MOBILE COUNTY

Mark Brown Jr.
CITRONELLE — Mark Brown Jr., who had owned Dixon Auto Supply Inc. of Mobile for more than 45 years, died Tuesday at his home. He was 88.
Brown, a native of Dixie, Miss., was a longtime resident of Citronelle.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post No. 164 in Citronelle.
Survivors include his wife, Ozella P. Brown of Citronelle; a daughter, Connie B. Parnell of Citronelle; a sister, Anne B. Keegan of Atlanta; a brother, Maxsom M. Brown of Gulfport; and a granddaughter.
A memorial service is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday at his daughter's home, 19240 First St., in Citronelle.
Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.
Memorials may be made to the building fund at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Citronelle.

Marietta B. Coleman
Marietta "Ganny" Blackmon Coleman, a resident of Mobile and Manhattan, N.Y., died Monday after a lengthy illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Coleman, a native Mobilian, was a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a former organist and pianist. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Coleman Green of Mobile; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Saturday at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church, 451 Weinacker Ave., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Cemetery.

Jack A. Rankin
Jack Andrew Rankin, a retiree of the Seafarers International Union, died Monday at a local hospital.
Rankin was a lifelong Mobilian.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria T. Rankin; five daughters, Sybil M. Thomas and Joyce M. Thomas, both of Mobile, Melanie Johnson of Paterson, N.J., June Gales of Montgomery and Jan Roulnac of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; three sons, Anthony W. Thomas, Thomas F. Rankin and Phillip J. Rankin, all of Mobile; a brother, Aubrey Rankin Sr.; and 24 grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home and after 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 454 Charleston St. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, with the rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.

ESCAMBIA COUNTY

Clarence W. Dorriety
ATMORE — Clarence Winston "Pete" Dorriety, a native of Escambia County and resident of Atmore, died Monday in Mobile. He was 65.
Survivors include his mother, Luverne P. Dorriety of Atmore; three brothers, John Dorriety and Hurston Dorriety, both of Atmore, and Roy Dorriety of Biloxi; and a sister, Dorothy Dorriety of Atmore.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore, with burial in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

WILCOX COUNTY

William N. Nuss
PINE HILL — William Ray Nuss, former owner of Nuss Timber Co. in Pine Hill, Ala., died Monday at a nursing home in Marengo County. He was 84.
Nuss was a native of Hanceville, Ala., and a resident of Pine Hill. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was on the board of directors for the Bank of Pine Hill and was a member of the West Wilcox Civitan Club.
Nuss is survived by his wife, Marie Nuss of Pine Hill; three daughters, Sandra Nuss Hamilton, Gloria Nuss Adams, and Diane Nuss Draper, all of Thomasville; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Pine Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home.

Inez E. Spencer
TEMECULA, Calif. — Inez English Spencer, a native Mobilian and resident of Temecula, died Friday at a hospital in Marietta, Calif. She was 72.
Mrs. Spencer had been a member of Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church in Mobile.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline Nash of Temecula; two sons, Henry Spencer Jr. of Los Angeles and Gregory Spencer of Mobile; three sisters, Catherine Moody of Kansas City, Kan., Annie Ruth Bailey of Mobile and Betty Feurgeson of New Orleans; three brothers, Walter English and Leonard English, both of Mobile, and Edward English of Torrance, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home in Mobile. Viewing will also be after 9 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive No. 1 Baptist Church, 409 Lexington Ave., with visitation from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. services. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Edgar Thomas Beaulieu
BAY MINETTE — Edgar Thomas Beaulieu, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at Mobile Infirmary.
The Bay Minette resident was a self-employed plumber. He was a native of Fitchburg, Mass.
He is survived by his wife, Everline Anderson Beaulieu of Bay Minette; one son, Charles Beaulieu of Gulf Shores; a sister, Lena Hargreaves of Fitchburg, Mass.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. The Rev. Alan Blackmon will officiate and burial will follow in Bay Minette Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight, from 6 to 9 o'clock, at the funeral home.
Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette is handling the arrangements.

William Frank Cowart
BAY MINETTE — William Frank "Bill" Cowart, 48, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home in Bay Minette. He was employed at J&M Vinyl Siding and served in the National Guard.
Cowart is survived by one son, William Shane Cowart of Bay Minette; two daughters, Dana Lynn Sprinkle of Atmore and Teresa Caye Styron of Loxley; his mother, Louise Sprinkle of Bay Minette; three brothers, Grady Dewayne "Buck" Sprinkle, Larry Paul Sprinkle and Michael Ray Sprinkle, all of Bay Minette; two sisters, Shelia Turk and Kay Philpot, both of Bay Minette; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette. The Rev. Joe Welch will officiate and burial will follow in Bay Minette Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Norris Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Pat Webb
BAY MINETTE — Pat Webb, 81, died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Bay Minette. The Atlanta native was a secretary and was retired from MARTA.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Stromberg of Snellville, Ga., and Paula MacKenzie of Fowlerville, Mich.; two grandchildren, Sandy Ludwig of Waterford, Mich., and Sheryl Eastman of Tecumseh, Mich.; and two great-grandchildren.
No services are planned, as was Mrs. Webb's request.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Habitat for Humanity, c/o First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 338, Bay Minette, AL 36507; to Mercy Medical, 177 Baldwin Square, Fairhope, AL 36532, or to a charity of choice.
Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette is handling the arrangements.

