his discharge from CCC he returned to Throckmorton. He and his wife moved to Woodson about 1950. He was in Ft. Griffin Fandangle for several years, where he went to Lady Bird Johnson Ranch to raise money for a memorial for President Lyndon B. Johnson. After several years of working on a ranch he became a self-employed carpenter-painter. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Rhodes of Graham; a brother, Elmer Ridley of Junction City, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Sarah Julynn Ervin
AZLE, Texas - Sarah Julynn Ervin, 71, of Azle died Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church in Azle. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of White's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ervin was born April 2, 1927, in Trenton, Texas. Her husband, Eugene V. Ervin, died in March 1977. She had been a resident of Azle in the Pelican Bay area since 1979, and was formerly of Wichita Falls. She was a registered nurse at Wichita Falls State Hospital for more than 20 years. She continued caring for children from her home after her retirement.
Survivors include three sons, Eddie Gannon of Wichita Falls and Eugene and David Ervin, both of Azle; two daughters, Sherry Brewer of Springtown and Debra Horn of Azle; a brother, Bob Musser of Batesville, Ark.; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. today.The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Vela Mae Jackson
Vela Mae Jackson, 95, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Sept. 12, 1998, in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Crestview Memorial Park with Larry Shuttle, minister of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born July 7, 1903, in Meshack, Ky. She and Dow T. Jackson were married May 26, 1960. He died Oct. 2, 1980. She had lived in Wichita Falls for 40 years and was an apartment manager for B & L Rooming House. She was a member of Tenth and Broad Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Arthur D. Nunn of Lindsay, Okla.; a daughter, Helen Daniels of Wichita Falls; a brother, Willie Kirkpatrick of Livingston, Tenn.; a sister, Ollen Stewart of Gilmer, Texas; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
