W.D. 'Bill' Norman
GRAHAM, Texas - W.D. 'Bill' Norman, 77, of Graham died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Sebesta, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, and Raymond Brooks with the Loving Highway Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery.
Mr. Norman was born Sept. 14, 1920, in Graham. He and Louise Durham were married Aug. 11, 1941, in Marietta, Okla. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in World War II. He retired from Shlumberger after 35 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, William D. Norman III of Graham and David R. of Houston; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 812 Shawnee, Graham, Texas 76450.

L. Earl Holcomb
GRAHAM, Texas - L. Earl Holcomb, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, in McKinney, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Pioneer Cemetery with the Rev. David Mosser, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mr. Holcomb was born Sept. 14, 1904, in South Bend, Texas. He and Thelma Anne Vickers were married April 24, 1926, in Wichita Falls. She died May 18, 1978. He was a past-commanding officer with the rank of Captain of the Company A27th Battalion of the Texas State Guard during World War II. He was a former vice-president of the Continental National Bank in Fort Worth. He retired in 1969 after 40 years of service. He was a past president of the Fort Worth Chapter of the American Institute of Banking.
Survivors include two daughters, Nola Lou Miers of Blue Ridge, Texas, and Linda Anne Bay of Mesa, Ariz.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Alzada Arrant
QUANAH, Texas - Alzada Arrant, 84, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in her Quanah residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with Lyndal Werner, minister of Quanah Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at Quanah Memorial Park.
Mrs. Arrant was born April 6, 1914, in Ardmore, Okla. She and Walter Arrant were married in 1968 in Crosbyton, Texas. He died in 1972. She had lived in Fort Worth until moving to Quanah seven years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Anna Belmond of Fort Worth, Tomma Morgan of Dallas and Jennie Knotts of Quanah; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Louise Kelly
FORT WORTH - Louise Kelly, 87, of Fort Worth died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Kelly was born Aug. 13, 1910, in Ringgold, Texas. Her husband, Joseph 'Judy' Kelly, died in 1991. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Sammie Joe of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Betty Jo Ferrell of Fort Worth; a sister, Hazel Strom of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

Daniel Frank Swindall
VERNON, Texas - Daniel Frank Swindall, 79, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in his Vernon residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Derrell Patterson of First United Methodist Church of Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park.
Mr. Swindall was born Sept. 11, 1918, in Tyler, Texas. He and Earine Reed were married Aug. 20, 1940, in Abilene, Texas. She died March 18, 1987. He and Mary Jane Draper were married Sept. 5, 1987, in Vernon. He retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Air Force after serving 28 years. He was a navigator on a B29 bomber and had 36 missions over Japan. He moved to Vernon in 1969 after retiring from the Air Force. He was the former owner of Dan's Lock and Key. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife; three stepchildren, Gordon Rhoads of Chandler, Texas, Stefanie Rhoads of Ogden, Iowa, and Brenda Shilanski of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Lee of Gainesville, Texas; and two grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 7-8 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Golden Wings Hospice Foundation.

Virginia 'Ginny' Collard
OLNEY, Texas - Virginia Ruth 'Ginny' Gibson Collard, 56, of Olney died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Collard was born Aug. 18, 1941, in Teague, Texas. She and Dave Collard were married Sept. 1, 1962, in Dallas. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for 22 years. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of Olney since 1971. She served in the Navy for two years.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Stephen of Olney; a daughter, Lisa Kellar of Olney; her mother, Pauline Hair of Big Pine, Calif.; a brother, Thomas R. Gibson of Hartford, Ky.; and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, P.O. Box 913, Olney, Texas 76374.

Dorothy Marie Barnes
Dorothy Marie Barnes, 69, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, in a WichitaFalls nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Gregory Neal, pastor of Beverly Drive United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Ms. Barnes was born Dec. 21, 1928, in Wichita Falls. She was a retired Civil Service secretary for Sheppard Air Force Base. She was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls and a member of Beverly Drive United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mozelle Hanson of Carmichael, Calif.; and a brother, Bob Smithson of Houston.