Judith M. Clark
FAIRHOPE — Judith M. Clark, a native of Greenville, Pa., and a resident of Fairhope, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at a local health-care facility. She was 59.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date by Fairhope Funeral Home.

Janice S. Williams
FAIRHOPE — Janice Stephenson "Duckwoman" Williams, 47, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at a local hospital. The Fairhope resident was a native of Chicago.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail Quaites of Foley; two sons, Willie Williams Jr. of Kansas City, Kan., and Derrick Williams of Fairhope; her mother, Mildred Holcombe of Fairhope; two sisters, Cassandra York of Fairhope and Venetia Pettaway of Kansas City, Kan.; and two brothers, Carl Wilson of Point Clear and Michael Safford of Lawrence, Kan.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at the Right Spirit Church in Spanish Fort with the Rev. Dupree Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Beech Cemetery in Fairhope.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until funeral service time at the church.
Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope is handling the arrangements.

Daniel Lynn Price
BAY MINETTE — Daniel Lynn Price, a native of Dubois, Pa., and a resident of Bay Minette, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999, at Mobile Infirmary Medical Center.
The 49-year-old graduated from Auburn University in 1976 with a degree in architectural and building construction. He was a superintendent at Tom P. Ollinger Construction Inc.
Price was also a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Ayre Sue Little Price of Bay Minette; one son, Jason Lynn Price of Bay Minette; one daughter, Melissa Price Byrd of Orlando, Fla.; his mother, Marjorie Snyder Price of Jacksonville, Ala.; his stepmother, Opal Ray of Bay Minette; one sister, Kathy Price Harville of Orange Park, Fla.; and three stepsisters, Paula Joiner, Lorraine Gray and Shirley Melton, all of Bay Minette; and a great-aunt, Olivia Baird of Bay Minette.
Services will be held at 5 this afternoon in the chapel of Norris Funeral Home with the Rev. Tracy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Bay Minette Cemetery.

Dorothy Edna J. Howard
FOLEY — Dorothy Edna Jones Howard of Foley, a native of Cochton, Ohio, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999. She was 68.
Survivors include her husband, B.F. Howard of Foley; a son, Johnny Howard of Athens; four daughters, Marie Fields of Grand Bay, Betty Black of Jay, Fla., Sharon Young of Elberta and Rebecca Reeser of Pensacola; three sisters, Sarah Ard of Foley, Ruth Hollinsworth of Elberta, and Helen Lepard of Painesville, Ohio; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 tonight at Pine Rest Funeral Home of Foley. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.

Charles Michael Lipham Sr.
FOLEY — Charles Michael Lipham Sr., a native of Anniston and a resident of Foley, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999. He was 33.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lipham of Foley; his son, Charles M. Lipham Jr. of Foley; his daughter, Mary Louise Lipham of Foley; his father, Charles Ray Lipham of Decatur; his stepmother, Jane C. Lipham of Decatur; a brother, Tommy Ray Lipham of Pensacola; and a sister, Lisa Jane Lipham of Decatur.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.

Malena Mae Whitley
BAY MINETTE — A graveside service will be held today for Malena Mae Whitley of Bay Minette. The service will begin at 9 a.m. at Bay Minette Cemetery. Dr. Roe Callaway will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. at Norris Funeral Home in Bay Minette.
Ms. Whitley, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 1999, at Oakwood Nursing Home. She had worked as the personnel director for the city of Bay Minette.
Survivors include her brother, William H. Whitley of Bay Minette; three nieces, one nephew, seven great-nieces, two great-nephews and one great-great-niece.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 300 Vestavia Parkway, Suite 3500, Birmingham, AL 35216.

Mary Rose Vargo
ELBERTA — Mary Rose Vargo, a native of Wisconsin and a resident of Elberta, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 1999. She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Vargo was a member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and a member of the Josephine Extension Club for 50 years.
Survivors include her son, John E. Vargo of Elberta; a brother, Charles Chrenko of Lillian; and two sisters, Rose Krehling and Elizabeth Burkhardt, both of Elberta.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Elberta. The Rev. Howard Moussier will officiate, with Bayview Funeral Home of Foley directing. Burial will follow in Prince of Peace Cemetery in Elberta.

Glenn William Setzer
FOLEY — Glenn William Setzer, a native of Johnson City, Tenn., and a resident of Foley, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999. He was 66.
Setzer is survived by one daughter, Janis Setzer of San Antonio; one son, Glenn William Setzer Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; one brother, Jon Setzer of Nashville, Tenn.; and his mother, Anah Setzer, also of Nashville.
Cremation arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home in Robertsdale.
