Irene Hulsey
FREDERICK, Okla. – Irene Kisselburg Hulsey, 95, former resident of Frederick, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Burkhardt Chapel of Frederick Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Vernon Floyd, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hulsey was born Jan. 12, 1903, in Snyder, Texas. She and Oscar S. Hulsey were married May 5, 1918, in Boliver, Texas. He died Dec. 15, 1975. She came to Tillman County in 1929. She moved to Guthrie to the Golden Age Nursing Home in April 1997. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Alfred and Albert, both of Edmond, Okla.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Noel Andrus Sr.
IOWA PARK, Texas -- Noel Andrus Sr., 93, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in his home.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery with Steve Beckwith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Iowa Park officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Andrus was born Jan. 19, 1905, in Tarrant County, Texas. He and Ollie Mae Holyfield were married Nov. 2, 1924, in Henrietta, Texas. She died Feb. 14, 1989. He had worked for Lone Star Gas Company and was a former dispatcher for Iowa Park Police Department. He also owned a washateria and wrecking yard. He was a resident of Iowa Park for 33 years moving from Wichita Falls. He was a member of the Baptist religion. A son, Troy, died April 15, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Noel Jr. of Bradley, Okla.; two sisters, Pearl Draper and Almira Morris both of Burkburnett, Texas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Melvin Means
THROCKMORTON, Texas – Melvin Means, 76, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in a Bedford, Texas, hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Merriman-Archer Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill elts of Paris, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery.
Mr. Means was born April 9, 1922, in Throckmorton. He and Barbara Rackley were married Oct. 8, 1962, in Louisiana. He was a retired salesman. He had lived in Lubbock, Texas, Abilene, Texas, Ruidoso, N.M. and Paris before moving to Bedford in May of 1998. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and was a past president of Ruidoso Downs Muleskinners Association. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lynda Nelson of Abilene and Jo Ann Robinson of Los Alamos, N.M.; a son, James Means of Abilene; three stepsons, Terry Fitzgerald of Paris, Billy Fitzgerald of Bedford and Jackie Fitzgerald of Leesburg, Texas; two brothers, Clyde Means of Breckenridge, Texas, and J.R. Means of Temple, Texas; a sister, Clara Belle Hudson of Graham, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Priscilla Laverne King
IOWA PARK – Priscilla Laverne King, 73, of McKinney, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Friday in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Joe Wayne Davis, pastor of Highland Church of God, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.
Mrs. King was born May 22, 1925, in Slayton, Texas. She and Rufus Weldon King were married in April 1944 in Odessa, Texas. He died March 29, 1958. She worked as a presser for a dry cleaner and lived in McKinney for one year. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include a brother, Hailey B. Richardson of Slayton.

Leonard G. Elliott
GRANDFIELD, Okla. – Leonard G. Elliott, 87, of Randlett, Okla., died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gray Funeral Home of Grandfield with the Rev. Mike Rucker, pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Randlett Cemetery.
Mr. Elliott was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Randlett. He and Jessie King were married Aug. 26, 1935, in Walters, Okla. She died July 11, 1987. He owned and operated a country store/service station for more than 35 years before retiring in 1980.
Survivors include a son, Jack King of Randlett; two daughters, Evelyn Hauger of Randlett and Joyce Baker of Richmond, Mo.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Calvin Harvey Franklin
WAURIKA, Okla. -- Calvin Harvey Franklin, 74, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in a Waurika nursing home.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Waurika Assembly of God with the Rev. Chris Brown, pastor officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willis C. Worley & Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Franklin was born Jan. 29, 1924, in Stamford, Texas. He moved to Odessa, Texas, and began working in an ice-making plant. Later he became a truck driver and drove for more than 40 years. He had been living in Waurika since 1994. He was a member of Waurika Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a sister, Lorena McIntire of Sunset, Texas; and a brother, Earnest of Waurika.