Ronnie Lynn Utzman
Ronnie Lynn Utzman, 49, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospice center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Carnley, pastor of Maurine Street Church of God, and the Rev. Weldon Wright officiating. Burial will be in Petrolia Cemetery.
Mr. Utzman was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Wichita Falls. He and Clydeen Utzman were married June 21, 1968, in Wichita Falls. He was a pump mechanic for the City of Wichita Falls for 23 years. He was a two-gallon donor for the Red Cross. He was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls and a member of Maurine Street Church of God. A son, Jason Brent, died in August 1974.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronnie Lyn Utzman II of Fort Worth; a brother, Dan Thomas of Wichita Falls; and a sister, Jeannine Babineaux of Lake Charles, La.
The family will be at the funeral from 7-8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Harold W. 'Pete' Haynie
Harold W. 'Pete' Haynie, 89, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospice center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with L. Keith Parker officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Haynie was born May 16, 1909, in Dow, Okla. His wife, Ida Haynie, died in 1985. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a retired automobile mechanic and a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls. A daughter, Anna Ruth Porter, died in 1972. A son, Harold Kenneth, died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Hudson of Everett, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Richard L. Kaelin
LUBBOCK - Richard L. Kaelin, 67, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, in his Lubbock residence.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at Trinity Church Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jantzen officiating. Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the First Baptist Church in Ansley, Neb., with the Rev. Richard Wilson officiating. Burial was in Ansley Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Kaelin was born Nov. 23, 1930, in Ansley. He and Delores Dobesh were married Dec. 3, 1949, in Minden, Neb. He graduated from Ansley High School. He lived in Wichita Falls from 1967 to 1977. He was a manager for Bankers Life and Casualty Insurance Company for 45 years. He was a member of RHU, Health Underwriters and Trinity Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia Dee Kaelin of Fort Stockton, Texas, Karolyn King of McAllen, Texas, and Rebecca Lynn of Lubbock; four sons, Richard Bradley of Aurora, Colo., John Davis of Big Spring, Texas, Paul Franklin of Wichita Falls and Gregory Michael of Fort Worth; two brothers, Donald Eugene of Grand Island, Neb., and Roland of Ansley; a half-brother, Earl Woodard of Sioux City, Iowa; a sister, Norma Jean Casteel of Sargent, Neb.; and 16 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Unwed Mothers Ministry at Trinity Church, 7002 Canton Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79413.

Gertrude Wells
Gertrude Wells, 92, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, in a Wichita Falls care center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 809 Harding, with the Rev. R.M. Castle, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Wichita Falls under the direction of Young & Company Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wells was born Aug. 13, 1906, in Hearne, Texas. She and Vlint Wells were married in 1945 in Anson, Texas. She was a retired domestic technician. She had lived in Wichita Falls for 30 years. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Temple of Wichita Falls; two sons, Sanco Nash Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, and Roosevelt C. Nash of Denver, Colo.; a brother, Arthur Lee Rice of Bryan, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 509 Jalonic in Wichita Falls.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

James 'Gene' Lee
James 'Gene' Lee, 71, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery Pavilion in Iowa Park with the Rev. Howard Chapman, assistant pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Lee was born Dec. 6, 1926, in Iowa Park. He and Maxine McBee Lee were married Nov. 14, 1980. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was an oil field worker for Spruiell Drilling Company. He was a member of the Gideon Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, May Simmons of Iowa Park; two sons, Coy James of Wichita Falls and James of Arlington, Texas; three daughters, Susan Tibbetts of McKinney, Texas, Tracy Robertson of Iowa Park and Patricia Powell of Lafayette, La.; a brother, Johnny D. of Iowa Park; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. this evening.

Robert Wittenbach
ELECTRA, Texas - Robert 'Bob' Wittenbach, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Electra with the Rev. William G. Etheredge, of Wichita Falls, and the Rev. Charles Nichols, pastor of Southside Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Wittenbach was born July 24, 1921, in Punkin Center, and was a lifetime resident of Electra. He and Mary Dean Ashley were married April 25, 1953, in Henrietta, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He and his brother established Lake Road Implement Company in 1946 and he later became the owner of Wittenbach Elevator and Fertilizer Company. He retired in 1989. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Shriners. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Electra.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jo Beth Klas of Bedford, Texas, and Amy Wheat of Wichita Falls; three brothers, A. W. of Electra, Billie Joe of Midland, Texas, and Don of Chickasha, Okla.; four sisters, Marilyn Beeman of Odessa, Texas, Kay Johns of Electra, Elizabeth Davenport of Tyler, Texas, and Faye Gore Smith of Silsbee, Texas; and a granddaughter.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. this evening.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Electra.

Clarance 'Wesley' Speights
NOCONA, Texas - Clarance 'Wesley' Speights, 38, died Saturday, Aug. 16, 1998, in a Nocona hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Scott-Morris Funeral Home with Mike Burns, of Edgewood, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Nocona Cemetery.
Mr. Speights was born March 4, 1960, in Littlefield, Texas. He was a former employee of the Nocona Belt Company. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Alicia Marie Duncan of Nocona and Sandy Lyn Speights of Forestburg, Texas; a sister, Sandra Schutes of Saint Jo, Texas; four brothers, John and Floyd of Nocona, Charles of Whitney, Texas, and Bill of Jamul, Calif.

Othella Bryant
HENRIETTA, Texas - Othella Bryant, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Norsworthy, pastor of Grace Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryant was born Feb. 6, 1925, in Bowie, Texas. She and James C. Bryant were married April 3, 1948, in Montague, Texas. She was a retired nursing home cook and aide, and a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two brothers, David Owen of Wichita Falls and Curtis Owen of Jacksboro, Texas; and a sister, Juanita Turnbow of Henrietta.

Juanita Garrett
CROWELL, Texas - Juanita Garrett, 81, of Foard County, Texas, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, in a Vernon, Texas, hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Womack-Manard Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of First Baptist Church of Crowell, officiating. Burial will be in Crowell Cemetery.
Mrs. Garrett was born June 11, 1917, in Foard County, where she was a lifetime resident. She and Willie Garrett were married Feb. 4, 1933, in Hugo, Okla. He died Jan. 10, 1982. She attended the Gambleville School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Crowell and member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Gambleville Home Demonstration Club and the Crowell Senior Citizens. A son, Denny, died Nov. 26, 1987.
Survivors include a son, Aldon Ray of Houston; a sister, Wanda V. Bradford of Menasha, Wis.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Rex Norman Lane
JACKSBORO, Texas - Rex Norman Lane, 71, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, in his Jacksboro home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ of Jacksboro with Joe Williams, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Jacksboro under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Lane was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Clarendon, Texas. He and Maria Martha Garza were married Feb. 7, 1950, in Hebbronville, Texas. He was a retired oilfield production foreman.
Survivors include two brothers, LeRoy Dwight of Jacksboro and Bobby R. of Bellville, Texas; and a sister, Billie Jo Cox of Newcastle, Texas.

Homer McDonald
BURKBURNETT - Homer Lee 'Mac' McDonald, 85, of Burkburnett died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church of Burkburnett with the Rev. Duane Perkinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Burkburnett Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
Mr. McDonald was born Nov. 1, 1912, in Sunset, Texas. He and Gwendolyn McKinney were married in 1937. She died in 1970. He retired as the assistant fire chief at Sheppard Air Force Base in 1973. He was a former member of Burkburnett Volunteer Fire Department and Lake Kickapoo Volunteer Fire Department. He was a longtime resident of Burkburnett and had also lived in Holliday, Texas.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ford of Burkburnett; a son, Gaylan of Waco, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Richard 'Dick' Spiller
AUSTIN - Richard H. 'Dick' Spiller Jr., 87, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Romiley Timmons, of Grace Episcopal Church in Georgetown, Texas, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
Mr. Spiller was born Dec. 11, 1910, in Canadian, Texas. His wife, Agnes Spiller, died in 1984. He studied engineering at Oklahoma State University. He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War as a master corporal. He was employed by the Texas Department of Transportation for 47 years. He had lived in Austin before moving to Wichita Falls in 1993.
Survivors include two brothers, Hollis B. of Amarillo, Texas, and Michael W. of Wichita Falls.