Lida Mae Beasley
ELECTRA – Lida Mae Beasley, 95, of Electra died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Highland Cemetery of Iowa Park with Dennis Hoff, pastor of Southside Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home of Electra.
Mrs. Beasley was born March 29, 1903, in Pattonville, Texas. She graduated from Abilene Christian University and received her master’s degree from Sul Ross University. She taught school in Perryton, Texas, and Midland, Texas, where she retired. She was a member of Southside Church of Christ, delivered for Meals on Wheels and was active with the Senior Citizens of Electra. She was a retired member of Texas Teacher’s Association and had lived in Electra for 33 years.
Survivors include her nephew, Clint Cooper of Williston, N.D.

Hazel Marie Hudson
BOWIE, Texas -- Hazel Marie Hudson, 58, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in a Bowie hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Irish, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery in Sunset.
Mrs. Hudson was born May 28, 1940, in Warrensburg, Mo. She and Billy Wayne Hudson were married Feb. 12, 1994, in Bowie. He died June 28, 1998. She was a homemaker. She had been a resident of Lubbock before moving to Bowie 30 years ago.
Survivors include seven sons, Jerry Coffman of Boyd, Texas, Arthur Coffman of Knox City, Texas, Dale Coffman of Milwaukee, Wis., Ray Coffman of Bowie, George Clark of Thorndale, Texas, James Clark of Decatur, Texas, and Lonnie Throckmorton of Yukon, Okla.; three sisters, Lula Mae Ridge and Anna Lu Parsons, both of Warrensburg, Mo., and Ruth Moore of Houston; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Ledesa Muriel McLeroy
GRANDVIEW, Texas -- Ledesa Muriel “Tiny’’ McLeroy, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, in her residence.
Private services were held.
Mrs. McLeroy was born April 25, 1917, in Chattanooga, Okla. She and Rucker McLeroy were married in October 1962. He died Oct. 5, 1989. She lived most of her life in Wichita Falls before moving to Alvarado, Texas, in 1962. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Trussell of Grandview; two sons, Tommy Bruce of Iowa Park and Harlan Bruce of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Esther Yancy and Bessie McWhorter, both of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Annie Dedek
VERNON, Texas -- Annie Dedek, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, in a Vernon hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Oren Key officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dedek was born Dec. 24, 1915, in Wilbarger County, Texas. She and Edmund Dedek were married in January 1936. He died Feb. 6, 1967. She lived in Wilbarger County most of her life. She was a cook at Lockett Schools and Waggoner Bank. She was active in several church groups.
Survivors include three nieces, Frances Burgess of Amarillo, Texas, Lillie Kubicek of Vernon, and Mary Cole of Cedar Hill, Texas; a nephew, Bill of Plainview, Texas; and several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.

Lottie Adell Simpson
JACKSON, Texas – Lottie Adell Simpson, 97, of Jacksboro died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Coker Funeral Home with Elder Sam Wylie officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Medlan Cemetery in Graham.
Mrs. Simpson was born Nov. 15, 1901, in Eliasville, Texas. She was a retired telephone operator. Her husband, James Willis Simpson died Sept. 3, 1989.

Lawrence Gale Balsley
Lawrence Gale Balsley, 79, of Iowa Park died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999.
Services are pending with Dutton Funeral Home of Iowa Park.

Harley Gean Layland
Harley Gean Layland, 68, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999.
Services are pending with Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.

Mildred Fiksdal
Mildred Fiksdal, 85, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999.

Tommye L. Harlan
MUNDAY, Texas – Tommye Loraine Harlan, 70, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in a Seymour, Texas, hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Goree, Texas, Cemetery with Kent Trainham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harlan was born Aug. 10, 1928, in Knox County, Texas. She was a postal employee in Goree and attended Methodist Nursing School. She was a dorm mother in Lubbock, Texas from 1969-1973. She returned to Munday to work as a licensed vocational nurse. She worked at the Seymour Hospital Authority.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Hamilton of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her mother, Ola Coffman of Munday; and a grandson.

L.B. Boren Sr.
ARCHER CITY, Texas – L.B. Boren, 79, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Boren was born June 23, 1919, in Walters, Okla. He and Viola Darland were married June 25, 1939, in Grandfield, Okla. She died April 8, 1982. He, served in the Army during World War II and retired from Helmerich & Payne Oil Company in 1983 with 25 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, L.B. “Buster” Jr. of Archer City and Jimmy “Shug” Boren of Burleson, Texas; two daughters, Aquilla Brake of Burleson and Twilla Howard of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Archer City Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 198, Archer City, Texas 76351.

James Wendell Dugger
HENRIETTA, Texas -- James Wendell “Bill” Dugger, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Merwin Turner, associate pastor of Floral Heights Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Dugger was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Henrietta. He and Nannie Catherine Howard were married Sept. 5, 1949, in Henrietta. He graduated from Henrietta High School, Hardin Junior College, Midwestern State University and received his law degree from the University of Texas. In 1951, he started his law practice in Wichita County. He was Bankruptcy Trustee for the Northern District of Texas and for the Federal Court for 35 years. He taught business law at what is now Midwestern State University, served as city judge and was listed in Who’s Who in Texas. He served in the Army Air Corp in the Philippines in World War II and was a member of Floral Heights Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of Faith Lodge No. 1158, Dallas Scottish Rite and the Maskat Temple.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rosemary Brown of Wichita Falls; and a son, William Dugger of Wichita Falls.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the North Texas Rehab Center.

Thelma Rhodes
Thelma Rhodes, 65, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Welch Street Church of Christ with W.I. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young & Company Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rhodes was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Marshall, Texas. She was a nurse’s aide at Wichita General Hospital for 31 years and was a member of Welch Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda Pope and Linda Woodard, both of Austin, Rose Davis of Wichita Falls, and Donna Jefferson of Beaumont, Texas; three sons, Robert Rhodes, Felton Rhodes and Willie Rhodes, all of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Dorothy Mollice and Rosie Brown, both of Wichita Falls; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 1700 Avalon.

Fred Clark
DUNCAN, Okla. – Fred Clark, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in a Lawton, Okla., hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Morehead-Goetz Funeral Home with Bubba Clark officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Clark was born March 24, 1911, in Bates, Okla. He and Lena Whittington were married April 26, 1934, in Duncan. She died March 26, 1992. He worked for Jones Drilling Company in Stephens County District 3 until retirement and was a Baptist.
Survivors include four sons, Freddie Clark of Duncan, Wyndell Clark of Orlando, Fla., Calvin Clark of Garland, Texas, and Jimmie Clark of Comanche, Texas; five daughters, Gloria Duggan of Marlow, Okla., Patricia Fowler of Reno, Nev., Jo Dean Grady of Enid, Okla., Beverly Nichols of Dallas and Darlene Clark of Bedford, Texas; 31 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren.

Clara Beryl Durrett
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – Clara Beryl Durrett, 75, of Arlington, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in an Arlington hospital.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bean-Masse-Burge Funeral Home in Grand Prairie. Burial will be in Mansfield, Texas, Cemetery.
Mrs. Durrett was born April 17, 1923, in Talpa, Texas. She moved to the Wichita Falls area as a child and completed high school here. She lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area for the past 15 years. She worked as a home health care giver and was a member of the California Lane Church of Christ. Her son, Pat Nugen, died in 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy Smith of Blanchard, La., and Cindy Henry of Winnsboro, Texas; two sons, Lee Fritts of Winnsboro and Rick Nugen of Grand Prairie; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Lola Younge
Lola Younge, 84, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. today at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Harvey McMurry, pastor of City View Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Younge was born June 14, 1914. She was a Baptist and a housekeeper. She had been a resident of Wichita Falls for 25 years. Her husband, George Younge, died in 1973.
Survivors include a son, Jerry R. Stripling of Austin.
